Excellent experience with my family - 2 adults, 3 children. Staff is very professional (even if not overly warm), place is very clean and in order, rooms are spacious and all. However, I would like to highly recommend... the food! The restaurant has a small menu, but it's PERFECTLY executed. The samousas are the best I had in Mozambique, and the overall quality of the food is really really outstanding!

We had wonderful one night stay at Kumba Lodge while handling some business in Tofo. It is a recently opened accommodation. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming, truly amazing dinners using locally sourced ingredients and some delicious coffee was readily available with a wonderful sea view. We would love to visit again and it will be our go to place next time. Also a very sleek and elegant style was apparent which was pleasing to see.

This place is pure paradise! From watching the whales from the terrace, having awesome coffee & new breakfast every day to a super friendly team working here and some of the best food in the area. It's quiet, cozy and the perfect spot to relax & go diving, snorkeling or any other activities. Steven really made this place into something special. It's been simply perfect and actually exceeded my expectations. Thanks once again for everything and until next time!

We were welcomed by friendly staff all round. The owner Steven introduced himself and checked in on us at breakfast every day. The menu is small, but the food and cocktails were scrumptious. Perfect example of quality over quantity. Breakfast is served with fresh side of vegetables every morning. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The views from the restaurant are breathtaking and we managed to spot a few whales from our dinner table. I can't wait to visit again

Excellent location, near to walk and a perfect distance from the village. Excellent food, we have all our meals at Kumba, so we try all the menu and it is wonderful! And the rooms, are very confortable, clean and well ventilated. The staff and owners are very present and nice. I really enjoy the open space. And totally recomended!

Simplicity and tranquility in a relaxed rural Mozambican beach setting. Absolute heaven and food for the soul. If you're into yoga/pilates or just quietly contemplating the endless movement of the ocean, Kumba Lodge is the place for you!

First the positive: - Good value for money - This place is beautiful to just relax, taking a stroll at the beach and also watch the sunset and sunrise - Friendly staff - Solid breakfast The Negative - Unfortunately we most probably had bed bugs in our room where we got bitten by during the night. I am saying most probably, as the owner had a different opinion but we are very much convinced as we’ve been traveling to many tropical places and had experience with bed bugs already. Nevertheless he was giving us another room for one night and cleaned our old room within a few hours. Out of good will, we were allowed to wash our clothes which most probably had been contaminated as well. - WiFi is only working close to the reception area. We had no WiFi in both rooms. - Only ventilators available but no AC (maybe due to environmental reasons??), therefore it can get quite hot in the rooms.

My stay at Kumba lodge was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I walked into the lodge. The friendly staff welcomed me with open arms. The lodge is BEAUTIFUL. The giant infinity pool is a great way to cool off in the African sun! They have a great lounge area and high-speed wifi (perfect for remote work!) I love that you can access the beach right from the lodge as well. It’s about a mile away from the main town of Tofo which is a great escape from the hustle and bustle. The rooms are gorgeous. They have ocean rooms or jungle palm tree rooms. You won’t regret either choice! The way the rooms are designed is rustic and modern. Beds are so comfortable and you can literally see the sunrise and sunset from the rooms! Such a great way to wake up in the morning. I have never felt so comfortable and relaxed on a trip. The food menu is delicious and unique. I loved everything I ate. Highly suggest trying to falafel bowl and Asian noodles as that was my favorite! But the entire menu is delicious Booking your stay in Tofo at Kumba lodge will be the best decision you can make! Additionally they offer a lot of great tours so you can get to see the rest of the area :)

Had the best experience! Amazing value for money. We are just driving off now after two nights at Kumba. Enjoyed the beautiful setting (the pool omg), amazing and delicious and generous breakfast, comfortable bed, clean rooms and very friendly staff. The morning yoga and pilates sessions were the cherry on top. 100% recommended, you won’t regret it.

We had a fantastic stay at Kumba. We stayed in a family room with a sea view with our 3 kids, the room was large and comfortable. The lodge feels brand new, very clean and modern. We loved the food in the restaurant, that had lots of veggie options, but also lots for the carnivores or those who want to enjoy Mozambican seafood. I was happy to be located slightly outside but within walking distance of the village. It means the place is quiet, but that we were able to go out for meals on a few occasions. We enjoyed the yoga, the beach and the activities offered by the hotel. The only comment I would make is that the barriers on the terrace or on the stairs to the beach might be a bit scary for those who have really little kids (1-3 years ago)

Excellent food which you cannot find in any other place in Tofo. Very healthy and schedule of yoga classes available. Great view from the pool on the ocean where you can see the humpback whales jump during the season.

