Still one of my favorite restaurants in Zanzibar! Food is always superb!! Service is amazing and quick, and the entire staff treat you like family! The beer is icy cold!!

BE CAREFUL when eating here! There is a HIGH SERVICE CHARGE (written in very small letters at the bottom of the menu). We have been to Tanzania and Zanzibar for a long time and have never had to pay any such charge! Other (Indian) restaurants do not charge it either! I was pretty sure that the nice lady who served us would not get the money so I tipped her myself, afterwards! Just to be clear, this is not about the money - there is a system behind it which I don’t like! Manager was unwilling to help either…

I would like to provide feedback regarding my recent experience at your restaurant. Regrettably, I encountered several issues that significantly affected my visit. The quality of the food, particularly the preparation of the Roti, did not meet expectations, and the prices seemed disproportionately high. Furthermore, there were instances where unordered items were brought to our table. Additionally, I noticed a 10% tip included in the bill without my consent, which felt unexpected and akin to obligating payment for the entire staff's gratuity. These aspects collectively detracted from my overall dining experience and warrant consideration for improvement.

Wonderful Rooftop restaurant with a great breeze facing the ocean (don't expect a panoramic view though). Cleanest, most professional restaurant we have visited thus far in Zanzibar. Staff was amazing and accommodated drinks from off the menu. Food was fantastic (had the Beef Curry as well as Biriyani). Would 10/10 recommend!

The atmosphere and location was excellent, I loved the open air venue and tables near the windows. The service was very polite and respectful, but sometimes a little slow. I really enjoyed both a lunch and dinner meal here and loved their curry dishes! They also had really good cocktails

The setting is pretty nice, though there isn't really a view. They didn't have my first two choices, so I ended up picking Fish and Chips, which was very disappointing. I know, not what you should pick at an Indian restaurant, but still. Don't put it on the menu then. Small amount of soggy fries, two small pieces of fish and just some mayonnaise mixed with cucumber pieces. This costs 20,000 TSH btw. Which is well above the average prices. As dessert, because I was still very hungry, I ordered the Sizzling Brownie, which looked and smelled very nice, but the ice cream wasn't great quality and the brownie was on the dry side. The cocktails are pretty good though, or so I'm told, because I don't drink alcohol. So that's something I guess. The fresh juice was also good and we did get a starter platter free of charge. Wouldn't recommend. Far better options for cheaper in Stone Town.

The rooftop is pleasant, offering a good dinner experience. The staff is polite and professional, and the owner's presence enhances the welcoming atmosphere. However, the lighting could use improvement.

We ended up here after we didn't get any service at two other restaurants. Relaxed setting with super tasty food. The directions could be a bit better, but luckily there was someone standing outside with a menu that could show us where the entrance is. We ended up taking friends there the next day, because we enjoyed it so much! They have quite a variety of interesting cocktails. Tasty food, lovely cocktails, well priced.

Best Indian food in town!!!! Me and my partner both agree. We have been in Stone Town for almost two weeks and have been here 4 times already😳. Cocktails are the cheapest around. The food isn't cheap but everything we've tried tasted amazing and the portions are big...we have had to get takeaway most times. We go at night when it's cool, it's an open air restaurant and it is on the 3rd level so it overlooks some of the town. It's beautiful and creates a very nice atmosphere. Can't recommend this restauraunt enough!

The place and food is good The portions are smaller compared to prices charged. Also at the end of the bill you get 10% service fee charged for no good reason. Actually I was shocked to see additional 10% being added to the bill

If you are familiar with Indian food, you’ll taste that their food is tasteless. Not even salt. The chicken I ordered was raw and not well cooked yet. It supposed to have tandoori and other spices on it, but it had non. The food was also brought cold. The manager defended himself instead of apologizing. My friends order was also tasteless. We changed the chicken into butter chicken, but that one was also a bit raw. Absolutely not a recommender…

These guys are doing a great disservice to Indian cuisine especially Indian vegetarian food. It is really sad that they are selling such pathetic quality food in a global tourist destination and calling it 'Indian' cuisine. I have travelled quite a bit around the world and have visited several indian restaurants outside of India. This one just does not match up. They are just bringing a bad name to our cuisine.

Excellent welcoming staff, up the stairway to heaven, owner lives between Zanzibar and Toronto. Staff was excellent as soon as I noted my allergies they checked every single dish and frequently made sure I didn’t die! Great food and really good prices! Surprisingly very cheap! A good place to experience the spice of Zanzibar without taking a spice tour! Lovely!

I ordered a Tandoori Chicken and i got a frozen week old cold Tandoori Chicken probably pre heated in some microwave, thats how bad it was. Anyway the food quality overall was horrible, this place used to have an aura before but now its a BIG NO NO.

I don’t think I have ever tried such bad Indian food in my entire life. The food was almost inedible, the quality of food was despicable. The smell was horrible as if their chicken was kept frozen for a long time before cooking it. Their naans were extremely dry/ rubbery and inedible. The chicken tikka itself smelt horrible and the meat was not tender at all. The oil they used for frying all the food smelt terrible even on the fries. I highly do not recommend this restaurant to anyone! This was not food, let alone Indian food.

Nice place.. note you will have to climb up around 30 steps or so... the service was good and the food was okay (could do with more flavour)... prices seemed quite high once service charge (10%) and tax (5%) is included

  • 1/5 Miraj D. 1 year ago on Google
Owners were very kind and food tasted decent. However their service was horrendous and the manager very unreasonable. As the nature of the business falls under the hospitality industry providing an excellent service would help elevate the extremely average food served. 1) ordered coffee for after my meal, it arrived during the meal. Asked for it to be taken back and heated. Had to follow up with waiters several times to get that coffee back only to find out the coffee wasn't heated still. 2) certain foods were unpalatable, when we raised this concern to the manager instead of taking the constructive criticism or understanding what we were saying he just dismissed us

We all enjoyed our meal! I just want to emphasize that their food is top-notch! It's very tasty, delicious, and nicely presented. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience for the family, and everyone was happy. Their staff is friendly, and the view is also fascinating.

