As a travel agent my 1st impression was good. Nice property. Even though there is some construction taking place here and there. As an African American I was thoroughly disappointed at the inhospitable lobby staff. As the only Africans staying on the property this was a great opportunity for this less tropical RIU property to shine as welcoming to All cultures. So far it is very noticeable that the Hispanic and Latino guest are warmly welcomed are receiving MUCH better service. Will update again at the END of my stay. Update: check in day 1 my family and I we’re enjoying a snack near the pool and we’re asked to leave because we were eating food that we brought from our room. NEVER HAVE I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO US POOLSIDE AT ANY OTHER RESORT PROPERTY! That’s like say don’t use your own sunscreen you can only use it your room unless you bought it from us! It was fruit and A yes A meaning 1 cup of noodles y’all!!! We were at the pool less than 15 minutes. Hope day 2 is better.

Last night we had an earthquake and my friend and I both late 60s had to walk down 27 floors to evacuate which was tough. I just want to thank the night manager for taking such good care of us. We slept on the couches in the lobby. He even brought us blankets and covered us up. Thank you. I also want to thank the general hotel manager for stopping several times to see how we were doing. Great customer Service. Thank you

Hands down one of the best hotels in Guadalajara for business or pleasure it was amazing they have live mariachi, dj at pool, salsa dancing at lobby restaurant, the buffet is outstanding not to mention staff. The rooms could use a little upgrades but other than that no issues what so ever the views from high floors are spectacular. Our new go to when we come I loved the Hard Rock but this just stole my heart 😆.

Pool was not in service but the hotel service was great overall. I travelled with family so they were very accommodating as well to everyone. I will definitely stay here again if need be.

My fitness and I decided to visit this hotel and take advantage of their pool. They offer a day pass of $550 pesos, that you can spend in food and drinks. The pool was nice. But we had issues with the staff and some of the guests. The staff accused one of my friends, who is Black of not paying his bill. It was very unfortunate that the staff decided to treat my friend like a thief just because of his skin color. Also one of the pool guests was transgender and the staff kept mis gendering them on purpose. The staff at Riu needs some hard core customer service training. We did not feel safe there and will not be returning.

Be careful what time is your reservation I always stay there traveling all night the lady wanted me to pay one full day for 2 hours I was earlier beds are super super small I spend over 2k in reservations and that's how I was treated it the only thing I like is the customer service from everyone else except the front desk

The rooms are bigger than expected. The beds are very comfortable and above all, it's very clean. Now let's talk view. Wow- the view is one of the best in the city. We also decided to add the breakfast to our stay. It was worth it. We enjoyed all the great food

Room service food is disgusting. I ordered multiple things the quality was a joke. Breakfast costs extra if you want to eat it from 1030-11am. They have events and loud music several times a week in the lobby we could not sleep even in the 8th floor. They sell day passes to the pool so on the weekends the pool is packed. Breakfast buffet has a huge line on weekends because the omelette station is not separate from the regular stations to the line backs up line crazy. This place is a joke it’s a 3 star hotel at best stay away

Out af all hotels I've stayed in Guadalajara this is by far the best one. Better than hard rock or baruk The only negative thing about this hotel is the parking situation. You have to pay MXN 65 per night equivalent to $3 USD The rest is perfect Room: spacious and clean. Includes a mini fridge with sodas, iced tea, beer, juice and water. Bathroom is amazing cleanliness is 5 out 5 stars. The cleaning person went the extra mile of putting my dirty clothes in a plastic bag. He/she did not mess with my personal hygiene stuff ( i don't like people messing with my stuff ) . My room view was spectacular ( 35th floor ) east side Restaurant: in my opinion I wouldn't eat there every day just because I want to try local cuisine and street cuisine but don't let my opinion keep you from trying the food. the food here it's good, 4 out 5. The thing that makes this breakfast place perfect is the staff. From the hostess to the chefs, everyone here is on top of their game. The waiters really take care of you and will make you and your family feel comfortable and taken care of. They will bring anything you need to enjoy the meal, from fresh orange juice to extra silverware or warm up the tortillas for you. I invited some friends for breakfast along with their grandma so our waiter and basically everyone else made sure grandma got treated like a queen BEST service in Guadalajara Hotel: in general the hotel is amazing, the bar closes at 2 am, they have events on specifics days of the week, salsa, live band, etc. It has a little convenience store and a cafe if you need a quick bite The hotel is Perfect for families and solo travelers I would recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Guadalajara, forget other hotels in the area. This one will amaze you.

