It's really a great place to visit. You can hear, or even see everything about pearl by visiting their pearl farm. Widely entrance into enough space to park your car and for your whole family members to move around, and more than one restroom for you. More than 20feet health inspected sun shelted boat to cruise you along the pearl farm. It's amazing to meet hardworking males and females in all departments. Lastly, you will be proud to buy a piece of treasure after you clearly started with from the hatchery to the show room. Trust me! See you there.
A good tour, if a little overpriced at 60 FJD each. Julia knew her script well, and it was interesting to learn how long and complex the pearl making process is. Going out in the boat was nice, if only to see more of Savusavu bay. Snorkelling to see the giant clams was good, saw lots of tropical fish as well.
Omg 😲... way overpriced. I can buy Mikimotos for less.
Verpasste Chance. Dafür gingen wir zum Split Rock schnorcheln. Man kann da vom Strand super schnorcheln.
Overall not worth the money. We got no tour of the hatchery. We went on the boat where apparently the highlight was snorkeling at ‘split rock’ but actually anyone can swim to this site from the roadside. Lastly we were supposed to eat oysters on the boat and were literally rationed two apiece - whatever remained in the box (presumably prepared for us, the paying customers) seems to have been consumed by the staff while we snorkeled. I did wonder why they ignored our preference to eat the oysters after our swim and instead encouraged us to ‘try some now’ - in retrospect was it a ruse to allow them to eat the remainder? At any rate two oysters apiece, a quick boat ride to split rock with a stop en route to watch some workers cleaning the oysters, NOT WORTH IT.
Good pearls and services
Great selection of precious pearls. Pricey but they are all authentic
Good place to learn
WARNING Do not buy pearls here. These are scam prices. Anyone having done a bit of research and looked at prices will know that the pearls which they ask thousands of dollars for here are not Grade A and can be found considerably cheaper elsewhere. It is also a giveaway that necklaces and other jewellery worth USD 3,000 are lying loose in a paper box together with other jewellery. It also makes no sense that a pearl costing thousands of US-dollars is mounted on a steel penchant.
The talk in the shop was good and nice getting out in the water to see the farms. The ropes and oysters are a little too deep to really see when snorkeling. The snorkel stop at split rock was absolutely amazing.
Was closed on a long weeked. Not fancy. Doesn't portray value.
Worth doing the tour but once done, one can be convinced first hand after witnessing the appalling working conditions. Specifically, the women who work under a tarpaulin shed, cleaning the nursery clams. The place is isolated, stinks with hundreds of flies everywhere. The workers though are brave enough to put up a smile. The products in the showroom are well presented but seem overpriced.
Beautiful Country
