This was one of the most impressive and over powering place you visit. I was just immersed in it and literally forgot to take many pictures. So many years later still it looks like it’s an over powering place and a place to respect. Read the history and you will know why this one place is so important you will truly appreciate it. I was there for over an hour and still wants to return and pay my respects. If you are Istanbul you must visit and experience what I have. You will love it.

This place is full of history that can inspire you to be a better human being.. Also, you can find local guides around, free of charge. They are hired by the government and can help you with your curiosity.. Enjoy your time!

Note this is considered a pilgrimage site as many, so be respectable in terms of photo taking. Mosque was very crowded and there were a line up of stalls selling food and religious items leading up to it. Although the architectural beauty was limited it was beautiful mashallah. Fountains outside with plenty of seating area make it an ideal place to sit and relax. Inside the mosque it was busy too, some people may disregard you as you are trying to pray. There were 2 entrances for women.

The Eyüp Sultan Mosque (Turkish: Eyüp Sultan Camii) is a mosque situated in the Eyüp district of Istanbul, outside the city walls near the Golden Horn. The present building dates from the beginning of the 19th century. The mosque complex includes a mausoleum marking the spot where Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, the standard-bearer and friend of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, is said to have been buried.

Without a doubt this shrine is mesmerizing. The peace you feel is incredible and the beauty of the ornament is nothing like it. The sound of fountain when you pray and the smell of ouf in the shrine is mind blowing. I would definitely advice anyone to go there and see or for themselves. The beauty of Islam … #unitywithindiversity

This bazaar was just 5 minutes walk from the Beyaz Saray hotel. There are approximately 5000 stores in this bazaar with about 9 or more different gates (Maybe more not too sure how many)to enter from which means one can enter this giant of a shopping complex from all directions. All stores have similar merchandise and prices vary from store to store. The store keepers will lure you into their store and will always tell you that you are their first customer and will slash prices so you buy from them.Sales gimic. Suggest you shop around and buy when you know what you want and how much you are willing to pay. They are very curtious and polite even if you don't buy from them but seeing their kindness we did support some of them who went out of their way to please us. Loved this shopping experience in the grand bazaar..will go there again and again..so much to see that one day is not enough.

This mosque is a true masterpiece of Islamic architecture and a landmark that showcases the rich history and cultural heritage of Turkey. The mosque is truly stunning, with its towering minarets and intricate geometric patterns. You will be awestruck by the grandeur of the structure and the incredible attention to detail in its design. Inside, the mosque is just as impressive, with stunning stained glass windows and beautiful calligraphy adorning the walls. The atmosphere inside the mosque is both peaceful and uplifting. The location of the mosque is also noteworthy, as it is situated in the historic district of Eyup, which is considered a very important place in Islamic history. Eyup was the first Muslim settlement in Istanbul and the location of the tomb of Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad. I highly recommend a visit to Eyup sultan mosque

It's a nice place to visit. The best thing about Istanbul is, you don't need to buy the pass for the lift. You can use your Istanbul card like you ll use it on buses and train. It's cheap to go up there, there are some restaurants and views only. You can go for food up there and some nice pictures.

I recently visited the Eyup Sultan Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, and it was an amazing experience. The mosque is beautiful, with its intricate designs and colorful tiles. The structure is immense, and the atmosphere inside is serene and peaceful. The grounds of the mosque are also very impressive, with a large garden and several fountains. The tour guide provided a great insight into the history of the mosque. I also appreciated the fact that the mosque is open to everyone regardless of faith. Overall, I highly recommend this mosque to anyone visiting Istanbul – it is a great place to appreciate the beauty of Islamic architecture.

The mosque complex stands exactly at the sport where Ayyub Al Ansaris. He was a friends and companion of Prophet Muhammad and a highly respected member of the early Islamic leadership. According to a legend, he fell in front of the walls of constantinopel during the first unsuccessful siege of the city by muslim and his body was found shortly alternatif the Ottoman conquest. Also the Byzantine residents of the city are said to have honored his tomb as a place of worship. Fatih Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror built Eyup a fitting, grand tomb and a mosque in with Ottoman princes were girded with the sword of Osman on their coronation ceremony. It simbolized their power and their powerful sultan title. The Ablution fountain in the courtyard was built by the Grand Vizier Ibrahim Pasa. Since the two minarets were not high enough to attach tradisional ilumination to Ramadan, Sultan Ahmad ll had the demolished in 1723 built joget ones. In 1766, the Eyup Sultan Mosque was destroyed by a severe earthquake. In order to build a new mosque, sultan Selim lll completely demolished it except for the minarets in 1798. In 1800 the new mosque was opened. Chat architect was Uzun Husein Aga

This area in general is a very beautiful, historic and peaceful place to visit. It is indeed one of my favourite place to visit, everything is cheap. People are so kind in this area. One of the other wonderful advantages in this area is a the teleferic, and then the cafe shop on the top of the mountain. We had a very lovely day there, we enjoyed every minute of it. Yes, of course, I do recommend this lovely and historic area to everyone.

The mosque of Abu Ayup Al Ansari radia Allah Anhu. His tomb is there. You can consider it as the most spiritual place in city centre. The smell is amazing and it’s just like the smell of the holy Kaaba. It is so clean and calm especially at night. (Ishaa Prayers) once you sit inside you do not want to leave. Will go back there again and again.

