What a find! Lots of reserved signs, so I count myself lucky to have got a table. The food was excellent! Really well cooked and thoughtfully combined local ingredients.

The starter mackerel was delicious. The best mackerel I’ve ever had in my life. The veal for the main course was nice as well, served with lots of fresh and uncommon vegetables. However, I tasted my friend’s main course, fresh catch of fish, and I think the fish was a little too salty. My friend and I didn’t enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the starter. Despite being so, the restaurant was still a great place for dinner. Waitresses were friendly and gave detailed instructions to every dish. All dishes were plated beautifully as well.

Lovely cosy place, we loved our food(scallops, veal and kid goat) and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. A thoroughly enjoyable dinner! We would happily recommend this to our friends and family 😊

Amazing! My fiance and I came here for dinner when we were in Bergen. The food was delicious and they have only one pescatarian option, but the menu is small, only three choices because it changes based on what is in season! I got cod and he got veal. The desserts are not to be missed!!

Fantastic Nordic cuisine in a cozy setting, and well worth the price. The wine pairing with the triple menu also gave us the chance to try some pretty unique wines which went amazingly with the food.

Wine Pairing Menu Price = $46 USD ($500 NOK) Value (retail) = $13-$18 Markup = 250% - 360% This has been a trickier one to analyze because the markup on alcohol in Norway is so high. Usually I base the price on what it would cost for me to recreate the experience at home in San Francisco (w/ obviously much simpler food). As it's grown, the goal changed to bringing more transparency to wine pairings menus. This makes me want to make it less centered around me and more about anyone, from any country, who might visit the restaurant. If this is the case, taking into account the markup of alcohol in Norway is key. This was a 3 course pairing. The first two glasses were 4.5 ounces of a local dry cider that's $17 a bottle retail. The second glass was a South African Pinot Noir that was $30 locally. The last was a half class of French sauterne that ranged in locally (hence the range). In pricing this out, at one point the Sauterne was $84 a bottle in Norway, but you could get it in California or France for $30. FWIW, 2 months later, I'm able to find it for $36 at the Vinomonopolet in Norway (yes, it's the full 75cL). We had a friend go by the glass and it was a much better value. He also got higher quality wine (IMHO). They were able to find us room for a last minute reservation for a party of 4 which I truly appreciate. Generally the service was a little slow. We had almost finished the cider by the time the first course came. The food was good, but not remarkable. I wouldn't go out of my way for this place, but you won't be disappointed if you end up here.

We popped in for supper after a long day in the fjords and we’re not disappointed. Both catch of the day and the veal were excellent. Likewise, wine was delicious. Atmosphere warm and nice, service good. We enjoyed the meal a lot, it was prepared and served with a lot of inspiration. Also would like to mention a great price to quality ration as compared to other places in Bergen. The menu had only three mains, and it was a good sign, as each dish was cooked to perfection.

A fantastic culinary experience in Bergen. We started with e crab soup which was creamy and flavorful. Our party had the veal, chicken, and catch of the day (Hake) dishes. Each was unique, delicately flavored, and fantastic. The strawberry yogurt ice cream was an excellent refreshing dessert. The restaurant is small so a reservation is a must.

Great place, good food, wish we could substitute the meat course for seafood in the set menu. We sat by the window and it's a little drafty there but the place has a great atmosphere. Service somewhat slow but friendly.

If you want something really special in Bergen, you should try this restaurant with its sophisticated cuisine with mostly local ingredients. We took the three-course-set menu which was absolutely fabulous!

(Translated by Google) The restaurant Spisekroken offers a small menu with changing dishes. The dishes convince by their freshness as well as their quality. Both the beef and the lamb were extremely tender. The extensive drinks menu leaves nothing to be desired. You get a great selection of champagne, wine, beer, soft drinks and dessert wines. The dishes can be selected a la carte or as a menu with or without wine / juice expertise. Larger groups can easily find space in the basement. However, a reservation should be made regardless of the number of people. Even on a Wednesday evening, this location is well visited. Highly recommended are the Norwegian specialties. Highly recommended and definitely worth a visit, if you come to Bergen.

We went here on a Tuesday night and were lucky to have a table without booking in advance. The a la carte menu consisted of three starters, three main courses and three desserts, or you can choose to have the fixed three course menu. I chose the three course menu accompanied by the juice pack and didn't regret that choice for a second! The dishes looked and tasted fantastic and each of the three juices was tasty and supplemented the dish very well. The waitress was friendly and was able to describe all of the dishes fluently in English. Great experience!

High quality place, but lackluster service and weak vegetarian solution*. Wine was very good. Would recommend for a non-vegetarian group. *The starter was a cress salad with potato sticks and cheese (very nice), The main was crispy jerusalem artichokes, potatoes, beets, pickled red onions and kale. Seemed last minute and lacking in culinary harmony and/or vision, more of an ensemble of sides and root vegetables and ready-made conserves, and eating a meal consisting mainly of root vegetables is a little bit of a let-down, even for a long time disappointee and vegetarian.

