Fantastic place, awesome view and friendly staff. Good place to take photos. Breathtaking views of the surrounding area at 500+ metre high. Many cafes and shops to buy goodies, enjoying your cuppa and sitting around just enjoying the views. There's a number of seating area. Interesting gold ball, or they called it damper, to keep the building in-check if any earthquakes occur. It's a must to go and explore this observatory.

Beautiful tourist attraction! They line the windows with photo worthy backdrops! Definitely go on clear day so you can see all the mountain views! It has gift stores and various food stalls. You can go up to 91F and see the outside. It's very windy and chilly. Signs in multiple languages.

Awesome view of the city from the observatory deck! Unfortunately the outdoor deck was closed, even so difficult to beat the view albeit from indoors. It was quite a wait to get up to see it though, we waited over an hour just to get into line, then the line took around 30-45 minutes. There were some displays to entertain people waiting in line, however, with a baby and two other kids it did get a bit tedious. After getting into the elevator, amazingly the elevator took no time to reach the top. I believe the 101 is the fastest elevator in the world, my ears definitely popped a few times going up. From the observatory deck, besides the amazing cityscape, there are a number of displays and interesting bits of information to accompany the view. There is also gift shop and snack shop on the observation deck. Recommend checking out the building damper and video, it was a pretty interesting engineering feat to build a >500m tall building in a country that frequently experiences earthquakes. One floor below gives you a good view of the damper up close and you can really see how big it really is. There is also an entire floor dedicated to expensive souvenirs, think jewelry, statues, gold, and other expensive precious stones, so watch your kids closely you might end up having to buy a $100,000 USD broken vase. All in all, a very fun experience! Definitely recommend!

I had the most incredible experience at the Taipei 101 observatory! The 360-degree view of Taipei is absolutely breathtaking, allowing me to truly appreciate the beauty of the city from a whole new perspective. The elevator ride was incredibly fast, whisking me up to the observatory in no time. I also loved that there were plenty of options for food and drinks on the 89th floor, making it a perfect spot to relax and indulge while taking in the stunning views. Although there is an additional fee to reach the 101st floor, it's well worth it for those seeking an even more elevated experience. Highly recommended!

A romantic way to spend an evening in Taipei (as long as skies are clear. This is a great way to get your bearings and enjoy the skyline of Taipei. I advise checking sunset times before coming. And do note there is an outside platform upstairs. I was really impressed with all the scenes that they had created inside for Instagram style shots- like picnic area, angel wings, grass with light up bubbles. This is a great place to take pictures of kids as well was friends.

Not crowded at all, pleasant experience with a 360° view of Taipei It's better to check the forecast and the visibility before to go. The outdoor observatory is closed on rainy days and the visibility is not good

Wonderful! The observatory itself is great and has many spots thought as photo ops. There is a cafe and a super nice souvenir store, and of course you can see the mass damper. The sunset view is just gorgeous. The only drawback is the long line that builds, either for mobile tickets or in person purchases. I really liked the shopping mall on the base — very upscale and clean.

You can skip queuing for the tickets if you use the machines to buy tickets with credit card. Then you'll only have to do queue for the lift to go up. The lift ride up was fast but surprisingly very smooth. Once up there you can walk around the entire for floor and see the view. There is a souvenir shop and a small cafe with seats that also serve food. It was windy so we couldn't go outside. There is a small room one floor down that plays a short video how they made the tower with the counter weight ball. Just looking and taking some pictures, we spent about 45-60min up there. And about 30 mins queuing for the lift.

This was a great tourist attraction to go to. It looks beautiful at night. The price is about the same as any other major tourist attraction. I took off one star because we just missed the cut off time to do the skyline. Skyline is where you’re securely strapped and you can walk around outside at the very top. The views from the observation were stunning. Employees were nice and helpful.

It's more than 10 years ago during my first trip up the observatory, this time with good weather, view was good. It's the best place to look at Taipei and the surrounding mountains, unobstructed. Purchase of tickets is best done online to avoid queuing (may have discounts etc), the best time in my opinion would be just before sunset, so you may see Taipei both in day and night, and catch the sunset. Besides the main observatory deck (Sky View, indoors) at 89th floor, the open deck observatory (Sky Deck) 91st floor provides an even better view (but restricted to western side) of sunset without the tint/glass panels stains. With added fee, you can also proceed to the 101st floor (restricted duration), which you have to purchase online earlier. However, these are more indoor decors of indoor garden setting, which more for couples and family photos, but doesn't provide any added value on viewing the city.

👍: -Just looking at it from ground makes you feel dizzy already, this is a mammoth of a building marvel. -The tall 101 is mainly a business building, but there is a shopping mall just beside it as well. There is also an underground food court that serves cheap and delicious food. 👎: -Nothing, loved it!