I love their food, and their service was excellent! All of their staff are approachable, polite, and kind. The place is really fascinating. I will definitely visit again soon. If you're looking for a restaurant that serves great Indian food, I highly recommend this place.

Great service and afordable good cocktails. Verder nice rooftop. We've visited asia several times but this was arguably our best Indian food experience: amazing naan from a tandoor-oven and very complex, good working curries. The seafood is another great part of this restaurant. Overall the number one combinations of Zanzibar's food varieties. Thank you for the great night!!!

Ordered vegetable biryani. It was horrible, could not eat it. When asked if the food was ok, I told them that it was stale and dry. They lied to my face claiming that it was fresh 😒👎 They also added it to the bill. What a way to do business. Great job, guys.

Not authentic as the food had no flavour to it. Whilst the staff are polite, we waited an hour for our starters and they only had another two customers to serve so it wasn't busy. Many items on the menu weren't available. Do not recommend this place as it a big disappointment.

  • 5/5 Alina C. 2 years ago on Google

If you are Indian or are familiar with Indian restaurants. THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU. The food is awful. The butter chicken didn’t taste like butter chicken at all. There was some strange taste to it and my wife didn’t eat it even though she was extremely hungry after 2 days of long flights. The owner might recollect us, but I don’t care, the point is to let you know your food is sub par. There is no Indian taste to it. Chicken lollipops are supposed to have an indo-Chinese sweet taste to it. The chicken was extremely dry and came with some random sauce which gave it no sweetness but just tomato flavor. This is NOT how real Indian food taste like. We wasted our money and had to sleep hungry because of this place. Don’t believe me? Go to tembo hotel and ask to look for garbage. The food should still be there.

We were a little bit disappointed with the place. The staff were like they were making us a favor so it was very disconcerting. The food was tasty, but low quantity and the prices are very high for the quality/quantity. There are other Indian restaurants with best price and client service. The internet voucher is only for 30 minutes, we think that it would be good at least for one hour. (This is not essencial, it’s just a nice to have).

  • 3/5 Rosalie T. 6 years ago on Google
The view & the service were very nice but we were disappointed by the food. The portions were generous but the taste was not as savoury as we expected (not really delicate even though tasty). Last point and to be know, the medium spicy is quite spicy 😬

  • 3/5 Ian F. 1 year ago on Google
Very pleasant, nice (Indian) menu, lovely friendly service, open restaurant. Not knowing how spicy (hot) the dishes might be I asked for my main course to be madras hot, expecting that would be a standard marker. I found my (lamb) curry to be much milder than I was expecting, probably aligned to local tastes. I would order a hotter curry than one is used to if I were to go again.

  • 3/5 Fábio F. 1 year ago on Google
The food was good but very expensive( he can eat with the same quality in other restaurantes in stone town for 2/3 of the price), even though the place only had 3 tables with clients they took a lot of time to take our request after that the food came quickly and it was nice. We wait for 10 minutes for someone the bring us the bill until we just stand up and walk to the manager to ask for the bill and pay.

  • 1/5 Michael G. 1 year ago on Google
Service charge of " 10 per cent " added automatically to your bill is outrageous and basically a con. Luckily I noticed this on our bill because no-one tells you about it. I questioned the manager and he said it gets shared out amongst all the staff. Yeah sure it does..the waitress who served us will.never see a penny of that 10 per cent. I spoke to her too and she said giving her a tip was a different thing. She obviously didn't understand that I had already been forced to pay 10 % on top of the bill..and she was expecting a tip.on top. I did give her some cash..but wasn't happy this boss and place had already taken 10 % from me. This is basically a Con. Won't go back. Food was average anyway and very small portions.

Bad experience, Food and service Not as per expectation. Ordered one glass of lassi which was bitter taste seems was not made with fresh yoghurt, very thin liquid, not worth for money. Had to return to the with complaint. Order Chicken Kathi role . Size of role was small and when tasted relalised smelly taste . Returned again . Other food item portion didn’t find reasonably good while pricing is very high. Not worth for money.

The butter chicken was blunt..it literally tasted plain..the rice was okay..the naan bread was hard and rubbery..they served the food woth chilli that smelled off and wilted vegetables..it was a disaster. The worst Indian food ive ever had

This place is heaven on earth. The staff are very welcoming and the service was superb. The manager was very very humble. We had a nice time interacting with the restaurant owner mrs shobha raja, she too was from tanga so it was fun remembering the olden days. She made sure we got our meals on time and would come and ask if everything was ok. We visited this restaurant 4 times during our trip and the best part was when she gifted a bangle set to my 1.5 yr old daughter. It was really really kind of her. Would highly recommend this place and we will definately visit again soon.

I came here because the next door Krishna house watched me stand waiting for anyone for about 10 minutes. Apparently I have to launch a flare to be noticed. Ridiculous. The silk Route on the other hand has great food and actively engaged staff and management noticing when people need a drink, etc. The food was top notch in both visits. And the service was excellent at the silk route. Krishna house next door is relatively terrible. Silk house is a go to for a vegetalerian.

The quality of food was way below par, we had ordered Makmali boti (lamb) skewers which could not be chewed and we had to return, we requested the meal to be changed to Chicken tikka which again was not that fresh. The remaining food paneer and kadai chicken curries were below average too. Definitely disappointed with the meal

Unobscured views of the ocean and sunset, but also sitting above the beach where people walk by/chill/play football. Relatively new to the area, and so the place attracts a lot of people.