A small and cosy restaurant with a simple but very good menu at a reasonable price. It can get quite crowded, so booking in advance is recommended. The atmosphere is rustic and simple. There is a downstairs room, but upstairs is nicer. The food is mostly locally produced, which is very good. Fish and meat mostly - this is not a vegetarian-friendly place. The service is OK, but this is definitely an area that could be improved upon.

We had an excellent dinner at Spisekroken! We ordered the scallops, catch of the day (hake), and chocolate dream for dessert. All of the food was fresh and used seasonal ingredients. Great atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and thoughtfully prepared food!

Tonight we had excellent dinner at Spisekroken. First Sugar salted halibut with lemonmayonnaisse and pickled fennel. Then the fresh catch of the day with creay squash with dill, oyster mushroom and sour cream. I believe it was cod. And finally chocolade dream with blackcurrant sorbet. The best was the halibut with fennel. Nice atmosphere and very good service.

Happy I came across this quaint spot, booked a few days in advance. Dinner was delicious, everything cooked and presented with such care. I had the duck breast fillet for starter, cod for main and plum tart and sorbet for dessert. Honestly delicious, so fresh! The waiter (I unfortunately didn’t catch his name) provided fantastic service. If I was ever in Bergen again, I would dine there again!

Welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. Terrific service. The food was excellent. Mackerel was tasty, fatty, and salty just right. White fish was tender and melt in your mouth. The veal was tender, cooked right, and flavorful. For desert, we shared rhubarb cake and espresso. The wine list is relatively extensive with nice nice selection of Rhone wines.

  • 5/5 Juliette F. 9 months ago on Google
Lovely! We had the 3-course dinner and it did not disappoint. Such a friendly staff to welcome us. 3 small starters were served after some bread. The veal as main course was delicious and was quite big as a portion. Three small desserts were served. The only regret we have is not to opt for the wine menu that accompanies the courses.

Loved this little place. Food and wine was excellent and the lady who runs it was charming. It is small upstairs, so you must book in advance. People were frequently turned away. There is a downstairs which would be cosy out of season, but is not great in the summer.

Best meal we had in Norway - every bite was amazing. Staff was friendly and attentive. Wine list was extensive and, surprisingly, not overly expensive. The chicken dish, surprisingly, was one of the best I’ve had in a long time.

A very fine address with a menu featuring homemade and local products. The veal was tender and succulent! A well-stocked wine list! Reservations are essential for a delicious meal! Please note that the menu changes regularly.

Service was great, though the food was rather disappointing. The pork and fish mains were far too salty. Starters and dessert were just mediocre. Though the soup was decent. The room was also very hot which was uncomfortable

The set meny has a main and 3 starters and 3 desserts, hence a 7 course meny and 5 wine taste meny at a bargain. Red fish main a bit dry, fermented røye devine, crayfish soup oerfect, and very tasty experience. Table by the door was a cold experience. Luckily the hiphop music was not all evening

(Translated by Google) Intimate and not too big. Nordic and very pleasant decor. They don't have a huge choice of dishes, but the ones they offer are done to perfection! Highly recommended the menu with three small appetizers, main course and three small desserts .. really very very tasty! If you want, you can also do a wine tasting with each course. Very nice and helpful waiter. Prices in line with Norwegian prices. Not to be missed when in Bergen! Recommended (Original) Locale intimo e non troppo grande. Arredatura nordica e molto piacevole. Delicious restaurant in the heart of Bergen. All dishes made with local, seasonal ingredients. My favorite part was when the waiter told us that they make a different, unique butter every day since the chef says the first thing a customer eats at a restaurant is the bread and butter. It has to be fantastic! Definitely worth a visit.

  • 4/5 Ben 6 years ago on Google
Expensive, but great food. I got the veal. It was much tougher than expected, but the combination of flavors was nice. I also got the Santa Kristina ham, which was excellent. My friend got the fresh fish with pickled fennel, which was also very good.

  • 4/5 Ling L. 5 years ago on Google
I loved the complimentary bread, served with their homemade fluffy spring onion butter. Be careful not to eat all the bread before your mains are served...which we regretedly did because it was so delicious... The king crab starter had a crisp vinegar taste which I really enjoyed - a good soury touch with the potato puree. Their speciality veal did not disappoint at all! It's a must try dish at this restaurant and ask the waitress/waiter the best way the meat should be eaten - I recall it was probably medium rare. The veal was cooked to a perfect tenderness and it was well-seasoned. We also tried their Christmas special dish - the salted lamb ribs. As the name entails, it was extremely salty which we soon ceased to enjoy despite the lovely taste. The saltyness could not be diluted with any other food. It was a bit disappointing as we had some really nice salted lamb in Tromso (Bardus bistro). Overall, food was nice in spite of the fault in the lamb dish. The waitress was friendly and explained the dishes well.

Really flavourful and bold tastes! We tried the Fjord shrimps baked in garlic, fennel and shrimp, Chicken Leg and Duck Leg, and were really happy with every dish, especially the shrimps. Service was warm and welcoming (no eyebrows raised with us being in shorts and slippers). Great find in a charming neighbourhood.