At the pool area my mother was sitting on one of the chairs next to an already opened umbrella. Due to the high winds the umbrella fell and hit my mom on the back of her head. Staff was attentive. Later my moms head hurt and she asked for medical care. Management said they can call the doctor at our expense and said that we are known of the risks of the umbrella when sitting next to it?? No one warned us about umbrellas falling and why would we pay for something that was not our fault. It was really more about the principle and customer service and this left me very unimpressed. Management kept going back and forth with us with an attitude..at the end of the day my mother decided not to get medical care from the frustration. I have stayed at other Riu's in PV and Cancun but now I don't believe I will be returning to any Riu locations.

The hotel boasts an excellent location and comfortable rooms, making it a convenient choice for both business and leisure travelers. However, I found that there was room for improvement when it came to catering to guests leading event groups. The positives first: The hotel’s location is truly a gem. Situated in a prime area, it’s surrounded by various attractions, restaurants, and convenient transportation options. The rooms are well-appointed and offer all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. However, I was disappointed by the lack of effort the hotel put into making me feel important when I was leading a group for an event. As someone responsible for the group, I expected a certain level of attention. Unfortunately, this was not the case with the The staff at the front desk. In conclusion, the hotel offers a fantastic location and comfortable rooms, there’s room for improvement in how they cater to guests leading event groups. A more personalized approach and a commitment to understanding the needs of event organizers would greatly enhance the overall guest experience. I hope that the hotel takes this feedback constructively and works towards making all guests, including those managing events, feel equally valued and important.

Best hotel in Guadalajara. Centrally located, food options in every direction. Hotel bar opens at 6PM, they had a female mariachi band which were great. Decent prices, micheladas are perfect. Rooms are spacious and staff is great.

I recently stayed at Riu Plaza Guadalajara . I happened to have reserved the senior suite at the Riu Plaza Guadalajara since I had no issue and loved my stay in this room last time I was visiting Guadalajara. However this time I happened to come across some issues during my stay that will convince me to not come back to this hotel. I hope this information is useful as an improvement for future guests. During my stay I happened to come across bugs all over the room and restrooms crawling in the ceilings and walls. Blankets and Pillow case covers were dirty and contained stains. I find this information to be general but at most I am highly unpleased with the invasion of privacy into my room. I happened to be sleeping in my room and woke up around 4pm with someone inside my room. This person was unknown to me and he was just standing in the living room of my suite room. He exited the room as soon as I saw him, I felt endangered of my privacy and security. I called reception and they did not seem to care about what had happened. I mentioned the receptionist that my room was fully locked and with the do not disturb sign outside the door. I left that same day and came back with my room keys not working to get inside my room. I went to the receptionist and mentioned that someone had entered my room and asked if they could just make sure I was the only one allowed into my room. Again the receptionist did not care and did not assure me of my safety as I was just ignored. Again, I hope this information is highly useful for future guests, this issues have definitely raised awareness t me to not come back to Riu Plaza Guadalajara for a while and other existing Riu locations Overall this is a great hotel by location but the service definitely needs improvement as it is the attention to detail.

Very modern. You have to use the key to use the elevator and to turn lights on in room. Room was spacious and beautiful. They have live music every night of the week in the bar. The mariachi women were fantastic!

Stayed at Hotel Riu in Guadalajara - fantastic experience. Modern rooms, exceptional service, and a stunning views from my room. Great location for exploring the city. Breakfast buffet was amazing with a large variety of options. Definitely coming back to this hotel when in Guadalajara.

Massive hotel. Rooms are modern and comfortable. Lots of options to eat out. Only complaint was that the gym was too small for the size of the hotel, so it ended up being too crowded.

Had over 100 guests stay at this hotel for my wedding weekend. My parents, unassuming senior citizens, who stayed in room 608, had a gold chain stolen that was inside their suitcase on October 22, 2023. Be careful!

Out of the larger hotels this is my favorite. Water pressure issues and the air condition is a bot challenged as the control in my room has no impact. It got down to 65 f - but good for me as I like it cold.

Centrally located to everything. Beautiful inside and out. Service was fantastic. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The restaurant (breakfast) was amazing. Everything was fresh and tasty. All juices are freshly squeezed.

Beautiful but amenities in the room should be updated and fixed. When you walk into this hotel, it is breathtaking, down to what they serve and how they greet you but once you get to your room you have the smallest TV ever and your shower looks like it was made in the 70s….which I woke up this morning and my hot water wasn’t even working. Thinnest blankets I’ve ever had in a hotel room. Overall beautiful hotel and wonderful staff, but the room should be upgraded.

An excellent choice for the hub of your vacation or business trip in the area. The handful of problems I had over my stay were solved quickly, including one I didn't expect the staff to even respond to. In-hotel food is quite good, and Crown Level / Executive rooms are worth the extra cost. Highly recommended.

Great place, very nice room with a lot of space. Breakfast is really good, with a lot of options. The bar at night hosts shows and there's a great mood of everyone, with music, dance and drinks. Will definitely come back.

