We’ll kept facilities and gorgeous views. Plenty of good hiking and rock climbing if you’re adventurous. Entering from the 10 freeway avoids a long line to get in, though that also puts you farthest from the best parts.

I am in love with this place!! Great scenery, make sure to plan out any trails you are planning to explore in advance and that is according to your level. Take a lot of water, sunscreen and good shoes if you are planning on walking. And… please for the love of good take a camera with you. This place is worth so much more time to explore. These formations are amazing and if you have the chance to climb any please do so.

This is a gorgeous National Park. I've visited a couple of times over the years and always have a good time. Beautiful scenery and great to get out in nature. Nice place to stop by if you are visiting the Palm Springs area.

Very unique place. There is a whole lot to see here. We were only able to visit a couple places and it was really hot but enjoyed it none the less. Do some research and pick the hikes you want. I recommend the chollas cactus garden and the lost palms hike. They were really cool.also I recommend going early in the morning or closer to evening when it's cooler out.

Unique landscapes, easy hikes, weird trees. I would say that most of the things can be seen within one day, but probably more pleasant to stay for a night in a town nearby and then devote two days. Most of the hikes are very clearly marked and don’t need special footwear. Pack layers as it gets cold fast in the winter.

If you love sunsets and superb views of them, then this is the place to be. Take your time and explore.Oh did I mention? Visit in the winter fora chance to see stunning snow covered Joshua Trees (Not a tree, actually a succulent that grows very slowly like 3 inches a year.)

A wonderful national park with a variety of desert plants, animals, and beautiful scenery. It has many kinds of trails for hiking, jogging, and riding bikes. In sunny days, you can have a chance to view a spectacular sunset at the top of mountains. It is super windy and sunburned in winter, so be sure to wear warm clothes and use sunscreen products frequently. Lots of campgrounds are available here. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

One if the most magical and enchanted places on earth. Other worldly. The rock formations and size is impressive and the trees are huge!!! California has the best trees. you can’t beat the variety of landscapes here. This is the reason people fall in love with the desert. The sunsets are spectacular too. Plan a vacation or day trip around this park for sure.

Joshua Tree National Park is a mesmerizing destination that defies expectations and captivates the senses! As a seasoned traveler, I've explored many landscapes, but none compare to the unique allure of this national park. The endemic Joshua trees stand as sentinels, casting an otherworldly charm over the vast desert landscape. The alien rock formations add to the park's mystique, inviting exploration and contemplation. However, it's during the magical hours of sunrise and sunset that Joshua Tree truly shines, painting the sky with breathtaking hues and casting long, dramatic shadows across the desert floor. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, photographer, or simply seeking adventure, Joshua Tree National Park promises an unforgettable experience unlike any other in the United States.

Made a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park and it was amazing. I would recommend trying to spend multiple days here so you're not in such a rush at each place. Lots of unique rock formations and places to boulder. Make sure to bring sunscreen because most of all the trails will be fully exposed.

Great park to ride a motorcycle through, the roads in the surrounding area are also great. Do try to go early as possible to avoid all the cars. You can also camp here and see an amazing view of stars. Joshua tree is a designated dark sky site.

Best place to visit for those who love desert adventure. A huge park with beautiful roads & no shelters, no shades, no greenery. Lots of sand Trails. One can see are rocks of all shapes & sizes, cactus & desert trees only. Totally dry area, absolutely no water. Not a place to visit on a hot day and definitely not in Summer. Lovers of Rocks must & should dash to this place.

One of the most mesmerizing places in the world. A must see and definitely a must experience place. If you can you definitely should spend a few days here camping. Great hikes. Jaw-dropping views. Amazing star filled sky at night. Be aware though that camping spots are just a few. No water or electricity hook-ups. No general stores in the park.

Exploring the park is a visual feast, with unique rock formations and diverse landscapes that capture the essence of nature's beauty. This is our favorite national park of all (visited 25 so far). Been here 3 times during winter, fall and spring and each time it’s a different experience. My kids loved to hike up Ryan mountain this time around (it is a bit on the strenuous side due the steep inclines). There is so much to do here…recommend at least a couple of days. Relax, unwind, disconnect and enjoy our beautiful National Parks!

Seeing Joshua tree’s in person for the first time was really cool. The park also has really nice boulders, some of which are actually fun to climb. I highly recommend visiting this park if you’re in Southern California.

