Tempo House Hotel is represented in advertisement accurately. Check in service was smooth where guests receive a warm welcome and introduction. Following the check in service, the front desk personnel continued to be helpful. Location is close to the Ocean, to the markets and to tourist attractions. Service in the rooms is very good, although slow to follow on fixing the TV which did not work well. Pools are clean and one pool overlooks the water. We recommend

Nice hotel great breakfast great location in stone town. The rooms are nice and large and the hotel was quite enjoyable on the beach with two pools. The breakfast was cooked fresh and was enjoyable served outside, mostly. Cappuccinos we’re not included, but were only 5k each and pretty good. The rooms were very clean and beds/bedding great - the furniture was however not very comfortable. The staff were helpful but painfully slow, especially when paying - be prepared to pay cash!

Quite frankly, the pictures do not do the place justice. The hotel is exactly as it looks, however seeing it during a beautiful sunny day is absolutely incredible. Stayed in room 26 -- a Junior Suite with an ocean view -- which is only accessible by 3 flights of stairs and only 1 of 3 rooms on the floor. Access to the infinity pool is one floor below. The room has air conditioning and a television. Do not book this room type if you have any physical limitations. Bed is very, very firm and the pillows are fantastic. Wonderful staff who are pleasant and full of smiles. There is an omelette station at breakfast and an assortment of other foods. The beef curry was delicious.

Charming hotel with a old fashioned style. Even light switches are antique. Lovely view from the double room 206. A bit smallish but location makes up for everything. Going back for sure

Staff specially that cashier Ali at the restaurant is LAZY. That guy don't know how to deal with customers. Rather than get the POS for the credit card , HE will just order you around to go reception to pay and he will just sit back. Comparing him to other servers at the hotel, others are better. The place is not a A+ place, look so old. Only one electrical socket for you to charge in your room. Beach view is not a WOW place. Better get another Hotel , many hotels here in Zanzibar. Specially if your going to deal with this kind of staff.

Great hotel! The food at the 24 hour restaurant was fantastic (note: no alcohol). Rooms have cool decor and are very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful, but can be slow to respond if you call the front desk.

Magnifique views 😍! The rooms are equipped with a working air-conditioner that keeps your room cool while you are out swimming or exploring stone town. The bed is so comfortable! I think the only thing that was sub-par for me is the breakfast. Very simple options not palatable for my preference personally. Also the beach front was very crowded for Christmas which I later learned why

I just spent 2 nights here and absolutely loved the hotel. My room was off the breakfast area so not sure how representative it is of others, but I felt I had stepped back in history but with all the modern conveniences. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. The pool area was clean and the location on the water made my dinner views memorable. Would happily return if I ever have the opportunity.

Very nice hotel in Stone Town, the rooms were large and spacious. Every day they made our beds and left us clean towels. we bathe on the condition that we do not disturb the other guests. We also received bottles of water every day.

This was a trip I'd been saving for, for three years. This was a 30th Birthday trip to myself & the way things panned out, it quickly became a solo trip and my first one at that. So leaving the US to travel to a different country could easy be one of the scariest things ever to someone but for me, it was one of the best and most peaceful trips I've ever been on. Tembo Hotel was the second hotel I stayed out during my duration in Zanzibar and honestly I wish it were my only stay. My first hotel was very nice but it was a lot further away on more of a beach resort hotel type of place. Tembo was a beach, city & every good thing in between type of hotel. As soon as I arrived staff at the receptionist counter welcomed me and even offered complimentary Hibiscus juice (that I love). I was then told my room was upgraded free of charge to a bungalow suite on the beach named, "Bahari." I was so thankful and upon walking into my room I was blown away at the beauty, space, cleanliness, and the SHOWER!! That shower was something I'd never seen before in my life and is hard for me to describe the arcihitecture of it but WOW. The staff were some of the nicest people I'd ever meet from the older man named, "Salim" (I hope I spelled it correctly) he helped me bring my bags to the room and even one night accompanied me to the a few places down the street since I was by myself at night as a foreigner female. Mohammoud always greeted my from morning to evening with a warm beautiful smile and even was my server a few times, whose customer serve was top tier excellent. Mudrik was so helpful when it came to helping change the batteries in the safe in my bedroom. Adul was so kind, friendly every time I saw him. Raphael was literally a dream he and the older Salim. Raphael made me a nice refreshment drink and we had great conversations throughout my time there. The younger Salim was so nice and sweet as well and last but not least Makame was so helpful on my last day there.

Warm reception. A welcoming glass of aromatic hibiscus juice tells it ..how much exceptional Tembo house management. Great swimming pools at the apartments, well arranged, full furnished and clean rooms. The hair dryer in the bathroom was real helpful. Of cause the location is very convenient ... tourist can easily reach to almost everywhere/everything.

It's like a dream. Perfectly situated with its own beach, gorgeous historic Swahili style, incredibly accommodating and friendly staff. Tembo Suite with its own porch facing the ocean was the nicest place I've ever stayed. And the pool is just spectacular. Loved every minute.

Booked room with sea view - could see the sea only when standing on balcony - a bit disappointed. Bathroom would need upgrade - loose fittings - for the price we paid expected more. location perfect - staff very friendly.

