The service was faster than most African restaurants I have been to. Ordered over $70 in food and it was all ready in 20 mins!! Then went next door to sit down because this part opens up at 11 a.m The decor was great and the the service there too was friendly and professional. All the food was delicious 😋 will definitely return. 10/10 will recommend 👌🏽

I was excited to visit this place due to high rating from some friends. I ordered fried rice, and white rice and atadindin. While waiting for my food to be ready, i decided to get meat pie. However to my surprise, there was a surprise in the meat pie……A COCKROACH OMG. I went back inside to show them…there was little remorse from the staff but only offered to replace it. I was too tired and hungry to say anything and just left with the reminder of my order. The fried rice was disgusting and not cooked completely…my husband throw it away. I don’t understand the high rating of the restaurant but go at your own risk.

I had really never tried Nigerian food before. I'd heard of jollof rice. A friend had recommended trying egusi soup. I've had meat pies that are similar and I'd recommend that to anyone who's down to try something new. So I really like this restaurant. It was fairly quiet during between lunch and supper. I got to try some great Nigerian foods. It's a great culture experience so it would recommend to anyone in that area. I'm definitely going back when I'm in that area. And I would recommend trying the jollof rice and egusi soup to anyone not familiar with that cultural food. On a side note I really liked the ceiling so I included a picture of that as well.

This place was fun and peculiar, in a good way. There's the takeout (no seating) counter entrance, pictured on Google Maps, and then there's the "gourmet dining" entrance around the corner of the building, next to the adjacent Ethiopian market. Same restaurant, two different entrances. The "gourmet" (seating and full service) area is a trip! All black and gold inside, with a highly unique and very cool field-of-grass-and-flowers ceiling. Literally looks like a grassy field with flowers above your head. The food was solid. Flavorful and delicious. Loved the jolloff rice with goat meat. The ubiquitous Nigerian "puff-puff" (think small round balls of slightly sweet fry bread) is a must. The Egusi soup (with pounded yam) had a nice spicy bite. Service was very friendly, helpful, and quick. I ask a lot of questions and the lady was super nice and guided our choices. Go try this place! Support local business!

Horrible service and attitude of staff and owner, and wished there was provision for NEGATIVE 5 rating so I could rate this place properly. Placed an order they promised will be ready in 25minutes, kept me over an hour after and my order was still not ready. Complained and they didn't seem to bother. Eventually had to leave cos they didn't attend to me or even bother checking what was delaying my order. Disgustingly, the owner just sat down there and messing with his laptop while all this was going on. What a shame !!!!

This was my 2nd time visiting this wonderful wonderful place. Never has traditional African food before and I’ve been wanting to try it. I’m glad my 1st experience was here! I explained to the staff it was my 1st time and they were very patient and helpful. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, clean bright environment and the prices are reasonable.. If you’re looking for authentic African food, look no further.

Good restaurant with good food and good music. I’ve visited a few times. The service has gotten tremendously better. Though the price has increased significantly. My go to orders are the jollof rice with meat and fried plantains, the suya. The egusi soup with fufu or the okra soup with fufu. But I’ve tried a variety of other things on their menu like the isi Ewu, the nkwobi, the meat pie, the puff puff, the peppered snail and the fried rice. Consistently, the food has always been great. I think the restaurant is a good place to try if you want to have some good Nigerian food.

The service is poor and slow even though the restaurant was nearly empty. 45 mins had passed without even receiving water. Small portions for a great price. Chicken was very dry and not flavored well at all. The Goat dish was decent, tender but only three small pieces of goat meat that contained bone. Meal photos look better than they taste. I recommend going else where for a good tasty meal. I will not be returning. On a positive note, the restaurant looks nice and clean.

I had a very enjoyable meal at Jolloff Etcetera. I ordered Amala, ewedu and gbegiri with assorted meat. It was absolutely yum!!! First time here and I shall definitively return. I recommend if you have a taste for authentic Nigerian cuisine. By the way, I love the vintage car representing the Nigerian flag colors parked right in front of the restaurant. That’s so cool. Good Service ✅ 🚻Restroom Courteous Staff✅ Lovely Ambiance ✅ 🚻Restroom✅

Customer service is abysmal, I bought food and asked for it to be cooked with spice and to add an extra cup of spice on the side and was willing to pay for it until the owner tells me “ITS ENOUGH”. Huh? If I want 15 cups of spice with my food then that’s my business, I am the customer. Isn’t it easier to say that your low on food/spice (like they always are) and are trying to ration. How dare you tell a customer what they can or can’t do or have when they have a reasonable request. Spice? REALLY? On top of this the food is overpriced and takes FOREVER to come out of the kitchen, literally hours, so make your own judgements. P.S. Leaving comments about how you’re going to improve or get better to smooth over negative reviews is ridiculous. It’s been years of sporadic visits for me and nothing has changed or ever will because they don’t care. This was the final straw for me.

I got the fish, plantain and suya. Food was delicious. The suya had pieces that were dry but overall, I enjoyed the meal. The music choices were good but the quality could be more consistent. Staff was attentive. One of my favorite places to get a bite.

Great Nigerian restaurant. I was seated immediately when I entered. The service was fast until a large party came in but the wait wasn't too long. The jollof rice was excellent. Great flavor and portion size was really good. The baked chicken was very good and flavorful as well. When I left,, I noticed a few doors down a carryout of the same restaurant.

