Roughly have about 193 steps to climb to the top but it also have an elevator so you can go up if through that and save your legs. But you do have to climb about 20 steps even with the elevator. Also have a pendulum at the bottom theorised by famous French physicist Foucault. It’s €5 for adults and €3 for students to enter. Have a small collection of poetry at the bottom floor as well. Well worth a visit to go up and have a look at the whole city of Vilnius and see the contrast of the old city and the new city of Vilnius.

Bell Tower and University Tower (st John's Tower), two look-out towers to take a view at Vilnius like a bird. (Charges apply). The Bell Tower is located next to the Cathedral whilst St John's Tower is located in the University .

You enter the bell tower of St. John's church next to the University. Enter from Pilies Street. 5 Euros to catch the elevator to the top floor. Wonderful Panamas of the city but there is wire mesh on windows! Not good for photos. Best photo panaramas are Hill of three crosses and Gedimino Tower. However there is a pendulum clock on the ground floor (a Foucault Pendulum) and this bell tower in the centre of the old town is very old.

Entry price is 2.5 euros, which is fair enough because the view is truly beautiful. If this is your first time in Vilnius then don't hesitate and enter. Problem is tho that the stairway that leads to the top is very narrow and pretty dangerous so you should be careful.

I gotta say this is easily the worst sightseeing tower I’ve ever been to. Not because of the sight (Vilnius is a nice city) but simply because there’s NET all around and it’s impossible to take a nice picture of the city. There was only ONE small window you could open and there was no net so at least they gave us that. I’m not even talking bout the entry fee. I paid 10€ (1 adult = 5€). I’m the last person to complain about ticket prices when I’m traveling but this was a fail really. Do yourself a favor and skip.

Situated within the storied grounds of Vilnius University, the oldest university in Eastern Europe, Šv. Jonų Bažnyčios Varpinė stands out as a must-visit attraction for tourists and locals alike. In the heart of the old town, this vantage point offers a sweeping gaze over Vilnius' iconic red rooftops. Reaching this panoramic perch is pleasantly straightforward. Instead of a taxing climb, an elevator eases the majority of the ascent, followed by a brief journey of 15-ish steps to the viewing platform. Here, the city reveals itself in a tapestry of architectural wonders and centuries-old narratives. Nestled in the Yard of Vilnius University, Šv. Jonų Bažnyčios Varpinė isn't just a spot to admire views; it's a confluence of history, architecture, and panoramic beauty. A true reflection of Vilnius' spirit and a highlight for any city visit.

Great view from the top so worth the 5 euro, there is a lift most of the way but you have to clime the last stairs to the top.

(Translated by Google) Probably the best observation deck in Vilnius. First you go up the elevator, then you climb the stairs, at the end you climb out onto the top floor through a hole in the floor. With an open gallery, the whole city center is in full view. The views are much more interesting than from the Gediminas' tower.

The best views of Vilnius Old town

  • 5/5 Dani M. 11 months ago on Google • 221 reviews
The bell tower is located by the church at the entrance of the complex and the entrance costs 5€. It is really recommendable to visit as the views from the top are probably the best, having a 360 degree view of the old town and whole Vilnius, it the highest building of the old town. The ground floor contains an exposition about the University whil on the first you can find a Foucault pendel and an elevator till the 4th floor, you can also climb 200 wooden steps to the top. To access the open air rooftop, you need to just by feet climbing a few steps, a little price to pay to get an amazing reward,

(Translated by Google) It is definitely worth rising to the top. Entrance costs 3 euros. This is just a miracle, but there is an elevator. In such an old building they made an elevator. You can climb the stairs on foot. From the height a beautiful view of the city opens. (Original) Обязательно стоит подняться на верх. Вход стоит 3 евро. Это просто чудо, но есть лифт. В таком старом здании и сделали лифт. Можно и пешком подниматься по лестнице. С высоты открывается прекрасный вид на город.

The prices have changed. It's 4.50 euros and the view is obstructed by a net. You might as well save yourself the money and go to the castle for good views instead.

Nice views for a 5 EUR entrance fee - worth it. Accessible by lift (plus a few last quite steep steps) or by wooden stairs.

    Very nice sightseeing spot

  • 5/5 Ada W. 4 years ago on Google
Take the elevator up and walk down the wooden stairs if you’re really inclined, the final accent is little more than a wood ladder thru a narrow opening, worth it for the views and photo ops at the top though.

  • 5/5 D. S. 5 years ago on Google
Great views of the city! Plus there is even an elevator within the tower and the price of 2.50€ is very reasonable.

(Translated by Google) Another great place for city explorers who like to take in the city skyline from above. There is an elevator to the top, but the last steps have to be tackled in a rather difficult way and pass through a rather narrow hatch. Above you can see great views of the Old Town. You can only climb the tower during the warm season. (Original) Dar viena puiki vieta miesto tyrinėtojams, mėgstantiems apžvelgti miesto panoramą iš aukštai. Į viršų kelia liftas, tačiau paskutinius laiptelius tenka įveikti gana sudėtingu būdu ir išlįsti pro gana siaurą liuką. Viršuje matomi puikūs senamiesčio vaizdai. Į bokštą pakilti galima tik šiltuoju laikotarpiu.
