Terrific museum— a great mix of very recent and slightly older modern and contemporary art. The walk through the rotunda is a great way to explore the exhibits, and the architecture is lovely. The line to get in may go around the block, so advanced reservation is recommended. The queues are well managed, and they move fast. The staff is very helpful and professional.

After being back here after 30 years since its first opening it has been run in a bit by the crowds, it definitely looks smaller being an adult compared coming to see it as a kid but compared to back then the museum had more artists show cased on the floors, now all there is are two in the whole place, the art was definitely subjective, like this was the definition of subjective art 🤦‍♂️ still love the architecture of the building. Good place to go if you want some inspiration of sorts. I'm conflicted about the Guggenheim. On one hand, if you're into architecture, I 100% recommend visiting. The Frank Lloyd Wright building is stunning and super intricate. I was amazed every time I looked up. On the other hand, I visited a few months ago and felt that the array of artists was very poor. It may be different now, and if so, I'm very sorry for misleading anybody, but when I visited, the main exhibits only had art by one artist. It was good art, don't get me wrong, but it did feel a bit sterile. They did have one exhibit that featured other artists (which was the only exhibit I took pictures in, and all of that art was fantastic!), but I still felt that the museum was very lackluster, considering the price. I don't regret going here, but I won't come back.

I recently visited the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and was very impressed with its unique design. The spiraling stairs were a particularly beautiful feature, although unfortunately I was only able to see some of it due to painting work being done. I was able to experience the current exhibitions of "Only The Young" and "Going Dark", which were both very interesting. The cafe inside is quite small but clean, and the entire museum can be seen in less than two hours if all areas were open. Overall, I recommend visiting this museum if you have the chance.

The architecture of the building was really nice and it was interesting walking up it. However there was a lack of art inside. There were few display areas and all of it was really empty. Bathrooms are also very cramped and oddly placed. So be prepared or just look from the outside.

Really nice museum, if only from an architectural standpoint. Everything is on a spiral ramp that goes up and then on each floor there are rooms, which usually host an exhibition. Unlike the other museums, this is the only one that has kept the free offer ticket to enter, which is usually on Saturday from 4pm to 6pm. you still need to reserve your ticket online for free admission as well. It is definitely worth a visit, which lasts 1 hour, 1.5 hours at most.

Lovely small scale art museum. Unique building and navigation style. As with most modern art, you would go “I think I can do that” on a number of the displays, and “wow, that’s amazing” on the rest. A good spend of about 2 hours. Check your local library for museum passes, and make your tax dollars work!

I've heard about this museum's architectural beauty but never had a chance to visit here. I loved how it was display artworks inside of the building and they had fantastic European collections (even though it was much less than what I expected). 'Alex Katz-Gathering' exhibition was ongoing which I wasn't crazy about but it was still worth to visit. I highly recommend you to visit here when your legs are not so tired because seeing all the artworks they displayed, you better walk from the top floor to the lobby. Overall, I was happy to visit here to see the beauty of its building. What a beautiful museum!

Really liked it and I'm not normally an art gallery person. Excellent range of art, the primary artist I didn't like but there were plenty more to look at. No glass over the art so you can really get up close to a Renoir. The building itself is a work of art. Recommended.

I have mixed feelings about my visit. The place is so gorgeous and so famous that's worth visiting. But when we've been there, many of the galleries were confused, so there were only 3 exhibition happening - and one of them was very repetitive. Anyway, if you've never been there and you are an art lover, you can have a different opinion. But if you need to choose a single museum in New York City to visit, I would recommend another one - like the MET.

The spiral section of the museum was under renovation to update the exhibits. We still had access to the 2nd floor which has its permanent exhibits. We were absolutely thrilled to see such prominent artists such as Monet, Picasso, and many more. Quite small a collection compared to some of the larger museums like the Met, but still impressive and lovely. The other two floors had I believe experimental Korean art themes, was also very impressive. Overall this was a beautiful museum, the building itself is a work of art. Friendly and helpful staff, complimentary coat check. Would recommend and go again to see what the spiral section has to offer!

