Outstanding. Based on a recommendation, I reserved a table for 2 on a Saturday for their 7 course lunch menu. Starting with amazingly refreshing, bright, and punchy cocktails - we got the show started. Highly recommend starting with one (or two!) of their cocktails. Too many brilliant courses to describe but favorites were the octopus, scallops, plantains, and crepes. EVERY dish was beautifully presented and artfully serviced. The flavors were so unique and I just loved the attentive service from the waitstaff. I enjoyed every minute of the 2hours we spent there and left extremely satisfied and invigorated (Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee helped!). More impressive is the size and efficiency of the kitchen to produce such high quality mastery. On your way out, wave to Chef Jeremy Chan and his talented team. A highlight of my trip to the UK. Highly recommended.

We love everything we ate there! The food was so delicious and we also ordered the green tea, oolong tea and puerth tea, which were very authentic! And this restaurant did provide a covid safe environment. The staffs wore masks too. Highly recommended! Def will come visit again!

Very cool, chic fine-dining restaurant with a very interesting tasting menu. Fine dining West African makes for an unusual and interesting eating experience. The service is impeccable and some of the wines are stunning. Very simple, paired back, elegant design. A good place to go to impress, of you have the budget.

Prepared dishes were pleasant, but not wow'ed. It's a missed opportunity that the service team didn't spend time to engage and explain the matching of ingredients and design that goes into the dish. The tea pairing was enjoyable. My usual habit when dining at a Michelin restaurant is to place order for sparking water with a few ask with it. It will show how much the staff is paying attention, and if they considered the customer experience; as these will give a preview of what I am going to get for my entire evening. On this regards, the house has failed to impress.

One of the top London restaurants, but that you can tell from the recent promotion to two Michelin stars already. Here is what I can add: Came for a solo dinner on a weekday night. The dining room is rather small and feels a bit stale, which I found surprising. The service was sort of minimalistic, friendly and professional but rather contributing to an indiscriminate atmosphere. But then the food started. The first barrage of amuse bouche, including some nibbles of octopus and lobster, already pointed into world class territory. What followed was a superb menu clearly showcasing a kitchen that is at its heights. Trailblazing cuisine, very distinct while at the same time approachable. The level of product quality here easily justifies the 185 pound menu price, some of the stuff was world class. Such as a dish of scallop with a luscious dollop of top of the line N25 caviar. But then again it is the dishes like the Jollof Rice or the plantain that will stay in memory forever. This is food of almost emotional quality and indeed some of the best I had in 2022. My only true point of critique would be the wine list. It's kind of erratic and seriously overpriced. Most bottles that tickled my fancy came with ludicrous markups somewhere north of a factor of four over retail price. It almost feels like they dont want you to drink wine by the bottle. That worked on me at least and I went with some good cocktails and one (sic!) glass of arguably nice wine. Next time, BYO!

Excellent food with a twist at this luxury restaurant. Set behind a non-descript door on the corner of The Strand and Surrey Street. It is easy to walk past, we did twice. There is only the brown door with the name on it in mid-size script. Once inside it is a very Scandinavian with clean lines and muted lighting. The first thing to notice is the food store with turbot and meat hung to age to perfection. That sets the tone for the evening, discrete but with attention to detail and to providing good quality. There Is no menu to choose from, a seven course blind tasting menu is the standard offering, or rather the exceptional only offering. All tables start service between 18:00 and 19:00 to allow for dedicated service to the table and exacting preparation in the kitchen. The tastes seemed to me to be mainly Nigerian influenced with quite a lot of spices I didn't recognise. I found all the dishes interesting in a very good way. There was one dish where the parts seemed to me not to fit together, even though they were individually very good. Definitely a worthwhile dining experience and one I would be happy to go through again. I just need to save some money for it.

i made the reservations with no expectations, but the west african influenced cuisine and lovely tea pairing blew me away. service was impeccable - they had the right balance of professional & friendly. we had a lunch tasting menu that was paced well. i think the non-meat dishes definitely shined more than the meat dishes, which was really surprising in a good way. the restaurant also emailed me shortly after i made my reservation to confirm & ask about dietary restrictions, which was appreciated. would love to be back someday!

Lunch tasting was phenomenal. Great service, presentation, taste, variety & ambiance. Everything was top notch. They are serving novel yet approachable concepts that are executed perfectly. I can’t say enough good things about it. If you have the opportunity to eat here do so!