Big and beautiful national park! Must visit for the bucket list. The park is massive so may need a couple days to see it all. Keys view would be the must see spot which gives panoramic views of the south side of the park. Prime photo spot and only a short(2-5 minutes) walk up some stairs

Absolutely awe inspiring!! Spent a couple nights out in Joshua Tree with a full moon and spectacular views. Plenty of rock climbing and trails. The wildlife is abundant and there are plenty of convenient restrooms throughout. Take the time to look up in the evenings. Without light pollution the stars are astonishing!

Stunning! I was absolutely amazed at the scenery and the majestic Joshua Trees! I grew up in the desert and this place is amazing! The desert is an amazing place and each area has something to explore and see. There is alot to see and do! It is a very large park! You can drive straight though in about an hour to 90 minutes if you never get out of your car. Or you can spend a week be exploring! We spent two days and that was not enough!!!

Not the most exciting park I’ve ever been to but definitely made for a nice day trip. Unique views & pleasant hikes. Would recommend a visit!

Due to the heat, we did not walk around much. However, it was still a great drive. Dogs cannot go anywhere other than parking lots. Bring lots of water and have a plan to stay cool. The dark skies were wonderful, and sunset in the cactus garden was beautiful.

What an amazing place! Inside the park, with its different desert ecosystems, it is amazing to see the diversity of life and geology. No wonder this place attracts visitors from around the world. The rangers are very friendly and super informative, suggesting the best areas to visit and things to notice. It is doable to see a good portion of the park in a 3-4 hour drive from the southern entrance to the northwest, Joshua Tree, entrance with some short walks to check out the exhibits.

Great park to visit. Well maintained and beautiful. We came in via the off-road entrance in the southwestern part of the park and it was amazing. Sheep Pass Campground is a beautiful group campsite. Days in the summer are hot but evenings are pleasant.

What an incredible and beautiful place. Everywhere you turn it's just majestic. I'm not even that much of a desert lover and it's just mind blowing gorgeous and the same place looks differently magical depending on the time of the day. Hikes range from super east strolls to very difficult verticals. Definitely worth the trip!

This is a great park for both kids and adults! There are lots of rock climbing and bouldering to do. The Joshua Tree forests and the Mojave/Colorado deserts are unique. There are lots of hiking trails to choose from based on your comfort level. Highly recommend hiking the Split Rock Trail and the Arch trail. Many of the campgrounds in the inner park are mostly for small RVs, but some are nestled against the rocks. Jumbo or Belle campgrounds are worth looking at. If you've never been to JOTR, then you're in for a real treat. Highly recommend spending at least one day in the park.

Hands down my favorite national Park to go to although it might be the only national Park I've ever been to. I didn't think I liked the desert until I was able to visit this park and it is beautiful beyond compare. I wondered how all of these little clumps of rocks ended up here. Easy to drive through without getting lost and I hope to return one day to camp just for one night.

Absolutely beautiful. You could spend a lifetime exploring this park. It is huge with many day use and overnight camping areas. Be prepared to drive, as all the sites are bit far apart. Bring plenty of water and snacks, there are none in the park and it IS a desert. Restrooms are at day use areas. Snakes are common in hotter months so exercise caution when climbing among the rocks. That being said there are lots of rock climbing routes, great for both bouldering and line climbers. The day use areas are the most family-friendly, with lots of non-strenuous hikes. Because of this, these areas are the most populated. If you're looking for less people, you can just pull over anywhere and start exploring. If you camp overnight, I suggest camping off the ground (just my own opinion) because scorpions come out at night. 😬 A word of caution: flash flooding is extremely common and it's best to leave at any sign of weather.

Beautiful nature with rocks of all sizes, bushes, trails and of course unique Joshua trees. Thanks to paved roads you can get anywhere and when it’s really hot (like it was at the time of our visit) you don’t have to spend a lot of time outside and just drive through the whole park making small stops to take a look around. Be sure to bring lot of water!

So worth it! Definitely go and visit. Be aware that the desert heat gets very intense, so be prepared with plenty of water. Generally hike in the morning and evening when the heat isn’t as bad. Also was a great spot to watch the meteor shower, but it was a long line trying to get in!

I have been visiting Joshua Tree National Park for many years. I am a professional Photographer and this is my favorite place to take pictures. The natural beauty of this amazing place is breathtaking. I feel so at peace when I am here. We love to go hiking on the numerous hiking trails. We also just enjoy driving through the park. Be prepared when you come with extra water and food. Make sure you have plenty of gas before you enter the park. The nearest gas station is about 5 miles from the entrance on the East side of the park. The gas prices there were very expensive, about 50% higher than other gas stations. There is no cell service inside the park, unless you have a satellite phone. The best time of the year to visit is February through May. The weather is usually really good during these months. We will continue to visit Joshua Tree National Park again soon. I love all of the memories we have made together as a family

One of my favorite national parks for hiking, picnicking, and Sunday drives. There is always another pullout that calls to you to take in the vistas and unusual rock formations. There’s a photo op around every corner.

