After several trips to Palm Springs we finally got to visit the museum… and it was a great experience. Huge selection of planes to get up close and look at, all sorts of memorabilia, and very helpful staff/volunteers that are more than happy to provide extra information. The highlight was to go inside the B-17 Flying Fortress ($5/pp donation). The tour through it was great, the gal who guided us was very friendly… and my son just loved checking out the plane from the inside. Only negatives I’d say would be the flight simulators… they are a combination of PCs loaded with games in a dusty library/archive room… or the bigger one in the hangar which seemed too complex for a kid to use. Discounts for adults (AAA/CAA), kids free w/paid adult. Overall, a great visit! ✈️🚁

I used to love going here as a kid, and the place has really grown. We definitely enjoyed our time there. The docents are quite knowledgeable and many are veterans. They have a sizable collection there. We really enjoyed seeing some of the planes fly. You can actually pay to ride around in some of the aircraft. They have adequate parking, so you shouldn't have any issues there. Plus, they also have a number of aircraft out front for you to view for free.

I spent about 2 hours in this small museum and it was worth it. When I went there, it was Indepent Day. I didn't expect the museum to be open that day, and it was open for business as usual. The ticket price for adults is $22, and the service staff inside are all elderly. It is estimated that they are all volunteers. It feels very cordial. There are also planes and models at the door, you can take pictures, there are many models of fighter jets, as well as F117 stealth fighter jets, various audio-visual materials, pictures, and explanations. Very good experience, the key is that there are not many people visiting and it is not crowded. You can also take a plane experience every Saturday, the price is from $125-$4995, depending on how much you are willing to pay and what kind of plane you take to experience. Awesome.

Absolutely an amazing experience. We were lucky enough to be there when Col. Robert Lilac was there. Each week, the museum opens a plane for guests to sit on the cockpit. Knowledgeable, charming, and informative, we had a wonderful time. The museum is outstanding. It’s filled with treasures that are not to be missed. It makes you proud to be an American to see these artifacts. The museum offers a respite from the heat, with food and air conditioning. Do not come to Palm Springs without a visit. The interactive offerings, the beautiful displays, and the top notch staff make it a once in a lifetime event. Go!!

We visited here a few years ago and loved it! Not only did they have a huge selection of WW2 planes they had lots of post war planes that were really impressive and well kept. They also had docents that would guide you and tell you all about the aircrafts add other memorabilia. I recommend this for anyone interested in aircraft. Simply fascinating. A wonderful museum with expert docents to answer your questions on any of the aircraft. I took the guided tour of one their B17s. Such a great perspective on the Airmen who literally over Europe in WW2. All the exhibits are grouped in hangars based on the era and place the aircraft flew. It makes for a spacious and relaxed tour of the aircraft.

Hands down the best air museum in California. The static displays are very accessible, and the aircraft are all in great condition, many of which are currently being restored. What’s also great are the many learning displays on various battles, paintings all throughout the museum, and the cafe offers amazing food. Easily spent 2.5 hours here looking around.

2022-Oct. Lots of parking. The staff are really nice. There is a Cafe, souvenir shop, flight simulator (extra $25 for about 10 minutes) and restrooms inside. Lots of war planes that was beautifully maintained! Please give a thumbs up if this review helped you. Have a great visit!

Fabulous museum! Such a wide variety of aircraft in excellent condition, very cool to be next to the airport runway, planes were outdoors as well as indoors. Wonderful exhibits, so well prepared and creatively designed. Docents were outstanding!!!! So well informed, friendly, enthusiastic, a true joy to spend time with them. The museum also offers select opportunities to fly in certain planes for varying fees. Plan to spend a minimum of 3 hours to do justice to this beautiful museum, 4 would be better. It's really a MUST SEE...you won't be disappointed.

This museum is just incredible. If you have family that were veterans and served, there is an incredible pull to what they went through and such a feeling you get. It's indescribable. The planes and all air crafts were mouth dropping. The artwork and symbolic drawings in the planes were beautiful. The members who served and survivors from wars were all so moving. There is so much history. It was such an honor to visit. We loved it.