An absolutely amazing meal! Had the tasting menu and every dish was pure deliciousness and left you thinking about what flavours you were tasting. The stars for me were the octopus and sweet bread - flavours and textures in each of this dish were unlike anything I’ve had before! I could not recommend this place more!!

Our return to Ikoyi, following its relocation, was marked by a sense of anticipation, but unfortunately, our lunch experience fell short of expectations. Nearly every dish presented an issue with excessive saltiness, casting a shadow over the meal. The redeeming factor was found in the desserts, which showcased a degree of innovation. Regrettably, it appears that the restaurant has lost the distinctive touch that once made it stand out. This is particularly disheartening given the uptick in prices, creating a dissonance between value and experience. Adding to the disappointment was the wine pairing, which, at £100 for four glasses, felt disproportionately expensive. A quick search revealed individual bottle prices ranging from £25 to £45, raising questions about the justification for such a high pairing cost. In light of these factors, it is with a sense of sadness that we've decided not to return to Ikoyi. The overall experience failed to align with our expectations, making it difficult to justify a revisit, especially considering the current price.

I’ve never had any west African food before, so really didn’t know what to expect with Ikoyi. The dinner tasting menu was definitely unique and delicious. A lot of surprising combinations and the food always seem to have a bit of a heat of spice which I appreciate . My favorite is definitely the Jollof rice with beef, and the fish with the brioche. The service was also excellent. I do think the price is a bit high considering some of the dishes are just cabbage and plantain ( they both taste excellent though) Will definitely recommend this to my adventurous foodie friends

Charming staff serving unusual and unfamiliar flavours, expertly prepared, in a lovely, convivial atmosphere. Four instead of five stars as I personally miss the a la carte menu - we would love to visit more often if it didn't require such a huge outlay both in terms of money and time.

I was looking forward to this meal for quite sometime and the unique African fusion fair did not disappoint. For the £75 lunch set, a menu was not given but I loved the surprises. The standout was the scallop with chilli and pepper oil. HUGE piece of meat cooked perfectly with a nice heat on top. Not spicy for the London palate. The meat and smoked rice were unique and got spicier with more rice consumed. The rest were good. Not michelin-mindblowing. The cocktails were tasty and light. The beer / IPA was average and overpriced. Overall a decent meal in a fancy location. Lunch was a little more worth the money.

Really special food, even though plates look small we were so full at the end!! Every dish was well thought off in every small detail, and all dishes were delicious!! Some plates are spicy, but overall super special food and experience!! The staff were also great! They made sure we enjoyed every meal and were super kind.

May 2023 lunch tasting menu: I think there is a big difference between lunch and dinner tasting menu (base on pictures I saw on social media). If you have had lots of fine dining, go with the dinner menu. Starting with my disappointment: My biggest letdown and I’m still thinking about till today is, the signature plantain dish was taken off the menu. I understand restaurants and Chef like Jeremy probably don’t like to be defined by one or two dishes and continue to innovate, however, as a visitor, the first thought about ikoyi’s menu is the plantain dish if you are not in the industry. If possible, would love to see it as an option or add-on. (Ps: the plantain ice cream with caviar is definitely a hit. One of the best veggie/savory inspired ice cream I had in London.) Everything else: I would say this is probably one of those super innovative restaurants in Europe. Even Jeremy was not in for lunch, the execution was flawless. I’ve learned couple cool interesting techniques and ingredients that I’ve never seen before at other Michelin restaurants. I’m still thinking about the squid ragu and the plantain ice cream! Overall, it deserves the recognition, and I will definitely come back again for the dinner menu.

Absolutely loved the whole experience here. Really interesting tasting menu, cooked with incredible skill and beautifully presented. The flavours were spectacular, with really creative use of spices. The service was impeccable, and although there were only a few wines available by the glass, they perfectly complimented the food. Definitely worth a visit, but prepare to pay! The selection of teas at the end are all really interesting and worth tasting, even if you're not normally a tea person.

Interesting west African food at this (now) 2 michie restaurant. Overall some innovative dishes and flavours but ultimately wasn’t blown away by any particular dishes. Also the decor and atmosphere just felt a bit strange - not sure what feel they are shooting for. For the premium price tag I would say there are other places to spend that kind of money. If you fancy west African though I would highly recommend akoko which I love. Very possible the food went over my head as such as I don’t profess to be a west African food expert. 15/20

Good execution of food. The menu is heavy on fish. Not sure if cuisine could be called African. Timing of wine pairing could be improved (too sparse or too close). The rice side was spicy and overpowered the main dish. Wouldn't come back because the restaurant doesn't match other similarly priced alternatives

On my personal podium of London Michelin-starred restaurants. Finally something exciting! Completely different from the usual, boring white-fish-with-foam stuff most fine-dining places offer. Ikoyi has character, a surprising menu, great decor and truly lovely, smart staff. The spring tasting menu, the sweetbread was incredible as well as the rice. Absolutely recommend.