Lovely hotel for a stopover in Stone town for one night before going to the East of Zanzibar for the rest of the week. Food and location were excellent with incredibly helpful staff, particularly Ali who always greeted us with a smile and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

Floating in that pool and looking up at the charming historical designs was amazing! Great food & service at beach front restaurant, but no alcohol served on property. The restaurant next door has good food, drinks & music. Huge bedroom & bathroom with excellent hot water & AC. Staff very helpful.

Pretty and historical hotel with a great location. We had a great ocean view too. Staff is friendly, rooms were clean and bathrooms modern. Just found the door to our room a bit odd as it had a 2cm gap along the full length of the door which mosquitoes easily found their way through.

We were there for 5 days and it was really nice. Not a great luxury hotel but for sure better than what we expected. The staff was helpful and polite, we never encountered any problems. Our room was cleaned every day and all supplies were restored. Also there was a tv, air-conditioner, celling fan... There are 4 buildings. One of them is with the main desk, restaurant, two pools and it is located on the public beach. We were in one of the other three, but we could use all the facilities in the main one, and we also had a pool in our building. All four of them are 10 steps away from each other. We only had breakfast in the hotel restaurant but it was diverse and satisfying.

Very nice hotel with beautiful location. All the rooms are so neat and clean. Their service was also good. The interiors are so good and It is fully in authentic style. They have the best cappuccino. It’s quality is good and it’s worth the rate as well. Overall a good experience. Do visit them compulsory.

Stayed in the apartment. Good size for a family and very clean. Pool is very pleasant and enjoyable. Our stay came with a great breakfast that changes slightly each day. Ate supper st restaurant a few times as well and food was tasty. Staff is very friendly. Location is also very good as you can walk to many shops without too much of a problem. Great stay for a family getaway.

Nice rooms with plenty of room. Very nice bathroom and shower but not a lot of warm water but it is warm here so not a big deal. Two nice pools and a lovely terrace to eat breakfast and dinner. The breakfast is excellent with fresh local fruit. The dinner was good but service very slow. The biggest disappointment was that they do not serve any Alcohol so no beer to sip by the ocean.

Located in the heart of the Old Town this hotel is a very nice place where to stay. The rooms are not too big but comfortable, most of them with the sea view. It has 2 swimming pools, a nice beach front. The only draw back, unfortunately is the breakfast. It has very basic low quality Supermarket products, poorly presented and a bit messy.

Very beautiful hotel with a very good location: in the heart of the city. Close to everything and access to the beach. I loved the rooms, bathrooms. They only need to work on improving the breakfast menu. The staff very friendly.

If you plan on staying in Stone Town for a night or two the hotel location is hard to beat! The environment is nice and you get a feel of the “old town.” However, be weary that the rooms are veeery old, and in our case there was an awful smell coming from the bathroom (our room was next to the pool.) We only stayed for one night and it was too late to complain when we noticed, but this is part of the reasons why I don’t give this hotel a better score. Generally, the staff is nice, but they lack a more personable touch with their guests. That said, it is good for its value and still a great choice!

I did not stay here but use their restaurant regularly. A very relaxed beach hotel with varied options on menu. Portions are big. More than anything I love the view of the beach from here.

Rooms are dated but if you like old and mixed architecture of Zanzibar, you will enjoy. The view of Indian ocean and passing of small and bigger ships is fantastic. Either enjoying morning breakfast along with fresh fruits or evening beer overlooking indian ocean will make you relaxed.

Excellent service, views, location, price and facilities. The breakfast alone was worth it with so many options to choose from (buffet style). There was a variety of local and foreign food and it was all freshly made. Really enjoyed our time. Thank you to the friendly and helpful staff.

Fantastic hotel. Service were excellent. First night we had a room in annex building, which we didn't want. Next morning they send someone to help with luggage and we could choose our room from 3 available ones in the main hotel. Best room ever. The manager were so nice to answer our questions in depth and really spend time with us. Food on menu is very good and good prices. Loved every minute. Fantastic location will definitief stay there again.

Amazing amazing amazing. Nearly everyone speaks English, breakfast is amazing. Right on the ocean, easy ride to islands. Rooms are AC and refrigerator too. Large bathrooms. Cannot wait to come back! $15 taxi from/to airport. Walk to markets, right in Stone Town. Restaurant on site also

Beautiful building, but slow service from the reception on both check in and check out. The room I got (deluxe room) had no space for toiletries. It was otherwise well equipped and with a nice view of the pool and ocean. Restaurant and location was good.

Gorgeous building, great staff, and a fun and diverse scene set Tembo House apart. The building has gorgeous rustic & Colonial aesthetics, with incredible art and decor. The staff is very helpful, understanding, and available, even if you don't speak Swahili or Arabic. And the guests are a really great mix from all over the world— it's fun just to hear all the international languages! Love the restaurant and the view. Great for first-timers like me!

Everything about the hotel is just amazing, close to a lot of restaurants, reasonable price for a standard room. Rooms are a bit vintage so if you are into modern interiors this is not for you, but other wise everything is amazing. Very friendly staff, breakfast is delicious and location is just breath taking. Highly recommend if you are visiting stone town. 10 sec walk from Freddie mercury museum which was a plus for us 😁

Super nice staff and love the rooms! I was shocked at how nice and calm the area was. During the busy hours and nighttime it can get a little loud but other than that it’s a really great place and I would totally recommend! ❤️ Again, LOVE the staff 😄👍