Guggenheim is a vibe. The building's architecture is absolutely gorgeous and worth visiting. They also have really well curated shows and I've never been disappointed. Plan your visit for at least 4 hours and experience the entire place. The current show features artists Gego and Sarah size. Tip: They also have pay as you wish hours every Saturday evening from 5-7:45pm . Just book your tickets in a week in advance.

The architecture itself is Guggenheim's best asset. Loved the Korean experimental art exhibition here and i can see that they're trying to do new things. As far as the other collections though, 4 stars overall. Good but not anything super special compared to other nyc art institutions.

I liked the way of presenting of all the arts and painting. Definitely the whole building was amazing. The story of each painting is breathtaking and enjoyed reading it. Also, all the employees are kind and helpful. We had a baby with us and they were so kind to him and open to play with him. Thank you all. Also, the store has a lot of cute and nice goodies. Check it out.

The current exhibits include impressive works by Vasily Kandinsky, Jeanne C Jones, Gillian Wearing, and the Thannhauser Collection. The museum does a great job at controlling crowds and allowing visitors to take it all in at a good pace. Tickets (buy online to ensure speedier admissions) for two was $50 and seeing people support the arts, as we regain some sort of normal, was priceless. One of the best Sunday afternoons that we have had in New York City in over 2 years.

I like the architectural layout of the museum, a one-of-a-kind experience. The structure itself is a work of art, just look at the photos I've taken! The artwork highlighted that week was okay. We enjoyed the cafe space and browsing in the souvenir shops!

Highly recommend visiting this museum if you’re in New York. Thought-provoking and beautiful with a lot of the collection is extremely beautiful and some pieces extremely rare. If you’re in New York you must come visit and also see the architecture of the museum because of the spiral concept. It will you continue to send to the higher levels walking in the spiral. Beware the spiral is a bit tiring because you do feel like you’re constantly standing on the slope as you’re looking at exhibits but in my mind it is definitely worth it. There are breaks for you to break off into the level floors to see certain art collection.

The Guggenheim is an architectural marvel designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright; the spiraling layout of the museum creates a cool continuous effect of viewing art as you navigate upwards through the building. The museum has great contemporary art pieces on each level; I was there in November 2023, when the main exhibition was “Going Dark: The Contemporary Figure at the Edge of Visibility,” which featured a variety of thought-provoking pieces. I also appreciated the exhibition in the side rooms about experimental art in South Korea during the 1960s and 70s. The café is also lovely and pleasant to sit in.

If you’re into architecture and modern art then this place is perfect for you. The outside and inside is amazing. It’s very whimsical. I brought it one star because it’s really not very young kid friendly. It needs to be organized more appropriately for all families regardless of the age of the kid. The cafe needs more food options and at appropriate pricing. Seems a bit pricey for what you get. If you’re a tourist. You can check this out and check out Central Park across the street or Cooper Hewitt Museum a few blocks away. This can all be done in one trip if you don’t mind walking.

This museum is very famous for its building. This is interesting building not only its outside but also its inside. The artworks are displayed along the round shape building. You are walking around the circle building and see the artwork displayed along the inside of the wall of the museum. This museum mainly features about seasonal theme, you can see different artworks if you visit after a few month. The security and staff is helpful and friendly. On the other hand, some room in this museum is permanently displayed the famous artwork, just like Picasso. I am little disappointed me because it’s 3-4-5 floors are not opening yet ...

I don't pretend to know anything about art so can't/won't rattle on and on about how _____'s piece was here and how it moved me BUT I think if you're in NY and planning to visit an art museum, why not the Guggenheim? I'd say almost anyone is familiar with this iconic building but the design and layout of the building inside is equally quirky. Again, I'm not familiar enough with art to comment on any of the collections but enjoyed my time here.

Guggenheim is a must see in New York. The architecture (Frank Lloyd Wright) is unique and breathtaking. The Monument completely stand out ! Very easy to get your ticket, without lining even when crowded. The museum is stunning, we loved getting up with the spiral. And you believe it or not but our kids loved it (7 and 9) 😀

The Current Guggenheim Museum pales in comparison to it's past self. For the price you are paying to enter there are very few exhibits to see. Many spaces are closed for various reasons and the space is able to be explored in 30 minutes. I have visited this museum in the past and the exhibits were plentiful and I could easily spend hours here. Currently if this is your first time here, this would be a skip and I would see any of the other various museums.

