I'll be honest about my experience —it was a mixed bag, with both positive and negative aspects. For chocolate lovers, it's a must-visit, especially for kids, but the overall experience left me somewhat underwhelmed. Firstly, I recommend buying tickets online to avoid long lines, as the place is always filled with tourists. The museum did a good job explaining the history, process, and origin of chocolate, but I was disappointed with the lack of detailed insight into the factory process. Many machines seemed non-functional, and there was a lack of order, with visitors scattered everywhere. The viewing windows for chocolate making caused congestion as people lingered, hindering the movement of the line. A better coordination and process would have been appreciated. I would have loved to taste some chocolates and gain a more detailed understanding of the chocolate-making process, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The only highlight was the pastries at the Lindt cafe. Despite the very slow service, the pastries were absolutely delightful—this was the sole highlight of this visit.

What an impressive show of industrial skill. I’ve been to chocolate museums before but this was on another level. It had partially operational industrial machinery demonstrating how chocolate is made now and in the past. Then on top of that it has several historical exhibits, a chocolate shop and a cafe. Nearly everything is in English. Quite the experience for a foreigner.

Really interesting factory museum. I thought they did a nice job including a wide array of interests/considerations to include some relating to fair trade and global warming concerns in the chocolate industry. Lots to look at, you could spend half a day here for sure. Loved the shop, plenty to buy there. One of the coolest things was that you have the opportunity to have a custom chocolate bar made right in front of you!

We came in only for the store. The main lobby was very busy with people waiting for coat check and to go into the museum. The store was large with a lot of selection. The prices are on par with other tourist traps. Things are shiny and colorful. Great atmosphere and quick service.

You can buy tickets upon entry, no need for advance tickets unless you want. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the museum and learning the history of chocolate and how it’s made, processed, and used across the world and different cultures. Coolest part is seeing the chocolate actually made right in front of you through different steps. You even get to click a button that pops out the chocolate that was just cooled/made. Definitely worth the visit here in Cologne!

I would not say that this is a must visit on your trip to Cologne. Also with entry ticket at at EUR 14 per adult, the place is a bit expensive. We went to the place as a family with our four year old son. The place gives information on chocolate processing, and one can find live chocolate production happening at the place. You can taste the freshly made chocolate, if you buy tickets to the museum. Overall the place is OK, If you are on a leisurely trip to Cologne, you may visit the place.

Buy tickets in advance online. Go early, when the museum opens to avoid the crowds. I enjoyed that they showed the entire journey of a chocolate bar. Even showing things like shipping and market share of different brands. Even though I was there on a Sunday there were lots of staff in the chocolate factory showing off their craft which was great to see. The museum also had a history part, detailing things such as chocolate during the wars. So in summary, the museum really has a bit of everything and of course the opportunity to taste the chocolate. I would recommend a visit if in Cologne. Also, if you are there during December the Christmas market in front of the museum was one of the less crowded markets.

The museum is not so big and the whole tour takes about 1-1,5 h. It's good to come in the morning as it isn't crowded. To avoid waiting in the line, I would recommend buying the tickets earlier via the website. In the museum you can see a lot of information about each step of chocolate production. Actually you will get an answer to all kinds of questions about chocolate. Inside there is a small production line which is very interesting. In the end, you may taste a fresh piece of chocolate or try something sweet from the chocolate fountain. This is definitely a place worth visiting however the price of the ticket could be a bit lower.

I always wanted to visit this place, took a while but finally made it. Really enjoyed my day at the Lindt Chocolate Museum, the morning vibe was perfect – not too crowded. The entry fee was reasonable, only 14 euros, and delving into the history of chocolate while sampling various treats was a sweet deal, für all it’s Lindt chocolate, come on! If you're a chocolate lover looking for an experience to bring you a lot of knowledge combined with a side of cocoa wisdom, this spot is a win-win. Highly recommend, even with kids!

3 comments. Would be a 5 stars if not for them. 1- The world map displayed shows Israel whereas Palestine is the correct name 2- The bitter stories of the cocoa laborers is places at the end of the tour where one might miss or not bother to look at after the long tour 3- too many interactive tools and handles to touch around the museum which is a risk during Covid pandemic.