Spent the week exploring the entire park. The heat was terrible during the day but absolutely worth it to see all the sights. Drove up and down through everything we could in the time we had! From sunrise to sunset and in between its absolutely beautiful. The stars are insane and the quiet is peaceful.

My quick trip through Joshua Tree National Park on the way from the Grand Canyon to Los Angeles was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Driving through the park was like entering another world. The unique and surreal landscape of Joshua Tree is unlike anything I've seen before. The rugged rock formations and the iconic Joshua trees themselves were a sight to behold. I didn't have a lot of time to explore, but I managed to stop at a few key spots like Keys View and Skull Rock. Keys View offered breathtaking panoramic vistas of the Coachella Valley and the Salton Sea. And Skull Rock was a quirky rock formation that made for a fun photo stop. The drive itself was scenic, and the Joshua Tree landscape seemed to change with every turn. It was a reminder of the incredible natural beauty that the United States has to offer. However, I must mention that the time constraints of a quick trip didn't allow me to fully immerse myself in the park's offerings. I would have loved to hike some of the trails or stargaze at night, which Joshua Tree is renowned for. All in all, this brief journey through Joshua Tree National Park left me with a deep appreciation for the beauty of the American Southwest. It's a place that deserves more time and exploration, and I hope to return someday to experience it fully.

A must see if you are in the greater Los Angeles Area. Just 2 hours by Car. Joshua Tree and Surroundings are just amazing. And do stop at Pioneer's Town which has a great Saloon where Sir Paul McCartney played with his Band.

The resources and hiking opportunities at this Park are fabulous. The visitor center we went to was a little chaotic due to the number of people inside, and the campground was pretty worn down from all the visitation it gets. Stay away from the people-places and this Park is top-notch for desert-lovers!

I go to Joshua Tree often. Nighttime is amazing, it’s a dark Dark Sky Park. This means very little light pollution which makes for awesome night hikes. This is when you will see the bobcats, coyotes and even tarantulas. The bouldering here is awesome and so many different formations to explore. Many sites are right off the road and easy to get to whereas you will need a 4x4 to do geology road.

What a bizarre and amazing place. Moonscape like atmosphere, cool rock formations, and good hiking. Many turnouts and the road surface/condition is excellent. There is no fuel in the park ,so fill up prior. Dogs are Not allowed in the park, due to the potential of disruption of the natural wildlife.

We went in mid-August just before golden hour and it wasn’t too hot. The second day we witnessed a storm, lightning in the desert is a beautiful sight. The park is massive and it’s important to have an idea of what you want to see prior to entering the park to make sure you have enough time. There was a long lineup to get in. Service is very spotty so download your maps ahead of time to access them offline. You always hear about how beautiful Joshua Tree is, but it’s something else to actually witness it. I highly recommend making it out there! A spiritual hotspot.

Such an amazing park! We hiked in the morning and took time off between 11:30 and 3/4pm because it is too hot in that time to hike enjoyably. We also cycled in the park on the roads and the cars were very friendly.

An incredible experience for whoever likes nature and dowsnt mind the heat. We have camped before and it's actually a lot of fun. The wild life comes out at night to day hello and the plant life is always vibrant. From the trees to the flowers everything is full of life even in the desert.

Gorgeous National Park! I have never been to a desert before so it was quite an experience. There is so so so much area to cover and explore. BRING WATER, sunglasses, and sunscreen. We went in February and it still is kinda toasty around that time. I highly recommend catching the sunset views. There is nothing like it and the beauty is mesmerizing! If you like to stargaze the sky is filled with them and you will probably catch a couple of shooting/ falling stars in the time.

AMAZING park, this is the kind of places that photos can’t show you how great it is, before going there I was kind of “nah”, now I can say that you MUST go there. A very underrated National Park that I recommend doing if you’re in the area or are thinking of checking out. We camped out at the jumbo rocks campground and we loved it! Such nice scenery. 29 palms is only 20 min away so you’re not too far out from supplies.

Had a great two day visit here. Lots to see. Easy access and great day hikes. If you’re here to climb you have already heard how good it is. Be careful on the dirt roads as there are stupid people driving trucks at out of control speeds.

