What an incredibly charming place. We fell in love as we approached the place from outside. The interior outside and inside is just dreamy and perfect and with the hospitality of the owners, Dimitri and Sylvie it naturally has a "feel good" vibe for us. As we were travelling and not explored to the fullest the history of Greek wines, this wine bar certainly does the magic. Dimitri was very knowledgeable to share the specific bottles that he had in his place and the story behind them. Me and my bf were very impressed, so impressed we adjusted the rest of our trip so we can come back again.

I spent my last night in Athens at Wine Bar 33 and the experience I had there was unforgettable. Since I was the only customer this evening, Dimitri focused his attention onto me! The journey we took through the various wine regions and grape varieties in Greece, was simply mind blowing. And since I hadn’t had a proper meal since breakfast, Dimitri proposed to serve me a platter of cheeses and cold cuts from various little producers around Greece. This too was a great experience for the palate and matched the served wines perfectly. For wine lovers or simply for people who want to better understand the evolution that the Greek wine industry made over the past 10 years, I can only recommend to visit this little gem in Athens! Thanks again to Dimitri for this insightful and great evening 🙏🏻

While walking around the Pagrati area of Athens we happened upon a great wine bar. It's called the Wine Bar 33. Dimitri who is well versed in Greek wine culture as a sommelier helped us with great suggestions and pairings. He was personable, kind and friendly. You will truly enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and will not be disappointed. I will definitely be back to this jewel in Athens. Love from this Canadian 🇨🇦❤️

My husband and I went here during our honeymoon for a wine tasting and it exceeded our expectation! Dimitri was so knowledgeable about wine and took the time to explain/teach us all about each of the wines we tried. The entire experience was so great. We stayed for over 3 hours because we were enjoying are time there so much and we bought some wine to take home! HIGHLY RECOMMEND during your time in Athens!

What a great first night in Athens! After a long flight from Canada, Wine Bar 33 was the perfect choice. The atmosphere is relaxing and the hospitality is exceptional. You will not meet a more educated, humble and kind Sommelier than Mr. Dimitri. His passion to ensure that you have the best experience is obvious from the second you meet him. I highly recommend this special place to anyone and everyone especially if you are a Wine lover. Cheers!

Best wine tasting experience I've ever had! Dimitri is a gracious and knowledgeable sommelier, who is eager to share the wonders and mysteries of Greek vines and wine-making techniques. Did you know that wine can be made not only in oak or steel, but also stone? Or that some new vintners are exploring with saffron infused wines? I didn't! Not only that, but Dimitri really listened to what sort of flavors and type of wines I preferred, and adjusted the tasting accordingly. He would dart down to his cellar and come up with something incredible. At 20€ this is an unparalleled deal, in the heart of Athens.

Absolutely amazing wine experience! I met Dimitri and his friend Panayotis and they gave me a warm welcome and a complete course on Greek wines. It a great pleasure to talk to Dimitri, furthermore he is an excellent sommelier and he knows his wines! We should truly appreciate the fact he is ready to give his knowledge to laymen audience and he is committed to spreading the knowledge about the peculiar Green wines to the world. If you want to know more about Greek wine this is the place to be in Athens.

Exceptional wine tasting with Dimitris, the nicest sommelier I have come to meet: incredibly knowledgeable about the extensive variety of wines Greece offers, speaks both French and English, and the wines he selected were great and quite different from what we are used to. A absolute must if you have the slightest interest in wine!

This is hands down the best place to taste and learn about Greek wines. The owner is very helpful and will guide you through the whole process. We had a great time and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves wine. The only remark I would have is to add a couple more nibbles to the session :)

A truly delightful little gem, having lived in Kolonaki for nearly 3 years, I'm ashamed to have only just found this lovely wine bar. Dimitri who runs the bar is a super-friendly and highly knowledgeable gentleman. It's not your run-of-the-mill bar, if you want something different, an establishment that caters to your tastes and sourcing small batch wines from across Greece, if you want to try something new, something different, Wine Bar 33 is a must-visit bar. Throw in a cold-cut platter selection and you'll find you want to reach a different bottle of wine to compliment the rather amazing cuts. Will certainly be a regular here!