A pleasant experience at Ikoyi in general. The first course Kombucha was quite harsh to take on. Then things get eased a lot. Really enjoyed the lobster and the turbot. The rice is a bit raw/undercooked. When the quenelle ice cream was served with Kaluga, I was quite suspicious. It actually turn out to be quite OK, especially how its sweet and salty flavour was created and combined with the quality of the Kaluga from N25. Although it tastes good, this course should really be overripe plantain according to the menu, I felt a little disappointed when looking at the menu at the end as plantain was a signature African cuisine. I certainly felt service has fallen a bit below expectation. Upon arrival, I mentioned the room was a bit chill, asked for a warm drink. However, the drink went cold really quickly. Was promised refill at the beginning, but I seem to be forgotten and never received any. The chilled environment upset the whole dinning experience to some extend. When it comes to tea and coffee, my friend and I were presented the menu. Because we were chatting, we did not had a chance to look into the menu. The menu was then taken away brutally without asking. I wonder if this is because we were a bit slow and I have felt the pressure to finish and dash off soon. Agree with other review: “timing of wine pairing could be improved (too sparse or too close). Wouldn't come back because the restaurant doesn't match other similarly priced alternatives”. Not quite keen on coming back again.

I had been curious about Ikoyi for quite some time so when I planned a trip to London I made sure to reserve a table. Getting to Ikoyi is fairly easy, and seeing the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised to see that the place didn’t look pretentious at all. It’s a cozy space with large windows. When I walked in the vibe was really warm and relaxed. Our server was really friendly and explained everything very clearly. We did the blind tasting of 7 courses. This is my first time tasting West African cuisine and I found the flavours surprisingly familiar (I’m Indonesian). My favourite dish was the John Dory fish, the skin was perfectly crisp and the meat so tender...the sauce was creamy but not heavy. It was a perfect balance. But for me the clear winner was the dessert of wild rice ice cream...it had this sesame crisp that was sooooo good! I want it in a large container! I had such a pleasant experience at Ikoyi. I recommend it. Almost all the dish have quite a kick of heat to them but everything was very balanced...so for those who aren’t used to spicy/hot stuff...no need to fear.

A really amazing tasting menu and wonderful service - fusion fine dining - West African, Japanese and modern European - a globe-trotting holiday for your tastebuds without leaving London. Gola Pepper Broth Smoked Sirloin & Shishito Pepper Pink Daikon, Smoked Potato & Vadouvan Drunken Chicken Toast Mussel & Saffron Crème Caramel - topped with caviar, mackerel and pumpkin - another standout dish Pigeon Suya - this was amazing - delicious scotch bonnet spicing on the pigeon breast and a lovely crispy sweetbread on the side Moin Moin & Pine Nut - this also had octopus and pork belly Turbot & Egusi Miso - the aged turbot was meaty and delicious Native Breed Rib, Roasted Cep & Sauerkraut (no photo) Smoked Jollof Rice (no photo) - this was one of the standout dishes and something I was fascinated to try and it didn't disappoint Green Yuzu & Rye Amazake (no photo) Black-Eyed Pea & Caramelised White Chocolate - with Austrian honey truffle and caviar - a funky sweet/savoury pudding - with earthy flavour working really well together Black Fig Tatin (no photo) Verbena Berry & Wasabi (no photo)

I did not think it was possible to love a meal this much. Gorgeous setting, incredible staff, inventive food pairings with every mouthful somehow better than the last. A special thank you to our Sommelier who suggested beautiful wines, including my first taste of orange wine! I cannot wait to return to such a special place.

Ikoyi had excellent food and a great ambience but at a decidedly steep price point. The tasting menu had some excellent dishes, especially when it came to the sauces and wringing flavour from vegetables in creative ways. Both the rib and the octopus were incredible. Unfortunately, especially the West African elements that Ikoyi likes to advertise, like the Jollof rice, underdeliver relative to everything else and relative to the fine dining expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the innovative dessert dishes which often fall flat in fine dining. All that being said, I would not call the experience twice as good as the average 150£ 1-star restaurant. To make matters worse, when we went we ended up being overcharged by about 210£ due to waitstaff errors. The mistake ended up being resolved but left a bitter after-taste given that we were paying a premium for excellent and attentive service.

