We were brought to this hotel from the airport because our flight was cancelled. So, one of the pluses - it’s close to the airport. Another plus - the building is beautiful and the decorations in the common areas are nice. I believe, once opened it was luxurious place, the design of the building itself and of the rooms speaks of this very clearly, though now the rooms look not very fresh. The furniture is nice, but general condition of the room is quite average, especially bathrooms. I would say it needs some renovation, at least some touches must be done that it looks tidier. The bed linen had an unpleasant smell, and in other conditions I would demand it to be changed to the fresh one. But, as I said, our flight was cancelled after a long delay, we were so exhausted and it was around 2 a.m. that we just fell asleep. The hotel has a pool and it’s on the seaside, though in the morning there was low tide and all we saw - was just sand covered with seaweed. Anyway, we didn’t have a plan to swim, so it didn’t bother us too much. The breakfast was very average. The selection of food is all right, though the quality not so great. It wasn’t tasty, it was just ok not to starve. I think the hotel has a potential of turning into a really enjoyable place to stay if some changes are made.

Definitely 5/5. We loved absolutely everything in this place. Hotel is not brand new, but very lovely! We enjoyed by maximum staying there! Service is excellent! Restaurant staff is additional word to say- they do their best to please you. We had to move before the breakfast- I couldn't even imagine that they will prepare the full buffet at 5 am! (Breakfast is from 7am). Restaurant manger Odero was super super nice to us all the time! What is most lovely, they do their best without waiting from your side anything- just making your stay wonderful! Rooms, view, garden, pool, location - everything is just 5stars. Additional word to the room reservation- they made a special rate for us , upgraded room. And at last late check-out was with no additional charges. Wish to visit them again and just chill.

This place is so good. This seems to be located a little bit outer when compared to other places. They have a very good ambiance and the taste of the food is also very good They don’t have that much food options in vegetarian. I personally feel that the prices are high when compared to other hotels in Zanzibar. Also the food portion seems to be less tho. Do check them out

Gorgeous hotel with beautiful scenery. The food is exquisite. I did not have one bad meal. The food was flavored to perfection and was more than easy. The staff are very attentive to your needs. From arranging my pick up from the airport to the customer service..which is superior. The staff met my travel accommodation needs and they were always willing to help! The ladies who cleaned my apartment/room were very meticulous and took their time to do a good job. I've traveled and been to MANY countries and I was really impressed by this hotel and their staff's hospitality! Highly recommended.

I stayed 1 night in this hotel because my flight got cancelled and the airline booked the room. The hotel is near from the airport. My room smelled bad, was poorly sound proofed, had no handtowel at the sink, water in the sink didn't drain completely, floor in the bathroom was always wet and as I stepped out on the corridor I almost fell down, window in the bathroom was a shaft, for warm water in the sink the cold water must run a minute, shower small, furniture old, no sheets on the blanket, no moscito net, lamps are falling out of the wall, drawer handles fall off, the closet smelled awful, in the scent dispenser were swimming dead insects, Restaurant with small selection, Food was ok..., employees seemed unmotivated but some were very friendly, beach was public and dirty, entry into the sea smelled like a sewer, tap water isn't drinkable but for that you will get 2 bottles of water everyday on your room, minibar gets filled up on request, consuming food and drinks from outside of the hotel was strictly forbidden, WLAN was good. The hotel has no European standard 5 Stars! I hope the rooms for the ''real'' customers are better. At least I was happy to sleep somewhere so thank you for that.

One of the most amazing and beautiful hotels I've ever been. True boutique experience which is a sweet mix of luxury and authenticity. Nothing like luxury-pretentious which I don't like. Genuine place. A "paradise garden" :)

I had a super great time here. The staffs were so polite and friendly. The room was well spacious and beautiful. I would recommend a more flexible buffet plan as I had difficulties with the type of food as a Nigerian.

Such a great boutique hotel with friendly staff and perfect location 👌. Food was delicious especially the seafood platter. Located in a very quiet environment. You can take a walk for some fresh air. Rooms are clean and airport transfers are available. The sunset views are stunning 😍. Love the hammock area by the pool. I highly recommend them.

Coming from Canada, we stayed at Madinatul Bahr for a weekend to refresh and relax after a stressful period. To say our experience was exceptional would be an understatement. Everything from the architecture to the staff is top-tier. The facilities are clean, the rooms and resort are beautiful, and the staff are incredibly kind, considerate, and hospitable. We were thoroughly impressed and have already told friends and family what an amazing time we had.

Stayed there during our 18th wedding anniversary during our Zanzibar trip. The location is excellent as you come back to a quiet location away from the buzzling Zanzibar life. Everything you expect from a good hotel was there. Except more attention needed for the toilet & shower. No outside food is allowed. I will stay there next time.

