It's worth visiting even just for the view from the highest observation deck in the world. The tower is gorgeous from a distance and even more so a ground level looking up. There is an introduction to the tower on the lower level after going through the admission area - don't rush it, there is a lot of information to appreciate and you'll be glad to learn some of it. The elevator ride to the observation deck is super fast. The observation deck is huge - it is a complete 360 degree view of the city with enormous, crystal clear windows and a fresh interior design. The kids were not scared at all looking out the windows from so high up, they were excited looking down on some of the other super-tall buildings nearby and trying to see people cars on the ground below. The view is incredible. On the way out there is a big gift store with some terrific souvenir items of both the Tower and Shanghai in general.

On entering there is a write up of all the recognized tall buildings around the world and a brilliant digital display that will keep you fixed on for a while. Being on top of the 2nd highest building in the world was thrilling and an experience. The views are breathtaking and spectacular. There is a gift shop on the observatory level. You can also have pics taken and placed in a back ground of your choice at a price. My son and I did the walk on the plank on top of the building looking down also at a price. An experience indeed . THE BIG DOWNER AND VERY MISLEADING thing is on Entrance you are led to take pics and told that it’s free and should be collected on the first floor. Yip we were looking forward to that cos gosh every tourist attraction charges for this. When we went to collect we received a minute pic with a green background and was told that we would have to pay for anything bigger with a background!!!!

The Shanghai Tower is a 128-story, megatall skyscraper in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai. It is the tallest building in China and the world's 3rd tallest building by height to architectural top. It is the tallest and largest LEED Platinum certified building in the world since 2015. It shares the record with the Ping An Finance Center of having the world's highest observation deck within a building or structure at 562 m. It had the world's second-fastest elevators at a top speed of 20.5 meters per second, that's to say 74 km per hour or 46 miles per hour, until 2017, when it was surpassed by the Guangzhou CTF Finance Center, with its top speed of 21 meters per second, 76 km/h or 47 mph. Designed by international design firm Gensler and owned by the Shanghai Municipal Government,it is the tallest of the world's first triple-adjacent supertall buildings in Pudong, the other two being the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center. Its tiered construction, designed for high energy efficiency, provides nine separate zones divided between office, retail and leisure use. Construction work on the tower began in November 2008 and topped out in August 2013. The exterior was completed in 2015, and work was considered complete in September 2014. Although the building was originally scheduled to open to the public in November 2014, the actual public-use date was shifted to February 2015. The observation deck was opened to visitors in July 2016; the period from July through September 2018 was termed a test run or commissioning period. Since 2017, the sightseeing deck on the 118th floor has been open to the public. The Shanghai Tower is owned by Yeti Construction and Development, a consortium of state-owned development companies which includes Shanghai Chengtou Corp., Shanghai Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone Development Co., and Shanghai Construction Group. Funding for the tower's construction was obtained from shareholders, bank loans, and Shanghai's municipal government. The tower had an estimated construction cost of US$2.4 billion. Such a wonderful project and landmark.

The highest tower of Shanghai! Looks very impressive from the bottom and going to the observatory desk, especially at night it’s really worth it compared to observatory of other big cities. The views from the top by night are really impressive!

Amazing view from the first floor that we can visit but so disappointed by the sculpture at the top of the building ! We thought that we could see the view from there so we bought the most expensive tickets. Then, we had to wait 30 min before being allowed to take the elevator to go back to the beautiful view ..

A mix of offices and shops. Very popular observatory tower but skip that and head to Level52 to the book store! Free of charge entry and a cafe available to grab a drink to admire the view! Its abit confusing to locate the lifts but walk towards the office side and look for the lift operating to level52 only. Right outside the building is the famous spot where all the hip people are trying to take photos of all 3 tall buildings in a single shot.

Good place to experience from both marvel of Engineeing and Architecture as well as the opportunity to get a bird’s eye view of the city. Visited the tower twice - you have the ability to get really high up in the sky and via the observation deck get a 360 degrees view of the city. The only issue is the last time we visited the windows were somehow dusty and the views were obstructed… nevertheless a impressive experience

Tallest tower in Shanghai. We took ticket for the highest floor which is 126 known as sky but it was only a laser show which was not worth the experience. Better go for only the 118 floor which has the best sunset and skyline views. Also the lift was pretty fast.

The Shanghai Tower, a stunning addition to the city's iconic skyline, stands as a testament to modern engineering and architectural innovation. Soaring majestically to a height of 632 meters, it is the tallest skyscraper in China and the second-tallest globally. The tower's sleek, twisting design not only catches the eye but also serves a purpose – reducing wind loads and enhancing structural stability. Ascending the tower reveals a world-class observatory on the 118th to 121st floors, providing unparalleled 360-degree views of Shanghai. The futuristic interior design, coupled with high-speed elevators, ensures a seamless and memorable experience for visitors. Beyond its striking appearance and tourist appeal, the Shanghai Tower is a model of sustainable architecture. From its double-layered glass facade for insulation to wind turbines generating renewable energy, the tower is a pioneer in eco-friendly building practices. This commitment to sustainability aligns with Shanghai's broader efforts to address environmental challenges. Functionally, the tower is a vertical city, housing offices, hotels, and retail spaces. Its adaptability and flexibility reflect the evolving nature of urban development, making it not just a landmark but a dynamic hub within the city. In conclusion, the Shanghai Tower is more than a skyscraper; it's a symbol of China's forward-thinking approach to urban development, blending architectural excellence, sustainability, and functionality in one awe-inspiring structure that defines Shanghai's progressive spirit.