I went 5 years ago to this museum and I didn't like the expositions too much in than time, or perhaps I was too young to appreciate it. But I'm so glad I got to visit the museum again, I liked the expositions a lot. They had a lot of contemporary artists but also some classics as Picasso, etc. In my opinion, one of the biggest work of art in this museum is the building itself, which with it ramp, cylindrical and white wall make you feel like you are in a shell 🐚 We got there first time in the morning and it was a medium size line so I recommend get there on time and be patient

Great art gallery in a cool Franklin Lloyd Wright designed building. It's iconic for a reason. When I went in July 2023 there was a cool Gego exhibit as well as a young Picasso exhibit.

The best thing about this museum is the architecture of the building. Art is subjective and I have to say the displays they have are not what I prefer. The best section of the museum is the display of Picasso paintings and other works by impressionist artists like Degas and Monet.

This was my first time at the Guggenheim. I really enjoyed it and I’m not typically a museum person. They had an exhibit about “Going Dark” which was different. The most interesting thing was the walk up resorts the tops. I thought the spiral of the building added more to the experience of walking around and looking at artwork.

The unassuming off-white structure blends into its urban surroundings ... like a slightly dirty polar bear in a zoo enclosure. One would never guess, but there is a spiral gallery inside. Which is cool, but the whole time I was wondering, is the floor tilted or are the pictures hung slanted? (Spoiler: it's both.) Some notable pieces by a Dutch guy named Mondrian who was clearly influenced by the L'Oreal Studio Line product design language.

I’ll have to give this beautifully designed art museum a 3 on the artwork displayed. Come on Guggenheim!, you can do better than having one good floor of artwork - otherwise it’s not worth the visit. Pretty bad when there’s better artwork sold by some of the street vendors. I did love the Picasso though, and that’s why I gave at least 3 stars. Sorry...

Nice museum but not my favorite. Time admission made it not crowded and everyone died social distancing. Since you have to follow the arrows and walk up the spiral ramp after about 2 hours my back was hurting. Most of the exhibits are on the spiral ramp. Definitely download the app so you can listen to info on some of the pieces.

What can be said that hasn’t been said already? You go for the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, and stay for the world class art. No other museum can compare. It’s spiral design is perfect for starting at the top and winding your way down to the lobby and out into the shop. UX design at its finest. Check for open times but also set a reminder for the Pay What You Wish Saturdays to pop in when you’re on a budget.

Had a wonderful day at the Guggenheim! I went as much to see the architecture as the art, but both were spectacular. About four floors of the Frank Lloyd Wright designed spiral gallery were devoted to a showing of Kandinsky paintings from his earliest works to his last. Great opportunity to really explore all facets of this important 20th Century artist in chronological order with helpful descriptions of the paintings and their history. Also appreciated the senior rate tickets for only $18 instead of the regular $25 adult rate.

Beautiful building, indeed. Interesting permanent exposition (Monet, Manet, Picasso, etc.). Classics. Pay attention - they don't have lockers for bags or backpacks! And you have to carry your backpack on the front (so on your belly), and not on your back. So if you can, don't go with too big backpacks. We loved one of the exhibitions (Kandinsky), but not the 2 other ones (not mentioning the artists - it's a matter of taste)... but when you only like 1 out of 3 exhibitions... it's a bit a pity. If you are lucky, you'll be visiting it during exhibitions you like! 🤞

The Guggenheim Museum in NYC is a magnificent architectural gem housing an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art. Parking can be challenging, so it's advisable to use public transportation or nearby parking garages. While the museum may not have specific activities for kids, they can still appreciate the unique spiral design and interactive exhibits. Tickets can be purchased online to skip the lines. Take your time to explore the exhibits, including works by Picasso, Kandinsky, and Warhol. Consider joining a guided tour for a deeper understanding of the art. Don't miss the stunning views from the top-floor gallery. The Guggenheim is a must-visit for art enthusiasts of all ages, providing a captivating experience that will leave you inspired. It didn't take us much time to finish the whole thing.

A beautiful building and art work that makes you think. However as a person that has a very basic understanding of art I wasn't really fully able to appreciate the pieces. If time/budget are limited and you're not an art enthusiasts then you could give this one a miss. It took us about two hours to read and look at each piece.