My wife and I stayed 5 nights at Kumba Lodge and had a wonderful time. The place is beautifully located at the northern top of Praia do Tofo, a short and enjoyable walk (ca. 1,5km) along the beach into the main village. Outstanding was the service by the entire team (esp. the complimentary and healthy breakfast served each morning), the charming bungalows and the outdoor pool area with ocean views. Also, Steven’s regular yoga classes in the morning deserve special mentioning. They made for a perfect start into our daily routines and left us peaceful, calm and energized. Thank you!

This place is truly a version of paradise!!!! Steve and his team were very accommodating and helpful. The rooms are spacious and full of light and you wake up to the ocean breeze. It's also very safe, we left our doors open. The food is local and fresh. The beach is unspoilt and relatively private. I couldn't recommend this place anymore.

Amazing little slice of heaven. The lodges are right by the beach, and our room was facing the ocean. The breakfast was simple but great and the service from everyone was immaculate. Steve was an amazing host who checked on us everyday and helped to facilitate everything we wanted to do. The restaurant has great food, especially the prawns- they were to die for. 100% recommend and l would go back without a doubt

Kumba is definitely worth the visit. It is located towards the end of the bay which allows for decent privacy. The beach is wide, flat and clean. The ocean is warm and calm by African standards. The staff are warm and very helpful, the food is delicious and unique. The owners are inviting and a great source of information. Lastly, the chalets are awesome! Clean! Ours looked out onto the ocean and face East. There is a minimalistic feel to the lodge which is intended and lends to the safari experience. The infinity pool is also a wonderful addition. A great place to stay and a great place to meet other travelers from around the world.

We stayed at Kumba Lodge in Oct. Its the most homely place and you will love it. Its a short walk from Tofo and sits on a very clean and secluded beach. It is clean, rustic yet beautiful. The rooms are lovely too. The food is fabulous. Fresh, healthy and tasty. Freshly baked bread everyday too. The owners are amazing-they are so friendly, accommodating and they’ve got everything right! They live on the premise, mingle with their guests. Don't think twice just book it!

Amazing, beautiful and peaceful place. Steven and his team are top and helpful. Very kind personnel. We really felt at home. The yoga classes are top, no words to describe.

It’s just the perfect place to relax. The room was just amazing, the food in the restaurant delicious and healthy, and the seaview and the pool awesome. The healthy breakfast, amazing coffee and yoga lessons were just a highlight. Cant recommend more this place😍

Kumba is a new lodge, just a year old, opened by Steven and Adelline from South Africa. Steven is a yoga instructor, Adelline a chef. They have created a beautiful, spread out compound with clean white lodges, well separated. A central restaurant / bar / pool area overlooks the perfect sandy beach and includes a freshwater pool. A separate, purpose built yoga studio is just over a set of dunes. It is a stunning property. We spent 4 nights there in the family lodge overlooking the beach with our 10 month old infant. The owners and staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. They even helped us with a local experienced nanny, Innocentia, to look after the baby, the same lady who cares for their own children, and who was kindness and care personified. The food, courtesy of Adelline and her team, is frankly fantastic, as good as the best restaurants in Johannesburg. Yoga, guided by Steven, is on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings, and was pitched exactly right - relaxing and good humoured. Boat trips, surfing trips, scuba - all the usual things you'd expect to find in Tofo - are just a short walk away. Go visit! You will not regret it!

My partner and I spent a few days here and we had a great time. New lodge with all the necessary amenities, well located and you don’t need a big car to get there. The staff was very friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. Don’t get me started on the tasty food. 👌🏽 Can’t wait to visit again.

I love Kumba, it's elegant & comfortable. The staff are friendly and always willing to help. I like that it's right on the beach and walking distance to the market. My favorite though is the sea facing yoga deck. Exquisite. A must visit in Tofo.

Really all wonderful. The unique location, sea view and humpback whale view above all. the hotel is right on the beach but in an elevated position, so it is impossible not to be blown away by the wonderful view of the ocean. Elegant but at the same time welcoming and familiar environment. Staff both in the dining room and in the kitchen are kind, always helpful and polite. Outstanding food. Owner almost always present in the structure, always smiling and attentive to the customer without ever being intrusive. There was a relaxed atmosphere between them too. The kitchen of the restaurant is beautiful. A part of my heart has remained with Tofo also thanks to all of them.