The hotel building is very impressive with good facilities. Unfortunately, it is very badly let down by the level of service. It falls a long way short of the hotel’s image. Room service: 1) The room was a double room, it only had one dressing gown and pair of slipper 2) When I arrived there was no soap in the bathroom. I had to use the shower gel 3) On the second night, there was soap but the shower gel had not been replaced Service in the restaurant is very poor. 1) It is all self-service and trying to find somebody to order drinks from is virtually impossible, even when you have ordered the drinks take a long time to arrive. On the first night I did not get my drink until I was on my dissert course. 2) Drinks have to be paid in the restaurant and cannot be put on your room bill which is an inconvenience. 3) DO NO ORDER A BOTTLE OF WINE: Their wine list is very restrictive and I tried two bottles from their list, both of which were off having been stored too long. 4) The quality of the food preparation / presentation is suspect. Hairs were found in one dish of fruit. The supervisor came and apologised. Overall, the hotel is badly let down by its level of service. What a shame.

It was my 10th times to be here for having saturday night buffet. To be honest the food of last night was not that much various, but the mood and food was fine. Compare to othrr buffet they have many different kinds of dessert. This buffet only work on saturday night from 7:30pm in 35,000TZS(around 16$) per person.

Sebastian was amazing! He quickly coordinated my room and a driver to pick me up from the airport after I landed at 3 am. Very safe and beautiful hotel. The breakfast views are truly stunning. Good breakfast spread. Kind staff! Highly recommend!

It’s my third and would be my last time. Very disappointed with the service. Phone not working in the rooms. Very small meeting room. Some staff are extra nice and unfortunately some are not professional at all with bad attitude. When check out, they told me you are done, when I checked the bill I had remaining amount for me. Very very disappointed.

Very pleasant hotel but 7km and a 20 minute drive from stone town which is quite pleasant but not a fat lot to see, having said that, there is not a fat lot to see on Zanzibar full stop. everyone in the hotel are very helpful and the pool is pleasant so if you are going to be stuck near Zanzibar airport its not a bad choice for some peace and quiet

We stayed here for 3 nights, and overall, the hotel was fine. It looks opulent and the rooms are very good. However, the food (particularly the buffet) left a lot to be desired. The staff, particularly in the restaurant, are very good and nothing was too much trouble. The beach is small and not really clean, whilst the pool is nice, but if the hotel was full, there would be little xgance of getting a sun bed It was further from Stone Town than we expected (a 10-15 minute car ride) on very bad roads.

Great location, very good food, staff cannot be more polite and smiling. Mattresses not the most comfy, here and there you see it's not exactly a new hotel. Loved the pool. At the bottom line: a very good experience. I stayed only one night, due to a cancelled flight.

Amazing decor furniture pieces. Beautiful location. Some of the staff can use a bit more training, but the smiles make up for things. I enjoyed my stay there.

I visited this place in afternoon. Its Location is great. Interior is superb. Went there with friends to explore place and have drink. We ordered watermelon margarita and Virgin colada mocktails, with chocolate vanilla pastry. Both mocktails were good but pastry was not up to the mark. Its icing suger was not melted and suger crystals were coming in mouth. Though we enjoyed being there, the place was so calm and in best combination of architecture with nature. I really enjoyed my visit.

I can only share my experience based on a very late check-in (2:30am) meeting up with my wife who was there for a few days earlier. The hotel is very close to the airport, so that's a plus. Got to the hotel and they wanted me to pay $50 even though the room is equipped for two and I was there only for a short nap and breakfast 👎 Didn't even give me a key card to open the door, had to wake up my wife from her sleep 🤬 The rooms are decently furnished, nothing fancy/modern/elegant. Shower time, no hot water, only luke warm. Breakfast was ok, buffet style, was running around more than eating. Staff are pleasant but quite clueless at times. This is no 5 star hotel , 2 to 3 is more accurate.

Exelent hotel, exelent service and hospitality. The food is great and the breakfast buffet is so big you don't know what to chose, so you will not have that feeling that you are every day eating the same food. The staff is so frendly and amazing i will defenetly come back. We will miss you.

The most beautiful designed hotel in Zanzibar with an Octagon reception, gold lift, a Royal suite facing the sea on the west coast of Zanzibar ;a pleasant place to relax and watching the sunset, the swimming pool is amazing with a bridge in the centre ....the Hotel is owned and designed by Mr Mirani a top Hotelier in the Country.

Its expensive but nothing like that i have seen so far. Very clean inside or outside, food excellent. However if you want to drink anything including water prepare to pay.

Loved my stay here. There was no need to leave the hotel as it was walking from your room to the beach. Warm and hospitable staff, loved the space especially with the paranoia after Covid The buffet dinners outside were always magical

This hotel is beautiful and the staff were wonderful. Unfortunately it's advertised as accessible by wheelchair and it is most definitely NOT. We were told there was an accessible room and that the property was fully accessible (including access to the ocean). There are single steps throughout the property 🙄 and the beach access is a very very steep ramp that would definitely cause injury. Again the hotel and staff were very kind but the wrong information makes for a unsafe feeling when staying with a wheelchair.