Awesome food.....worst service ever....it’s best if you already ordered your food before leaving your home....that way you don’t have to wait for too long....from the time you walk in through the door to the time you get your food takes an average of about 30 minutes.....Poor Customer service....untrained staff members....if I were you and I’m really hungry...I’ll go somewhere else.

The lady took my order for 2 sharwama, she told me it would ready in 30 minutes, I got there in 40 minutes to find out that she only put in an order for 1 sharwama. She lied that the second one would be ready in 5 minutes, I stood there for 20 minutes, no communication or apology whatsoever. I got angry and left. Wasted 1hr of my life because of terrible customer service and incapable staff. This is not the first time this happened

The food is tasty, but the place is so ..so..soo very disorganized!!! You can order your meal 90 minutes a head of time and come find that it " will be only a few more minutes sir". They could learn a thing or two from swahili village when it comes to service.

Went here with a large party for my friend’s bachelor party. Despite how many people we had, the service was good and the food was fantastic. I got the Ata Dindin, super spicy and delicious. I loved it. The Puff Puffs were also excellent.

Food was nasty rice too salty fish separated from the goosy soup like that makes no sense at all and they give you such a small portion for the amount of money. The goat that’s supposed to be go, but it looks like cows foot which I don’t mind, but it was supposed to be go. It was super tough will never order from there again.

The food was delicious 😋. I had a nice experience and got to try 2 different nigerian dishes. The place was neat and the service was quite fast when we ordered for the food to eat there. The service at the section allocated to-go foods was a different story, though. They were quite slow, but it's nothing a good pie can't fix.

Jollof Etcetera, Maryland USA, is an African run restaurant, basically more of Nigerian foods and pastries. They have a wide range of Nigerian foods that you can find there, ranging from jollof rice which is there major or star dish judged by the name of the restaurant. Then you also have Nigerian soups such as oha, ewedu, egusi, okro, white soup. They also have white rice and regular stew, then they have this very particular stew that I love (hence I gave them 4 star instead of 3 or 2. Will explain why I gave them 4 and not 5)....the stew or sauce is called "ata dindin", it is a very peppery/spicy stew and very delicious, with pieces of assorted meats in it, such as shaki, fried beef. The shaki was well cooked and soft. Now let me give my reasons for giving them a 4 star instead of 5....the staff!!! They are usually rude. I have been to the restaurant about 4 times, and every time a different person is rude, so it's not one person. They are never patient to understand what the customer wants, when trying to make them understand, they start making nasty faces like you are bugging them. For heaven sakes, no one is putting a gun to your head to work. Stop making it look like you are doing any customer favours, the food is not free, so please they need to behave. Other than that, their food is good, the place is quite neat, but I believe it could be better, and they puff-puff the last time we visited, and it tasted so good.

Purchased an order of Asun in the absence of other menu items I intended to purchase, which were unavailable at the time. The meat was tender and succulent, but (warning) very spicy. Definitely will be coming back to try other items.

  • 3/5 B O. 3 years ago on Google
To be honest, I'm only giving Some stars because they have certain dishes that taste good. Other than that, some of these restaurants you have to check your meal for cleanliness making sure it's safe to eat. Nothing like a piece of paper or something inside. and the wait is sooooo long. They have to be strategic because the wait shouldn't be that long it's not that serious!!!! Stop making people wait for 30 minutes in the restaurant especially if they called in already.

My sister and I stopped here this afternoon for Jellof rice, ewedun, edikaikong, and Asun. The Jellof rice is THE BEST & most AUTHENTIC I've had ever in Maryland! The rest of the food was also deliciously top notch. I usually drive all the way from Frederick to Queensway and this restaurant just changed that.

I just fell in love as soon as I entered. I appreciate the courtesy accorded me from the lady and the guy at the entrance. I loved the decor, the place is very neat. I got some Jollof rice for my son, he shared it with his friend and both loved it.Their comments made my wife and I to return for a take away dinner. I know it’s going to be great, I can’t wait to dig down into the food. Keep up the good work!

The delicacy and customer service is great. You don’t find too many restaurants where the owner is interested in the satisfaction of their customers. Jollof Etc and their management are interested in the satisfaction of their customers. The soup Eru is similar to Afang soup among the Ibibio / Efik tribe of Nigeria and so is Fisherman soup, equivalent to white soup among the Ibibios / Efiks. Food ration, cleanliness, service, menu and everything is definitely clutch ! Try these options! Side note, I’m not being biased because I am Ibibio, but you’ll love my recommendations.

Why are these ladies blatantly rude for no reason? With the kind of treatment I received here today I am even afraid of eating the suya I bought. I mean these are my food handlers, who I patronize all the time.I fear for my life, I won't be returning because food could easily be poisoned. The manage or owner could benefit from putting these ladies through a customer service training program. I can offer this training free to these ladies. I don't live there with these guys, I just stop by, place an order and pick up my order. What is the animosity all about? At least the delivery guy was there and saw what happened today. Whatever that is eating these ladies up should be dealt with fast lest they harm innocent customers who come here to eat . This is just disheartening. A polite and short response to a "hi" wouldn't harm any of the two big ladies I met there today. You don't pick up your calls, then abandon your caller while speaking to someone else on the background without simple courtesy(horrible telephone etiquette). I would welcome a brief meeting with the owner and the two ladies I met there today. Trust me , I am not alone on these opinion and complaints. The owner is really working hard to deliver a vibrant brand but the staff here is a major cug in the wheel. Barbara
