One of, if not the best campground around. The lots are very big. They are all shaded. There is a bike trail, basketball court, play grounds, a nice calm small lake for kayaks and paddle boats, there is a nice swim beach. It is very close to the river and the damm which is fun to look at. Itโ€™s overall just an amazing place. Our favorite

The campsites are small and quaint with beautiful cottonwood tree coverage. Some larger campers might have trouble with size of pads and the areas of levelness can cause issues. Some comfort stations/bathrooms are smaller but the newer ones are huge and easily accommodate the groups in that area well. Walking trails to the north and south along the river, are paved for bikes, walking, etc and are extremely wide for easy passing other patrons. Overall a good park and will always recommend

We visit our friends who camp for a week every year at Chief White Crane. Beautiful campground. Even when it completely full, the campground is not chaotic or noisy. The facilities are always stocked and cleaned daily. The views are amazing and it is such a relaxing atmosphere. The prices did go up even for day passes from last year. It was $6 for the day 4pm to 4pm.

Again, 100 plus degrees!! not pleasant!! nobody at this nice campground in mid August, probably because of the heat. but we were here to get me a South Dakota license. Went to the DMV in Yankton and they couldn't have been nicer! Campground, we had a lakeside spot. Actually went swimming at the beach across the way. It was nice and refreshing!! Several shower bath houses, all clean and nice. Really nice campground, windy, sites were level, huge trees, not many bugs. Trails for biking were great. We biked 2 miles to the fish hatchery, cool aquarium, but nobody there to talk to. Camp hosts were real nice, thanks Mark and Rita (marguerita!!) Quiet when we were there, some kayaks and SUPs in the lake. It was big, and clear. Big Missouri river and dam were close!! Saw lots of wild turkeys, they are always entertaining.

Our favorite campground in Yankton! Beautiful sunsets on the water. Kayaking and fishing from our camp spot. Walking distance to fishing from docks. Nice beach is a short bike ride away.

One of our favorite campgrounds, hands down. The campground gets its name from the large cottonwood trees that provide ample shade and wind protection throughout the entire campground. First three loops of campsites are the original layout of the park with the last loop being the most recently added. This last loop is more secluded from the rest of the park and does not enjoy the see through views you get in the first loops. Keep that in mind as the breeze and air movement is almost nonexistant back there on hot humid days. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly and mostly updated and are free for campers. Grass is always mowed down and firepits cleaned out also. Great campground!!

I loved this state park. Good bicycling. The aquarium is very interesting. Closes on Labor Day but I got a special tour. Thanks PA buddy!

SD park on lake Yankton. About 100 pads with 30/50 elec. No water at each. Hydrants at modern restrooms with showers. Most have good shade. Quite a few right on water and cabins with AC/ heat. I like the location by Lake Yankton, just below the powerhouse. It's secluded below the dam with the bluffs and trees sheltering from strong winds. Easy to get to, all the typical restrooms, new play sets, lake from old river channel, cabins, swim beach, lots of shade, gorgeous views, with the bike path running thru.

Absolutely beautiful campground! Clean showers! Great water pressure in the showers! The only reason Iโ€™m giving the 3 stars is due the fact the campground host failed to drive thru and let people party and play music loud as can be until 12-1 am when I was there to fish the paddlefish opener so I was up early. I was happy. I would have went and got them but they would have known who it was and since I was staying in the tent I did not feel safe doing so. Once they left the next day it was a great stay the rest of the time!

Great spot for camping. Clean, well kept, and lots of parks for kids in the area. There's a nice swim beach in the lake. You can fish the river side or the lakeside.

Beautiful campground! Sites are very large and mostly level. Mature cottonwood trees that provide for a lot of shade and many are perfect for hanging a hammock.

It's been a long 20 years since I was here last. Still one of the most relaxing places I've been. Truly hope to live in Yankton some day.

This is a very nice campground and recreation area. Nice mature trees to help shade the area well. There are electric hookups and a dump out and water fill station there. The camp sites are spaced out nicely so you are not cramped in. They have a playground and sand volleyball court. They have paved paths attaching to roads so you can bike, run or walk around the lake. The lake is nice and shallow along the side opposite of the river. Makes it nice for kids to play in, kayak, paddle board and swim in. There is a sand beach for swimming on the side by the river. We didn't go to it, but it looked nice. There are small cabins you can rent that can sleep 5 and have a window A/C, electric outlets and a table and shelf inside. There is a nice deck attached that has a couple benches by the door that are covered and a large picnic table on the uncovered part. They have modern bathhouses that were seemed fairly well keep up. Definitely worth a stay at. You can go see the damn and spillway right by there.

We love coming here as a family. The beautiful cottonwoods whisper in the wind, making the whole place very peaceful. Other campers are not too close and the shower facilities are very clean. This week the kids caught 11 fish! Pretty fun for first time fishermen!

Very clean. Very spacious, where u donโ€™t feel like youโ€™re right on top of each other. Big cottonwood to provide shade. Bike and walking paths. Playground for the kiddos. They also have little cabins.

Beautiful place to stay with large camping spots. Paved, level pads for parking with plenty of space even for our 36โ€™ rig. Pet, kid, and family friendly. We stayed Sun-Tues. park was clean with plenty of space for kids to play, beach and swimming area, fishing, hikes, etc. firewood available for purchase. Staff was super friendly and present. Wonderful views of the sunset. Quiet and super peaceful. Very cool spot to check out the dam and jumping paddle fish. There were basketball courts and cute little cabins available. The vehicle pass parking thing was a little confusing and an additional price on top of your camping reservation but overall worth every penny!! Canโ€™t wait to come back again! A++
