We stayed at zLife Hostel 1 night from the 3rd to 4th of June 2022 and got an experience of damaged luggage from the hostel stuff with an obvious purpose of robery while we went to walk around the city till our pick up time. They knew the time when we supposed to be back to the hostel and zip of the luggage was damaged at down part so we won't see it straight away. Be careful and watch your stuff from them. Wouldn't recommend although location is good.

Great hostel at a good central location at a reasonable price. Also great for touring groups. Most Stone Town tourist places are within walking distance. And staff are willing to help you with requests that go beyond the typical tourist traps like using local public transport, go to the shops where the local people buy, etc. This is a good place to start a Zanzibar Adventure.

We had a booking at zlife. We tried to check in late at night and they had given away our room despite have a credit card guaranteed booking. They then lied to the booking agent (online platform) that we were a no show so that we had no access to support, refund or rebooking. Finally, they refused to provide us any support in rebooking us a room. Be warned!

Dont expect air conditioning! The only reason this isnt a 1 star is because the staff were super lovely. Aircon doesnt work in the rooms and they purposely switch them off during the night. Location is great but there are two other hostels next door which are wonderful. My response to below: And that is why you shouldnt stay here! Please anyone considering staying here go on booking dom com and see how each room includes “air conditioning”, the owner does not like feedback!

Don’t stay at single room on the first floor, it’s next to the main gate n ppl walk through all the time. Their window is open window so you will hear whole night ppl walking laughing running. Also lots of tourists will come n take pictures at night so you will pay money for nothing. If you raising concern they will sell you room with extra money :) regret that I waisted money for this quality

Perfect hotel for your first night in Zanzibar. The hotel is quite in the center so it feels like being in the middel of the city life. If you are looking for that plus the ability to visit all the spots from a walking distance i would recommend.

Hello my friends! ⛔️🚫 Be careful from this. The trap... So, about my experience in Zlife Hostelston town in Zanzibar, we booked 3 nights for 48$, and they changed us 54$ As a taxes totalwas 102$ !!! They ARE CHEATING This means the tax is more expensive than room, and the prices are not included 😒 The double room was small, then what we expected!

Super nice place to stay in Stone Town, the hostel is located in the center so it is easy to walk by. And the rooms were pretty good too.

Great place to set up base in stone town. Close to everything and nice interior balcony / terrace area. Rooms are tidy.

Great place to stay in the heart of Stone Town. Just a short walk from the beach and many other sites. The bed was comfortable, and the free breakfast was great!

I stayed for two days here in the heart of stone-town.... The staff are very friendly and there's a café right outside the hostel. The private rooms downstairs though are really stuffy and hot though and I wish they would include an a/c option for these rooms. Forget about network connectivity when you're in there. Also, the rooms need to be maintained. The bathroom mirrors have black marks on them and the shower head in room 11 doesn't work properly. The pillows appear to be old and past their time... In my opinion, the rooms appear not be maintained properly. Please spend some cash maintaining these rooms! There's no wi-fi on any of the room downstairs too. Also, the staff didn't register me upon check-in or check-out which was a first time for me .... very odd. :( Bummer!

Cash only. Beware of the city tax that may not be included in the total price (this increased our total cost by 50%). (And the fact that they only accept cash makes me wonder where the city tax goes..) Water from the tap is brackish (half fresh, half salt/ocean water). No reception in most of the rooms. WiFi was working most of the time. Avoid the ground floor rooms, they are damp, clammy and dark. There are no windows to the outside, only to the lobby. There are no curtains, so if you open the shutters, anyone walking through the lobby can see in. Windows at the top without shutters mean that there are permanent open windows to the lobby, so you can hear anyone coming and going at any point during the day and night. No shower curtain means your entire bathroom gets wet when you have a shower. One of the rooms doesn't have heated water. Free breakfast was a simple and small but sufficient buffet. Location is great, that's what you're paying for.

Shared dorm with a/c or without. Also simple double rooms. No mozzie nets in the dorms. Can't vouch for the doubles. Great breakfast served with a smile. Good location and easy enough to find. Good value all things considered. Maybe not the most atmospheric in itself. But clean, bright, and would happily recommend. Staff helpful.

In general it's a good hostel - centrally located and with a beautiful patio. 15 USD for bed dorm is not super cheap (in Asia you could get a decent budget double for that), but the dorms are clean and airy. Also deluxe rooms on the highest floor are good choice, but again - a bit pricey for a hostel (55 USD). Breakfast is simple - eggs, fruits & coffee.

This place is a hostel-like place to sleep, it's one of the cheapest places in town. A night is about $17. Free Internet (for my fellow online workers) There is a nice workplace on the 2nd floor which is quiet as well.

Clean, cosy and friendly hidden hostel in the historical heart of stone town. Found off the beaten track in a quiet alley off the main busy streets of stone town, the hostel was very clean, my group was well received and the general atmosphere was great. Highly recommended as a good hostel option in the heart of stone town, literally a stones throw away from most of stone town's attractions, restaurants and more.

Great location, walking distance from central tourist attractions in Stone town! We loved the staff though we were shocked a bit by the lack of water and electricity when we arrived ,but this didn’t affect us too much since we were up and about in the town. The budget rooms had great bathrooms, though the privacy and ventilation kept us there for only one night.

1st time to zanzibar and zlife staff were friendly, helpful and assist in anyway. Zlife is clean and near tourist attractions and shops. STONE TOWN is a beautiful historical city in zanzibar. Great for groups or solo travellers like me :) and affordable 😉. It's all great

Perfectly located, calm and well kept hostel. Very friendly staff, simple breakfast with eggs and some fruits and mango jam included. We had a double with own bath room, it was very clean and cosy! Nothing else matters! Good value!

In some room quality of lights are not good especially if the room is on the ground floor. To much noise come from outside if ur room is on the entrance of the hotel.

Got bitten by thousands of mosquitoes and couldn't sleep the entire night. Everything except that was good.

Basic hostel. There’s no air-con in some rooms but it’s cheap.
