This place is steeped in history, serving as a testament to the incredible resilience and bravery of the Gorkhas, who managed to bring an entire British army to its knees. The story of their triumph echoes through the ages, making this spot a poignant reminder of a remarkable chapter in history. As you embark on your journey here, the roads initially welcome you with their smooth, inviting surface. However, it's worth noting that the final stretch, spanning around 600 to 700 meters, presents a broken and rugged path. This adds an element of adventure to your visit, as you navigate through this terrain to reach your destination. Despite not being at a high altitude, the temperature here remains pleasantly cool, thanks to the encompassing jungle. The road itself is a visual delight, winding through lush greenery, making it a picturesque route that's perfect for photography enthusiasts. If you plan a picnic, do remember to be responsible and leave no trace behind. For nature enthusiasts, this location offers an idyllic setting for various outdoor activities. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll, an invigorating jog, or a refreshing bike ride, this road has it all. The canopy of trees provides ample shade, and the air is filled with the melodies of birds, creating a soothing and refreshing ambiance that feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of traffic. It's a haven for those who seek a peaceful communion with nature and a connection with the past while reveling in the beauty of the present.

This place is situated in between beautiful forests. Beautiful landscapes and steep roads make the journey adventurous. No public conveyance is available so private conveyance is the only option. It's better to take a bike or scooter to enjoy the natural beauty of this place.

The memorial is a testimony of Khalanga War between Gorkha and British Empire in 1814 over Khalanga Fort, which was under the protection of Gorkha Empire. The memorial is built on top of a small hill surrounded by jungle. The road leading here is very narrow, but well paved. It is navigable for both two and four wheelers. Path to this memorial is beautiful... goes through the jungle. People often come here for picnic. it is also a prominent place for morning -evening walk. The place is open throughout the day and months... although it is advisable to avoid the road in rainy season and also in dark after sunset.

It is a great place to visit. Covered with Greenery all over . I can say the war memorial is not that interesting as there it is simply a pillar with some kinda discription but the way and environment you will find while visiting this place is incredible. Trees you can find everywhere but here the trees are kinda different. From starting to the end the road is covered with forest and that itself gives somes different kinda vibe and the scene here is picture perfect. It's a good place to hang out with your friends or i can say ur loved ones ๐Ÿ˜œ. The path is suitable for cars and two wheelers. So what's stopping you it's a perfect place . Go plan a trip, but remember to maintain Greenery and not to pollute our environment, be a responsible traveller. Lolโค๏ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰

Located in the khalanga forest area, the war memorial is dedicated to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during battle of Khalanga between british army and gorkha rulers.. It is accessible by both two wheelers and four wheelers as well as walking trail. The memorial has litter around it and not very well maintained . Around it people come in the forest area for leisure etc.. I would recommend not to go specifically for the memorial but if you are in the forest area then surely visit it..

I visited this place on Khalanga mela, which was held at Sagar Tal near this place. It is an important history related to Anglo-gurkha war that took place here. Although the British won this war, however they acknowledged the bravery of the Gurkhas. This later lead to the creation of the Gurkha regiment in the British Indian army. The mountain on which Khalanga is located, is a lush green forest. A lot of biodiversity can be found at this place.

This is one of the shortest and beautiful trekk I have ever experienced I mean if you park you vehicle near IT park it would be barely around 3 kms from that place and the view you get in between oh my godd! The way is from between the forest everywhere you see are the same trees which make this place picture perfect You might get the knowledge of the war by other reviewers โค๏ธ

History: Khalanga war memorial is dedicated to the memory of the Gorkha soldiers who fought theย British in 1814 in theย battle of Nalapani, the first battle of theย Anglo-Nepalese war. Review: The road to the top of the hill is in very bad shape. It is very tough to bring the vehicle to the hill-top. Avoid bringing any scooties here as it won't serve you any good. Good experience in off-road driving can be a great help. Place: The place is just a small memorial podium with a tall structure erected in the honour of the Gorkha soldiers. It is surrounded with trees and other flora & fauna. One can park their vehicle down, and hike the trail up to the hill top.(roughly 1km)

The place is located inside a dense jungle. You can even come here by a car or you can park it 1.5 km away and have a walk to the memorial.

Nice place away from city and having historical significance. People should respect the place and surroundings. The road to Khalanga is pretty good surrounded by trees on both side. Its a great walk for nature lovers if you park your vehicles 2-3km below and enjoy the trail.

Did a trek to this place through a rough path. It's a place of historical importance. There are also few small unmanned temples around. One needs to carry own water and eatables as there aren't any around.

A very quiet place and the route is through a forest that has wild life. The air feels cool and clear. There are many college students who throng to this place as couples.

Khalanga War Memorial - Dehradun - A heritage monument of Goradun, India, who fought with the British in the Anglo-Nepalese War of 1814. The British were so impressed by the bravery of the Gorkhas that in the history of the war it was described as the only monument erected by victorious armies to their enemies. The building has been described by the Archaeological Survey of India as the only monument in the history of war erected by the victorious armies for the Red Army. . An annual fair is held here to commemorate the warriors and to commemorate Gorkha culture and history.

Khalanga War Memorial is a heritage monument in Dehradun, India. It is dedicated to the memory of Gorkha soldiers who fought against the British in 1814 at the Battle of Nalapani. This was the first battle of the Anglo-Nepalese War. It has been described as the only monument in warfare history erected by a victorious army for its adversaries. The British were reportedly impressed by the Gorkhas' valor. A memorial was built to honor some of the finest soldiers, and a fair was held annually to commemorate the soldiers and celebrate Gorkha culture and history. The way toward the memorial is as scenic as possible, so I recommend visiting in the morning and returning to the grounds before sunset. The forest doesn't have any lights, hardly any signs or people, and would be extremely difficult to navigate as a tourist. This is especially difficult on a two-wheeler because of the roads and steep curves. Follow the map towards Khalanga War Memorial Ground, and take the road ascending upwards to the end. The main place is at the end of the road.