Great museum to visit on a rainy Sunday. It explains a lot of things about cocoa farming and harvesting and about chocolate making. There are explanations in English as well. You can also buy chocolate there, obviously, and personalize your own chocolate bar. There were also some kids decoration their chocolates. There's also a big café there, where you can find lots of chocolate desserts but also normal dishes, like salads. Very pleased with this museum!

Thoroughly enjoyed my time here through the self guided tour of Lindt Chocolate Museum! A wonderful way to spend the day learning about chocolate making, it's history and means of manufacturing it. There's an option where you're able to order your own custom made chocolate, which I did. Highly recommend!

The start of the museum is very interesting, talking about plants, harvesting, transport and the production/manufacturing process. I really appreciated the garden with the actual cacao plants, as well as the big spectacle with all the different machines and process steps. The chocolate fountain itself is nice, but not wow and a bit overrated. After this, you get the history and some art around chocolate, this was quite boring compared to the first part. TLDR: would recommend to go, a lot of interesting exhibitions

Nice place to have an idea about how the 'Lindt' chocolates are made. Very nice place to take children for their level of excitement. Especially nice to see the different types of process throw which chocolates are made. It's one of a kind experience. Not to forget and miss the free sample tasting of chocolate wafers provided. Wheelchair accessible entrance is available. Exciting information about chocolates are available.

Visiting this museum was one of the best decisions I made when I was in Cologne, Germany. During the tour there are different exhibitions that explain everything from the origin of chocolate, to the way it is processed and obtained, as well as its commercial distribution. The tour is very entertaining, and the best thing is that they give free chocolate samples. Although the price could be considered somewhat high, I think it is totally worth it.

Think I was quite mislead by what the museum actually was. It quite literally is a museum meant to be informative. You pay 12 euro (student) to read about chocolate and get a couple pieces. I was under the impression I’d be making chocolate or seeing people hand make it. You have to pay around like 8 euro to make your own chocolate once you’re inside the exhibit and you have to wait 45 minutes for it. Which is a bit silly to put at the end of the exhibit because what am I meant to do for 45 minutes. The line to get a single piece of chocolate was busy as well which is also funny because they give you 4 pieces at the end of the tour anyway. So we waited to get one in a long line for nothing really. It’s good if you want to be be informed on where chocolate comes from and want to do a lot of reading but if you’re expecting more than a euro worth of chocolate. Don’t go. Skip the museum and go for the cafe which is inside. That was a 5/5 experience.

(Translated by Google) (ein sehr interessantes Museum) The Chocolate Museum in Cologne is one of the places worth visiting. First of all, there is a fee at the entrance, after paying the entrance fee, you enter the museum with a small chocolate treat. There is all kinds of information about chocolate inside, such as where it is grown, where it is most consumed in the world. Molded chocolates and their molds are also exhibited in the chocolate museum, formerly these chocolates were made in metal molds, but now they can be made in plastic molds. . While you are still wandering around the museum, you can watch their chocolate being made. You can also make your own chocolate in this museum. An informative museum about chocolate that took us about 2 hours to complete. The building itself is quite pretty and gives you nice views over the Rhein and city. You also get a few pieces of chocolate with your entry ticket. The museum takes you through the history of chocolate, the cocoa plant, its manufacturing and even touches on the slave trade associated with modern chocolate. It is a comprehensive look at the industry. Very informative and in real-time. Because of COVID, there were a few things closed off but the museum found other ways to ensure you got the full experience. I would have liked to have seen more hand sanitizer around the museum because there are a lot of interactive elements. The manufacturing display is not wheelchair accessible but there is a video at each station that helps explain what is happening inside the machines, if you can't access the narrow stairs to peek into the drums. There is an elevator to the different floors of the museum and the bathrooms were wheelchair accessible. Overall, this is a great museum. Explanations are in both German and English language, and the information is presented clearly. I really liked how that linked chocolate to geo-political elements throughout history, too. Kids would enjoy this museum as much as adults. Don't miss the exhibit on the top floor! It was the most fun with interactive games and displays.

In July 2021, chocolate museum is open and really fun! The museum is actually really high quality. If I did not have small children running around, I would have loved to read and discover more of the history. I was very impressed with being able to see a real cocoa tree and seeing chocolate makers at work! The chocolate fountain unfortunately was closed due to covid still. My favorite part was the cafe! I got the iced chocolate, and it was the best I have ever had. The service was also really nice. They had baby seats and blocks for my child to play with. The bathrooms were clean and welcoming for small children. I would not miss this experience.