We wanted to visit this place as we want to ziyarah (pay our respect) to the prophets companion Ayup Ansari (Ra). He was one of the companion to our beloved prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Do read up the history before paying ur visit there! We went on Jumm'ah and the place was filled with ladies and men's. Surprisingly ladies were sitting on the steps along the entrance until the kutbah (Friday sermon) was finishing. The outside of this masjid is filled with olden day 🪦 tombstones and shops..

What a stunning mosque. If you plan on praying jummah there, make sure you get there early. Inside the mosque space is limited and fills up quickly. If it is raining, ensure you get there early to get a spot to pray covered from the elements.

The Eyüp Sultan Mosque, located on the tip of the Golden Horn, is not only a house of worship but a sacred place in Islamic revelation. The tomb of Eyyub El-Ensari, who served as a sanjak in Mohammed’s army, is found in its courtyard. The mosque and tomb were constructed by Mehmed the Conqueror in 1459. The first mosque was damaged by an earthquake and the mosque standing today was constructed in 1800. The tomb, covered with external titles, is open to visitors on special days. People with difficulties or special requests, pilgrims and supplicants or those about to be married often visit the tomb to pray.

Lovely Mosque and area. A bit different than other Mosques in Istanbul. There is a big tree in the internal yard that people seem to believe is holy for some reason. Here is a mosque and the grave of our master Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari, in which you feel the awe of the place and the greatness of the Companions who sought to spread the religion of God .... a place that reminds you of the beautiful past ... there is a mosque which is beautiful in structure and decorations, and next to it is the shrine and you must arrive early to visit it so that you do not stand in line for about an hour Outside there is a beautiful garden and many shops at relatively tourist prices .... For the visitors, most of them are offered to visit the soil (the mausoleum) for blessings so that you are not surprised if you visit the place

Abu Ayyub al-Ansari[1] (Arabic: أبو أيوب الأنصاري‎, Turkish: Ebu Eyyûb el-Ensarî, died c. 674)[2] — born Khalid bin Zayd bin Kulayb bin Thaalba in Yathrib — hailed from the tribe of Banu Najjar, was a close companion (Arabic: الصحابه, sahaba) and the standard-bearer of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Abu Ayyub was one of the Ansar (Arabic: الأنصار, meaning aiders, helpers or patrons) of the early Islamic history, those who supported Muhammad after the hijra (migration) to Medina in 622. The patronym Abu Ayyub, means father (abu) of Ayyub. Abu Ayyub died of illness during the First Arab Siege of Constantinople.

This was the first masjid build in modern Turkey... He was the first Sahaba who hosted Prophet Mohammed SAW in Medinah on his arrival. You can find Hazrat Abu Ayub al Ansari Tomb here, along with Prophet Mohammed SAW beard hair as well.

This mosque holes, a lot of history, and the idea that a SAHABI is buried there is just amazing. The tomb of Abu Ayyoub is outside of the mosque, and inside the mosque there is this place where people can make ablution and wash their hands. There is also a place for Ladies to make their ablution, but it is outside of the mosque, but it is very close. Inside where the tomb is, there are also the hair of the prophet peace be upon him There is also a big tree where under there is a spring that gives water

I feel like i am in the masjid in mecca. So many people are visiting this place. The mosque is very big and clean. Unfortunately, the WC is very far from the masjid. Maybe it is on renovation. If you are the first timer come here you will find it so difficult to find it.

Companion of the prophet Muhammad SAWW lies here. Nothing else matters. But for information the masjid is beautiful with delicate design and refined work screaming quality. The tomb of Hazrat Abu Ayub Ansari RA is beautiful and clean. There are some holy relics put there as well. If you're in Istanbul you've to go there for sure. Definitely a no brainer.

Visiting the Blue Mosque was pleasant on the eye but the heart felt nothing, on arrival at this place the heart sparked into life. Such spaces are energy centers and you should feel then on visiting, this place is of blessing and you could feel it even on approach. A companion is buried here and they have a plaque claiming to be of the Prophet's. The Prophet's ﷺ shoe print, as well as beautiful mosque and courtyard with two trees seen in a dream that signified where the companions final resting place was. A wonderful place to visit.

Eyup Sultan Mosque and Tomb offer a deeply moving and spiritual experience. The mosque's stunning architecture and serene atmosphere, combined with the historical significance of the tomb, create a profound encounter that leaves a lasting impression. A must-visit for those seeking a meaningful connection with Istanbul's Islamic heritage.

I visited during a Friday prayer and it was amazing. Since this mosque is located in a less touristy area than Ayasofya or blue mosque, prices for food are a lot cheaper, people are friendlier and everything feels calm and relaxed. It isn't as easily accessible via public transport as Ayasofya, but realtively easy to get to. Historically speaking it is an interesting place, as it includes a mausoleum for Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, who was a companion of prophet Mohammed - sall Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam

Eyüp Sultan Mosque is an excellent complex which provides homely environment. It has beautiful and historical Masjid. Abu Eyüb Ansari رضی اللہ عنہ tomb is also adjusting to this Masjid. This is family place which has playing area, fountains, shopping place and variety of restaurants and caffees. It has limited parking place. It is a time spending place.

Not only is Eyüb Sultan Mosque an architectural marvel, but it is also profoundly significant for Muslims. Considered the final resting place of Eyüb al-Ansari, a close companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