It was a tad pricey to get up there, but I can guarantee it is worth it. The view of the city from the observatory is breath taking, I was lucky enough to be in time to watch the sun set over the city skyline. There are gift shops, a cafe and a washroom for your needs on the 92nd floor.

Fun experience! It takes about 30 seconds to get to the top and you essentially have 360 degree picture taking opportunities. There are also a lot of props throughout to give your photos extra flair. The tickets to the top came with some promos you can use at the top as well.

Second visit to Taipei 101 observatory after many years ago. The scenic views were spectacular with the mountainous terrain in the background. The most educational was the “damper baby” which kept the building in good shape during typhoon and earthquakes. The ticket counter staff was really helpful to explain the various tickets types and what were the differences on level 88,89 90 and 101. It was a great experience visiting the 101 observatory.

It has a great 360 degree view over Taipei when going up. The elevator is very fast to get to level 89, only 30 seconds, so your ears pop a bit due to the change in height pressure. It was interesting to learn about how they built the building with the big ball hanging in the middle to protect the building against earthquake and high winds, very educational videos to watch. Unfortunately they lost a star because the staff selling the tickets to go up was quite rude. He did not want to explain the different types of tickets and seems like he does not want to work there.

Visiting Taipei 101 Observatory was an awe-inspiring experience. The breathtaking panoramic views of Taipei from the 89th and 91st floors left a lasting impression. The observatory was well-organized, offering both informative exhibits and excellent viewing decks. The iconic design and engineering marvel of Taipei 101 were highlighted during the visit. Despite the crowd, the observatory maintained a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere, making it a must-visit when in Taipei.

TAIPEI 101: The tallest building in the world from 2004 to 2010. I remember watching its episode on Man Made Marvels more than 10 years ago. I can’t believe I finally got to see it in person! It was worth spending for the ticket to go to the observatory and see a 360 view of the Taipei city skyline.

Amazing view! I went here after dark to experience the panoramic view over the city of Taipei. It's a truly mesmerising sight! You can get souvenirs in the shop here, as well as admiring the massive openly visible (most other skycrapers in the world cover them up) damper for protection against earthquakes.

The Taipei 101 Observatory, visited in February, offers breathtaking panoramic views from the pinnacle of the iconic 101 Tower. The expansive vistas of Taipei cityscape are simply awe-inspiring. The observatory's design and informative displays enrich the experience, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring Taipei, especially for those seeking unparalleled views from one of the world's tallest buildings. Very amazing insides!

Iconic tower with plenty of activities to see and do. Lots of restaurants and next door buildings like ATT, Breeze and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi. The Obervatory Tower is a must. Amazing how fast the elevator fly up 89 floors.

Good views, but nothing more. For 600 NT$ you get to level 89 with 360 observation windows. You also can go down one level to see the mass stabilizer. For additional fee one can go to higher deck, but I didn't tried it. Overall, I think it is overpriced.

“Does the job but windows can be cleaner” First time up at the observatory and everything is well run from the ground floor to the top. The tickets can be bought at the kiosk for 600 as a adult foreigner. The lift in itself is an experience and there are stats on the in lift LCD screens showing you the rate of ascension. For those with kids, there’s plenty of cute photo spots for pictures.

Red line MRT goes right to the building. Super convenient. Tons of restaurants on the bottom floor. It's very similar to the observation decks of many other tall buildings. They had lots of cool set ups to take pictures, but the real treat is being able to see for miles so be sure to go on a clear day. The giant dampener was probably the coolest part. Apparently it's the only one open for public viewing in the world. More than that, having a giant golden ball at the center of the tower just feels so, so appropriate for such a Taiwanese cultural icon. The whole building is beautiful, but I especially loved the continuity of Taiwanese culture in its design. Our tickets were about $20 USD each, and I'd say it was worth it. The kids were free. We didn't eat up there or do any special extras.

Taipei 101 - must visit once at least. Great 360 views, especially on a clear day. Interesting shopping at the top. Make sure you check out the different displays available. Lots of food options around the building as well - do skip the queue at DTF. Head for the food court for variety of super alternative options.

Pretty good. I bought the ticket on-site (600 NT for foreign visitors), people said booking it from Klook is cheaper. But, if you have ARC you'll get the local price, 400 NT something. Use it to explore the whole visitable area. I went on weekday (Friday), but it's so crowded, especially at night. Too bad the available seats aren't enough so some people enjoying the sunset/view while sitting on the floor. Inside the observatory floor, you'll find a small cafe for a cup of coffee, souvenir shops, vending machines, and tokens machine. You can go to the upper floor where you can enjoy the strong wind hitting your face in the open-space area. You can see it in my video, the wind is too strong to the point you can hear the screeching sound of it!