The Chocolate Museum is one of the places to visit when you arrive in Cologne. The reason is a tiny million, and what was best for me was the tiny sneak peak in how the chocolate factory works from the beginning of the process all the way to distribution. The interesting thing is that you can consume chocolate directly from the machine and complete the experience of the chocolate factory. I heartily recommend that you go through the quiz from the entrance to the exit of the museum, because this knowledge will give you certain benefits in the end. I think this is a great thing for all students who come solo, in pairs or as a team and want to get away from the hectic everyday life.

If you're going to go, get the triple pass, that comes with Ferris Wheel, and a drink. Museum was very boring and basic. Not enough interactive exhibits, mainly text and pictures. Could have just gone to Wikipedia and read this for free. Surprised by how many people brought their children, if I was a child I'd find this very uninteresting. The cafe for the free drink, you had to buy a fondue, which was very good. Though, most of the restaurant was closed off for a private event, and there were 4 tables for a huge queue of people. Took about 20 minutes of waiting to get a table, and that's only because the people in front of us got tired of waiting and left. Otherwise, staff are nice. Though again, cafe is separate to the museum. Which was very boring and crowded (somehow). Price is too high for what you get. We just walked past most of the stands because it was so inspiring, and lackluster. Don't expect too much, but be sure to get the free samples they hand out of small chocolates.

Good experience !! If you are Köln and it's your first time then definitely a must see. Know about the chocolate making process , small kids will love the chocolate picking and the goodies. Not much for adults. Buying a ticket online is best as the counter was more crowded. You can drop luggage at the front desk. Recommended!!

The place is great! A must visit tourist attraction in Cologne. The place is mostly crowded on the weekend and the getting a ticket there might become a big challenge. The place is located right at the heart of the city so it’s easily accessible but parking is a problem, the place doesn’t have its own parking, need to use nearby parking places and walk to the museum. The place has lot of history and future plans for chocolate industry, also the making of chocolate. A whole floor is dedicated for chocolate making and you can see how chocolate bars are made by looking at the working machines. There is also small chocolate outlet to get chocolates and souvenirs from the museum.

The museum is a great place for kids and chocolate lovers. You can enjoy free tickets on your birthday. They will give you some tiny chocolate to enjoy. There was some information about the cocoa beans transition which was nice. Also, you can see the whole process of producing chocolate. There were also some ancient sculptures that were related to chocolate or cocoa. It’s worth watching it.

Bought our tickets online the day of our visit, thoroughly enjoyed this museum! Really interesting walk through that explains the origin of chocolate and how it’s made. Very educational and bonus you get to enjoy freshly made chocolate at the end. Also bought some chocolate from the gift shop which is all very delicious. We also took a rest at the attached cafe, where we enjoyed our drinks and chocolate cake. Really enjoyed our visit here!

It is a well designed museum with a lot happening there. As many others recommended, buy your ticket well in advance and if you're interested in a tour (I highly recommend one) buy it way way in advance. I booked the short course (30 min) that gave an overview of different stages of production with tasting (Yes! we tried a bean!). It was worth the extra 2.5 EUR for sure and was not too long. There's a green house with chocolate and banana trees that have fruits! I recommend going there if you're in Köln. Definitely one of the best things to do there.

Interesting museum definitely, some nice facts and the mini-factory was very interesting as an engineer, but in the end there’s only so much you can tell about chocolate. The current temporary exhibition is really cool, giving a voice to the people of color working at the cocoa plantations and earning very little for very hard work.

This was a great experience for the price (€31.50 for our whole family). There is so much information and history about the cocoa industry. If you have kiddos, make sure to pick up or scan in the quiz at the beginning for them to find the answers to as they travel through the museum. There are also a lot of games on kiosks throughout. It's worth watching once. The biggest disappointment was that the chocolate fountain was out of order. Being a chocolate museum, I feel they should have added multiple tasting junctions, specially for kids. But they don't have any, except the one at the beginning and end, but both are packed Lindt chocolates. Overall it's a good experience but can be made better with some productive modification.

I had a good time here. I would recommend getting tickets ahead of time because the line to get in can be slow and long. We tried coming on a Saturday and it was just way too busy, we came back on a Wednesday and it was much better. Still crazy with a lot of families. There was a lot of information and seeing the production area was informative. I really like the historical information on chocolates origins and the Mayan part of the exhibit. Architecture was pretty cool and the history surrounding the museum was interesting, but the cost of single ticket entry was way too expensive. When I go to a museum I expect to pay €5~6, but I've never been to a museum asking for €15. Not worth the squeeze. I can find all the information I want to learn about online.

