This family-friendly destination could be better. The guide map is printed only in Greek. Parking and security personnel gave instructions only in Greek. We were confused when we entered the wrong line to the parking structure. We were confused about how to pay for parking. And we were confused about where to show our vaccination records before we could enter the lighthouse. Due to COVID-19, the library is closed to visitors who want to warm up and wait for the fountain display. The fountain display does not operate between 3 and 6pm. The fountain schedule should be posted where it would be easy for visitors to find. I didn't realize that it features different music at different times. We got there at 4:30 and waited for the 6:00 "show", which was only 1 song. Nevertheless, we enjoyed viewing the gardens, light sculptures, and fountain display. We would recommend offering more cultural activities. The parking was expensive for the limited activities that were available to the public in early December.

This place is a must for visitors. I think that the SNFCC is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Athens. The architecture is great and the atmosphere relaxing and beautiful. You can go there for a walk around the park, to grab a coffee and catch some beautiful views of the city or even study in the study halls and visit the library. The Greek National Opera is also inside the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre and is a new and modern opera where you can attend some performances. Lots of actions and events are organized throughout the year. You should check the center’s website for more information. The SNFCC has many gardens and places to chill out and also some coffee shops and restaurants with a good variety of products pretty good prices. The overall experience is great.

What a place! Super kids friendly place great for a visit with the whole family. The beautifully made exterior full of nice pathways, trees, playgrounds and other interesting sight. Not to mention the interior. The library, the whole building. Wow! Worth a full day visit!

I am glad I've learned about this place before coming to Athens and dedicated several hours to visit it. If you are a tourist and don't have a car rented, brace your self to walk a kilometer or so from the nearest bus stop up to this center as the bus is the only option public transport option to get here. But it's absolutely worth it. The architecture is so light and monumental at the same time. It's fusion of the building with the roof top olive trees garden that melts into the huge park won't leave anyone indifferent. It's a good place for families with children, youngsters on bikes and skates, friends and dogs - everyone will find their place here to relax. Especially on weekends the people just flood the space around and that's very cool. I felt like a local walking the passes in the park, enjoying the panoramic roof top sea view and getting some crepes at the van near the exit as there are so many locals hanging out while all the tourists queue up at the Acropolis. The place is definitely worth visiting, just be ready to spend there at least two-three hours to get some break from the intense pace of the Athens city center

A gorgeous place in Athens. Great to relax, take a stroll in the park, grab a coffee or do any of the many activities that you are able to do there! The park is really good and the there are many places to grab a coffee or something go eat. The view from the roof is astonishing too. Probably I am gonna visit soon to relax and read a book while enjoying the view! Totally recommended for an escape from the city!

Modern venue for opera, theatre, etc. A Mediterranean plants park and a large water feature make this a nice place to visit, beyond its artistic productions. A couple of restaurants are on the venue but you should make sure to book if you’re visiting during busy hours of the day.

The place was huge and it had a spot to view the whole Athens from the top floor of the building covered with glass all around. The library was huge as well and there were spots for people to work and discuss. The cafe on the first floor was cozy and quite crowded at the time of my visit, but it was nice there. The only missing thing was an access from the top floor indoor to the outdoor area which would be really nice to view the beach and the other parts of the city. But my guess is it was closed due to an on-going event on the top floor that time. Overall, you can spend your whole day there just enjoying the moment and place reading books (indoor or outdoor in the garden) or talking with your friends event until late night.

This is a nice surprise close to the sea in Athens. The building itself is absolutely gorgeous, along with the library, cafes and botanical garden. One could come for the view itself, for a walk, or even to read a book in this wonderful place. And the best part, it is for free!

An exquisite landmark, with many hidden spots that may go unnoticed. We joined the free tour and we really loved what we learned about the place. The roof top veranda was magnificent. Try and be there for the fountain show on ground level.

Amazing cultural centre, a true jewel in Europe. Being in the library is a unique experience. The fountains are great to watch as water dances to Swan lake music. You can walk around the park, ice skate, enjoy a coffee and relax in great surroundings. The building is exceptional.

Very beautiful cultural center with a lot of cool events through the whole year! Amazing library, but unfortunately many books you cannot read - you need special permission for it. Really great place to go for a walk and relax. I wasn't much impressed with a garden, but overall I really liked this place. Also it has great view from the rooftop! Definitely you should visit!

My favorite modern building in Athens by far! Every time I've visited or had a someone visit me while I was at DEREE during Erasmus (study abroad) I would take them here. From food trucks to cafes and a wonderful park with outdoor exhibits it's a great place to spend some of the day or to study/work.

Nice space and a huge library. As for now (January 2022) you can go inside the library only if you’re vaccinated, but still there’s a lot of space to walk around such as garden and viewpoint at the top. Very nice place to watch sunset

Its always a beautiful idea to spend some time outdoors. So refreshing to be surrounded by nature, plenty of areas to walk, ride a bike or scooter. Designated running track and outdoor gym equipment to help keep you in shape. Musical tiles to soothe the soul and mind. Outdoor chess, fountains, it's all such a full body and mind experience.

Definitely worth the time to visit the place. Beautiful architecture and for sure something that you won't see very often in Athens, due to the lack of big investments in new infrastructure. It's a nice place to go and spent some time, especially during the afternoon in the park and the view deck. Inside the building are located the national library and opera house.

Very nice complex with unique and thoughtful design. The library is wonderful and larger than expected. Many good food choices and exceptional gardens and exercise opportunities. Great place to bring kids. Make sure to visit the "light house" which is more a large observation deck. Check out the long distance binoculars for a great view of the Parthenon.

