We were satisfied up until the point where they tried to play the role of a bank instead of a hostel while being dishonest about it. If you give them dollars they’ll give you back your change in shillings for an amount less than the value of the dollar you gave in a sneaky way. This was extremely disheartening and disappointing for travelers and a poor representation of Tanzanian people. Will not be back and do not recommend.

Best hostel I’ve stayed at in East Africa! This is an extremely clean, well kept, modern and lively hostel with great facilities and a perfect location. There are really nice private (but shared) bathrooms and showers, with strong water pressure and hot water. The common areas are super nice and the entire place has great wifi and international wall plugs for foreign travellers. The rooms are also equipped with great air conditioning which is a must in this area. Hostel provided nice linens and towels too! As a solo female backpacker, I always try to find the best and safest female dorms, and these ones were amazing! The staff was also super friendly and accommodating when it came to organizing little trips via their affiliated tour company, and getting me rather cheap airport transport. Would highly recommend this hostel to all and maybe even come again in the future!

There are a lot of ants. I changed the bed by myself. The victim of the ants was the bed in the back left of the second floor. From now on, I will not bring in food, even if I am tired, I will completely close the sealed bag.Scary, bad dream for Japanese. Why is the house not properly sealed? I think there is a problem with the architecture.

Decent hostel but wouldn't spend the whole time here if in the city for multiple days. Difficult to communicate with staff beforehand to book a taxi from the airport. A/C in dorm rooms but not in the rest of the building, and the showers were musty.

Lovely hostel. Biggest beds I've had from a hostel too and the curtains are a nice touch to keep things private. The bathrooms are on a different floor from the first floor dorm but they are very easy to get to. Perfect location in stone town and the staff are very helpful. Not a brilliant place to meet people though and they do not advertise the tax price which leads to the cost being around 18 dollars per night but that's pretty standard in stone town

The staff was really friendly. Sadly no were lockers available. Big part of the price is hidden in the taxes which are higher than usual. A lot of people in one room. Common area is not existent.

Our group was very disappointed. After checking out we realised that we have been overcharged by about 50%. (they made us pay late at night when we had just landed and hadn't got used to the currency). We didn't think the hostel would be insincere to charge us a wrong rate. Infact we were charged 4* what we were expecting to pay because they also had a tax that was more than the room price. (which is not easily seen on the booking) In any case, once we realised that we were overcharged by twice, we got in contact with the hostel. Unfortunately they were unwilling to budge on a refund, despite admitting they had made a mistake. (we had another booking with them to return 12 days later) My friend spoke to the manager about this who was rude and didn't seem willing to resolve the issue. We had to stay here again to avoid losing the money we were wrongly charged. I just can't believe that a hostel would overcharge and then have such a bad attitude about giving a refund on their own mistake. Shockingly appalling. Overall the facilities were to be expected for a budget hostel. Although know now that the hostel costs 15$ rather than 6$ I do think this is expensive for what it is.

I appreciated that there are 3 bathrooms/showers, so if one is wet from a shower, you can just pick another one. Rooms and beds are really good. For me, personally, the AC was too cold. But I grabbed 2 other thin blankets from other beds which were free after getting permission to do so from the receptionist :D Still had to put on some clothes after some hours, but that was warm enough then ^^ Asante sana! :)

Awesome location, lovely staff and very spacious Dormitories. Ac included. Sure the bathroom isn't the most modern, but it was clean and functional. Very good value for the price!

Great location. Very friendly staff. Very very basic, even for a hostel. Very loud. Staff are easy to hear sitting outside your room early in the morning and late at night.

Probably the best hostel in Zanzibar City. Rooms equiped with AC which is absolutely a must here. The only but would be that they should regulate the AC with a bit higher temperature as I needed to sleep in my sweater😅

The staff is unbelievably friendly and kind. The room’s AC is perfect and the concept, of the bunkbeds “in the wall” is super, the curtain gives plenty of privacy and the shower is big and clean. The bed in the dormitory is quite expensive, because of the tax, but the hostel is directly in the centre of stone town, 2mins from beach and 2mins from town. The owner is super nice and showed a lot of kindness. For backpackers, totally appropriate and with a sofa in the hall to meet other people.

If you want stay in the heart of stone town and in the most famous area , so this is the best place where you can stay with good price and nice service Near from Freddy mercury and in front of the post office

It's a great place for a night stay, less expensive about 17$ a night. Free WiFi Comfy Working space (2nd floor) with balcony space if you want to sit up. It's a nice place, I hope to give a visit again.

Abdullah (the concierge and jack of all trades) is incredibly nice and helpful. The rooms are reasonably priced with lots of space and lockers. Located right at the heart of Stonetown. Doesn’t seem to be a very social place but could be because it’s the off season. No restaurant or bar. Clean with comfy beds and privacy curtains. Cons: not typically hot water available in showers, but it’s not cold enough to be uncomfortable.

Comfortable and large beds in a really great spot right in the middle of Stone Town. The team at the hostel were super friendly and helpful too.

Common area is not the same as in the pictures and no good for meeting others. Charging 10.000 shilling just to keep luggage one half day

Staffs are so kind. Price is reasonable. Location is good in that it is middle of Main Street in Stonetown. Cleanliness is pretty good. Breakfast isn’t served. Bathroom is shared by all guests. Even if it is dormitory type, bed is private because of curtains and separate wall. Many bag backers stay here.

I’m not sure why this hostel is highly rated. Was planning on staying two nights initially but left the next morning. The mixed dorm room is far too overcrowded for the number of people in it, also really stuffy. There is really small lockers to leave valuables, but no where else to leave bags apart from the bed you sleep on as floor space was negligee. There is an A/C, but it’s very weak and impossible to cool a room with a capacity of 20 people. Everyone was sweltering in the heat and sweat. The dorms and toilets were clean.

    - really foul smell in the toilet - did not provide locker keys - common area is not same as in the picture - coffee area is unhygienic - great location - reasonable price - leaking AC

A wonderful location at the heart of Stone Town. A lot of good restaurants, places to visit and boats to take to the different islands are a walking distance. It's also very good for budget traveler (keep in mind that when I was there in October of 2021, they had a discount and it was 15$ per night.) Peli, the receptionist was a wonderful host. She was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean. I love how they have plugs available for each bed. I stayed in the female only dorm and I was lucky to be the only one staying for two out of the three nights I spent there. I can imagine it being very crowded since the dorm could accommodate up to 14 people. The bathrooms are clean in the morning and could use frequent cleaning since its a shared space.
