One of my favourite places in the world. The nature here is so overwhelmingly beautiful with great views of the river, canions, mountains and lots of wildlife. This time we stayed 2nd half of september and saw brown bears on 3 occasion as well as vultures, birds of prey, Rebeka, foxes, snakes (adder) and many others. There are many hikes in the park. Amongst our favourites are Valle de Lago, the brana route near La Peral and the 3 lakes route. We love to stay at casa Marcello which is in Veigas (close to Pola de Somiedo) and has great self catering rooms and a lovely host (Olga). The baker comes to the village every day around noon so you can buy some great wood oven bread, but you can also find him in Pola.

The most stunning area in Asturias; you can easily spend 2 to 3 days exploring the beauty of Somiedo with many hiking routes and epic nature.

Visiting during the week is amazing, no people around, just animals and stunning nature to explore.

I have been hiking close to the Lago del Valle. I easily can say that was on my Top 10 Hikes ever! Such beauty! I am still all in aww. You will get to see a lot of mountains both close by and in the background. You will have lakes as well as you have nature itself. If you pay attention you will find lots of birds, lizards and insects. And I might have been lucky - only few humans. You easily get the chance to forget civilization as only very view buildings spoil the view and you not even have reception for most of the time.

Great place to visit for an easy trekking. Views are beautiful. If you go to the Valle lake, it is better to choose the path in a shadow as it is much more interesting than the sun/sol route.