The museum is run by the Schokoladenmuseum Köln GmbH. Since March 2006, the Swiss chocolate manufacturer Lindt & Sprüngli has been its partner in producing exhibits. Prior to that the partner was the Cologne chocolate producer Stollwerck, and the museum was formerly known as the Imhoff-Stollwerck-Museum. A small tropicarium, open to visitors, consisting of a glass cube 10 metres square houses cacao trees of the species Theobroma cacao and Theobroma grandiflorum. Miniature versions of machines used in the production of chocolate, allowing visitors to observe the process of making the small chocolate bars which are given out at the entrance. A special attraction is the 3-metre-high chocolate fountain; an employee dips wafers into the liquid chocolate and distributes them to the visitors. At the entrance of the museum is a shop with a wide range of chocolate products and pralines. In 2006, the chocolate museum entered a partnership deal with Lindt & Sprüngli, wherefore most of the products in the shop are Lindt & Sprüngli. This deal succeeded its previous one with the Cologne-based chocolate producer Stollwerck.

If you like chocolate then this is the right place, you will love it! Here you can learn from what is the cacao where is coming from, places where you can get the best cacao, even you can enter to a mini zone where they have living plants in controles environment. Of course you go trough to a production line and if you wish you can get some chocolate bars to taste the delicious flavor. There is workshops where you can do your own chocolate, you can order customer made chocolate bars and all about the history of the cacao in our planet. At the end of the visit you can stay at the restaurant inside the museum where they have delicious cakes of course many of them with chocolate and they have even cacao beer !!

During Corona time, it was such a disappointment to go there. Tropical room is closed, and you can’t really taste anything as other comments said. Plus, the tour they gave was all in German, we can understand nothing. I think it is really a bad style for a museum to be like this.

Vielleicht hilft ja diese Rezension was...

We expected for the price of the tickets a bit more from the exhibition. The background information's are quite poor. The first 3 rooms explains 3 times the harvesting of cacao (in a similar way). Many touch-screens, many gadgets to touch to have a feeling like it would be something interactive (but it isn't really interactive, just unhygienic to need every time to touch something to get information in Wikipedia quality). The production part is a bit better, but also with a bit flat information. The main part of the museum seems to be to sell the chocolate. The giveaway was like a joke.

Do you like chocolate? Who doesn't! This is the holy Mecca of the dark mistress of the cocoa bean. Learn everything you want to know about chocolate here. Eating the cafe! Ride the giant ferris wheel. And eat in the cafe. Bring your insulin, you're going to need it diabetics.

As the name suggest it's all about chocolate. You will get to learn about few plants and how cocoa is grown until the whole process of getting it to the chocolate factory. The machinery are displayed in which the working of each machine is been elaborated in details. Starting from adding Cocoa beans or roasting until turning them to your favourite Lindt Chocolate. You can see the live production right in front of you. There's a chocolate making school inside the museum where you can learn to make chocolate. On the first floor there is a chocolate studio where you can find pro chocolate chefs making chocolates and some displays of chocolate molds. The area also has one booth where you can take a chocolate card you can fill it up select 4 of the ingredients from the list and order them to make it for you it costs 4.90€. The second floor has some history on chocolate like the origins, chocolate making equipment of old times, old recipes of chocolate, old chocolate, and much more. There is a chocolate shop at the entrance which has to offer huge discount on certain products. You get some freebie Lindt chocolate from museum. The location is close to the Altstadt Köln I personally recommend to go there by foot if tourist or else take the cycle like open taxi to not miss the wonderful sights in Köln.

You will see each and every step of chocolate manufacturing, on the way you will be given wafer with chocolate which is fascinating and tasty. And when you finish the tour you can try the restaurant outside it’s nice as well. You can chick the photos and videos I have uploaded.

Great to travel with children since it was very educational. The tour shows how a chocolate is made, the history of the chocolate from an old store upto the oldest chocolate vending machine. You can also have your personalized chocolate bar for only €4.99. It was a nice experience. However they closes at 6pm i guess due to corona restrictions.

