(Translated by Google) 2021.03.06 Parking nearby A lot of food Many cultural and creative products are repetitive and the price is high Fewer attractions nearby But there are many toilets and convenient There are also hand wash milk and toilet paper🧻 Japanese architecture is really not flattering Really short enough A sense of oppression When it comes to travel, whether it’s a small trip nearby or a long-distance trip, traveling is all about being able to touch a different self, different experience, different insights, and a different cultural history in a strange place. And the way of living brings a big or small impact to oneself, can find things that have never been seen before and the lifestyles of people on the ground, discover the waves that have never been agitated in the routes that are usually used, and can also feel the gradual progress of a city The circulation of the people, especially the hometowns where you have lived, or certain places that you will visit regularly. The "Hinoki Senhuo Village" shared in today's article used to be a dormitory for Japanese basic-level employees in the early days, while the southern area was a high-level official dormitory. In 2005, the Chiayi City Government registered the above-mentioned building complexes as "Municipal Historic Sites" and "Historic Buildings". It is not only the earliest forestry village in Taiwan, but also the most complete and extensively preserved Japanese-style official building complex. In order to preserve the important cultural heritage, it has undergone four years of renovations, and the revitalization project of old houses is used to continue the context, combined with enterprises and cultural creativity, and become a venue for the public to understand forestry history, appreciate traditional construction methods, the beauty of wood crafts, and art exhibitions. . (Translated by Google) The large-scale Japanese-style architectural cultural and creative park continues to have updates and new activities. There is a lot of traffic nearby and it is not easy to park. Very diverse stores and goods are flooded in the park. Every store is worth checking out. It is tall. You must be careful not to hit the beam with your head. You can find food, clothing, housing, transportation and related products here. You can spend a whole day hunting treasures here. There are restaurants where you can eat when you are hungry, and coffee or coffee when you are tired. The dim sum shop can take a break, and there will be occasional street performers on the street. Many places are good for taking pictures. There are places that you must not miss when you come to Chiayi. There are many surrounding alleys that are worth walking around. There will be unexpected Surprise appeared. During the epidemic prevention period, most of the stores also put on masks for epidemic prevention, a personal favorite place^^ (Original)

Japs left over in Taiwan. The Taiwanese are smart enough to turn the Japanese leftover into a profit generating machine for the locals to boost their economy. There are a handful of wooden quarters being preserved and refurbished into shophouses selling from home-made and healthcare and other non essentials to boost their incomes. Not all of these wooden quarters turned shophouses sell genuine Japanese goods, it's a fusion of both local and Japanese products more to attract tourist. Ya there was a huge crowd no doubt about it but majority of them were tourist forcefully brought there by the tour agents. The idea of bringing tourists here with more then an hour's drive from Kaohsiung city was for you to spend money, buy the products on display and boost the incomes of these locals, they're not so much on boosting the economy. If you have been to one of these tourists business pot then you've been to all. They sell the same old concept of pushing their products, same goes for this place. To be honest, nothing of significance to resurrect Japanese culture or heritage except for a Japanese folk song play over a loud speaker. Given a chance, I rather skip this place knowingly that whatever sells here are normally more expensive than elsewhere. So you understand the true nature of tourist agents bringing you here, taking into consideration of the time taken to come here from city centre is somewhat exhausting. Anyway, enjoy yourself since you're already here. Good luck and happy shopping. Give me a like👍 for inspiration.

This is a very interesting, well preserved and clean little Japanese village showing parts of history within Taiwan. There are art shops, eateries, food products and shops producing cotton towels, souvenirs and clothes. I bought cotton towels as the quality felt really comfy to the touch. I loved the gardens, photography exhibition and the wishing area - write your wish on a piece of wood and hang it in the wishing area. Its nice to keep this part of the culture.

Good for a quick stop to buy local delicacies like egg rolls and biscuits, and souvenirs. This was built by the Japanese during the occupation, and is also located opposite the old railway station.

Nice place, all Japanese style wooden buildings. Though Taiwan tourism bureau make these historical sites into… like shopping mall… not a real place for people to know more about this small country or local history

It is actually an outdoor garden-style shopping center of various stores, mainly food, drink, and health and beauty products, located in previously Japanese-built-and-owned buildings, with addition of Japanese-style garden, trees, step stones. Although it is named with one Chinese word, forest, it is really nothing to do with forest in any sense. It is a shopping center to attract tourists, shoppers, and other visitors, and it provides free access of bathrooms at two locations of the shopping center.

Japanese style wooden buildings make up this historic area in this town. The buildings are shops that sell souvenirs, wooden crafts and some are cafes with a bit of food as well. You can even hire a kimono from one of the shops to wear . Worth a visit if you're in the area and like small local craft shops and a casual place to chill. Not a bad place for taking a few photos.

It is a small and nicely structured Japanese village with several small and rather pricier shops. I liked the architecture and the garden, as well as the friendly people who were working there. But overall I would rather describe it as "nice" than really good. I don't think it is a must see, but if it fits its nice to check it out.

Just a historical place of Japanese dormitory in the past. Now it's more of a tourism site filled with shops selling a few of their iconic items such as cypress tree items (pretty fragrant and good looking wood) If you are interested in some wooden cypress item to buy back, you can come here. If not it's just a 30min walk around the area to see the Japanese and western Japanese buildings.

Very nice place to hangout or spent an afternoon doing nothing but relaxing. It’s spacious and with a lot of gift or coffee shops. I have to say that the store design is not as stylish as I saw in Taipei or other richer cities, but if you put aside the artist’s mind for a bit, all is good for this small village.

(Translated by Google) About Hinoki Senhuo Village... The 29 Japanese-style wooden historical buildings can be formally divided into one-family building for senior managers, two-family building for supervisors and dependents, four-family building for dependents’ dormitories, and multi-buildings for single dormitories. Not only the planning is well-organized, but with a deep and gentle atmosphere, but in the entire architectural community, there are public bathhouses and guest houses to meet the dual combination of living functions and commercial functions, and reproduce the ingenious layout of the village when it was built. In Hinoki Senhuo Village, which has undergone four years of restoration and planning, it is now possible to reproduce the old Japanese-style dormitory style and give us a glimpse into the life history of early Alishan forestry development. It not only has the cultural significance of preserving historical buildings and monuments, but also has the educational function of deep local cultural and historical assets. Therefore, when we open the sliding door, we suddenly travel through time and space in the tranquility, stepping into history, the living environment of our ancestors, in the smell of cypress wood. When we slowly walk through the yellowing cultural accumulation, the new green life pulse will bloom in our hearts, allowing history to continue to be passed on, and the story to be innovative. ⚠️It’s not easy to park here, there are paid parking lots nearby, and the rates are different on holidays and weekdays! !

There is no unified store signboard, and it is ugly to use neon signboards to hang imitation Japanese buildings.
