It was good. I was surprised by the new bowls. They’re rectangles now. Anyway this is standard ichiran fare, it’s a must try for ramen.

Tried out this outlet at Canel City. First time being served with the rectangle bowl. Taste is always consistent. Loved the concept as well, it’s a private setting between you and the noodles. You can fold up the barrier between you and your neighbour, if you choose too as well.

(Mar 2018) this is the second Ichiran branch I tried. The soup tasted slightly sweeter than the branch in front of Hakata station. Still delicious though. The soup bowl is also different, it's rectangular rather than the round bowl. Looks interesting but it's easier to eat from a round bowl.

Happy to have a chance to try the Ichiran tonkotsu ramen which originates in this area, and conveniently there is one in the basement of the Hakata Canal City mall. Several blocks away there is a standalone Ichiran Ramen restaurant. Ordering is not trivial as it's through a vending machine in front of the restaurant despite there are instructions for first time customers. Best to have your phone translation app handy. After ordering, you'll be shown to a small booth where you wait for your ramen to show up through the little bamboo curtain window. The bowl is rectangular instead of the typical round bowl, with its signature red hot sauce on top. There are more instructions (in English) on how to request additional items. Otherwise, it's a yummy tonkotsu ramen - thinner than usual, thick tonkotsu broth, green onion garnish, and soft pork slices.

An unassuming eatery that has excellent ramen. Noodles and soup cooked to perfection, according to how I want it done. The soup is so smooth that I finished every drop of it. It’s also not noisy and clean.

-Visited on a Sunday during lunch time, queued for less than 20mins. -Easy to order with ticket machines outside the shop. While queueing, a paper will be passed to you so that you can circle your ramen preference. Available in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean. -Seats are separated so that each person will have their own space to enjoy the ramen. If you visit in a group, the staff will ask if you would like to sit next to each other or separately. There were not a lot of seats in this outlet but the turnover was quite fast. Hangers are available to hang your coat and a hook under the table for your bag. -Signs and extra order forms are available at the table in English and Japanese so that we do not need to speak to the staff. A call button is available on the table and staff will efficiently respond at the window in front. -Serving time was fast. -Soup was fragrant and the ramen was delicious. Portion was adequate but you can order more noodles if required. There is only one dessert on the menu but it was nice.

To me, this is ramen at its best. Customisation according to freewill. I ate it 2x and wanted more. Try and see if u agree.

Excellent ramen. Expect a line. The menu is limited so as to better pursue perfection in a narrow scope. The ramen was amazing. The almond matcha pudding had the best texture. There are multiple locations in Fukuoka but this is the only one I've been to.

Best place in canal city for ramen! Very private dining! Excellent customizable ramen. You can get rid of the divider if you want to talk to your friends! The half order of extra noodles was perfect for me, my husband got the full order, but he never finishes his broth.

First time visiting and had a good ramen. For me visiting every ramen places is a must do activity while I am in Japan. Ichiran ramen had a really really good noodle, but the broth wasn’t quiet enjoyable (again, i am not a salty food fan). Maybe i should’ve checked less salty from their order book, but not sure there was a check box option tho. It is always enjoyable with a cup of beer! 🍻

Hope it’s the same as the main store. Couldn’t bother to walk 15 min in the burning sun, 35 degrades. Broth and noodles were perfect, choose to your own preference. The standard size was kind of small had to order extra noodles. I’m not a big eater, but you can order afterwards, just have the money ready. You could choose the firmness again.

ichiran is THE place to enjoy hakata ramen. the atmosphere is very unique in that there are dividers between you and other patrons, and servers give you the ramen and then give you privacy by unrolling a small bamboo curtain. you can also customize your ramen on a notepad, and use a button to call the servers. its super friendly to foreigners!

I didn't even dare to go to the ichiran main store... I felt like I was being served at a prison when I walked up to the seat of the one-person seat and put food in it. The food was so so.