Wow! What a lovely experience. We simply wanted to try a couple of new good wines. We walked away a couple of hours later feeling like we had a new friend in owner Dimitri, who offered detailed passionate descriptions of the small batch vineyards that produced the wines he offered up. He had another table to attend to but always came back to chat more. He lived in France for years and his wife is from the Loire Valley. He knows not only Greek wines but wines from all over. We came for a garden variety wine bar visit and left feeling like we had an exceptional, memorable occasion.

On my recent trip to Greece I had the wonderful opportunity to join a wine tasting at Wine Bar 33 in Athens. The owner, Dimitri Spiropoulos, hosted the tasting and shared his extensive knowledge of Greek wines, along with a map to show us the different regions where the grapes were grown and wines produced. The wines were delicious and I learned an enormous amount - not only about Greek wines, but about Greek culture. Dimitri is passionate about wine and speaks perfect English. My wine tasting evening at Wine Bar 33 was a highlight of my trip. Thank you Dimitri!

The owner and sommelier established a place where we had by far the best wine tasting experience we ever had (having travelled to Tuscany and Napa). "Best" stems from the: - variety and quality of wines we tried - quality of food accompanying the tasting - insights on grapes, wine producers and horeca - time spent by the owner whom literally spent hours with us The key thing is that Dimitris decided to have as few tables as they would allow him to allocate the time needed for a proper wine tasting experience. At the same moment the price charged is very low even if the treatment you get as a client would substantiate double the price. All in all this is a hidden gem, which we sincerely hope to be able to visit regularly going forward as quite some wines are not available in the market.

Dimitri and his wife were amazing hosts to this experience. If you love wine and would like to learn more about Greece’s wines from their history, location, smell and palette notes then Wine Bar 33 is a must go. The mixed cheese and cold cuts board was amazing and I kept wanting more of the pear marmelede, a food orgasm.

Mister Dimitris and his lovely wife Silvie created us by far the the best wine tasting we’ve ever had globally ,including Tuscany ( he has already hit for the 2nd time). Full of knowledge about everything when it comes to varieties, methodology and origins. Most importantly, mister Dimitris has spent with us vast majority of the evening passionately talking about every aspect of it, which really feels as a personal touch rather than a classic flow of a wine tasting. Amazing, not obvious wines ,great plates as an accompaniment, but most importantly great atmosphere which makes you enthusiastic about about wines even if you are not into it. Can’t be more thankful!

This wine bar is amazing; definitely one of the highlights of our trip! We learned so much about Greek wines and grapes during our tasting! Dimitri is fantastic and very knowledgeable; it is obvious that this is his passion. He focuses mostly on small batch wines. Every one we tasted was delicious and the bottles are very reasonably priced. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Wine tasting with Dimitri was a highlight of our trip, so much so that we went back a second time before we left Athens. Dimitri knows Greek wine, he’s a phenomenal host, and he puts on a first class wine tasting experience. Our tasting occurred at his tables outside (in complete shade) and the setting could not have been more enjoyable. Do yourself a favor and spend a few hours with Dimitri tasting some of the best (yet very affordable) Greek wines out there.

I have had the pleasure of attending two wine tastings with Dimitri. He is very knowledgeable about the history and origins of Greek wine. He is also very accommodating to your preferences and personal knowledge of wine. The last time I went I had some friends who had tasted some of the wine he initially planned to show us, but upon the realization that we have already had it, he showed us something new! Dimitri is very warm and personable and it the experience does not get any better than this. I will definitely be back!

Dimitri! Thank you so much! what a great night! & what a great guy! there is no better wine expert in all of Athens! and no better host! My girlfriend & I had the best time! Dimitri brought out the best he had & taught us so much about each wine, everything from the origin as shown on the map to the tasting profiles & pairings. Truly a great experience & one of the highlights of our entire trip! We hope to come back & see you again one day!