Nice place to hangout with kids and probably for all age groups. It has a lot of open space for kids to roam about. It has a nice old and huge Greek library. Fountain gets turned on for only a few mins after a specific time interval which I found little weird. But it's one of the main attractions, I got to shoot nice photos. I felt the food being served there is not that good.

A beautiful installment pretty recently built. Perfect for a walk with your friends or your family during the day and the night. Huge park with many pathways and hidden Easter eggs hidden around. Amazing view from many places. An artificial lake with trees around and a small restaurant at the end of it. The building is very modern, again with great views and disabled accessible. Outside many events are held that are worth attending to. All in all great experience, i recommend.

Great place to spend with family. If you are visiting Athens I believe it is a must destination with panoramic views of the city. A pinnacle of culture and art in Athens, housing the Greek National Opera, as well as the Greek National library which is open to the public for reading, research and various exhibitions. Amazing view of the Athenian seaside from the top of the main building and a majestic landscape to explore in its gardens. Cafe/restaurant on site, as well as street food choices. Easily accessible by public transport or by car. Must do for locals or not.

  • 5/5 Maria B. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing park with plenty of gardens and places to stroll. Perfect location to go with kids, to have a picnic or just to enjoy the nature at the park behind the main building. There is available a big parking garage where you can charge your vehicle if you want. In the main building there is the national opera, where you can enjoy plays, musicals and ballet. You can also use the amazingly big library or just use a space there to read anything in quite. There are plenty of options around for food and coffee. Must visited!

I love Renzo piano’ architecture, impressive in all is angles. From the outdoor musical dancing fountain, and a sloping park created by an artificial hill, connect the ground to the roof of the building, where you can enjoy the magnificent view of the sea. From the inside the incredible theatre and the library.

Lovely location. The national library had an art exhibit and it is a beautiful building. There was an art installation near the reflexing pool that apparently changes. Nice public bathrooms as well in case you are in need (in the library).

At last! A new landmark in Athens that its main feature is not ancient Greece whatsoever. It is such an open, welcoming, culture generating space that the 21st-century Greece has been in so much need for. A minimalistic structure with large bare surfaces, with an immaculate concrete finish (R.Piano & Salini). The exterior is pure Mediterranean nature, the landscape and the smell of rosemary and lavender is fascinating! The orientation of the plot, as you stand at the green roof, directing you in a straight line from Acropolis rock to the blue of the sea, is just phenomenal. We visited the Centre not having an event to attend, just walking and enjoying the sun, and the experience was unique. A must-see when in Athens, even moreso if interested in modern structures.

It is difficult to find with no reference on Trip Advisor, so you'll need to Google for full details. This quite remarkable structure has 4 key features. It houses the National Library (many additional side projects are on display); the National Opera, the gardens, and a water feature. The gardens are remarkable as they cover the roof of the building. The size and quality of the architecture are amazing. And absolutely no crowds.

Stavros Niarchos Park, is a vibrant and captivating green oasis that seamlessly blends nature, art, and recreation. Spanning over 210,000 square meters, this sprawling urban park offers a delightful escape from the bustling city. The park is characterized by its innovative landscape architecture and sustainable features. Lush green lawns, meandering paths, and vibrant flower beds create a picturesque setting, inviting you to relax, unwind, and connect with nature. The park's centerpiece is the magnificent Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, a state-of-the-art complex that houses the National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera. The sleek and modern design of the center is a sight to behold, harmoniously blending with the park's natural surroundings. Stavros Niarchos Park also hosts a wide range of cultural events, including concerts, exhibitions, and outdoor performances, adding a dynamic and artistic touch to the park's atmosphere. Whether it's strolling along the tranquil pathways, enjoying a picnic, or immersing oneself in the rich cultural offerings, Stavros Niarchos Park is a true gem of Athens, providing a serene and enchanting experience for locals and visitors alike.

Great cultural center. The Mediterranean garden feels amazing. It lost one star from me because the side southeast of the canal seems still underdeveloped. Also the roof bar could be more welcoming. Long common tables that promote sharing are badly needed in Athens in general.

A cultural center plus Athens public library located just underneath a man made hill full of beautiful pathways of local flowers and trees. On the top terrace of the building you can get an amazing panoramic view of athens. The building is surrounded by a beautiful park definitely worth visiting. Big plus the dancing fountains just outside the building entrance!

It's a very nice place to go for a walk with friends, family or other half. It has a great view of Athens up top and a place where you can get coffee or a drink. Access by car or public transport is easy. You have to pay for the car park. It is a good open space to relax or enjoy a coffee, possible the best park style place in Athens. Good for families too with safe spaces for children to run around and play. Playgrounds in the gardens are very good for both preschool and older children. 2 limitions, as with every place in Greece accessibility is a second though for people with physical disabilities or for parents with prams. You will have to lift a lot as there are not enough rumps. Also food options are limited so best to come prepared with young children. Overall great experience.

Don’t leave Athens without visiting. It is indeed a place offering culture and class. Walk, rent a bike, eat at The Canal café, listen to the music while the fountains dance, read a book at the national library, smell the flowers, enjoy the temporary exhibitions. There something to satisfy every sense. A true jewel.

The place is beautiful but it is so crowded one cannot even walk, not to mention see anything so the visit soon becomes a nightmare. The cafeterias are far too small and few to accommodate all those people who come to visit and would like to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee or just to sit somewhere and relax. We were happy to get away from this overcrowded and noisy place that sadly defeats its purpose. Will not visit again.

There is something for everyone here. I have a great respect for this foundation and what they are accomplishing. The building is very well designed. It houses the National Opera House, public library, charming gift shop with tasteful Greek designer items (would love to see more). There are often events going on all year round for all ages so check their website. Also, their staff are super organized and professional. Love it.
