This park is park/garden is beautiful. I’m really glad we stumbled across this whole walking around the area. There were not a lot of people here so it was quite and relaxing. Great place to have a pic nic (if they allow) or just sit on a nice sunny day. It’s a bit of a hike up from the city but you can also take the gondola up and get pretty close.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful gardens in a quiet and pleasant enclave. The Palauet Albéniz and the entire environment are perfectly preserved and here you can enjoy a moment of peace among fountains, flowers and birds. I wish they were open every day, but unfortunately they can only be visited on weekends and holidays. Probably my favourite gardens in Montjuic and Barcelona. The site is well-maintained and isolated from the busy city. You will find plenty of quiet spots to relax under the shades of the trees or in the sun lulled by the sounds of the waterfalls and the birds. I really recommend this place to chill out.

(Translated by Google) Thanks to digital timeout magazine, I discovered these well-kept gardens right in front of the Olympic Stadium. You will find fountains, trees, plants, flowers, statues, a beautiful open-air theater surrounded by columns and a small mansion, where I could not enter but it is clear that they were the gardens of the same, in a place so close to the city which is now already within it. In summer cool areas to cool off and in winter a quiet park full of colors. Enjoy. Ah. Dogs cannot enter and cannot ride a bicycle. (Original) Gracies a la revista digital timeout, he descobert aquests jardins tant cuidats just davant de l'estadi olímpic. Disfruteu. Ah. No hi poden entrar gossos i no s'hi pot passejar montat en la bicicleta.

The meticulously landscaped gardens boast a variety of flora, from vibrant flowers to lush greenery, creating a picturesque setting for relaxation and contemplation. The design, attributed to Jean-Claude Forestier, seamlessly integrates with the neoclassical aesthetics of Palauet Albéniz, enhancing the overall visual appeal. Accessibility is convenient, and the well-maintained paths make strolling through the gardens a delightful experience. The inclusion of sculptures and architectural elements further enriches the cultural significance of this urban oasis.

(Translated by Google) The current Joan Maragall Gardens have their origins in those that were designed by Jean Claude Nicolas Forestier around the Royal Pavilion that was built inside the premises of the 1929 International Exhibition. [1] The Palace of the Missions was also built in this place. This palace, which during the Exhibition of the 29th had served to host the representation of Spanish religious missions around the world, would change radically in the following years. During the Civil War both the Mission Palace and the Palace of Communications became temporary prisons for refugees and political prisoners. After the entry of Franco's troops in Barcelona, it was used as a concentration camp for the defeated. The detainees were interrogated and then taken, often on foot and tied with a rope, to the Model prison (men) or the Corts prison (women), or to the Cànem concentration camps (Poblenou), in the Vall d'Hebron or the Palau de Missions in Montjuïc. There they remained until the Council of War sent them to the Camp de la Bota (to shoot them), to the workers' battalion or to the penitentiary. On the occasion of the XXXV International Eucharistic Congress of 1952, Barcelona City Council had to find a place to house the pontifical retinue that would visit the city, and the Albéniz pavilion was considered. On the other hand, the neighboring Palau de Missions was entrusted with another use. The celebration of the International Congress increased the arrival of immigrants in Barcelona, who were fleeing the famine of a long postwar period. The civil governor, Felipe Acedo Colunga, gave the order that all the people who arrived at the city and could not accredit means nor justify a stable address were put at the disposal of the authority (Law of vagabonds and malefactors). Thus, since 1953, the Palau de les Missions in Montjuïc has been set up as a detention center for immigrants. There, far from the city and its inhabitants, they had to wait to be returned to their places of origin. It is estimated that between 1952 and 1957 there were about 15,000 deportees. It was not until April 1957 that Josep Maria Porcioles, the newly appointed mayor of Barcelona, announced his idea of turning the Albéniz pavilion into a residence for illustrious guests in the city. In 1961, expansion and improvement works began, sometimes very controversial, which lasted for 5 years. In 1969, a fresco painted by Salvador Dalí was placed in the central dome of the entrance hall. Outside, to give more category to the back entrance of the Palauet Albéniz, the architects Ignasi Serra i Goday and Ros de Ramis, asked to install two lions that were in the Palau de Pedralbes. A year later the gardens were expanded with the current design, the work of landscape architect Carles Casamor, and finally, on June 23, 1970 the new Palauet Albéniz was inaugurated with the presence of the caudillo, Francisco Franco, and representatives of the Spanish government. The gardens were renamed Joan Maragall, in honor of the Catalan poet. It started from the old gardens of the Albéniz Palace, but was extended up to 3 times the initial site by also occupying the spaces that had left the demolition of the palaces of Modern Art and the Missions.

The gardens are magnificent with different sources and waterfalls, with a space that invites both to stroll and to rest and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.