We went to the Guggenheim Museum as holder of the New York Pass. It was no problem and we had no waiting time. Still there were quite some people inside. The building is a blast as many may know it from movies. There is a fixed exhibition (Thannhauser) that we like quite a lot. The main exhibition changes every 6 months. The specific exhibition you have to check. Anyway, we think it is a must to go there. Staff is nice. Thanks a lot!

The fare was discounted when we went, as they were setting up s new exhibition, but it was still a lot of money to pay for a mediocre experience. There were just a few Brancusi sculptures and a handful of paintings for each of the other exhibitions. There wasn't much in the way if interpretive information; it felt like a bunch of high school art students could have put evenly spaced paintings on a white wall with equally bland results. The building itself is nice on the outside, but cramped inside. If you have limited time or funds, you could easily give this place a miss.

The Guggenheim is a good time. It features a variety of classic cultural artistic images and artifacts with some collectable cools. Every couple months they switch it up to provide an intellectual range of artsy representations with creative designs. The structure of the building winds upwards as you explore each featured exposition. The staff aren't nearly as friendly and helpful as they could be, taking off a star here because they gave me a hard time in the ticket line for no reason, but apart from that, coming here has usually been a very positive experience.

I used my cool culture card for a free admission and I was aware about the restrictions, that most of the levels were not available, so I wasn't disappointed. But it is not nice when there's more staff than visitors and they watch every step of yours and you have to go through several checkpoints like entering the White house and the atmosphere is very non-friendly. Otherwise the arts are good and the names are impressive

I went while they were doing limited exhibitions due to some large scale installation that was going on (they only had 2 out of the 5-6 floors open) but I still had a great time (luckily they reduced admission to $10 during this time). Lots of big/famous names, a great curation of lesser known artists/works + an excellent Lawson exhibit while I was there. Wish I could’ve had a chance to see everything else in their collection - but there will be a next time!

Modern art isn't my thing but I knew that this was a big place to visit whilst in New York. The building is not my style either and it was packed inside. But, I was pleasantly surprised by the Gillian Wearing : wearing masks exhibit. A English artist who made soft masks of friends and fellow artists and then took portraits wearing them. I found it very striking, including the photos of her as her family members. At first glance you wouldn't notice anything wrong and then at second glance you see it. Very cool! The museum shop is well filled and although I personally didn't like this art style im sure for fans of modern art it's a sure thing. I LOVE IT VERY MUCH. THANKS A LOT. I REALLY MISS IT OUT.......

So the building is architecturally awesome. My wheelchair-using friend had a blast coasting down the long curved ramp that is the floor. However, I was not at all impressed by the exhibitions displayed while I was there. Kandinsky and Wearing were not my style. I hope they change it out soon!

My favorite painting was the "Bird on a Tree" by Picasso. Made me smile 🙂 The masked portraits in the Wearing exhibit were fascinating, as were the masks on display themselves (warning, my friends thought they were too creepy). Architecture is lovely, well worth a visit (but maybe on a free day if you're looking to save cash!)

Beautiful building but limited art on display- besides the small collection highlight to the side, I think there were only 3 featured artists in the main building. Definitely a check off my bucket list but I might choose another museum to visit if I come back to NYC.

Visited today in December 2021. The exhibits were insightful: Exhibits: Vasily Kandinsky: Etel Adnan: Light’s New Measure Event, Around the Circle, Gillian Wearing: Wearing Masks - eccentric simplistic pieces that and are thought provoking.

We attended the Guggenheim for the pay-what-you-wish event on Saturday. Make sure you reserve your ticket ahead of time because even though we had tickets, there was still a line that we had to wait in, although it moved fast. The museum itself is really interesting, it’s a spiral structure so it’s a continuous walking experience. Some of the paintings were really cool and the best part was that it was really affordable!

