This is the one of the best ever place in the kollam city. Thangassery Lighthouse, an icon of ancient Kollam is situated 5 km away from Kollam town. This is the tallest lighthouse on the coast of Kerala&visitors are allowed to climb to the top of the lighthouse tower (spiral staircase) during 10.00AM to 5.00PM on all days except on Mondays.Elevator facility is also available. A 360 degrees panoramic view of the Arabian Sea &Kollam city can be seen from here. Need to take Tickets Before entering the Light House. Also a Small Playground for Children & Toilet Facilities also Available.......

It was really a worthwhile visit to the light house...loved the view from the light house and also to see such a historic monument. It's well maintained. And the visit time is from 10 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm till 6.00 pm. There is a basic ticket rate of Rs. 20 for adults and Rs. 10 for children, Senior citizens Rs. 10 and foreign nationals Rs.50. The light house has a lift inside making it easy to reach the top, however there are few stairs that needed to be climbed to reach up. We have to remove the footwear before entering the light house. The premises also has a small park for the kids.

Entry time: 10 am to 6 pm Entry fees: Rs. 20 for adults. Rs. 10 for children. Extra fees for mobile and camera photography. We parked outside as we did not see any dedicated parking space. You can reach the top of the lighthouse either by climbing stairs or taking the lift. Usually you'll have to wait 5-10 min in a queue to get into the lift. At the top, you get an exhilarating view of the coastline, the harbour and the distant sea. You feel at peace, gazing at waves crashing on the shoreline, and the cool sea breeze brushing against your face, before the watchman shoos you and tells you to keep moving.

Thangassery Lighthouse in Kollam, Kerala state, stands as a historic maritime structure with its distinctive red and white color scheme. Located in Thangassery, it offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding coastal landscape. The lighthouse serves both navigational purposes and attracts visitors interested in its architectural and historical significance.we have to pay an entry ticket. Lift facility available. Photography not allowed inside the tower where light installed.

I went here three times in the last six months, but the place remains closed to visitors. They are saying it can't be open to the public because of COVID situations. I don't know the logic behind it, as everything is back to normal now! Edited after my fourth visit on 25/06/22 Happy to see that it's opened for public now. The view from top is breathtaking. There is a lift facility which can be used for those who can't climb the steps.

Lovely views from the top of the lighthouse ❤️ You get to see a beautiful eagle's eye view of KOLLAM BEACH 🏝️ The winds above will give you chills The entry fee is 20 rupees and an extra 10 for photography 🎟️ including mobile camera. A very well maintained lighthouse be it the entrance or the upper deck all neat and clean. The staff also polite and helpful. You can use the stairs or a lift but I suggest taking the stairs to enjoy the experience ✌🏽

Really beautiful view from the top, it’s a very good destination to visit with family and friends. Needs to upgrade on much more in lieu of amenities and facilities, like could connect to the break water park as well .. which would be a better option for tourism promotion .

Great View from top, Well maintained, Old equipment well preserved and taken care. The person Incharge we were so kind to share some details about the history, it’s rare when compared to other monuments else where, Even though it’s near to my home town, could not get inside during childhood days. It's one of the best place to visit in Kollam. Due to pandemic they are not allowing the visitors, but it's one of the best place to visit. You can have a great view from outside it really looks beautiful from a long distance, on the way to this lighthouse you can also see a Fort which is completely destroyed and a single wall alone is there.

Situated near to Thankasheri St Thomas fort. Ticket costs 10 rupees per person plus 30 for mobile camera. It looks so simple until you start climbing the steps. Last part is a vertical ladder. Also there is a elevator inside the light house. The visuals from the top of the light house is priceless and very attractive. The best time to go is in the evening. Good for friends and couples. If you go along with kids, even though it's good you have to be very careful. You can see overall view of Fort also.

A very nice tourist spot. I went there with my friends. Ticket charges are Adult -₹ 20 Children -₹10 Senior citizens - ₹10 There is a parking area near it. The view from the top of the lighthouse is mesmerizing. Entry is restricted up to 6pm . We can have an excellent view of thangasshery beach from there. I recommend it as a good spot to spend a weekend. The cool sea breeze and scenery gives you all the satisfaction of waiting in queue for 15 minutes.

Thangassery Light House is a must-visit attraction in Kollam, Kerala. The lighthouse is a signature of Thangassery and offers a breathtaking view of the breakwater and small fishing harbor. The fishing boats here are very colorful and so are the houses we see from here. There is a lift that takes you most of the way up, but if you don’t need one, I would recommend walking up the steps and spending time at the windows. The lighthouse is well-maintained and the old equipment is well-preserved and taken care of.

Photos of Thangassery, one of the most scenic beauty of Kollam. While returning back from short 2 Km walk into the scenic Arabian sea, on the left is the beautiful sea, lashing the rocks beneath the light house but unfortunately on the right side is the garbage coming from the shores. In a way it's good that it's not going into the deep sea and destroying marine life!

Never Miss the view from::: The grand old lady of Tangi, had her origin as a raised column with an oil lamp built by the East India Company at the same site during the mid-19th century. The purpose was to guide their merchant vessels that came from the Malabar coast to Anjengo (now Anchuthengu) and went further down to enter the Bay of Bengal via Ceylon. Commissioned on March 1, 1902

It's 2nd tallest light house in kerala situated in thangassery which is a old Portuguese port. Tourist visiting kollam should definitely visit this place. The view from above the light house is mesmerizing.. From there we can see the costal beauty of kollam city and kollam 'pullimuttu' ( 1 1/2 km road across the sea for protecting Harbour from high tide). Either one can use the traditional spiral staircase or lift facility is also available to get to the top. We have to buy entry pass, parking is available but limited.

