It was real fun to enjoy the Preety old Punakha Suspension Bridge even though this has been restored and modified by the government to make it more sturdy and strong... You should definitely visit this Bridge and also enjoy Tea or some snacks or even Beer at the restaurants on tge other end of the Bridge... Two rivers are meeting here Da Chu and Fu Chu, hence it becomes fierce over this place... It is also very close to the River Rafting joints...

We reached the bridge from the Punakha Dzong side. It has a capacity of 500 pedestrians. When we reached in the middle of the bridge it swing a bit which is little uncomfortable. The scenic beauty is breath taking. On the other side there is a cafe also, one can chill out .

I have been thinking to myself why this bridge is tourist spot. I wouldn't have missed much if our package tour skipped it. But then most people find it picturesque. Good for them! It's a five to seven minutes walk from the parking. And you can find fresh juice on the other side.

I was very excited to visit this suspension bridge at Punakha which is the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan. The bridge was initially constructed to connect the two villages and now this place has become one of the major tourist attractions in Bhutan. The entire span of the bridge is covered with colourful prayer flags which makes the bridge look vibrant, you can get to see the panorama view of the river along with the mountain range. It was super windy and the bridge was shaking but believe me it was one of the thrilling experiences. We walk around the other side where you can have tea or coffee at the small cafes. The suspension bridge is near the Punakha Dzong and you have to walk a little before reaching the start point of the bridge. There is no entry fee to enter the bridge and experience the thrill.

This suspension bridge is very sturdy. It’s walking distance from Punakha Dzong. It’s more than 500 foot long. One side of the bridge hangs colourful flags. There are eateries on the other side. The bridge will definitely shake when people are walking on it. The river current is strong but peaceful

After punakha zhong..we set our next visit to this beautiful creation..the suspension bridge..ample parking is available about half a km before this uneven terrain footpath. Breathing natu..seeing wild plants...singing along we reached here in 10 minutes. There is no entry fee..it feels like a nice adventure...walking along..a flowing river sets the tone.awesome ...the bridge I could see a village and people are very friendly...we enjoyed every view and there is a small shop selling snacks and cucumber near the parking. Good point in iternary..worth a visit

Punakha Dzong Suspension Bridge is an important part of the architectural history of Bhutan as it was built to connect the villages of Shengana, Samdingkha and Wangkha to the Palace of the Wangchuk Kings. The bridge was built as the Dzong lies in the confluence of the rivers Po Chu and Mo Chu rivers and is vulnerable to the flash floods caused by the glacier lakes. This hanging bridge in Bhutan is draped with prayer flags all along and provides a perfect spot for bird watching and nature photography not to mention the panic attacks it gives to a few visitors as it sways a bit due to the strong winds from the flowing river beneath.

One of the oldest and longest suspension bridge in Bhutan. It's around 200 meters in length over phochu river. It's take 5 mins walk from cremation parking and 2 mins walk if you take your car through rough road. One of the iconic place in Punakha district.

Its a picturesque bridge over the river Po Chhu. The clean water down makes it even magnificent. Some says its the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan. From the bridge, you can get a spectacular view of the Po Chhu river (male river) and the valley.

In Punakha, Bhutan, the Punakha Suspension Bridge is a breathtaking feat that masterfully combines spiritual significance with natural splendor. Stretching elegantly over the lively Mo Chhu River, it is one of Bhutan's longest suspension bridges and links the small villages of Punakha Dzongkhag. This bridge embodies Bhutan's tranquil beauty and rich cultural legacy, serving as both a useful route and a stunning tourist attraction. As soon as one approaches the bridge, one is mesmerized by the breathtaking display of vibrant Buddhist prayer flags lining its entire length. The flags, gently billowing in the wind, provide a striking pop of color amidst the verdant mountains and shimmering river in the distance. Praises and mantras are emblazoned on every flag, thought to disperse blessings and goodwill with every breeze. This improves the overall experience of crossing the bridge by fostering a peaceful, reflective atmosphere. The bridge itself is an example of traditional Bhutanese engineering, fusing sturdy metalwork with a style that blends in with the natural environment. Crossing the Punakha Suspension Bridge by foot is an incredible experience. An amazing journey is made possible by the soft sway of the bridge beneath your feet, the sound of the river rushing below, and the expansive views of the valley and far-off mountains. For those who enjoy taking pictures, this location is ideal as it provides ample chances to capture the essence of Bhutanese culture and natural beauty. Since it links the villages across the river to Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan's most ancient and exquisite dzongs, the bridge has historical significance. This connection emphasizes how important the bridge is to preserving neighborhood ties and promoting regional trade. The Punakha Suspension Bridge is a destination unto itself, not just a means of transportation. It is an absolute must-visit for anyone visiting Bhutan because it provides a special fusion of spiritual contemplation, adventure, and natural beauty. This bridge promises to be a memorable and enlightening experience for anyone who loves beautiful landscapes, hikes frequently, or is simply seeking spiritual guidance.