I’m at the Guggenheim Museum and I have to pee. Each bathroom is single occupancy in its own little column like space. I push the door, but it won’t budge so I’m guessing it’s occupied. I go up a level by going through the winding walkway that spirals upward. Another identical island of a bathroom appears and it’s also locked. I repeat this again on the next floor to no avail. Finally, I’m at the top of the spiral and I see out of the corner of my eye a normal looking bathroom door. Too suspicious. I see a museum staff member. Do I dare make a fool of myself and ask him how to access these bathrooms? I have nothing to lose. I approach him and tell him of my plight of inaccessible bathrooms. In the back of my head, I’m wondering if locked bathroom doors could’ve been part of Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision when he designed the museum. Is it part of the contemporary art experience that I am too oblivious to pick up on? The staff member told me all of them must’ve been occupied and the one behind me was open. I was incredulous, but lo, the door gave way, and I was in the bathroom. After using it, I looked around at the exhibit on the top floor. It’s Gillian Wearing, and she’s wearing masks. It was good mix of creepy and intriguing. I go down a level and out of curiosity, try to open the bathroom. It was unlocked! The layout was strange with the toilet hidden from view unless you went around the corner. I took a video and then discovered this floor also had a Gillian Wearing exhibit. Almost every floor had a Gillian Wearing exhibit and on one of the floors had her display of masks she had used as props in portraits. I must’ve missed them on my quest to use the bathroom.

we had a lovely afternoon exploring the installations.... such creative work, especially on the top floor, the artist Sarah Sze, time lapse. it is so intricate and creatively done. also very cool. was the artwork from the young school aged children. definitely worth going and checking out. we neglected to catch the exterior of the building so we missed out. have to go back to check that out! gift shop is cool too! oh, and there are bathrooms tucked away on the other side of the elevator banks...

We went on Friday afternoon and the museum was not super busy but had a nice energy about it. This is by no means a massive museum that will take hours to go through, like the MET across the street, but still has a very large collection of artwork of great interest. I was very impressed with the Picasso exhibition they had when I went as well as some of the more interpretive art on the top floor, due to the age of the building accessibility is a bit questionable in a few areas. The artwork here is constantly changing so keep up to date on what is available so you know what to see. Overall a very charming museum in a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright building.

Good place to go if you want some inspiration of sorts

I came here twice. First time was usual rushed touristy kinda thing. And I was equally impressed by the design of the building and somehow unimpressed by the contents of the museum. Second visit was also in a hurry. But a little less so. You see, there is a trick to savoring art collection of this museum. First there is permanent collection. It is found on lower levels. And then there maybe two non-permanent collections which change throughout year. I was lucky enough to see an exhibition of Korean avant-garde from the sixties. If you have time to enjoy it later in the day, far from tourist crowds - you will definitely enjoy it more.

Who hasn't heard the modern spiral steps, gorgeous white wall, and the beautiful selection of the art of Guggenheim? I was glad that I finally came to this attractive museum. I was actually surprised how inadequately they have maintained the museum building outside. The exhibition hall was adequate but nothing really special. Actually, I would give more praise to our local Amon Carter museum in Fort Worth than Guggenheim. Don't give me wrong. The experience was unique, but it didn't meet or exceed my expectations. Just like almost everything else in New York City, too much hype.

My husband and I visited a couple months ago and had a really enjoyable time. There was no wait time to get in and it wasn't too busy. The only thing I was bummed about was that they were doing renovations to the main part (the spiral) so it was off limits. Again, lovely art here and a must visit for any art lover.

The spiral of the museum is gorgeous. This museum exhibits mainly modern art that changes every certain time. Besides it has a permanent exhibition (including some classic and famous painters). I went with a friend who has a yearly pass to museums in NYC, so I entered as a guest. She had to go to the counter, and even being a Saturday morning, there was no queue. The museum doesn't take long, even going a little slow (without taking the elevator). I went during Autumn, in October, and stayed almost 2 weeks in NYC, so before going to this museum, I had already visited many others. Therefore I would recommend this place, only if you enjoy architecture and you have several days in NYC. Outside, just in front, is the Central Park with multiple places to grab something.

Interesting space that you can get thru in about 2 and a half hours. At the time we saw many different exhibits all with their own charm and themes. This particular visit there was a theme of how people are interpreted in society. I do love how the staff engage with us if we have questions on the exhibits and give their opinions on the overall vision.

