Beautiful church. Very unique. You need to pay to enter. I also heard a sermon in English. I think they do English sermons on Monday afternoon. I am not Christian so I can't rate from prayer/sermon/praying facility point of view but still I can say that it is very nice and unique church in the whole world

Most amazing church EVER. Such a beautiful and peaceful place. Design and architecture is outstanding. We happen to be there at the time of the mass in English and I am not a religious person but the mass was beautiful. The priest sang very nice and the acoustics were fantastic

We loved the church very much. It’s a unique place to visit. The church is built into the existing rock. This makes the place even more unique from the acoustic point of view. Inside is so peaceful: quite and beautiful piano music was playing the whole stay 💕 definitely must be visited

Interesting church but heard it’s no longer as vibrant as it was as a worship place but more popular for concerts and weddings. Sad state of affairs.

Interesting church carved out of bedrock. It was built by two brother architects in the 1960s and is famed for its acoustics. It’s a bit expensive to go in (8 euros) in my opinion, but an interesting church nonetheless. It’s actually quite small, that is why the price seems a bit steep for me for what you get.

Beautiful rock church open daily from 10a - 7 p except Sundays. They offer 15 minute tours in English and Finnish. Cost to get in is 5 euro. Very lovely. Their summer cafe is open for summer months of June - August.

A must-try attraction when you visit Helsinki. Very beautiful, peaceful and holy place to not only Christians but also tourists. A special church was created by carving into a huge stone. So the locals call it as "the stone church". There are often many musical performance here and I usually spend some free time to listen music here to balance my life and work. Highly recommended

Indeed this is quite unique. However except the building itself there isn't much to do. The architecture is impressive especially for the church. Tickets are not cheap though, but they can ask such prices as people are still going to come.

I'd highly recommend a visit to this beautifully natural church, cut into the bedrock. The design is exceptional, from the copper ceiling to the bare rock walls, with the excavation drill lines still visible. Inside, there is a calm feeling of serenity. The €5 euro entry fee is a fair and reasonable price.

If you are coming to Helsinki, this stop is an absolute must. It is truly a unique experience and would highly suggest attending some type of concert - the acoustics are impressive. Important point - know where the entrance is at hahaha. You can easily find yourself on the back side of the church, climbing up stairs or walking up a path to a small outdoor seating area with now way to get down to the entrance. I marked on the screen capture where to go in. I will say the entrance to the church looks like you are going into a bunker. But as soon as you come in, you see the unique beauty of this church. There is an entry fee, but there is a small shop at the entrance, so you can pay with a card. We came in during a choir and instrumental practice. The seating is unique and fits perfectly within the space. There is also a beautiful organ, but unfortunately, we never got to hear it. I can imagine it would be quite the experience. There is additional seating on the upper balcony - also great sound and a viewing area if you don't want to go down onto the floor area. We spent quite a bit of time just sitting and admiring the work that was done to create such a unique place of worship. Thank you very much.

The pros : original place inside a rock and with an impressive metal roof. From the outside doesn’t look like much but inside is much more impressive. The cons : entrance fee of 8 euros is on the high side for a visit that will take a few minutes at best.

Temppeliaukion Church was one place that I will never forget. As I went in for the tour the choir was practicing, and I'll tell you it was absolutely heavenly. Extremely nice staff and is only 4 euros to enter :)

Nice and attractive architecture. I give 4 stars because of paid entrance. It was surprise for me that place for praying is not free of charge. Anyway, I can recommend it as interesting place on the map of Helsinki.

It has a remarkable structure that beautifully combines nature and modernity. The church is carved into rock, resulting in an interior illuminated by natural light pouring through the skylight. The incorporation of exposed rock walls and a copper dome brings together a touch, enhancing the overall atmosphere.

Beautiful place. I loved to walk around touching the stone walls. You can spend all the time you want. Don't forget to walk on the top of the church too.

This is a cool church! Neat idea to build it into the rock. Great symbolism there. The architecture and build out is really cool! The ceiling is sweet. Admission was around $6 USD. Always find it odd to charge admission vs request for donations as a church, it does make me question the reason for building it…but obviously there are operating costs. I’d say it was still worth the expense because the building is that unique. There are multiple souvenir shops on the wall up the hill.

Was closed for a private service, but very nice outside and probably inside as much as I could see. Nice even to walk around ...

This was on my must-see list and glad I got to experience going inside. Unless you’re in Italy, church has never been on any of my itinerary but this was a one of a kind unique contemporary church built out of a rock. How many churches do you know where the interior was excavated from a solid rock?! Suggest you take in the atmosphere from the upstairs balcony.

Overall, this is a nice church built from rock with a huge copper ceiling crown. The entrance fee of €8 is not worth it as I was done in less than 10 mins. There's a cloakroom to hang your belongings. You can sit as long as you wish and enjoy the surroundings, say a prayer and light a candle. There's also a little giftshop at the entrance.

The place itself is stunning and beautiful. However the entrance fee is extremally high. And extra donation for a candle. So it was a spot I wanted to show my child but wouldn't come again.

Unusual church carved into rock with skylights & a copper dome. Quite striking but we only viewed from the outside. The dome is from 22kms of copper strips. You can climb around the rocky surroundings to view from almost the top. You can pay to go inside, which looks amazing.

Great place to view an architectural marvel in the heart of Helsinki. €5 to enter, probably spent 20 min inside just walking around and snapping photos. It can get pretty busy but it’s definitely a cool place to see in person.

The church looks cool from the outside, but please, pay the small amount of admission fee and check out what's hiding inside. The workers there are really kind and cheerful, and the church is absolutely stunning. You can take the stairs to check it from the first floor as well. If you are really tired, you can take a seat and admire the architecture from there. There is also nice organ music playing in the background.

It's a very interesting concept to built a church in the rocks. The copper dome is really amazing. In general I liked the feeling of being in the church but I would prefer the music to play louder. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Very beautiful and unique church. For visiting you need to pay. The inside it just fabulous, and you need to see it. You can buy the tickets online in advance or at the ticket counter in the church. Definitely worth a visit!

I could’ve stayed here taking pictures all day, it was absolutely breathtaking. The light streaming through the windows and bouncing off of the natural rock made for one of the most photogenic church’s I’ve had the pleasure of visiting.

This is really a very beautiful church. Unfortunately there are mostly a lot of tourists. Therefore it is not really silent in this church. It sounds more like waiting at the railway station. Sometimes a lady talks through the speakers to be more silent, but this helps only 5 seconds... For me a fun fact: Even citizens of Finnland are not allowed to enter this church without paying the entrance fee... 😂

The church design shows how architecture can create unotrusive but impressive buildings. My impression was that the church was alive, which was emphasized by water dripping from granite slabs both inside and outside.

It’s clean and different. However, I do not think it’s worth paying €4 and no toilet available. Nothing much to see, it’s all in the pictures here. If you have time to spare, you can include in your itinerary otherwise don’t waste time.

Beautiful space, the sound of trickling water through bedrock is a lovely touch to a space of worship.

A very different church, built into the rocks giving it a unique look and amazing acoustics. Is a great place to sit for some quiet and can of course pray and light candles etc. There is a €4 entry fee, but is free with the museum pass and Helsinki card.

Helsinki is a relatively young capital city, which I noticed fast, because to me it seemed like the city does not have too much too offer as compared to many other capital cities. But of course there are places in Helsinki that totally stand out, one of them being the Temppeliaukio church, also called the Church of the Rock, as it was built into a rock. This is also one of the main reasons why the acoustics inside are just amazing. A very unique place and maybe my favorite highlight in my short stay in Helsinki.