Lots of people will say you haven’t officially visit taipei if you haven’t visit Taipei 101, well while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the observatory as well! I’d suggest to check the weather in advance, it was cloudy during my visit but the view was breathtaking nonetheless. You will have 360 view of Taipei, and I expect it to be amazingly gorgeous during the night as well with the night view of Taipei. You can also see the great earthquake pendulum, and understand how it works, how it manages to keep Taipei 101 safe from earthquakes. There are coffee shop and souvenir shops on the observatory level, but you can also sit around and enjoy the view without purchasing anything. Be careful of the pricing, because they have several different pricing; local people, international, student, ARC, etc.

Great view of Taipei! Was able to view all round the observatory in comfort. There was decoration set up to let visitors take great instagram friendly photos. It was also enriching to learn about how pendulums are used to stabilise the stucture. It was also an experience taking the lift up. Should drop by to visit if you have not been here before!

Super interesting observatory! Although the price is steeper than other attractions typically are in Taiwan (1000NT), I still think it's worth it to go! You get to really see how expansive Taipei is. The exhibits are also really engaging and quite informative. Note: Visited prior to COVID

Powerful city, partly full of smog. White people are sometimes a real attraction, but the Taiwanese are not rude. :) If you are rather a nature lover, 2-3 days should be enough for discovering the 'essential' parts of the city :-)

  • 5/5 Robert W. 1 year ago on Google
Really great observatory. I was impressed by the photo opportunity areas that had flower and picnic scenes you could put yourself in for some great photos with the view in the background. Best about them are that these were numerous and no extra charge. There were some nice exhibits on the construction, the dampening weight, and tower information. I liked the interactive touch screen where you can scan around and tap on and read about points of interest in several different languages.

Very nice and tall building As of September 2022 Go to the 5th floor to buy the tickets If you have ARC it will be 420 NT No ARC it will be 600 NT You will receive the ticket, voucher discount 100 NT to buy souvenirs and or to buy coffee There is photo booth where you can take photos by the staff and you have to redeem it on the 89th floor. The staff will guide you to the elevator The super fast, 1010 meter per minute, that is equal to 60 km per hour. You will reach the 89th floor in less than 2 minutes. You can see the view of Taipei from the 89th floor all directions You can redeem the photo here, with price 6*8, 1 for 400 and 4 for 1000 and 3*4 sizes 1 for 300 and 4 for 800 Select the background as it suits you. You can go to see the dampers and explanations about it inside. You can go up to the 91st floor using stairs to see the outdoor observatory only when the weather is fine. Go down using stairs until 88th floor to go back to the 5th floor. The speed for going down is 600 meters per minute. And you are done... Enjoy your time.

A must experience for anyone coming to Taiwan. We re-visited it the day after the large earthquake on September 18, 2022 hoping that we might experience an aftershock!

  • 4/5 Richard W. 1 year ago on Google
Great experience lift is super fast. Make sure you go up onto the outside observation deck for the nightime view of Taipei - amazing don't think you need to pay the 3000TWD to do that on the upper decks and make sure you see the damper on display as well stops the building moving in wind and earthquakes etc - Klook have good deals to get your tickets.

Very nicely presented observatory with three decks to visit including an outside space and one floor with 360 degree views. There’s a great amount of decoration inside for great photo opportunities. They also offer student discounts.

On two separate occasions I booked tickets through Klook to go to the observatory. Both times the tickets were processed & charged online, but the Taipei 101 observatory was closed. Very disappointing. The second time Morris, the supervisor for Taipei 101 observatory, was very apologetic and actually called Klook directly to get us a refund. He was so kind and very customer service driven. We had a drink at Bar88 which was perfect recovery from a disappointing experience. Look forward to one day returning to Taipei to go to the 101 observatory when the pandemic is over.

  • 5/5 Koren B. 1 year ago on Google
I got the “skip the line” tickets and am SO glad, worth it. Please note that you still need to convert the ticket code from online into an actual ticket, which has…a different line you can’t really skip. Unless you flag down a friendly worker willing to help. Anyway, worth going for sunset but give yourself an hour even with skip the line. There is a cute cafe and other stuff to see and do, so you won’t be bored. Very interesting info about how the construction keeps winds and earthquakes from making it wobbly, too.

I love it… this is my second visit after 4 years. It was cold outside and I got myself a hot coffee while enjoying the scenery at 89F observatory, super crowded as it was public holiday. Would be nice if we can visit again on normal period.