I went here because my dad once told me, years ago, that I must visit. Feels small compared to ginormous museums more recently built. But think back to when it was built and how revolutionary it was. Also something more intimate about smaller buildings. Pay attention to the feeling, if you visit. Thank you!

I visited the Guggenheim museum as part of my CityPass. I am going to be honest it is a nice museum, but isn’t the best in the city. For people who don’t have much time, I recommend to go to MET. For the same price you see a lot more. The building is amazing and so photogenic. I enjoyed their permanent collection. For those who buy the ticket on the door it cost $25.

Frank Lloyd Wright building itself is interesting. Most of the exhibition space was roped off. They were installing a temporary exhibition. You can still see a little bit of art from a distance. The museum itself is unique due to it’s shape and design. They offer a free coat check in the main level. The museum has seven levels and special exhibitions are presented on various levels. Walking up the rotunda got me dizzy, therefore, we decided to take the elevator to the 6th floor and walk our way down. We got to the museum at around 12pm, it was a great time because it wasn’t so crowded. He had a chance to view every piece of art without any wait. Restrooms are available throughout the museum. Although, the museum has a lot to offer, I only rated this museum a 3, because of the personnel. Some employees were rude and condescending.

Sweet museum! There’s like, art, EVERYWHERE! I guess the only drawback was that when we went there, there was some sort of deal going where we could get in with not so much fee. So, EVERYONE was there. I counted them. According to my rough (very rough) calculations about 1.2% of the city population was there. But seriously even with so many people it was worth the time and effort. There are classics, new pieces, fun and interesting pieces and some that are challenging and thought provoking.

A Modernist triumph built to house an unrivaled collection of modern art. Solomon Robert Guggenheim (1861–1949) was born into wealth and increased his fortune with his gold mines and other investments. He began collecting art in the 1890s, and after World War I retired to devote himself full time to his collection. In 1939, his artistic foundation, set up to foster the appreciation of modern art, established a museum to house his growing collection. As the art overflowed its rented home, Guggenheim wrote in 1943 to Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1959), America’s preeminent modern architect, asking him to design a permanent home for his paintings. A spiral of art. Wright responded with one of New York’s most extraordinary buildings. Cylindrical in shape and wider at the top than the bottom, it features a unique ramp gallery that runs in a continuous spiral around the outer walls, reaching up to the ceiling skylight. The finished museum is an inverted circular ziggurat that took 7 years to build before it opened to the public in 1959. Inside and out, the building overwhelms.

Walking around the winding ramp delivers a powerful message about the history of environmentalism with a plethora of ideas spanning music, art, philosophy, history, technology, and science. The spiral is closed, which was a huge disappointment but some of the exhibits open are incredible and definitely worth checking out. Only floors 2, 4, 5, & 7 are open! A great place to spend an afternoon and soak in some art and history.

The Guggenheim is a really cool museum with architecture that even though I am a local amazes me every single time. They always have new exhibits that are really fun to check out. Even though I am not the biggest fan of art, this is definitely something you should check out when visiting New York City. Even if you are a local who isn't a huge fan of art like myself, it is still a cool place to see!

Beautiful museum with exquisite art. One of my favorite places to visit in NYC, either by myself or with friends. Would definitely recommend the Guggenheim for a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

Skip the Guggenheim and go straight to The Met....when you have been to the top museums and galleries in Europe you would be so disappointed by this place...Way too over rated...not worth a visit

Great place although not a lot to see atm because of the construction. It's still worth a visit just don't expect to have the full experience. Can't wait to come back when it's all done.

Fascinating art museum designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and opened to the public in 1959. It's located at 1071 Fifth Avenue, and 89th street. It's current theme should be researched prior to visiting. The subway or bus are the most convenient ways of getting there. Reservations are required, and it's currently open Thursday-Monday, 11 am - 6 pm. Children 12 and under have free admission; students, seniors, and visitors with disabilities $18.00; adults $25.00.

Epic! I've always wanted to come here because it is a Frank Lloyd Wright building, it's stunning all on its own, inside and out. But the exhibits were incredible too, and the museum shop was not just a bunch of trinkets, but also items curated to celbrate design and art. In pandemic times, precautions are necessary, but they are clear (wear a mask) and don't disrupt your visit. Across from Central Park and some sweet spots to eat, it was an enjoyable experience before, during and after. Highly recommend!

