If I had to name this, "humble" is probably not a word that would spring to mind. Perhaps the Administrator might have been humble, but the garden is anything but. There is an explanation in the museum as to why there are so many nice (previously) private gardens in and around SuZhou. Think "keeping up with the Jones'". So maybe the Administrator wasn't all that humble after all, just like his garden! We went on an "off-peak" weekday, but it was still quite crowded. Nevertheless, we were able to enjoy the various "rooms" that the garden is divided up into without too much crowding. As it was spring time, there were quite a few flowers out. Overall, this was a very pleasant place to spend a half day. The only reason that I didn't give this five stars is that even though it was an off-season weekday when we visited, some of the paths were quite narrow and it was - at times - a bit difficult to squeeze past other park visitors. I personally probably wouldn't visit during a busy time - unless crowds are your thing.

There are multiple traditional Suzhou-style Chinese gardens in Suzhou, and 9 of these gardens have been inscribed in World Heritage list. The most famous and notable one is the Humble Administrator's Garden. It will take you about two to three hours to finish the walk throughout most of the places of interest. It's mandatory to make a reservation of your arrival time during a busy time like summer. It is recommended to join a tour guide service to further understand the background history and trivia behind this garden and the story of the founder. The complimentary tour guide service lasts for half an hour, guiding you through some of the most crucial buildings in the garden. You can understand more by requesting for a paid tour guide service. There are lots of photo opportunities in the garden, and you get to experience more when the history of these incredible buildings is revealed. The current price is RMB$70 in the off-peak season and RMB$80 in the peak season.

One of the best ancient gardens in China. Full of toursits from early morning till closing time. Take a slow walk around and make sure you find the bonsai garden in the end of park. You will find ancient statues and vases as well and houses in which noble lords used to live

Absolutely beautiful gardens! One of the best in China! You have to get the guide to take you around for the full experience, you have to hear all of the stories about why the buildings are in a certain area or why the bridge is not straight across the water etc. Some very interesting stories about the old days. Definitely worth a visit. Also the food in SuZhou is fantastic! I would certainly recommend these gardens and I would go again, also very cheap to get in.

The Humble Administrator's Garden (ζ‹™ζ”Ώεœ’) is the largest, finest and most beautiful garden in south China. This famous garden was built in Suzhou (θ˜‡ε·ž) in Ming Dynasty (明朝). The designer use spaces planning and incorporated both natural and man-made materials to present various but elegant views that visitor need to discover with mind. I strong recommend to hire a tour guide to lead you into this beautiful world and explain those astonish designs. It is better to put 3-4 hours in the itinerary to enjoy the garden. An important thing need to be mentioned: There are lots of cheaters selling the fake ticket in very cheap price. Don't be fraud. The true ticket is sold only in the official entrance.

After visiting 4 other Chinese gardens on this trip this was by far the largest. So many beautiful places to explore. So many different views to appreciate. Every garden tends to be very crowded but this one has enough space so you don't feel claustrophobic.

You must visit here if you have a chance in Suzhou, the most of scenes here are the same as Chinese traditional movie. Recommend!

The exemplary masterpiece among all Chinese gardens. Make this your #1 priority coming to Suzhou.

Huge traditional Chinese garden. Very crowded on weekends. Very little foreign travelers and also little information in English. I liked other Suzhou gardens more, but here it was very interesting to go with the crowd, explore not only the garden, but also see enthusiasm and vibe of local tourists. One guy near me was very disappointed that there were no golden fish in the pools.

I went to other gardens that only cost quarter of the price, it was pertty but it wasent as pretty as the other places and wasn't as informative as them. no history, no stories and not a lot of animals and wildlife. I would recommend going to Shanghai to see Yuyuan garden a much better experience.

This Garden from Suzhou is one of the 4 most representatives and famous landscape heritage spots from all China. It was created here a small piece of heaven on the earth. The water, the green and all the artefacts in this perimeter are genuinely disposed in an authentic compound. A huge effort to create a masterpiece. Highly recommended for tourists, wherever are they coming from!

2000 people in the garden on a hot day in July. No way to take a nice picture without crowds. It's a beautiful garden though. Imagine in the ancient time people got no phone no tv, they had leisure time in this garden feeding fish....enjoy the Kunqu, flowers blooming Every single house has the Feng Shui elements. Strongly recommend to have a local guide to guide you through the whole garden. Cannot purchase or make appointment online for visitors outside Mainland China. Walk in to the ticket kiosk with passport

Amazingly beautiful garden πŸ’š The view is so stunning. Wish I could stay longer to enjoy the view. However, the walking path is quite rough for elderly and wheelchair. Hope they provide more convenient pathway for people with wheelchair.

Awesome garden! I heard it was the one I would need to go to if I could only choose one and I did not regret it. The crowds couldn't be helped considering it's China and it's a UNESCO heritage site. Definitely go on a weekend. The museum and Pingjiang road are all pretty close by and there are some eats available too.

One of the famous Chinese Garden and must visit to learn about Chinese Landscaping. A must see for those studying landscape architecture. This is a private garden. Some time there are performance and during the moon cake festival it is open at night. Classical Chinese music, tea and mooncake is such an enjoyable occasion.
