The space is (somewhat) grandiose and predisposes one nicely but there are simply too many fails that dampen the experience. The sound for starters was not particularly impressive. There are metal bars placed on eye level, hindering the viewing experience, at seats that are supposed to be premium. The far ends of the seating rows are blocked, thus aggravating access and movement flow. The ticketing system is a nightmare and so is the parking ticketing (beyond unacceptable). There is infinite room for improvement.

A masterpiece of architecture and landscape design, Athens' new Opera house and the National Library is a must for those who enjoy contemporary architecture. The complex has a terrace has a panoramic view of Athens and Phaliron bay and is surrounded by a Mediterranean park.

Lady Macbeth-October 24th, 2023 Great orchestra and chorus!!! The soloists were also very good, but there were no melodic lines for them, something that would have left you humming or whistling the next day. I am not a fan of Russian singers, and that style of singing. My personal preference is the belcanto style of singing. The Russian singer for me has a raw and uncultured sound, however I did appreciate and enjoy the entire production, especially the extreme dynamics of the orchestra. My last positive comment is about the voice of the father-in-law of Katya. He did not seem to have that Slavic sound.

Stunning building with good facilities. The acoustic is over if the best heard in a new hall. I went with a professional musician from London who repeatedly commented on the very high standard of performance and at such a low ticket price. A wonderful place to spend an evening.

The new opera house of Greece is magnificent! It is part of Stavros Niarchos Cultural Centre that includes a huge park and the national library. Tickets are inexpensive and some times they offer performances with free admission. In front of the building you can enjoy the dancing fountains, the latest addition of this amazing park. Highly recommended.

We normally do not go for coffee or for a walk when going to the opera or any theatre for that reason but this foundation has grounds which are a spectacle and you can have every everthing under one roof. It's actually the best place any family or couple or even alone go and enjoy. I admit the area may be located centrally but it seems your in another city. It takes you away from it all with its archetecture and its design internally. Probably one of the must sees in Athens, which is not ancient, and is worth every minute there. If we are speaking about it as a hall, then you can only close your eyes and imagine a newly built arena with the highest standards. The one picture you see below is myself with a soloist from an evening I went to hear Gershwin. Oh, did I mention there is parking as well? So if your in town, give yourself some spirited time off and go check it out. It's free!
