Amazing place! Best venison burger I've ever had

The view and the setting are amazing. And the best food we’ve had in Norway - vegetarian too! The lady who ran it was incredibly friendly, took us out back to pick hazelnuts, and chatted to us for ages about the area. Highly recommend!

This is a historic family farm that is now a multipurpose venue. The views are stunning. Friendly service. Nice food. The atmosphere you won’t forget ; and of course you can take the best swing picture you’ll ever have in your life. A must visit. This weekend they have the rock festival also !!

I wish I could give 6 stars of 5 possible to Christian Gaard in Trandal. A wise person said, "They may forget what you said - but they will never forget how you made them feel. "During our two day stay I got a firm impression that the family running the place and the whole team around them is living this value. A place worth the journey like Christian Gaard is not only about the location and its surroundings. Both different and spectacular, located inside what many deem to be the worlds most beautiful fjord. It is also about what you feel being there. And I guess when you leave the latter one is what is most sticky. The family running the place and the team really has a “can do attitude” and a positive spin on being there to help and make you feel welcome – in a way that at least I very rarely have the good fortune to come across. Christian Gaard in its current form is itself a place that should not have existed, was it not for the dog stubborn will of its founder- a change maker – like most places need them, but do not dare to provide the space to let them act. In defying convention, opposition and local authorities with their rules and regulation. Savour the story and bring parts of it home with you. Today the will feed you well, quench your thirst, house you in one fashion or another, and may need be transport you by sea or land – all with a smile and enthusiasm. If the timing is right you may even enjoy one of their 3 music festivals or just a live band one evening. Go there, explore, feel alive live and enjoy!

Just a truly cool place with authentic history in a magnificient location. Warm, friendly hosts who cook up really good food. Highly recommend the brown cheese ice cream with cloudberry. Tasteful decor and use of space which reflected the founder's vision against all odds. A must visit when you are in the Alesund-Geiranger region.

Absolutely charming restaurant with delicious food, astounding views and incredibly nice people. Family owned! Also the best tree swing in the world.

Talk about Farm to table! Linda is such an incredible host! This was my first time trying deer, 90% lean, super juicy. Perfect seasoned, chef's kiss. Restaurant quality that feels like home. We had an amazing dog tour guide named Lucy. She walked us almost all the way to our ferry. I hear Lucy is working most day! Don't forget to visit the goats

The food came very late because they served our orders to a different table. They did not have a system. We waited for more than an hour for our food to arrive. And the staff didnt even give us utensils. When we asked for them, she just said to get them ourselves.
