The Holy Intercession Bishop's Cathedral is a monument of religious architecture and urban planning of local importance. The first church, which was located on the site of today's Holy Intercession Bishops' Cathedral, was built in 1778 mainly from wood. In 1886, on the site of the former Church of the Intercession, the Holy Intercession Cathedral was founded, which was destroyed in the 30s of the 20th century. In 1993, it was decided to recreate the Holy Intercession Cathedral in its original form. Construction of the temple lasted 14 years. Architect Dmitry Romanov found in the Synodal Archives of St. Petersburg photographs of the cathedral, which stood on the site of the reconstruction of the temple before the October Revolution of 1917. The designers studied in detail the architectural features of the church on Cathedral Square and were able to develop drawings for the construction of a new church. The new temple became an exact copy of the main temple of Aleksandrovsk, which was destroyed at the beginning of the twentieth century. Today the temple is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the country, 53 meters high, with a vivid image of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a rare iconostasis in the Ukrainian Baroque style. The iconostasis was probably created in 1730. For more than 200 years it was in the Church of the Archangel Michael in one of the rural parishes of Podolia. It is possible that the Cossacks also prayed in front of the ancient iconostasis to strengthen the Orthodox faith. In 1938, when the church was finally destroyed, the iconostasis ended up in a private collection and was prepared for export abroad. But subsequently it was transferred to the Zaporozhye diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Faith to Everyone😇 and Love❤.

Ukraine has many churches that were resurrected after being destroyed in Soviet times, and Zaporizhia’s Holy Protection Cathedral was one of the most challenging projects. It was originally consecrated as St Cyril’s Cathedral in 1886, but met an untimely end when it was pulled down in the 1930s. The project to rebuild the cathedral started in 1993 and archive architectural plans and photographs of the building were tracked down in St Petersburg. Construction would take until 2007, and the new church is almost an exact replica of the one that came before, even down to the vibrant image of the Intercession of the Virgin inside.

(Translated by Google) P.S. The temple must hire a police squad for the holidays. To guard the gates, surrounding areas and visitors, respectively. At Epiphany 2022, all the gates of the temple were occupied by gypsies. A whole landing of several dozen gypsies. They ran after people in the literal sense, they didn’t ask for money - they demanded it. Who are those in need? Why does the temple not respond to such "beggars"? Recently, a young gypsy walked around the temple itself and begged for money. I was afraid that she would steal the purse ... _____________ The temple is located on the avenue, stop. "Bazaar" (Angolenko). I live nearby and go here all the time. Energy is good. Choir never heard. Surprised that they write about him. Cons - the eternal unfinished, dragging everything inside from place to place, drafts in summer, extinguishing candles, lack of a source of holy water. A clear plus is the beautiful area around ... Before the revolution, in the old church, my great-great-grandfather, the future priest, was baptized here ... It's bad that, living in the neighborhood, I CAN'T have a confessor here. When it’s hard, it’s easy for me to get here, but I can’t consult with the priest. Fathers have always been different over the years. I can't remember them. All of this is not conducive to the desire to share problems. There is no community. I have a feeling of loneliness. But in a small temple nearby, there is no one at all except a shopkeeper. It's still better here. And candles, by the way, are cheaper (at least they were). Therefore, I come only to pray, submit notes and light candles. I do not participate in the services - it is difficult for me to stand for such a long time for health reasons. And ashamed to sit under the wall. It is a pity that Orthodoxy does not spare legs and backs and rejects benches like in Catholic cathedrals... Such are my impressions. P.S. Wow! Finally, another beautiful gate was completed and a blank fence was removed from the side of the old post office building. Now the architectural composition has become even more attractive.

Very beautiful cathedral, blessed services. Here you rest your soul and body, when you leave the temple, it’s as if you lift the whole weight of life’s problems from your shoulders and feel lightness and joy in your soul!

To each according to his faith! Beautiful temple. Beautiful paintings on the walls. God should be in the middle of your heart and not in the middle of the temple! God bless all of us sinners!

My name is Michael and I came to the Ukraine in July to visit your beautiful country, Two blocks from my hotel was the beautiful Russian orthodox church and I’ve visited there many times. The church is so beautiful and as I walked in it took my breath away with not only its beauty but my respect for our Lord Jesus. Christ is king

A very beautiful Cathedral🕌, at one time, until 1917, there was a Cathedral on this site🕌. So this place is a “holy place”. I recommend visiting this place.