I recently visited the Punakha Suspension Bridge in Bhutan, and it was a remarkable experience. This iconic bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan, stretches between 160 to 180 meters over the Po Chhu River. It's about a 15-minute walk from the Punakha Dzong, making it easily accessible. The bridge is adorned with colorful prayer flags, adding to its picturesque charm and spiritual ambiance. Crossing it is quite thrilling as it sways slightly in the wind, giving a mild adrenaline rush. Despite this, it feels stable and safe, thanks to the solid construction and cables anchored in large cement blocks. The views from the bridge are spectacular. You get a breathtaking panorama of the river and the lush valley, framed by the majestic mountains. The serenity of the place is truly captivating, with the sound of the flowing river and the sight of the fluttering flags creating a peaceful atmosphere. After crossing the bridge, you can enjoy some tea and snacks at a small shop nearby, making for a perfect spot to relax and soak in the beauty of the surroundings. The best times to visit are during summer and winter, as the weather is ideal and the experience is more enjoyable without the hindrance of rain. Overall, the Punakha Suspension Bridge is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Bhutan. Its combination of natural beauty, architectural significance, and the sheer thrill of crossing it makes it a highlight of the trip.

The Punakha suspension bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan. Originally it was planned to connect a remote village, however now it has become a tourist attraction. It is built on a river and provides very beautiful view of nature. From the bus stop, you need to walk around 500m to reach this bridge. There is no ticket. You can go other side and visit a caffe. While walking, you may feel the suspension. Many people may be fearful, but don't worry - it is very strong. Just hold the side ropes. It is also an engineering marvel to appreciate.

Initial feeling of a bit of hesitation or mild fear in walking over this narrow and long bow like suspension bridge, high over a river, disappeared and turned into sheer childlike joy as we (all senior citizens) took a few steps onto this bridge. The swivels were gentle, beauty all around mesmerizing... the narrow bridge started looking wider, and the length of the bridge became immaterial. It turned out to be an exhilerating experience for us all. There is a charming quaint square at the other end of the bridge, with a couple of typical Bhutanese restaurants and a store. Having lunch at one of these family run restaurants was a wonderful experience. I was keen to know the history of this engineering marvel, as to when and how it was built, who built it, etc, but could not find any related information. I suggest they provide this information on a board at the entry point of the bridge.

The bridge is on a very picturesque river and the adjacent mountains and the literally pollution-free environment make it an awesome experience! However, the walk to the bridge needs to be sorted and ought to be paved to enable the ease of reaching (walking) to the bridge!

The second-longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, Punakha Suspension Bridge is perched over the Mo Chhu and Po Chhu (river) and is about 160-180 meters in length. It is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the world that connects Punakha Dzongkhag to the rest of the valley. Believed to be built by Thangtong Gyalpo, the bridge has undergone several years of renovation. It has an integral part in the architectural history of Bhutan as it was built to connect the villages of Samdingkha and Wangkha by the kings of Wangchuk. The bridge is beautifully draped with prayer flags and makes a perfect spot for bird watching and photography. Although it is built sturdily, it shakes when winds blow strongly, and that is when the thrill is at its zenith.

Punakha suspension bridge is the the longest suspension bridge found in Bhutan which is located in Punakha near pho Chhu river. If I am not mistaken suspension bridge would be around 300m in length connecting two valley together. People usually visit this place for a photoshoot or leisure time. But people with height phobia it will be a great problem as u might have some headache or feels like vomiting 🤮. Rest it's a beautiful day to spend time here .

It's a must visit place in Punakha, it's better to visit during 4.30-5pm so that the bridge is almost empty. Punakha suspension bridge which is the second longest suspension bridge in Bhutan and connects the old administrative centre of Punakha Dzongkhag to the rest of the valley. One of the oldest suspension bridges in the world, Punakha Suspension Bridge in Bhutan was believed to be built by the Buddhist Monk, Thangtong Gyalpo. Over the years it has undergone its share of refurbishment but it was once one of the eight bridges that served as the precursor to many of our modern suspension bridges. Punakha suspension brudge length is 160 metres! Gyalpo chain bridges did not include the suspended wooden deck and this makes walking across the bridge quite a thrilling experience.
