When you walk in and find the table set and a bottle of wine waiting, you know its going to be good, and it was. A great standard of accommodation, dressing gowns supplied for the hot tub, you will find soap/shampoo and loo paper. A basket of wood is left for the wood burner. Some of the lodges are Dog friendly, behind a gated entrance operated by a key and access number. Friendly staff, great location - with really handy riverside dog walks and 15 ish miles from Newcastle. 1 pub within (a steep) walk 15 mins (average food), other wise a short drive to amenities, 5 mins drive to a 2nd pub, the Anchor pub, where the food is superb. All good and exceptional value.

Manager Craig was extremely pleasant, helpful & a delight to deal with. The site is landscaped really well creating a lovely warm homely atmosphere. Arbeia Lodge was beautifully presented with small details very much appreciated like bottle of wine on arrival, robes, mini chocolates, complementary basket of fire wood. Hot tub was ready on arrival & checked throughout the week to make sure it was in good order. Beautiful views from the lodge. The only real negative was having a B road running just behind the lodge where the national speed limit sign is just before the site, so cars pick up speed passing the lodge right next to you, which could be quite loud (if you're outside sitting or in the hot tub, for example, not really noticeable from inside the lodge). The road does quieten down after 9.30pmish. But I suspect the lodge price rather reflects this. And therefore is good value for money. Overall highly recommended. Would stay again.

Absolutely stunning lodges, would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a luxury break in a nice peaceful area within a short drive to the metrocentre, they all have there own private hot tub and it didn’t disappoint, this along with the cozy log fire is enough to make you fall in love and want to return over and over again! Special thanks to the manager Craig who was very attentive to our needs and was always on call to help!

If the rooms & service is as good as it looks this will be a fantastic place to stay. I know the area well and it's a beautiful place to walk and holiday at. Beautiful countryside, countryside river walk minutes away. Perfect countryside holiday location. Woodland, River walk, hiking, metro centre shopping retail area short distance and easy to get to. Durham City, beamish. A broad ranging holiday location.

A wonderful location to allow you to relax and chill. The scenery is wonderful and the lodge has all you would want and more. The icing on the cake is the hot tub! 2 visits already and will definitely be back for more! Thanks to Craig for excellent service too.

Went for a Easter weekend with the family and my 2 year old grandson Noah. Noah is a very big child for 2 year old and the travel cot what Craig the manager of the lodges provided was a little too small but within 15 minutes Craig had gone to his house and got a blow up bed and pump for Noah...Craig does a fantastic job at the park and nothing is too much trouble the lodges are less than 12 months old and are fully equipped with everything you would need for a brilliant weekend with the people you love the locals are very friendly and if you like walks with your dogs or you're partner you'll love it. I was contemplating writing a horrible review because in my honest opinion when this place gets established we won't be able to get a booking. It's an hidden GEM
