Interesting to be able to see the interiors of an old coal processing factory. Is a good way to spend a couple of hours if you have the spare time. Killer shot at the end of the reflecting pool.

Werksbad was great. No fee. It was empty, too. Crazy cool usage of old industry places. Feels still alive. Somehow.

It is disappointing to find an amazing Landschaftpark but having only soup and curry wurst as lunch available in this restaurant. Dunno whether the evening service has more dishes during the week, but you would at least expect something decent to eat. The terrace is cosy.

We did a 2h guided tour with Peters and it was great. Really informative and he did a great job keeping it fun too. Cokeries were a key element to the Industrial Revolution and learning it first hand while seeing it was a unique opportunity. Only in German, though.

No bathrooms anywhere, not great for tourists, especially women obviously. Everything closed (bars and restaurants) depending on the year's period. Thankfully there is a Mc Donalds 3km away, always saves your life. For the rest, is okay: big industrial buildings, but yeah no service at all. Parking lots quite free.

The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex(German Zeche Zollverein) is a large former industrial site in the city of Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It has been inscribed into the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites since December 14, 2001, and is one of the anchor points of the European Route of Industrial Heritage.

There are tours for 2 or 3 hours we did the 3 hour tour. It might be best to book in advance so you get a tour at a time you like. Also we had a german tour i am not sure how frequent the english tours are.

Booked the guided tour, as that is the only way to visit this installation from the inside. Good views from the top of the installation, and huge machines all around.