Joshua Tree National Park is a true desert wonderland, offering an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike. The park's unique landscape, characterized by its iconic Joshua trees, massive rock formations, and clear night skies, creates a sense of awe and inspiration. I had the privilege of exploring various trails, each leading to its own breathtaking vistas and hidden treasures. Whether you're into hiking, rock climbing, stargazing, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the desert, Joshua Tree National Park has it all. One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to witness the remarkable sunrise and sunset views. The play of colors across the desert landscape is a sight to behold, and I found myself captivated by the ever-changing beauty of this place. It's worth noting that while the park offers an incredible experience, it can get quite hot during the day, so it's advisable to plan your outdoor activities accordingly and bring plenty of water. Also, be prepared for fluctuating temperatures, as desert nights can be surprisingly chilly. Despite the harsh environment, the park is well-maintained, with informative visitor centers and well-marked trails. The rangers are knowledgeable and helpful, ensuring that visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience. In summary, Joshua Tree National Park is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates the natural wonders of the desert. It's a place of solitude, adventure, and unparalleled beauty. Whether you're an avid hiker, a rock climber, or a casual observer of the wonders of the natural world, this park has something for everyone. It's a true jewel of the American Southwest and a testament to the remarkable diversity of our national parks.

Really different vibe from other National Parks I've been to. Less infrastructure but it's very easy to navigate. The plants and rocks are AMAZING! Joshua Trees are very unique. You can climb/scramble on a lot of the rock formations. Worth a visit. We stayed in Yucca Valley nearby, which was very convenient.

Of Course an awesome & great camping ground and hiking area in the midst of wild desert and full of beautiful boulders. This place is full of awesomeness of beautiful nature, mining sites, natural awesome rock formations & desert life. This place is huge and has much to offer. My family enjoyed every moment of our stay here. The views of different times of the day has different vibes & apeal. If you are a nature lover, this is a must go wonder to explore for you. Over all tgis is an awesome place. Be aware that this place has no water supply & services. Restrooms are scattered all around near the site-seeing parking lots and camping grounds but they are port-a-potty style. (Have to be tolerant to poop smells to use them😉) But, the camping spots are a little small compared to other national camp ground spots. All the parkings there by the camping sites are very congested. There are several restrooms, they are clean but no water facilities. Best for RV than just tent campings. The night sky is fabulous & breath taking. Recommending binoculars for stargazing. You should not miss gazing at the night sky. There is much to do, see, explore & much more to do here. Highly recommended from me.

Really unique but not easy to navigate I went to Joshua Tree and was "wow"ed by the unique plant life. I went to an area called "Hidden Valley" which was very beautiful, it was just not very easy to know where to walk or look. A lot of the park is connected with roads, and I had no phone service here, so I drove around a lot looking for cool stuff. Which there was! There was a lot to see. Also, it is dry there. Be prepared for extreme heat and a lack of shade/water.

Awesome park, and so much bigger than I anticipated. Driving into the park was crazy, there’s a mix of NPS land and private residences on your way into the park but once you get there it opens up in such an impressive manner. The north end of the park has some great trails and the trees and rock structures are so different than anything else. It is so awesome to see in person. We drove out the south entrance and there are some cool OHV trails for folks who are into that. The other cactus gardens were really cool to see and there is a point where the Colorado desert and Mojave desert meet which is such a neat thing. To see the different ecosystems blended together was something very different. Definitely a must see if you are in the area. If you have time, take the “longer” hike to skull rock. So many people park right off the street but if you head into one of the campgrounds there is a short hike that is super easy and great fun and you get to see some of the small wildlife in the area!

Sheep Pass campground, site 3. I first stayed there with the Lads 30 plus years ago on the very eve of the Landers quake & it was wild times to be sure. The next time that I was back at site 3 was 10 years after that when I rolled out with the Dudes. And now , some 30 years later I just experienced the same site 3 with my wife. We/she had a great time & the park was gorgeous and flourishing. Our hat is off to the staff for keeping J Tree clean as can be. Well done! I was dreading the morning outhouse experience of yesteryear but was so pleased to see the upgrades to the park's facilities. Yes, no running water but clean & no typical odors so a major improvement has been made and I can say, it was greatly appreciated. A couple of tips - bring WAY more water than you think. Water to drink, water to rinse & or wipe down with AND water to put out your fire. I had 3 gallons just for putting out the fire & it was not enough... I had to also smother it with sand to be safe and certain. Another thing to mention for those who have it in em to go exploring & free climbing on the rocks is to BRING GLOVES. The rocks are super cool to explore but are most abrasive to the touch so put on gloves & forget about it or, have scraped up aching hands for a few days. Either way, make the plan & head out for a night. The stars alone will rock your world.
