The only one in Ukraine and one of the largest Shipping Museums in Europe. Under the same roof as the museum is a restoration hangar where boats are given a second life. The museum is located on Khortytsia, where in 1999 the Cossack “seagull”, the main exhibit of the museum, was raised to the surface. The pavilion is located next to the Equestrian Theatre, but has nothing to do with it. I visited the museum in 2018 and 2020 and noted changes for the better, new stands and new exhibits appeared. The caretaker spoke interestingly about many of them and actually gave a tour. That's why I give it 5 points. Not far from this place there was a shipyard, which was founded on the island of Khortitsa in 1737 during the Russian-Turkish war. The shipyard was built where it was possible to bypass the rapids of the Dnieper and transport the fleet. They built brigantines, as well as kayaks and boats, which were very reminiscent of the famous Cossack “seagulls”. In just two years, more than 400 ships were built, some of them sank during a powerful flood, some were unable to overcome the Dnieper rapids that stood on the way to the Black Sea. And now they are being lifted from the river bottom. A few years after the Cossack "seagull" they found a brigantine, a dowel-boat, a one-day boat and a canoe. Today, the buildings are mothballed and are gradually being restored. The museum's collection includes more than 30 anchors of Cossack "gulls", Russian brigantines and Dutch galleys. Some have no analogues in the whole world. Usually the museum is visited together with the Equestrian Theater. You can get there on your own, although it is difficult. A 20-minute walk from the museum is the village of Ovoshchevodov, where minibuses go. I didn’t go there myself, but I saw a minibus at TsIMezh, the village residents use it to go to work. I copied the information on the site, but it might be outdated. Minibus schedule No. 91: House of Culture of Kirov - Ovoshchevodov village Weekdays DK Kirov 6:30, 7:30 and then an hour later Pos. Vegetable growers 6:30, 7:30 and then an hour later Saturday 7:10, 15:30 return 7:30, 16:00 Sunday 7:10, 13:30 back 7:30, 14:00

One of the largest shipping museums in Europe. At the same time, it is also a workshop for the restoration of ancient ships, Cossack seagulls and artifacts raised from the bottom of the Dnieper. It is here today that the famous Cossack Seagull is located, which was lifted from the bottom of the river by the leader of the "Time Machine" band Andriy Makarevich. The Seagull Maritime Museum is located on Khortytsia Island. In 1999, the main exhibit of the museum - the Cossack seagull - was brought to the surface. The shipyard on Khortytsia Island was founded in 1737 during the Russian-Turkish war. The place was chosen to bypass the Dnieper rapids, through which it was impossible to overturn the Russian fleet. Russian brigantines, boats and boats were built at the shipyard. The last two strongly resembled the legendary Cossack seagulls. After two years of construction, there were about 400 ships on the island, but some of them ended up under water during a strong flood. One of these cases was found in 1998. Another 9 years later, they found a dowel-boat, a brigantine, a one-day boat and a boat. Now the hulls are preserved and are gradually being restored at the boathouse on the island.

Museum-Laboratory of Dnipro Shipping. Two seagulls, a frigate and a trio of small vessels are being restored and assembled here. There is a collection of anchors. Excellent tour, book now!

Sponsored adequately this place could become one of the most popular 'must visit' places in Ukraine. Guides are divers who pick all the vessels from the bottom of Dnipro themselves. So they have really much to tell you! Let's hope this magnificent place is once noticed by government...

Living in Ukraine and not seeing the famous Chaika?! The scale is mesmerizing. One can only imagine what it was like during the Zaporozhye Sich. ;) Great excursion. But... it's a bit far and not a very good road. Only by car.

Interesting, but according to the stories it should have been on a larger scale. Basically interesting if you like history. Personally, we didn’t use a guide - we were passing through and didn’t have much time... but we overheard a little from the excursion group - he says very well. Interesting!

The idea is good, the execution, as always with us, is through “thorns”. The ships were raised in 1999 and 2004, and restoration began later. Pay attention to the photo of the brigantine in 2004 and now, in 2021. Same condition. But a banner proudly hangs with a notice that all this is “with the help of the US Embassy”! Helpers, damn it! They completely forgot how to do anything, the country was torn apart, there was no money left for space or the sea. We just say it to anyone, but we don’t know why...

Interesting museum, it's a pity that it's small.

It is very interesting to hear all the stories about kosack's ships but this museum needs more finances it can earn itself

A very interesting place where you can touch history, interesting exhibits. But this museum is not a museum, because it has not yet received the status of a museum, there are no equipped stands and tour guides, if you are lucky enough to catch one of the employees, you will get an interesting story about the exhibits, Sich and Zaporozhye rapids and Ukrainian shipping. But this museum has several significant drawbacks, first of all its location: the path is not close and extremely inconvenient, the road is sometimes as wide as one car (bus), but all the inconveniences were definitely worth visiting this place!

A very beautiful museum that has no analogues in Ukraine. I strongly recommend everyone to visit. Special thanks to the staff of the museum for understanding non-standard situations of visitors :)

It hurts from the fact that there is no state support in matters of restoration and storage of historical artifacts. Judging by the stands to the ships, the museum would not exist if it were not for funding from the US Embassy.

Small but proud Zaporozhye Shipping Museum. It's definitely worth a visit once! There are not so many exhibits, but we were glad to touch the history of our city and the Cossacks! The entrance ticket for three was very affordable, it cost 90 UAH: 36 UAH for an adult and 18 UAH for a student.