Nice location but not really as I expected. You can see the technology used to make chocolate, learn about the cocoa beans and taste some chocolate, but is minimal and not to clear. There's a shop at the exit so you can buy yourself some magnificent products or a Coffee shop to rest in. Outside, there's a terrace on which you can admire the beautiful Rhine river.

Oh my... This place, I'm telling you THIS PLACE is.. I don't have words for it. It's just incredible! I love chocolate and the history and this museum did not let me down. Your ticket comes with a little chocolate and then you are off to chocolate heaven. It contains the history from all over the world and the displays make it so easy to follow. Not only is it a fun and exciting experience, but it is very, very educational also. There's all sorts of different ways they make the history come alive. They just recently planted a cocoa tree in a small jungle area with foreign plants. There are games, movies and a lot of things to touch, listen read and play with. It's great for all ages. In the end you get to see how chocolate is made on real machines and you can get one of the samples. They give you chocolate samples as you walk through the museum and for only 5€ you can design a chocolate that they'll make just for you. I usually don't go to a museum twice, but I wanna go again! Entrance is 12,50€ per adult and it's totally worth the money to go. Don't miss out on this treasure!! 🍫🎈☺️

We found it too expensive for what you get... Nice history, detailed but expected more interactive exhibition. Few bits are broken ,botanical garden closed, fountain is not working, they tried to balance it with free chocolates at the end but still I don't think i would loose much if we don't go. Cafe is nice, good selection ,lovely view.

  • 4/5 Paweł M. 3 years ago on Google
A great museum, showing the long and complex history of chocolate in our civilization, as well as in Mezoamerica. But perhaps the museum should also touch on less pleasant topics, such as child slavery in African states producing cocoa beans... My next objection is that the the large windows in the interior are a little bit dirty. Eat chocolate, but be conscious of the notion of fair trade...

The view it’s a great surprise and the Grand Cafe is super cool. They have many options with Lindt, like hot chocolate, cakes, crepes and waffles. They also have a shop with many Lindt options. The price for the museum is €13,50.

Fun for the whole family. Everyone gets a little chocolate before you come in and at the end there’s a chocolate souvenir store where you’ll literally find ANY flavor of chocolate. The views from the museum are incredible. The museum also enlightened me about the horrible work environments in the countries where most of the chocolate is produced. Support fair trade cocoa !!!

A place to visit when you are in Klön. Kids will enjoy to see the process involved in making chocolate. Also you can order customised chocolate just prepared for you as per order. I felt the entrance fee is but high for what we get to see. Nice location by the side of the scenic river. Parking will be a challenge.

Must visit place for sweet tooths fans, which gives you detailed know how of chocolate manufacturing. Made more interesting with quiz and sample chocolates. Inside the Museum you have the option of customizing your own chocolate, taking home one for yourself. Recommended : Once inside, don't miss to visit rainforest area to get it's real feel. At the end don't miss Cafeteria where you grab a coffee and cake. You can shop for more chocolates.

  • 2/5 Jennifer L. 2 years ago on Google
The museum seems to be a time capsule itself, stuck in the mid 2000 with no updates in a while! Data on world stats are from 2010 -2014…a lot have changed in the world that for a top class museum as this one, should be updating with time. The different halls also seemed disjointed and I wish the entire journey would be a bit more whimsical and “chocolate factory” like. High expectations and if I came in 2010s, I would be very much expectation met but not in 2022. In addition, we got a combination ticket with the museum, Ferris wheel, and 2 for 1 gluwein drinks at the Christmas market. The ticket online promoted the market is till Jan 9th. When we got to the museum, seems like no staff member knows about this ticket offering and the Christmas market is already closed! This is false advertisement!! We had to settle for a small chocolate at the restaurant…it was a nice drink but not what we paid for! A big let down. Please remove this offering from your website ASAP and train your staff appropriately so you don’t have more disappointing customers.

  • 5/5 Abigail Christine C. 2 years ago on Google
Really sweet experience! They give some free Lindt chocolate when you enter, good for some sugar rush as you explore the museum. You can try some free chocolates at various chocolate stations. You get to see the process of making chocolate and you’ll also see some robotic machinery they use now. If you come in after 5pm, they have a ticket sale, since they close at 6pm. The chocolates in the store are also priced well.