Absolutely brilliant! We went for the tasting menu at lunch time. We were very impressed by this place. The food was outstanding and service friendly and very professional. Came for a weekend lunch which they serve the "blind tasting menu" – you wouldn’t know what they tuck into until at the table. It’s a cozy little restaurant, I like the ambience here - relaxing and comfort. Staff members are friendly and pay attention to details. Great services overall. Dishes are seasonal British produce combined with strong spices from Africa. They all presented beautifully, artistic. I enjoyed the lunch and most dishes, though I don’t find one particular dish outstanding or memorable. The dining experience is quite interesting. It’s a bit pricey but overall I recommend to give it a try.

The food was definitely creative but I don't think it really felt like it leant into much of the Nigerian roots it claimed to be inspired by. A few ingredients could be said to be used in Nigerian dishes but very little from a flavour palette. It was OK, but I don't think I'd go back at the current price, and I don't think it's the option for a taste of Nigeria.

The food is in my mind, highly innovative and joyous, an unusual mix in a michelin place of high end and extremely comforting filling cuisine. We left full and content with the beautiful food. The skill on show really is something else. However, the place desperately needs some acoustic treatments. One of the loudest spaces I've ever been in, I left with my ears ringing with the noise reverberating around the space and frankly was a bit put off going back as it became a bit of an uncomfortable experience due to that. (I'm not an old person who would be more susceptible to noise) Need to get some curtains, acoustic ceiling panels....something!

Beautifully deconstructed and reimaginings of West African dishes cooked to perfection. You can taste the the preparation, the attention to detail in every plate served. I appreciated the creativity and risks they took pushing spices to their limit without completely overwhelming the natural flavor of the high quality ingredients. Excellent service, clean tasteful interior, extra comfy seating. Best meal I had in London, not really close.

I was back at Ikoyi for a blind lunch menu experience with some friends, and they didn't disappoint as usual. In every dish, I could savour the burst of flavours. What even made me happier was the reaction from my guests... Thanks for making our evening. Would definitely drop by, again. What I like a lot was the vegan and non dairy options that were available for my friends who could eat meat, egg and dairy. Thanks for making them feel accommodated. Excellent service all round.

Visited in May 2018 Amazing and innovative lunch. Super interesting and a new experience I believe for most people. Everything was delicious but my most memorable and favorite dish of the meal was actually the gizzards-superb! The plantain, raspberry and smoked scotch bonnet, which was their signature dish was just too spicy for me

Beautiful restaurant, nicely designed and – particularly in Covid times – really well spaced. The service was impeccable and the food was even better. The waiter was really helpful with pairing wines and it felt like a really fun and open place, rather than stuffy or 'fine dining'. Highly, highly recommend for an evening of culinary exploration in lovely settings.

My 3rd visit to Ikoyi and they never fail to surprise me! The night began with an explosion of flavours by the amuse bouche that woke up my taste buds. My favourite is the octopus fried in wild rice with yeasted béarnaise. . Beef is perfectly cooked and the maitake mushroom is just amazing! Sorghum pancake with cuttlefish and trompette make such an interesting combination. . Aged turbot is good especially with the miso and caramelised chicken sauce. Just that the honey brioche on the side doesn’t really go along well… . The only dish that let me down was the clam dumpling. It is a new dish so I guess more work is needed. Caviar already gives a good saltiness but the broth is way too salty that I can’t taste any of the pork, apple or peppercorn they mentioned… . Pistachio ice-cream is really nice! So creamy and buttery yet refreshing with a hint of fruitiness from pear. Oh and yes the plantain is back on the menu!! Definitely will visit again!

Cosy and clean restaurant space, our server was a bit patronising she squatted next to our table to talk to us but not for any others. I like the concept of Nigerian and Japanese flavours fusing but it didn't quite hit for all our dishes. The plantain was nice but an establishment such as this couldn't possibly mess up plantain, pairing it with ginger is classic and works very well together. My octopus was delicious, so tender and cooked to perfection the chard and red pepper emulsion were great accompaniments. The fried chicken - served complete with the entire foot and claw was not very flavourful and pink inside. I'm no stranger to 'chicken foot' but the claws are always removed prior to cooking, each to their own I'm not knocking a different culture or person's presentation it was just interesting. The chocolate, miso and sesame cookie had a chewy, sticky and moist texture. I prefer a caramelised crunch around the circumference of my cookies but this cookie was the same soft, wettish texture throughout, it was unusual but I enjoyed it. The mango ice cream was sublime. The menu changes often so I would return to try a fish dish, the mackerel had run out the day I visited.

