I showed up around noon with acute pain near my appendix. The ER staff was extremely nice and took well care of me. Within a couple of hours I was able to get CT scans confirming that I had appendicitis, and by the night I went through surgery to remove my appendix. Throughout the whole process, all the nurses, doctors, and surgeons kept me informed and took really good care of me. They also called my wife several times to keep her up to date with my status. After the surgery, they decided to keep me overnight since it was snowing a lot outside. Throughout the night, the nurses monitored me, applied any medication that I needed, and offered food and drinks. In the morning, the cafeteria stuff took my order (from a very extensive and delicious menu), and promptly brought it to my room so that I could have breakfast before getting discharged. This was my first serious visit to the ER and and my first time getting surgery. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I was a bit afraid after reading the reviews here, but my PCP suggested this ER, so I trusted her. I am extremely happy I came here for my ER visit and for my surgery. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that my stay was as smooth and efficient as possible, while making me feel comfortable and up-to-date with the surgery process and my health status. If I happen to be in this area next time I have an emergency, I won’t hesitate at all to come back. I hope that this review helps anyone trying to make a decision on whether to come to this ER. I am extremely satisfied with the service and care they provided.

The staff was very helpful throughout the day. We did wind up spending the whole day waiting for authorization to get into rehab. Cafeteria was nice and clean.

I received fabulous care. Both doctors really put time and thought into diagnosing me. The nurses were all very kind and helpful. I didn't enjoy why i was there, but i did have a great experience!

I am writing for myself. I refused Treatment because I could not explain my situation to the ER Doctor after several attempts. I had an Endo/Colon and my Pelvic Floor Dropped. After he told me that he did not understand for the 10th time, I told your staff that I was refusing Treatment and left. I said that I would speak to my Doctor instead. I paid the $500.00 Copay but why do I have a bill for almost $3000.00 After I refused Treatment and my husband carried me outside? I did not give you my blood or urine or x-rays so how and why are you charging my Insurance Company After I said I would rather go anywhere but there and left. AND THE WAY THAT YOU TREAT THE HOMELESS IS HORRIBLE, NO COMPASSION. I left without even being admitted so why am I being charged, the DOCTOR said if I didn't want to be treated I could leave and see my own Doctor. My husband carried me out, I could not walk, my husband carried me. Stay away they will charge you with bogus claims you did absolutely nothing! You should have more compassion for people.

I had to take my mom this evening for stomach pains. I have Nothing but praise for the way she was attended to. From check in to check out they were polite, professional and kind. Thank you to all staff members

Had to come to ER and experience was as excellent as such a visit can be. Dr Dymond was caring, attentive and professional. She explained what she was going to do to make sure I understood. She and the others checked in to make sure I was doing alright frequently during the needed procedure. Emergency procedure was done promptly to resolve the immediate crisis. Stephanie the nurse was kind and attentive, everything you could want in a nurse. My only small complaint is following the prompt emergency procedure follow up medications took a fair while to come. Could be I was just getting impatient being there but did seem to take a while. They weren't emergency needs so it wasn't a big deal though considering how they prioritized the emergency procedure needed.

Great experience for being an emergency room! I had an issue with filling a RX after one of my pharmacies closed and Brandy went above and beyond to get this fixed over the phone at 730pm.. That girl was a Rockstar and I truly appreciate the individual care I received.

I had an excellent experience here at St Joseph's ER department. All the staff from triage nurses to ultrasound tech to Dr's were so kind, helpful and empowered me to make informed decisions about my own treatment and provided recommendations and support when I was overwhelmed by pain and lack of sleep. Only reason it isn't 5 stars is because it took over 1.5 hrs and three requests for me to finally get some pain meds when my pain increased. I had previously turned down an offer of pain meds so it probably wasn't on their radar.

Absolutely incredible staff here. I went for a dog bite to the face and needed stitches, they got me in instantly and treated me so kindly. They could tell this was traumatic for me and remained calm and supported me. My physician (Brett Burbridge) who did the stitches was PHENOMENAL!! He asked if other staff could shadow, I said yes, and he walked them through each and every step. It comforted me to have someone so knowledgeable and experienced to be doing stitches on my face right next to my eye. I genuinely could not have asked for a better team of people supporting me while I was in shock and hurting. I always recommend St Joes, especially with my experience bringing clients experiencing houselessness (as a social worker) and them receiving quality care. These people care and will support you through and through. Thank you for caring for me in such a difficult time. I couldn’t be more grateful!

I came in for facial stitches after falling off a scooter. The initial visit was great. The doctor I saw, Chris North did a wonderful job on my stitches. Chris request I come back to the ER to get them removed by someone on his team because of how intricate they were. I was told this follow up visit would be covered/included by payment for the first visit. When I came back 5 days later for the stitch removal it was an awful experience. First, my nurse Molly Goloback took 2 hours to remove my stitches AND she missed 2 stitches during the process. I had to come back to the ER 2 days later for another nurse to remove the stitches she missed and failed to remove. I received a bill for this second visit (which was more than my initial visit) because they coded the visit as a new emergency when it was a follow up that was requested by the doctor. I have called the hospital over 5 times and explained the situation. Each time they transfer me to multiple departments and claim it has to handled by billing, while billing says the doctor or nurse has to recode the facility charge. I had the bill reviewed and it was denied. It seems that no one at the hospital knows how to fix it or cares. They are taking advantage of the situation and over charging. It is not fair and I will never come back to this hospital.

Don't bother. Wrecked myself on a pothole that threw me out of my wheelchair, so I came in level 10+ pain. Completely ignored my symptoms. Rude and inconsiderate doctor doesn'tlisten to patient at all. Have chronic conditions go elsewhere. Dr. here doesn't care.

The nurses and doctors here are amazing, they took great care of my mother, father and i and 3 different occasions. This most recent one with my mother left a bit of a mark on me as she passed out in the hospital hallway, i called for help and within seconds had a team of nurses and doctors help my mother. God bless you guys for everything you do.

Not transparent with billing. I dislocated my shoulder and they put it back in (thank you to the team who helped me out!), however, afterwards the billing issues started. The ER charged $2,354.63 for "Hc Fracture/dislocation Care Complex". When I looked up their lists of charges on their website, I noticed they also had charge code for "Hc Fracture/dislocation Care Simple" which costs $543.38. I paid the bill but when I tried to reach out for more information i.e. What is the difference between "complex" and "simple" they couldn't tell me. I was told "that's just what the physicians coded charge." And basically told me I was SOL. It's an $1800 difference in the dislocation care between simple and complex. I didn't have to have any morphine or any procedure - they popped my arm back in the socket in a minute. I'll also note, my issue is only for the $2,354.63 charge for the dislocation care. Not the $2500 for the emergency room visit, not the $500 for the x-rays...even though those prices are also outrageous. Docs get 5 stars for fixing my arm. But the rest of this price gouging and lack of transparency is ridiculous.

Very grateful for modern medicine and the practitioners. Every profession has some glitches but I had amazing care by other humans. Thumbs-up