Stunning collection of aircraft and war memorabilia. You can get up and close to all the planes and see them in all their glory. Coming from the UK it was nice to see my hometown on the map and some context of its contribution to the war. Friendly and helpful staff with plenty of volunteers to help out.

No words to explain how amazing this place is!! It’s a very surreal experience, and the people who work and volunteer there are wonderful. There are many workers there who were soldiers themselves, and hearing their knowledge is something I’m grateful for. The planes are breathtaking and the displays of knowledge and artifacts engage oneself. They also have a library of Life magazines, how cool! Highly recommended taking anyone there!!

Super cool museum! Just happened to drive by on our way in to Palm Springs and decided to go back after lunch. Staff was very friendly and informative. Unfortunately the Stealth exhibit was closed but the B-17 bomber exhibit was amazing.

The Palm Springs Air Museum is a popular aviation museum located in Palm Springs, California in the desert! It houses a vast collection of vintage aircraft and exhibits that showcase the history of aviation. It houses WW2, Korean War, Vietnam War and War on Terror. Great way to learn about their significance in military and aviation history. All planes are in flyable conditions. Coolest airplane is Nighthawk. It's a fascinating place for aviation enthusiasts and history lovers alike! Definitely a fun activity for families and kids!

I was a great place to visit with a couple of friends as they are history and aircraft enthusiasts. There were only a few staff there but they were very informative and friendly. I was expecting to stay there for about 90 mins, but we ended up nearly 4 hours in total. We loved the fact you could walk and touch the planes, and there were a lot of them!

Awesome museum with a cool collection. Especially did not expect the extensive selection of ship models and overall descriptions of the major campaigns. Some galleries were a little disorganized but with how often the planes are moved that is easily excused. Would highly recommend as a destination if you are in the area

If your in the area. I would highly recommend visiting this place. The fact we could get so close to the planes was by far the coolest aspect. As most museums have them behind ropes. On a personal note. I think there needs to be a little rearranging for things. So much space unused. An while some of the areas we couldn’t get to. The replicas of boats was astounding. Being able to see a f-117 up close was also another highlight too. Staff was helpful an sweet. Plenty of parking. Little cafe inside. Things kids can climb in. Flight simulator upstairs is cool. It’s on computers. Reviews say you can spend upwards of 2 hours here an it’s true. Reading an walking etc. We didn’t read anything an still took about 2 hours just to see everything. Have fun! What a gem in the middle of the desert!

Came here today for an early flight in a T-28 Trojan. Rob was extremely kind and welcomed us in and guided us to Ian, who was a good mentor and guide. Then we had the pleasure of one by one flying with pilot Mike. It’s places and experiences like these that make life worth living. Would come again.

Amazing museum!! So much history, and lots of planes to marvel over. Brief plaques of description of each exhibit makes the palm springs air museum a must stop. A nice gift shope with plenty of souvenirs to make your stop memorable.

Well appointed aviation museum focused on generations of military and general aircraft. Ample parking space. Visited in the bright July sunshine! What made things interesting were the knowledgeable vets across all exhibits who proudly shared their stories as well as those of the aircraft on display. The outdoor displays were superb too, as was the ‘stealth hangar’ Well stocked souvenir shop. An aviation geek’s paradise! 😊

What a beautiful museum!! Completely surprised by this gem in the middle of Palm Springs. You walk between five different plane hangers and you see some amazing restoration! We ended our visit in the kids area. Which slightly smaller than we hopped. Wishing maybe there was opportunities through out the museum for kids to interact, but it was still so much! We enjoyed snacks out on the bleacher outside watching the planes take off due to the museum was right next to a tarmac.

A great airplane museum. Multiple hangars of different genres. Outside planes. Helicopters. Even a stealth fighter. There were models of battleships from all ages. Even this great explanation timeline of pearl harbor.