One of the architectural marvels of New York City, the wonderful rotunda by Frank Lloyd Wright. Always interesting exhibitions and a marvelous permanent collection.

What a beautiful building, and a great layout for discovering art exhibitions (in an upward spiral), we caught a Giacometti exhibition and deeply enjoyed the experience.

Incredible! This is one of my favorite museums. The impressionists wing is exquisite.

Had high expectations but was a little disappointed which was most likely my fault. Most of the art was abstract and it wasn’t my cup of tea. The ones in display were pieces from Etel Adnan and Vasily Kandinsky. Ticket prices were the same as the MET but with less art so that didn’t make sense to me. If in a time crunch, this can definitely be completed in about an hour.

A interestingly designed large concrete museum with definite 2001 (Space Odyssey) vibes, all the way to having an annoying piped in sci-fi hum and questionable modern art (ex. a whole multi floor exhibit about a woman who makes masks and takes pictures of herself wearing them).....but that first floor room of classic master works of art is wonderful and worth the admission fee. There are 1-2 single stall unisex bathrooms per floor that are less than the size of most airline toilets. Glad we went but the real enjoyment for regular visitors will be depending on their interest in the rotating artist exhibits, as they make up 90% of the museum space.

  • 5/5 Pooja G. 2 years ago on Google
Always a pleasure to visit this museum. This is my most favourite museum of all because at a time it is dedicated to art by 2 artists (exception of ground floor). It allows you to soak in the work by artist from their early to late years and understand their evolution well. A must to visit.

A must-see for lovers of Architecture. We loved the exhibits and sat in the cafe that overlooks Central Park for quite a while. Note that there is currently no coat or bag check and vaccine records were checked before entering the building.

  • 5/5 Andrea A. 1 year ago on Google
The layout is great, a very fluid experience. Obviously the architecture alone is a draw but their collections are well done with clear labels. Some of the pieces had a lot of glare because of their placement on the side walls but that was my only complaint. Their are unisex bathrooms on entry level and there's a gift shop at the top and also as you exit the gallery.

The Guggenheim is very fun to visit, for both its wild architecture and its art exhibitions. Entry tickets are a bit expensive at $25 per person, so make sure to check if your employer has a corporate membership. The way the exhibits are curated along the spiral is so fun.

  • 4/5 Kasey Raia S. 1 year ago on Google
I couldn't give it 5 stars because I unfortunately caught the museum when they were switching out exhibitions. Therefore there were only 2 floors open. Fortunately they tell you before you enter and pay, and the admission cost is discounted to $14 (instead of $25). However, one of the floors was still with seeing, the other was not in my opinion. I'm really bummed about my timing for this museum. I would not go again if they only have 2 floors open. From what I saw from previous reviews and pictures, it looks awesome when it's fully up and running.

I think that this is a good museum to visit when in the city but it's not one of my favorites. Definitely still check it out you have time but I prefer the variety of various exhibitions at the Met for about the same price of entry. There are still some great paintings here and I really liked the side exhibits.

The Guggenheim Museum is an iconic cultural institution located in New York City. Designed by the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the museum's striking architecture is one of its main draws. The interior of the museum is just as impressive, with its unique spiral design and skylight that provides natural light to the galleries. However, while the museum's architecture is impressive, the art exhibits themselves may not be to everyone's taste. The Guggenheim Museum has a reputation for showcasing contemporary art, which can be challenging and provocative for some visitors. Additionally, the museum's collection may be limited in scope compared to other major museums in the city. Furthermore, the museum's admission fee is quite high compared to other museums in the area. While the Guggenheim Museum offers free admission on certain days, these days can be quite crowded and may not provide the best museum-going experience. Overall, while the Guggenheim Museum is undoubtedly an impressive institution, there are some drawbacks to consider. For those interested in contemporary art and architecture, the museum is definitely worth a visit. However, those looking for a more comprehensive art collection or a more affordable museum experience may want to consider other options. Based on these factors, I would give the Guggenheim Museum a rating of 3 stars out of 5.