  • 4/5 Eline Van E. 2 years ago on Google
This museum is definitely worth a visit. A museum with lots of interaction where you can even create your own chocolate bar. 🍫🤤 The downside here is that you have to wait a bit longer to do so... you can follow the whole process of how chocolate is made interspersed with a rather readable exhibition of ancient customs. Biggest minus here is that the toilets are very dirty ... but apart from that I really enjoyed the museum where I was for 3h inside!!

  • 5/5 April C. 2 years ago on Google
I wish I could take the smell of the museum and put it in my review...... even through my mask it smelled delicious. They were making all kinds of tasty goodies while we were walking through. We were given chocolates at entry and exit. They had a huge Lindt gift shop by the entrance. A must see when you are in Cologne/Köln.

  • 3/5 Jessica B. 2 years ago on Google
Interesting, but too pricey. The museum is filled with infos and curiosities about chocolate and it's production, but I don't think it's worth the price: $12,50 euros. You can know everything by watching a video on YT. The only really interesting part is the mini factory, were you can see how the chocolate is made and you're gifted some of it at the exit.

  • 3/5 Andrea G. 2 years ago on Google
Complete disappointment at the end. We had a great experience in the restaurant, the food was great, the waitress really friendly and at the end we ordered two pieces of cake. The size was completely acceptable for the price and as we enjoyed them so much, we decided to order two more pieces to go. For the same price we got half of what was served at the restaurant. Feels like a letdown at the end.

Must see for chocolate lovers. Can see that pre covid it has a lot of sampling going ard. Too bad now due to hygiene reasons there are no more sampling. Museum showcases how the chocolate trade started and evolved over the years. Chocolate store is a must go to get some special souvenirs. First time visitor note, as u exit the museum remember to take the free chocolates manufactured at the museum itself. Carpark gotta park across the road and walk over. For how long to park = Estimated time for browsing the museum and shopping for chocolates is around 1.5hours. Do spare another hour if u plan to eat at the cafe.

Beautiful history of chocolate making. The museum has other amazing artifacts from Latin American tribes. It's really a place to visit. I will visit again.

  • 4/5 Jacqueline W. 1 year ago on Google
Although it does have a lot of history available I am not sure I would have gone. It is interesting that they do show the process of making the small individual wrapped pieces and that that 1 machine makes 75,000 pieces a day. The old vending machines were great as well. Be aware that despite what some websites may say the Kolncard does not allow free entry only a discount on entry. With discount it will cost €9.50 entry and you also get a discount on the chocolate shop. If you are travelling back to the train station straight after you can get the 133 bus and will drop you off outside the Music Dome side of train station. If you are disabled it is accessible which is good and they have a lift to each floor.

We visited the Chocolate museum with my sisters and I have to say it was definitely something to see in Cologne. When we entered we got a piece of chocolate, then walk through the exhibition and the smell of chocolate gets stronger, until you arrive to the manufacture line. It doesn't get stronger, but you have a chance to try it- yummy! On top floor there's a whole room for kids with games and seats for adults. When leaving, you also get some souvenir- a few pieces of the little chocolate we just watched to be created. I would definitely recommend for families with children (or without). And Lindt- well, my favourite chocolate 😋

  • 5/5 Anna M. 1 year ago on Google
This is a magic place to visit for the whole family! You can see how the chocolate is made, plus you can make your own chocolate. Chocolate fountain available as well. Worth visiting! Buy tickets in advance, if you don't want to wait around 30-40min to enter.

  • 4/5 Busch S. 1 year ago on Google
Even when walking in the center and Kölner Dom, people do not get tired. The entrance fee is 11 €, it changes for a student or a child. I liked it. There is a small shop inside. You can buy souvenirs, but they are very expensive, in my opinion, cheaper ones can be found elsewhere.

  • 5/5 Laurent B. 11 months ago on Google
Interesting museum with a huge gift shop. Don't miss the cafe inside the food is delicious. Lots of good options from sweet to savoury and plenty even for vegans. We visited in November but it was still a nice sunny day so we sat outside along the Rhine it was lovely.

  • 4/5 Megan M. 9 months ago on Google
Couldn't pass up a museum dedicated to chocolate and Lindt chocolate at that. Do yourself a favor and buy your tickets online. We visited in June and so it was a very warm day in Cologne. This does have a bearing on the experience as not everything is air conditioned. The crowds were not bad. The exhibits within the museum were well done, providing fairly extensive background information on the production of chocolate delivered in various ways. It is a fairly small musuem and even if you stopped to wait for every sample along the way, it wouldn't take you more than an hour to see it all. I loved that the museum was very generous with samples. And really the highlight of the visit was the final stop in the Cafe where we indulged in delicious chocolate treats.