  • 5/5 Jacob W. 1 year ago on Google
This is an amazing museum. Not only will fans of airplanes love it here, but people who enjoy history, or even just want a unique activity to take your kids too. I recently took my 10 and 12 year old and they were fascinated with something in each hangar. There are even several planes you can get into and sit in the cockpit. Don’t forget to check out the upstairs library and flight simulators. The library was especially interesting because they had original print magazines going back to the 20’s and 30’s. It was so interesting to see the ads, stories, and prices of things back then. Make sure you take the guided plan tour which is only and extra $5. An actual retired air force pilot was working the day we went and he had some amazing stories and insight to share.

This place is amazing! Such a great location for a flight museum. The view is stunning during sunset! $20 per person, open till 5 pm. So many cool airplanes and the history behind each of them. Very well layout from indoor to outdoor. Highly recommend checking this place out when in PS!

When I told a friend I was coming here he suggested this museum. When he told me you could tour the inside of a B17 I was ready to go! This place has an amazing collection of planes from WWII to modern times. It also has a large staff of knowledgable volunteers than know their stuff about them. The walk through the B17 was truly humbling, what these incredible young men did to preserve our way of life. The other highlight was the F-117 Stealth Fighter. too many other spectacular planes and exhibits to mention. If you are an aviation buff like me this needs to be on your bucket list!

1st time visit On a overnight trip to the area Decided to visit this time Museum is located on the East side of Palm Springs on Gene Autry Drive It has ample parking Well maintained facility Helpful and friendly staff Popular with families with or without children and individuals with local or out of town visitors Entrance is located in the middle of building facing Gene Autry Drive Tickets can be purchased at the Gift Shop which is on the left side of entrance Prices are posted to the left of ticket counter. The Gift Shop is well stocked with aviation merchandise for all ages Once you have purchased your ticket(s) you walk down a short hallway where staff can provide you with a map of the museum The map is helpful since there 4 different hangers which house aircraft, exhibits and a small cafe in the hanger where the B17 is housed The exhibits on display are very informative and detailed Not to mention the number of aircraft on display especially the B-17 and Stealth Bomber which are housed in their own hangers This is the first time I had seen both aircraft up close I was amazed by the size of the B17 which takes most of the hanger where it is housed I highly recommend the Palm Springs Air Museum on anyone's visit to the area It is well worth the visit

We spent over three hours here on a rainy day in March--beautiful surroundings. I highly recommend adding this museum to your Palm Springs itinerary! $22/ adult. Bring cash! Any and all kiddos, students, history buffs, and elders will enjoy meandering through the museum which features unique memorabilia, detailed war campaigns, intense videos and photos, a library, wonderful ship models, and of course lots of planes. Certain sections have a elementary science fair tri-fold board presentation style going on but we like that simplicity. I really enjoyed viewing the Lockheed F117 plane. I hope the pics below are helpful! The flight simulator is extra $ and goes for as long as the technician wants. There is an ATM near the cafe. You can actually ride the planes but only of weather permits and it's pricey depending on which plane. Check out the awesome library! Big props to the lovely staff members who work here and help bring the history to life. Fascinating!

First time here and super exciting to see one of these planes take off in action! They have different plane options you can choose from for a fun 15 min joy ride of these classic beauties! Also check out their lunch spot in the back of the hangar, surprisingly their sandwiches were pretty good! Recommend coming here for a fun history lesson!

I've been to some great air museums like the Museum of Flight in Seattle and the Smithsonian, this one was interesting and had a lot of great aircraft like the F-117, but was kind of on the small side. Also the collection was a bit haphazardly placed and needs quite a bit of curating. There just seemed to be so many amazing artifacts and displays but no where to really put them but to shoehorn them where ever they could find stay space. There doesn't seem to be any air conditioning in the hanger galleries which isn't comfortable obviously in palm springs.