Not at all Covid 19 conscious. And some dishes were hit or miss. None of the staff were wearing masks, we were really upset about this. Dining indoors is risky enough, but at least have the courtesy to wear masks. Also, all of the plates are sharing plates, and literally impossible to share safely. To top it off, our chicken was obviously undercooked. Please be aware that the tables are not distanced, and the staff not wearing masks.

Never go again. Bad experience and cannot believe the review is so high for this. - the core restaurant manager asked an outrageous question : “ do you have enough on your credit card? And we don’t accept cash” though we never intended to pay with cash and all of us had an American card in hands - Unable to accommodate vegetarian - really loud for such a small restaurant - lack of character and waiters asked us to wait and didn’t help to pour wine. How is this Michelin service?

One of the best vegan tasting menus I have been lucky to try! Every single dish out of the 13 presented was perfectly balanced in both flavour and texture. The chef has refrained from just deleting the non vegan bits from the vegetarian menu (which I’ve seen done in other Michelin star restaurants and the result is disappointing) but recreated full wholesome savours. The service was excellent and the place feels intimate.

Visited Ikoyi during the London Restaurant Festival. Small restaurant, but it’s got plenty to offer. Staff and service was excellent, everyone knew what and how to do to make people have a flawless experience. The restaurant dining area is somewhat below the pavement outside, people can see what you eat very smart move. The food was exceptional, one of the starters was plantain. I’d have never thought someone can creat such a tasty dish out it. My favourite was the smokey rice, best rice I’ve ever had. Brilliant. On the day the founder of London Restaurant Festival, Simon Davis said a few words during lunch and asked the Chef Jeremy Chan to say a few words. At first Jeremy looked a bit “shy” but as soon as he got to talk about his food and his methods, he was in his own place. It was quite inspirational, and it lifted his dishes to another level, seeing his passion and thoughts he put in creating them. It was an amazing experience and I’m sure I’ll be back here.

Amazing AMAZING food, music, and service! Impeccable finishing touches. Don't eat before you come here because you will be very VERY full. As a West-African, I'm so glad this restaurant exists. Truly a hidden gem!

A wonderful experience of bold flavours and delicious food! The menu was so inspiring pairing spices and herbs with food that I would never imagined would go together. I would highly recommend! The whole experience from start to finish was flawless.

Modern & Innovative GASTRONOMY, that would be the right words to describe my experience at IKOYI. Never been a big fan of Gastronomic food, but the journey across the unknown flavours still has me reconsidering my previous ideas about “innovative” Gastronomic food. The Service was Excellent ***** Friendly and we’ll trained staff. YES FOR THE SECOND MICHELIN STAR

Very cool, imaginative dishes. Their staff spoke about the produce and wine with such passion too! Loved the inventive use of the plantain and, not usually my favourite, the pork was divine. Worth trying their very rare, extremely top end tea and coffee selection too. The best decaf I've ever had by far.

The food is average consider michelin standard...lack of character. Sandwich : the crab meat got several small pieces of shell in it, need improvement. It's a competitive world, 頑張って

I had the most incredible dining experience at Ikoyi Restaurant, making it the best meal I've had this year. From start to finish, everything about this restaurant was exceptional. The ambiance was enchanting, with a perfect blend of contemporary elegance and a touch of African flair. It set the stage for an unforgettable evening. The menu was a culinary masterpiece, offering a unique fusion of West African and European flavors. Every dish was a work of art, both visually and in terms of taste. The flavors were bold, innovative, and utterly delicious. The use of rare ingredients and spices showcased the chef's remarkable talent and creativity. The service was impeccable, with a knowledgeable and attentive staff that enhanced the overall experience. They were more than happy to explain each dish and even made personalized recommendations based on our preferences. Overall, Ikoyi Restaurant provided a culinary journey like no other. It's an experience that I'll cherish, and I can confidently say it's the best meal I've enjoyed this year. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience that pushes the boundaries of flavor, Ikoyi is a must-visit.