Obviously one of my favorite places in NYC. Fabulous building. We took the elevator to the top and wandered down from there. The side galleries are so much larger than I expected. And for my daughters who don’t necessarily know the art world they were really excited about the current work. It was really exciting for them because it is such a unique environment and the presentation of the work is so engaging.

Wonderful museum that lived up to its rep. The design by Frank Lloyd Wright of course is stunning. You can see a Picasso next to a Monet next to … you get the idea. The Picasso as a young man in Paris exhibit was great. Make sure and go all the way to the fifth floor. Coffee cart and hot dog cart right outside. Plenty of bathrooms. Nice gift shop. Right across from Central Park.

It is not only for people who live artworks, but also an awesome place for people who love architecture and geometric. I really enjoyed my time walking and checking every delicate details in the structure. A bit feeling like go into a whole different world, a different and sophisticated era when immersed in this powerful architecture.

I have wanted to visit the Guggenheim for a while to see the architecture more than the art, and it did not disappoint. Stunning building and concept we really enjoyed it. The modern art exhibitions were interesting and unusual and covered topics I had not experienced in the art world before. Overall, it was worth the ticket price and we had a good visit.

The Guggenheim is a place you hear about over and over especially if you are an art student. Stepping in, I can say thay the building itself is a reason to go. But if you are at all intrigued by modern and contemporary artists then you will have an even better time. We spent a lot of time looking at and appreciating art but even more time looking at an appreciating the building. They do have a few paintings from the impressionist and post impressionist movements but not many. So if what you are looking for is to enjoy a large collection of art historical content, this isn't your place. This place is more about considering one or two bodies of work deeply and critically. But again the building. I spent more time looking up, looking down, looking around than I thought I would. The Cafe is just as interesting to visit with fantastic views of Central Park... just gorgeous.

The unique design of the Guggenheim Museum also encourages a different way of experiencing art. Instead of traditional gallery rooms, the artwork is displayed along the curved walls of the spiral ramp, creating an immersive and interactive environment. This unconventional approach invites visitors to engage with the art from different angles and distances, fostering a deeper connection and appreciation for each piece. Frank Lloyd Wright's visionary design, with its spiral ramp and flowing spaces, provides an extraordinary backdrop for engaging with modern and contemporary art. As visitors navigate the museum's spiraling interior, they are enveloped in a truly unique artistic journey. Beyond the architectural marvel, the Guggenheim Museum's collection of modern and contemporary art is equally impressive. The museum's commitment to showcasing works by renowned artists, as well as emerging talents, is evident in the diverse range of pieces on display. From paintings and sculptures to installations and multimedia works, the collection provides a comprehensive overview of artistic expression. The Guggenheim Museum is a testament to the power of architecture to enhance the appreciation of art, making it a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and architecture lovers alike.

I was here in Nov 2022 for the Nick Cave exhibition which I absolutely loved. Definitely try to visit one of their exhibits if you get a chance! A wonderful celebration of queerness, using recycled materials, as well as some important pieces reflecting on race, and celebrating black power. The actual building is also a sight to behold, with a great location right next to central park. Despite it being a Saturday, there were still lots of quiet spaces to get lost in and enjoy the art.

Look at the architecture! It’s a masterpiece! Truly spectacular! Cost 30 bucks to get it which is steep. But if you are a big fan of architecture it’s worth it!!! Inside you will find unique modern arts!

An excellent resource. I saw an exhibit on early Picasso. Fascinating, because his early works were so stunning and different and removed from his later, more acclaimed items. The mixed-media exhibits on the upper floors need to be seen to be believed. Descriptions can't do them justice, and they are beyond hard to photograph. Recommended.

I visited for the first time and so much enjoyed with the Thannhauser Collection. They got almost the iconic pieces from the famous artists in impressionism period. You could understand the impressionism and artist’s signature within this visit. Compliment to sales staff in gift shop, her name is Daisy. She is generous and be able to explain me for some reason the exhbition, even it is permant collection, are rotated in every 6 months. So you might not be able to see every pieces since I asked her that some pieces that I saw in postcard in giftshop but I dont see it in exhibition. With her explaination also I bought the poster from Degas. Thank you Daisy!

Great museum, beautiful architecture! The art inside is accurate and interesting. This is not a “too much” museum, it’s just enough. Loved it! Better than the most famous ones.