  • 5/5 Jennifer L. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely worth going! So much to look at inside and outside. Lots of friendly staff wanting to talk and share their knowledge. They have a huge library and movie area along with computers that you can test fly planes. Definitely can take more then one day to truely go through everything. On the weekends you can even pay to fly in a few of the planes.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Palm Springs Aerospace Museum and I cannot say enough good things about my experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff who were eager to share their love for aviation. The museum itself is a treasure trove of aviation history, with an impressive collection of aircraft and exhibits that span the centuries. From the Wright Brothers' first flight to the cutting-edge technology of modern jets, every era of aviation is beautifully represented here. One of the highlights of my visit was the chance to step inside some of the aircraft and experience what it must feel like to be a pilot. Being able to sit in the cockpit of a fully restored vintage plane was a dream come true for any aviation enthusiast. The museum also offers a variety of interactive displays and simulators that allow visitors to get a hands-on experience of what it's like to fly. From flight simulators to virtual reality experiences, there was something for everyone, regardless of age or level of interest. The staff at the museum are clearly passionate about their work and their dedication shows. They were more than happy to answer any questions I had and took the time to explain the history and significance of each aircraft. Their enthusiasm was infectious and made my visit even more enjoyable. Another aspect that impressed me was the attention to detail in the museum's exhibits. The aircraft were meticulously restored and displayed in a way that allowed visitors to fully appreciate their beauty and historical significance. The museum also had a great selection of information boards and signage that provided context and a deeper understanding of the exhibits. In addition to the impressive collection of aircraft, the museum also featured rotating exhibits and special events. This meant that even if you have visited before, there is always something new and exciting to discover. Overall, my visit to the Palm Springs Aerospace Museum was an incredible experience. The combination of friendly staff, stunning exhibits, and interactive displays made for a truly memorable day. Whether you're a die-hard aviation enthusiast or simply curious about the world of flight, this museum is a must-visit. I highly recommend it and can confidently give it a well-deserved 5 stars.

The Palm Springs Air Museum is a must place to visit while in Palm Springs. The museum features one of the world's largest collections of flying World War II warplanes, model planes & ships, a library, aviation artwork and unique war memorabilia. Many aircrafts have been used in movies sets during the second world war. My favorite part of the museum was the Lockheed F117 Nighthawk ("Stealth Fighter") hanger. We didn't make reservations for our visited. We paid for admission that day with no waiting. Admission prices are $22/Adult, $20/Vets, Retired Military, Seniors & Teens, FREE/Active duty & immediate family, 12 years & under. There is plenty of parking in large front parking lot upon arrival. The museum also has a theater, a gift shop and a small café. The Palms Springs Air Museum is a must-visit destination for aviation fanatics, kids, students, adults, elders, families and couples. The museum is super educational and the staff members consist of a lot of retired Vets who help bring the history to life. It mad it a privilege and a joy to visit the Palm Springs Air Museum.

Great museum with amazing detail. You could spend a full day here going through all the exhibits and displays. Lots to see and do for all ages. You can tell the volunteers and mechanics/engineers have spent a lot of time restoring aircraft. Well worth a visit if you are in the Palm Springs area.

  • 5/5 Roy F. 6 months ago on Google
Way bigger than I expected, thought this would be a quick stop and spent almost 3 hours here! They have a sizeable collection of planes including an F-117 which was amazing to see in person! They also had a B-17 that you could board and climb through, and they offer rides on a variety of aircraft including a P-51. Though rides were not in the budget it was really cool to see the planes actually flying. Definitely worth a trip, may have to come back and splurge on a flight someday!

I've been to a number of air museums and this is one of the best. Great variety of crafts, loads of information boards, and fantastic volunteers many of whom are veterans. If you have the opportunity go to the top of the stairs and use the flight simulator.

So many things to see! You can get up close to everything. So much to see and the food was good too. I missed being able to walk through the B-17 , I arrived in that area late afternoon (2pm) on a Sunday and they had stopped tours.

Definitely a Must!! Huge variety of top-notch, rare planes, helicopters and cars. They are one of a few museums to have a Stealth 117 Nighthawk airplane and a B-17!! A wonderful collection. They also have magnificent, knowledgeable, friendly docents around each exhibit area! (Plan accordingly, a lot of outdoor planes to see, might be Hot during certain months.) Enjoy, and appreciate those who served.