We initially went to Wine Bar 33 as part of a food tour, and we sampled 5 amazing wines while Dimitri taught us all about the different grape varieties and regions of Greece where they are grown. We loved the red wine we sampled so much that we wanted to buy a bottle, and they didn’t have it available that night but Dimitri told us to return the next day and he would have it for us - which is exactly what we did! We were welcomed back like old friends and got to sample another fantastic wine. Highly recommend Wine Bar 33 if you want to learn a lot and drink delicious Greek wine in great company!

Dimitri was the perfect host, his knowledge of the wines and grapes of Greece (and the rest of the world) was exceptional. He made us feel welcome all evening and was incredibly passionate and attentive. Dimitri adapted the tasting sessions to out taste and spent time describing the reasons behind the flavourings of each wine. Should we find ourselves in Athens again, we will be returning to Wine Bar 33. Big thanks from Sam and Olivia.

A great little find near our hotel in Plaka. Hard to find via Google - the entrance is on the side street next to the location the map shows - this little wine bar does everything I wanted in Athens. The owner runs the place, and as expected has an enormous wealth of wine knowledge of the region to go with his immense enthusiasm and obvious joy. Focused on smaller producers, he guided us to a range of Xinomavro wines - funkier, drier, and more interesting than we could imagine - as we sampled white, rose and red wines made from the same grapes. The food plates were delightful as well. The tomato fritters were incredible, and easily the best of the several we tried in Greece. Various other treats were brought tableside to complement our many wines. If we had questions, he engaged us with commentary or ran downstairs to bring a bottle that illustrated his point for our edification. On top of all this, the whole list of carefully-chosen wines is so inexpensive! If you are at all interested in the world of Greek wines, this is a must-visit.

We walked in off the street because we wanted to try some Greek wine. We expected to show up, get a couple of glasses served and then be on our way. We were so wrong! We were welcomed by Dimitri who first gave us an introduction to the Greek wine production in the different areas of Greece and then he talked us through a series of absolutely amazing wines from small local wineries with some wines we'd never have thought even existed! He even told us about the local grapes and wineries in the parts of Greece we're planning to go to. The Wine Bar 33 is a relatively new place, but let me say, it's absolutely worth a visit. Whether or not you know anything about wine, Dimitri's hospitality and extensive knowledge makes this a place anybody should visit for a nice glass of wine. If we ever have the chance, we're definitely coming back!

We visited Athens for a short stop on our way to the islands. We received a recommendation to stop at Wine Bar 33 and we decided to go. We couldn’t have been happier. We paid for the wine tasting and in doing so we received a wonderful experience we won’t forget. We received a sit down wine tour of the finer wines of Greece. We had originally planned to sit and have a several glasses of wine and be on our way but instead we stayed for 3 hours learning all about, and trying, all the wines of the region. I can’t rave enough about Dimitri. He was not only very knowledgeable but unbelievably kind and enjoyable to talk to. I would recommend anyone who enjoys wine to stop by Wine Bar 33 and partake in the experience you will receive there. Thank you Dimitri.

I really liked this little place, I wish more people knew about this gem. The owner was very kind, he was very knowledgeable about not only Greek wines but also Turkish wines (which is where I’m from) I was the only customer and he offered me two wines with different origins and let me choose what I wanted to drink. It was an amazing experience, I recommend this place to everyone with different levels of knowledge about wine.

This spot is a blessing. A must go! Dimitri describes every wine incredibly accurately, professionally and in an accessible way. His collection is extremely varied and limited, he has full love and passion for the wines he brings. The service is loving, personal and generous. We came back again and again. Thank you!

Had such an amazing experience at a wine tasting organized by Demetris. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about Greek wine and passionate about local small producers. We tried 7 different wines (4 whites 3 reds) and he did a great job of giving the context of the different wines you’re tasting. He also provided some snacks to go with the wine and I would be negligent not to mention the amazing the salami with fig he served. We were one of the only groups there on a Thursday. Selfishly it was amazing because we got a lot do attention, but really this place should be packed every night! A must go if you’re coming to Athens and want to learn more about Greek wine. We’ve been other times just to have a glass or two and had equally awesome experience. Just so happy we went here!
