Changed my rating from 4 to 2 because the service is nonexistent. You have to go to the bar to order drinks. Plus, they advertise them as being THE place to watch Avalanche games in Sunnyside but EVERY TIME there's a game on, they have open mic night with upstart comedians or rap artists so you can't enjoy the game. Their TVs outside are all damaged and hard to see and because the comedians or rappers are so loud, you can't hear the game. Comedians get their timing off because hockey fans are louder than their audience is. Don't know how they claim to have the "best burger", either. It's mediocre and overpriced. I used to go there for every Avalanche game, but not anymore. Oh, what a laughable response i just got from the owner. Too funny. Excuses about being understaffed and insults. Really? Pathetic and sad. Get more staff and quit whining when a patron gives an honest review. You USED to be good, not anymore; mediocre and understaffed. I'll happily take my business and money elsewhere buddy. Thanks for the mature response from the owner. Laughable and immature.

I was recommended to come try the burgers, and the Philly cheesesteak. I was not disappointed!!! The cheesesteak slaps!!! The melon margarita is great also. Jimmy and his wife were super friendly. The place is clean and just plain cool !! I will be back with friends and family or anyone looking to get great food and drinks. Cheers !!

So I had food today the total is 23.71 and the server asked me for 25 ! And the restaurant owners said they don’t give peoples charge. Who told you that you can do that? Just wondering how much money you have been stealing from your neighbors and Seems you Allow your servers take advantage of your customers worst place ever!!!! And You have a thief working for you that you think that’s ok ! And you should thanks me for letting everyone know that!

Full of pop-culture references, vintage video games and Beastie Boys artwork and music, Monkey Barrel is a fun place to spend a few hours! All of the bartenders were fast, friendly, and efficient. The food is also very reasonably priced, though not gourmet. I ordered the $5 "Mikey D" burger which was good, though I could have done without their hamburger "special sauce." Also, their beer selection is not as good as I had hoped, but it is adequate. Other than that, I will definitely go back!

A massive patio that is dog friendly, an very well chosen list of draft beers, booths with N64, lots of TVs to watch your favorite game, super fun ambiance and very friendly staff. Love that it both a chill spot as well as lively in the evenings and host numerous events. Definitely a hidden gem in Denver!!

Great watering hole when the youth horde isn't there for (too often) an indie or other usually lame band. It's like a high school cafeteria & I learned to avoid it like the plague! When it's Live Music free it's def my fav spot due to the ever rotating pinball games & Super Nintendo consoles in the booths!

I really love going into this place great food atmosphere is great, but some of the staff beyond rude. Bartender with medium dirty blonde hair, young girl is so rude. Not very friendly, attitude is disrespectful. Walked in what do you want! And then is talking about customers across the bar. I believe that should be kept between the bartenders not for other customers to hear. And then just rolls her eyes at everything and everyone. Other staff is so bad .

Definitely a summer/spring bat type. Loved the vibe inside and all the games and pinball machines. To grab a table though so you can order food was pretty hard to find when we went. We managed to after standing and drinking for a little bit. For two people to get a drinks, app, plus two burgers was 35 bucks . Not bad tbh. The burgers are thin so definitely like a light dinner or typical lunch depending. It was decent nothing crazy. You get chips for free on the side or fries for 2 dollars more. The drinks are really good mixes and not crazy expensive like in downtown. The music was super loud we had to shout at each other to hear that nice. When we went had live music which might be why it was that way plus small because had to keep everything closed since winter. Hence why would be great place to go in the summer or spring just not so much in the winter. Will be back though later on because still a good spot!

Super great service! Those ladies killed it for friendliness, efficiency, all the things. They hammered out a super packed night even though we heard it was unusally busy. This was our first reference, but the overall vibe is a chill but slightly rock, music centric decor, with good food and decent choice of beers. We'd definitely return / recommend!!

I am so lucky to have a great pub like The Monkey Barrel in my neighborhood. Always a fun spot with night themes and stand up comedy on Thursdays!