The view from the 118th floor of the building was mind-blowing. We could walk around the building and have a 360 degree view on the whole ShangHai area with endless buildings and the whole HuangPu River. They had a high speed elevator that only takes around 1 min to reach the 118th floor from the ground. We could also have a picture with all three tall buildings on the ground floor.

Amazing skyscraper. There were a lot of people there, we waited around 1 hour 30 minutes to get in. We pre ordered tickets online. The Oriental Pearl, Shanghai World Financial Center, and Jim Mao are all visible from the tower. The elevator is very fast, it isn't dizzy but you will feel your ears popping. There are 3 elevators that go up and 1 that goes down.

If you are in Shanghai this would definitely be place to visit if you want an unbeatable 360-degree view of Shanghai, the city's skyline and the neighboring Huangpu river. The observation deck is on the 118th and 119th floor, and takes literally seconds to reach them in the lift (be mindful, your ears can pop!) There is a restaurant which is on the same floor offering Western & Chinese cuisine and serving soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. A really great experience and one which I'd recommend

268 rmd is much higher fees for visits. I think fees can be reduced to attract more tourists. It is my humble suggestion. Observation tickets can be a great option for those who want to go to some height. It was my heartfelt wish to go to the top but due to the price I was not able to go

Opened to the public in 2016, Shanghai Tower is one of the world’s most impressive architectural marvels. Rising above the city’s financial district, it represents a green future for China. A tower so tall you can only see the top on a clear day, the Shanghai Tower is known for its height, but that is only the beginning of the story. It has the world’s highest observation deck. Skyscraper fans and those who want an unbeatable view can’t do much better than the observation deck of the Shanghai Tower, located on the 121st floor. At 561.3 meters (1841.5 feet), the deck is the highest in the world, offering viewers a godlike perspective of Lujiazui and the Huangpu River.

The Shanghai Tower stands as an awe-inspiring testament to architectural innovation and urban design, serving as a beacon of Shanghai's modernity and ambition. This iconic skyscraper redefines what's possible in vertical architecture, offering an unparalleled experience that captivates both the eye and the imagination. Rising majestically above the city, the tower's twisting and tapering form is a visual spectacle that sets it apart from its contemporaries. The architectural brilliance lies not only in its unique shape but also in the cutting-edge sustainable features that have earned it LEED Platinum certification. The observation deck on the upper floors provides an unmatched panoramic view of Shanghai's sprawling cityscape, a testament to human achievement and urban dynamism. The feeling of being suspended in the sky, surrounded by the shimmering lights of the city, is an experience that leaves an indelible mark. Inside, the tower seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetics. Its innovative double-skin façade enhances energy efficiency, while the atriums and open spaces foster a sense of community amidst the towering heights. The tower's mixed-use concept, featuring offices, retail spaces, and even a luxury hotel, showcases a harmonious integration of different functions. The Shanghai Tower isn't just a marvel of engineering and design; it embodies Shanghai's status as a global economic powerhouse and a cultural melting pot. Its towering presence is a reminder of humanity's ability to shape the environment and redefine skylines. Whether viewed from afar or experienced up close, the Shanghai Tower is a symbol of aspiration, creativity, and the limitless possibilities of architectural ingenuity.

Very beautiful place, there was little to no line to get in on a Sunday afternoon. The observation deck is the highest in the world, so you will be even higher than the Burj Khalifa here. You can also see the engineering marvel that is the mass damper setup at the top. There's also a couple gift shops with some premium souvenirs. Wish I had picked up one. The only thing that will dampen the experience here is if you visit on a hazy day when the visibility is not that good. Try to go on a good day.

Even though this is the second highest building of the world, and I have been to the world’s highest in Dubai, the Shanghai Tower is so different. The views are mindblowing! Just next to you you have the Pearl tower, the ‘bottle opener’ which seem rather small when you are in the Shanghai Tower. The elevator is also considered as world’s fastest and you are just being catapulted to the top. The price is definitely worth it! Funny experience, they take a picture of you with a background at the ground floor saying you will get a free picture upstairs. The picture you get for free is just without a background, quite silly. With the background you need to buy at a high price.

If you want to see both Pudong and Hongqiao in Shanghai you should visit here! I visited during sunset and it’s spectacular though the crowds are insane too!!! You can barely take a nice photo of yourself with good background of Shanghai but when you do you can capture a nice picture and a memory of Shanghai! This place is one of the highlight when I traveled in China, it’s highly recommendable! 💕🤩

Absolutely huge building and goes above the clouds sometimes. The design is cool and it's looks like it is curlying around rather then going straight up. You can get a treat view from the bund. You can also go inside it to have a viee of Shanghai.

Pleasantly surprised. Pretty amazing view from the top. A bit pricey and the process to get a ticket is unnecessarily complicated but worthwhile to do it once. We went during a very slow day so there were not many people which, I would suspect made it much more enjoyable for me.

  • 5/5 Hope A. 4 months ago on Google
Incredible views when up on the viewing deck. It’s a little pricy for the admission tickets but I think it was worth it for the touristy experience.

  • 5/5 Nichakarn L. 1 year ago on Google
Shanghai Tower is the world’s second tallest building currently. The entrance fee is 180 yuan but some website offer online tickets at lower price. You have to buy it one day ahead though. The building elevator can’t get you to the entrance floor of the observatory so get to the first floor and walk to the front of the building in front of Starbucks Reserve and you’ll find the entrance. Before getting on the world’s fastest elevator, you’ll find an exhibition about tall buildings and how Shanghai Tower is built which is pretty interesting. Too bad we were unlucky it’s a cloudy day so the view is not so awesome but it is still breathtaking.