Great hotel when it comes to room, gym and included restaurant. But 500 Pesos for breakfast is a lot, even if the breakfast area is fantastic.

The bar is so beautiful, but service is not the greatest, you need a better logistic to make it work better.

I can't say enough about my experience at RIU. I was safe, comfortable, and treated well. I was there on a mini-vacation August 18-22. My room was detail cleaned and 'Helga' refreshed my towels, made the bed, and tidied the bathroom each day. The breakfast buffet is worth the price! You will find everything you want and then some. I loved that eggs and omelettes are made to order and served with a smile. I was greeted each day by a friendly hostess and servers. They keep your coffee cup refilled and get what you need without hovering or interrupting. The tables are cleaned and sanitized and so are the bathrooms and lobby. I visited the "To go" restaurant for a quick snack to take to my room. I was happy to find bottled water, sodas, a variety of herbal teas, fruit bowls and ceasar salads. I will definitely come back to RIU the next time I visit Guadalajara.

The staff was friendly and we had zero issues with anything. They have a lovely bar with mariachi at night that runs until 2am. With covid was a bit hard to sit down, but it might be different during other times. Their breakfast buffet is big so it’s easy to find something you’ll like. They also have a premium lounge with food that we didn’t find as worth it because we were hardly at the hotel. Great hotel with great location and staff.

First time staying here at Riu Guadalajara. Staff were friendly and helpful. The entire place was clean and appealing. For an extra fee we had a buffet breakfast which included a variety of excellent Mexican and American foods. Overall we had a great stay and will book again next time we're in Guadalajara.

Rooms are fine. The reception service and the managers support is terrible... we stayed one night and the morning they didn't respect a prepayed budget we had for room service and no one helped to solve the problem.

Nice moderno rooms, with friendly staff. High end accomodations for about 80 to 100 dollars per night. Walking distance from many attractions in Guadalajara.

Service was slow like sh...t it looks like mexicans take siestas more often that we expected. The bill was a little over price. But nice place go for some drinks. Saying this we didn't stay in the hotel. Just food and drinks. The location is good. But with some many places to visit in gdl, i would probably go to another place for a drink.

We enjoy the pool on a Sunday it's a really cool scene and the DJ and service was great! You can buy a day pass if you aren't staying at the hotel, it's a great Sunday Funday spot!

Sunday Day Pass. Do it! $550 consumption minimum. DJ starts at 2pm until 8pm. Party/Spring break atmosphere. For some reason even though it was a super sunny day the pool was so cold 🥶 -nothing a few shots of mezcal wont help with. Lunch was good. Mimosas were not. Bathrooms are ample and clean. Do take an umbrella upon arrival. I wanted to take sun for a couple hours and when I asked for an umbrella I was told there were none left. The entire pool area has 8 umbrellas?? There must have been 200 guests at the pool. Riu: Please stop being cheap and place an order for sun umbrellas. Everyone had to huddled up by the glass wall like cattle. It was a fun day and I will be back.

We arrived early at the hotel, front desk personnel asked us to wait couple hours until the rooms become available for an early check-in (extra fee). Two hours later front desk personnel changed their crew. New staff said we cannot do an early check in. Wasted 3 hours of our time here, when we could’ve taken the business else where.

We stayed here twice in August and it is a really well run hotel - quick, friendly check in, big rooms, nice public areas, excellent breakfast for a 4* with notably helpful and friendly waiters and chefs - it's not in the centre but only 15 mins by cab and much better than the city centre hotels - decent pool marred only by outsider being allowed in at weekends when it becomes a sweaty pool party

Great deals through Expedia. Must have been the best 10 years ago. We got the huge senior suite with incredible views for cheap. Down sides, water pressure issues, noises, inconsistent room service....

Spectacular high end hotel tallest building around. Stunning entrance with high ceilings and artistic sculptures all around. Each room is different but for the most part they are all well kept, I liked how our sofa turned into a bed that was a plus!! All inclusive hotel with all you can eat buffet with a variation of food. Nice pool the water felt warm which was ideal! Spacious gym with towels and water inside. Chardonnay restaurant was 💯 check out my review.

The front desk was very rude. The hotel staff did not greet me well, the phone service & reservations line doesn't answer and the head of front desk employees told me they would not honor my prepaid reservation unless I paid another 7,000 pesos. Esperanza the front desk manager was unwilling and unable to provide a resolution.

Currently in the lobby waiting for a room after we received a email confirmation that our room was ready at 9am called to confirm spoke to Emma I think her name was and she confirmed. Once again Monica the lady in the front desk with the worst attitude is refusing to give us our rooms. She really needs some type of customer care course or something seems like she hates her job. You definitely need to keep her away from customers. We came from a 9 hour flight and while waiting for our room my cousin was dosing off and a worker came and told him he better not fall asleep. I can’t believe our experience here. The start of our vacation tainted