Chocolate Museum in Köln is located very close to the Cathedral / Dom next to the banks of river Rhine. The museum has a mini production unit which shows us how the Lindt chocolates are made. You will get to taste the end product as well. You would at least need 2-3 hours to enjoy the detailing in the museum. There is a gaming arena for kids on the topmost floor. Also a cafeteria on the ground. Worth the experience! Go for it 🍫😎

Chocolate treats for everyone who enters and exits the place ... Loved the place would love to visit again

Fun for the entire family. I think particularly those with children would do themselves a disservice by not going to this place. But even those who would perhaps have a grey hair more than they would like are still going to find something fun and educational in the visit. The tour is well laid out and you get great views of the city . Its a well spent time in Cologne.

  • 4/5 Matt W. 8 months ago on Google
If you’re a Lindt chocolate lover who wants a full fledged chocolate experience, look no further! The museum has everything from the history of chocolate from the BC era, to a greenhouse simulating the optimal cocoa growing environment with real cocoa trees growing inside! You’ll be able to watch chocolate making from raw ingredients to finished packaged chocolate bars in the Lindt factory experience, and you can even custom make a bar to pick up at the end of your visit! Plan on spending at least 1-2 hours here to really experience the Museum and all it has to offer. Would definitely consider buying tickets in advance to cut down on the wait time, especially on weekends (~30 min).

  • 4/5 Sherry C. 8 months ago on Google
The museum was interesting and the cafe inside was a delight! The museum is pretty hot inside make sure to wear something cool. There is a antique candy bar machine that still works and you can get a bar of chocolate for 1 euro. We got our tickets on Viator and happy since there was a long line going inside.

  • 5/5 Merritt G. 8 months ago on Google
We had a great time here. We bought a pass for the museum and ferris wheel. The museum is very informative. Plenty of free chocolate (I prefer dark chocolate so my daughter got mine!) The cafe inside was also good. The weather was very changeable so it was a perfect place to hide from the rain. Don't miss the ferris wheel! That was also a lot of fun.

This is an amazing place to be. Although there was a huge crowd both in and outside the museum you’ll love it there. So detailed illustration of how chocolate is made. You’ll also get small gifts both when going in, inside and when going outside. It’s a lovely experience

A must visit place for everyone irrespective of chocolate liking. This place shows you everything related to chocolate. How they are grown, what it needs, where it grows, how it blended into culture etc etc. There is also a quiz competition for kids. They need to answer some questions along the tour and submit later online. You get prizes sent to your home. They also have a chocolate assembly line where chocolates are being made and you can buy directly. Though we didn't had to wait for tickets, but could get really busy at times. Also they have combined tickets for the giant wheel. So if you plan to take a round in the wheel better buy a combo ticket.

It was a very nice experience especially because weather was very depressing that day so inside was quite refreshing and cozy with all the chocolate smell 🙂 we visited the museum with our two years old son and he enjoyed it so much therefore I can suggest the museum for families with kids. The interactive parts and tasting opportunities were quite interesting and adequate.

The chocolate museum provides you with interesting information about chocolate manufacturing with a small chocolate factory running inside. You get to taste a little bit of chocolate during the tour and see some old relics related to chocolate. There’s also a small beautiful tropical garden, a cafe with an amazing view and a chocolate shop. Overall I don’t think it’s a mist visit but still a beautiful place to be and a nice way to spend time. The ticket price could definitely be lower.

I love chocolate, especially lindt! Complimentary chocolate on arrival was happily received, then an interesting history of cocoa until the best part, the chocolate fountain and factory section. Samples of the liquid chocolate are handed out, I could've stayed in that section the whole time! I wasn't too bothered about the rest of the museum other than the complimentary chocolates upon leaving. The shop had an amazing selection too. Busy on weekends

It's a fun place to learn about some of the history of chocolate but the main attraction to me is the working production line that you get to walk through. Felt authentic, educational and fun.

A must do experience. Well worth the entrance fee. Really fascinating seeing chocolates made over a period of history and how brands have evolved. Seeing the Lindt chocolatiers in action and then seeing the machines make the slabs and package etc is so interesting. The plus is you can press certain buttons and get chocolate samples. Fun for adults and children!