The Thangassery Light house is located in the Kollam district of Kerala, India. Visited the light house around 2pm and bought entry ticket. The light house has lift facility inside and will cover from ground floor to 2nd floor, Rest floor need to use spiral narrow steps to reach. Enjoyed panoramic view and breeze of the arabian sea. The view from the top of the breakwater and surrounding is really awesome. This is the best spot to get chilled out and can enjoy the beauty of the site. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to visit and remain a historical landmark ever.

The views from Thangassery Light House are extremely beautiful and serene. It doesn't matter what time of day you visit.. the view will always be great. There is an elevator in the lighthouse to save you from the effort of climbing the long spiral staircase. Along the staircase are windows with breathtaking views of the landscape, a promenade and beaches. At the top you will find a lens and lighting mechanism and a terrace. This place is open till 6pm in the evening.

It is one of the two lighthouses in the kollam district.it is in operation since 1902. This one has hight of 41 metres making as the second tallest lighthouse In kerala. Getting up there in the evening to see the sunset is a nice experience. Fee 20₹ per person and less for children From up there we can get a clear picture of the kollam breakwater. Best time is in the morning or evening when the sun is not that hot.

Thangassery Lighthouse is well worth a visit if in the area -- as a reward for ascending the 166 steps (if I'm not mistaken) are some quite spectacular views of the surrounding area, and all at a very reasonable admission price. The light house is well maintained. The break water nearby is excellent for sunset walk. Great breeze. Not entirely safe during the monsoon season because there may be rising waves.

Totally worth the visit. Breathtaking views of Kollam beach and Arabian Sea. Didn't feel like descending from the lighthouse. Loved the breeze atop the structure. There's a lift inside the lighthouse which we took only during the descent. We climbed up using the staircase which added to the feel. Well maintained lighthouse. We met the incharge who has been working at the facility for more than 25 years. Many working parts are from colonial era which added to the vintage charm.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Lighthouse, and I must say it was a truly unforgettable experience. Nestled along the breathtaking coastline, this lighthouse offers a unique combination of beauty and thrill that is hard to find elsewhere. Here's my review of the Lighthouse: First and foremost, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Lighthouse had a lift facility. This made the journey to the top much more accessible and convenient for visitors of all ages and physical abilities. The presence of a lift ensures that even those who may struggle with climbing stairs can still enjoy the panoramic views from the lighthouse. I highly recommend visiting the Lighthouse during the evening hours. Not only does it provide a stunning backdrop for capturing memorable photos, but it also offers a respite from the scorching daytime heat. The cooler weather adds to the overall pleasant experience, allowing visitors to explore the lighthouse comfortably. While the Lighthouse's top observation area may have limited space, this in no way diminishes the awe-inspiring view that awaits you. As you ascend to the summit, the anticipation builds, and once you reach the top, you're greeted by sweeping vistas of the surrounding coastline. The unobstructed views of the shimmering sea and the rugged cliffs are simply breathtaking, making the climb well worth the effort. However, I must warn you that climbing the Lighthouse can be a somewhat intimidating experience. The narrow staircases and steep steps add an element of excitement and adventure, but they may also evoke a sense of fear, especially for those with a fear of heights. If you're up for a thrilling challenge, climbing the Lighthouse will surely get your heart racing. Overall, my visit to the Lighthouse was a delightful and unforgettable experience. The combination of the lift facility, the cool evening weather, and the awe-inspiring views made it a must-visit attraction. Whether you're seeking a scenic adventure or simply want to soak in the beauty of the coastline, the Lighthouse offers an enchanting experience that will leave you in awe. I highly recommend visiting the Lighthouse, but do remember to check the operating hours and plan your visit accordingly. Enjoy the beautiful vistas and embrace the thrill of climbing to the top

Thangassery water park and lighthouse is a tourist attraction in Kollam. Plenty of space to park the car and an entry fee of ₹20 per person. Views of the harbour and sea are spectacular from this point. Nice place to hangout in the mornings and evenings.

we can climb the top of lighthouse tower with the avail of hoist or step, I optically canvassed most of the people cerebrating the hoist will reached the top of the tower haplessly it didn't reached to top, balance height we should climb manually. I optically discerned more insalubrious people additionally endeavoring to going topside but it will be very arduous because you may be suffering to breathing quandaries and other leg pain issues. The lighthouse top view was very astonishing. However, the lighthouse staffs are not controlling the people who was already climbed in top of the lighthouse, because people are not yare to gave space to another.

The famous Thangassery Lighthouse, which can be seen rising up majestically above the coconut palms. The cylindrical lighthouse tower is painted in catchy red and white oblique bands. Visitors can enjoy the glorious sun setting over the Arabian Sea as they drive down on the Lighthouse road. The Thangassery beach Lighthouse was built about 120 years ago to guide fishermen and sailors along the reef-riddled coastal waters. Its beacon can be seen up to 20km out at sea. Visitors are allowed to climb to the top of the 140feet high Thangassery lighthouse tower. A lift is available up to 3/4 of the tower and rest of the tower is reachable with narrow and steep steps. The spectacular 360 degrees panoramic view of the Arabian Sea and splendor of the backwaters and Kollam city is a treat to the eyes.