Such a fun local spot. It’s never too busy but always people there and often nights like bingo or comedy. The burger is excellent (get the double if you’re hungry)! Insane deal for $7. We come here all the time, staff is casual and friendly, and beer selection is great.

Chantell was so friendly and knowledgeable! She was amazing and greeted me right away even while interacting with and serving multiple guests. She is so amazing with her ability to multitask and still make everyone feel like they have her full attention.

On a weekday afternoon we had to check this place out for their boast: "Best Burger..." Bar food, basically. Edible but nothing to return for. I give them props for atmosphere. Cool pinball set up, video games at the booths and staging area for live acts. Could be a fun place for millenials.

The food is great. Burgers and patty melt were amazing. The chairs could be a bit more comfortable, but it's a bar. The real reason for the 3 stars is the trivia. We had done trivia here years ago and the format has since changed. We came to do Friends trivia and it is all done thru a cellphone. So, there is no way to know if teams are cheating because phones are being used and out on the table. We do weekly trivia where phones are not allowed and we have to write our answers and turn them in. The excitement of getting it right is gone with this format. We might as well just do it from our house. Instead we paid $15 each just to play. If we lived closer, we would be back for food and beer, but trivia won't be bringing us back.

Great bar, immaculate vibes. The bartenders here are fantastic at their jobs and give the proper respect to each and every customer. (Especially Maya & Raquel). Best burger in the Sunnyside area and it’s not even up for debate!

Solid 5 stars for Monkey Barrel. What a cool spot. Don’t come here expecting much. By the looks of it The Monkey Barrel is divey. The Burgers and Nashville Hot chicken sandwich are really delicious. The beer selection looked decent and the cocktail are great. Service was on point for a super busy Friday night. Bonus on the Pinball machines. Highly recommend if your in the neighborhood or if you want to catch some live music. The staff was super friendly and professionals at what they do.

Wife and I got all dolled up to come here to see a band. Friends of hers. We wait in line to get seated. 10 minutes later, we are told we are to go find a table on our own, note which table we are at, and return to the line to order. Lovely. We enter the scrum to obtain a table. Lose the first one to another group. Darn. Got the second one, but had to race others to it. What a way to save the problem of having to seat people! Sat down, figured out what we were ordering, and off I went back to the 10 minute line. Upon getting to the front, the SAME bartender who gave me the instructions on how to order tells me, "we are no longer taking food orders, so sorry". You couldn't have told me this when you saw me 10 minutes ago? Like, really? Well, I guess good service isn't necessary when you can have beer taps flowing and you're in the center of one of Denver's many yuppihoods. But zomg did I tell you they have N64's? And pinball? 🙄

We have seen multiple live shows here, great food, reasonably prices drinks, and a great location with plenty of street parking. I hate going downtown for concerts where there is zero parking or only pay parking. This place is great!

A classic neighborhood dive. The food menu is small but I’ve never had something i didn’t like and they have good specials. You can’t beat $6 for a good burger and their reasonable drink prices. My favorites are the cheese burger and the boneless wings. The staff is always super friendly and nice. This is our favorite local watering hole

Friendly staff, amazing food! Always a joy to visit and get one of the best burgers in town. They also host an open mic Thursday nights at 7:30 and sometimes have sponsors giving out free samples and merch! Lots to enjoy, definitely worth checking out!

Come for the burger, stay for the comedy! I love doing stand up comedy at Monkey Barrel every Thursday with Pallet City Comedy. The bartenders are attentive and quick. The burgers are delicious, beverage selection on point and big laughs every week from Denver’s best comedians! Thank you Monkey Barrel!

We had a lot of fun. It was our 50th class reunion meet and greet. We ordered our food and drinks inside at the bar, then servers brought out food. We had the patio to ourselves and had about 70 people on hand. Servers were very nice and treated us well. Thanks Monkey Barrel🙂
