Nearly 85% of the Polish capital was destroyed, and thousands of people died during uprising. There were also a lot of children who fighted for freedom and died. This monument reminds us about this fact.

The statue is of a young boy wearing a helmet too large for his head and holding a submachine gun. Despite being sometimes colloquially called Antek Rozpylacz, it is not representing any specific child. The helmet and submachine gun are stylized after German equipment, which was captured during the uprising and used by the resistance fighters against the occupying forces

When you are walking around the brick city walls of Warsaw Old you will get to a small statue named Mały Powstaniec that represents the child soldiers who fought and died during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, World War II. It is a sad place to visit, but it is certainly a way to understand what this city went through during the WWII and how today they use this monument to remind their children with the hope of celebrating the end of the war that will never return. Eli: 5 / Serge: 5 Recommended: Yes, it’s a historical and touching place to visit it.

This beautiful bronze statue is free to visit. It’s near the old city wall of the old town. Well worth a visit during the day or night as it is lit up. It is not too busy though many city tour guides stop there to explain the it’s history so it can get noisy.

Tourist Trap Alert - Beware of "Mały Powstaniec" My recent visit to "Mały Powstaniec" in Warsaw's old town was a deeply disappointing experience. The warning signs were apparent from the start when a pushy street tout ushered us to the restaurant. We felt coerced into entering, and it only got worse from there. The menu looked promising, but the reality was far from it. The prices seemed reasonable, but upon receiving the bill, we were charged double of what we had ordered. This blatant overcharging was not only unethical but also illegal. The food itself was atrocious, leaving a terrible taste in our mouths both figuratively and literally. To make matters worse, this establishment seems to thrive on misleading tourists. The street touts actively try to lure unsuspecting visitors into their web of deceit. It's a classic example of a tourist trap, and I regret falling for it. I strongly urge fellow travelers to steer clear of "Mały Powstaniec." Instead, explore the charming old town of Warsaw and discover the many wonderful, authentic dining options available that won't leave you feeling scammed and dissatisfied. Warsaw has so much more to offer than this exploitative restaurant. It's disheartening to see such businesses taking advantage of tourists, and I hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for others.

Mały Powstaniec, the Little Insurgent, is a poignant testament to Warsaw's indomitable spirit. This small but powerful statue captures the essence of the brave child soldiers who fought in the Warsaw Uprising. Cool place, helpful waiters. One of them forgot to bring our coffee for 30 minutes - for which they gave us another on the house.

This place is truly special. Mały Powstaniec, which means "the Little Insurgent" in English, is a statue located in Warsaw, Poland. It was erected in memory of the child soldiers who fought and died in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. The statue was designed by Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz and unveiled on October 1, 1983, on the 39th anniversary of the end of the Warsaw Uprising. It has become one of the most recognizable symbols of the city of Warsaw and a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the young insurgents who fought for their country's freedom.
