First I thought visiting this place was a mistake, then I realized it was worth it as I can share the experience with you. Trai Ran Dong Tam claims to be one of the largest snake-raising centers in Vietnam, and as a nature lover I was hoping to learn more about these fascinating animals. The first disappointment came right after entering the park. Among shops with refreshments, there was a store with leather goods offering bags, belts and wallets made out of snake as well as crocodile skins. Unfortunately that was only the beginning. Following the path you would come to the first “attraction”. Two gibbons in a cage with no trees, no plants, no earth. Only metal, concrete and a shelter made out of rusty plates. Soon I realized the whole place is built like this. It was not a reservation and not even a zoo. It was an extremely cruel prison for animals. You do not have to be a zoologist to see how much the animals suffer in Trai Ran Dong Tam. And not only the gibbons. There were macaques with chains around their necks bound to trees. The chains were about one meter long so the monkeys could not move and did not even have access to water. Other macaques were kept in concrete cages without any trees, plants and places to hide. Two wild bengal cats were kept in a tiny cage with a wire mesh floor. They had only one wooden bench with nails coming out of it. A starved horse lived among plastic garbage. An ostrich with barely any feathers (likely due to boredom and stress). A majestic bengal tiger had a cage no bigger than 30 square meters. The same was the case for two Malaysian bears. Unfortunately the list continues and not even the snakes had better living conditions. There were hundreds of them all kept in extremely small concrete or metal cages that were found all over the park. There was no attention given to the needs of specific species, all of them were kept in the same, about 1 square meter big cages. You would not even find any information signs, so you would not know what you were looking at. The biggest snakes were kept in a building, treated as products rather living beings. Their cages were completely empty except for the bowls with water. Some had wooden floors, some had nothing but wire mesh instead. The snakes could not hide and could not properly move. Taxidermized snakes were exhibited in a building called “The museum of snakes”, along with a turtle, tiger and a few other species. The last terrible thing I saw in Trai Ran Dong Tam were two puppies chained to a tree painted to look like tigers. I dislike writing negative reviews and I am a positive person, but what I saw in this place was so sad and so cruel I think it is my duty to spread knowledge about it to as many people as possible. This place should be shut down. For me, it was also surprising to find the place to be operated by the Vietnamese military. Who else should be more responsible for the country and its nature than the government itself?

It is called a snake museum as there are about 400 species of snakes in the garden. Thousands of venomous snakes are chirping on the tree! All over the branches of the tree are not fruits and vegetables, but only poisonous snakes. Snakes are mostly green. Other colors and normal colors are also available. This snake garden has been built on a total of 30 hectares of land. Snakes are farmed in vast areas here for snakebite medicine, other medicinal preparations and research. Tourists flocked to see snakes in the garden. Every year about 1500 people come for snake bite treatment

"Snake farm" is a bit of an understatement for this place. This zoo has a huge selection of animals including a LOT of snakes, ostrich, fish, birds, bengal tigers, wallabies, bears, monkeys, crocodiles,... The park itself is well kept and tidy and the staff does its best to welcome guests and feed the animals, but the state of all of the cages is really deplorable. It's obvious there haven't been new investments in years and most of the animals are in cages that are really inadequate. Way too small, way too muddy, no natural elements, only concrete. The government should take over this place and invest a big amount of money to improve the animals' wellbeing. That way they could charge more on ticket prices, which I would happily pay to see the animals being treated better.

Skinny horses, monkeys taught to hang on their necks just to get treat, animals punched by sticks just to make them move, definetelly to small cages with concrete, steel and no green.. Really sad place, totally NOT RECOMMEND

A fun place for a family. Snake farm has other animals that you can feed. They sell vegetables and fruits for the animals to feed. Clean spacious zoo. A must visit place in Mekong Delta Dong Tam!! only an hour away from Ho chi minh city!!! After a boat ride at the Mekong you could drop by here to see the wild snakes of Vietnam and crocodiles too!!! entrance fee was cheap too!!

You would be disappointed if you want to see snakes. A very large area full of animals with a few snakes. This place specialises in the production of anti-venom and treatment of snake bite victims in its on site hospital, but you cant see any of that. You can have your photo taken with a large python or 2. Relax on the ‘lawn’ and have a bite to eat. Some junk food available at the shop.

DISGUSTING. Please avoid at all costs. We only lasted 10 minutes in there before we couldn’t bare to witness anymore animal cruelty. I have never seen so much animal cruelty. Enclosures way too small for the animals, monkeys chained to trees, bears mentally unstable. This place is a nightmare and I can’t believe families walk around with their children and thinking this is okay!! I cannot put into words how heartbreaking this place is and it needs to be shut down. Don’t be mislead by the five star reviews, they are not real but are generated by bots. Please avoid.

Want to give zero stars. This is animal torture. It grossed us out. Please don't go here. Very small cages, depressed animals. Dirty water for crocodiles, they cannot even swim, too little water and space. Snakes in tiny cages. Monkeys chained to trees. Monkeys in cages with no puzzles or toys. Snacking on plastic. Horrible. Made me terribly sad.

Do not visit this place. It’s advertised as a snake farm but is a zoo. The worst conditions for animals I’ve ever seen. Monkeys chained to trees. Deformed bears with horrible skin conditions, crooked teeth and facial structures and clearly with some sort of mental condition rocking left and right at the cage trying to get out. All the animals cages are filthy with no stimulation just concrete and metal bars. They are clearly not cleaned as the water bowls are so old it has turnt green with algae. One of the worst things I’ve seen.. Vietnam should be ashamed! To top it off there was a dog chained within a tiny cage unable to even walk the whole cage, distressed with sores over its neck from trying to get out of the chain. I could go on as there’s many mistreated animals here but you get the picture. AVOID! It needs shutting down

Such bad, awful conditions the animals are kept in! It's a shame that even covid restrictions didn't change these people's minds; they didn't realize how awful it is to live in jail. The cages ate tiny, the water dirty and sturdy for water creatures. The animals should live in nature. It wrenched our hearts to visit this place. Somebody, knock to the hearts of this place owners.

Large area, pleasant 'gardens', but depressing living conditions of most of the animals! In some cases it was 'pure cruelty'. Big! snakes in very small wire cages, some less than...1m². Very disappointed with this..."ZOO". I really pity the animals, most of them!!!

There was not many snake's, to see, at the time on my visit. It was more like a zoo really. But still a pleasant area to see.

Cobras, krait and some highly venomous listed in the Vietnam’s Red Data Book are bred in special cages in the shape of holes or small shelters in the wild nature. Those snakes are very dangerous even can kill people with their venom. When opening the cages’ doors to feed them, the keeper must be extremely careful so that the hungry snakes don’t dash out of the cages and attack him. Not only that, the keeper also takes good care of the snakes to ensure they are always healthy. If you have had an idea that snakes are scary and extremely dangerous, Dong Tam Snake Farm will help change your thought and opinion. Actually, there are lots of snake species that are quite friendly and not venomous. You can play with them and know more about their wildlife. If you are lucky enough, you can witness venom extraction from experts.

Good place to stop when going to or coming back from Mekong Delta (for people in HCMC). The 30k (20k/kid) entrance fee is nothing and there are quite a lot of animals. It seems to be well maintained (but hard to tell as a visitor).

Really good place to understand how snake is living. They also have other animals like ostrich, bird, crocodile.... You will know how to deal when snake bites.
