I had a great experience touring around Kurdistan and hiking with Arazu and the lovely group at Kurdistan Outdoor. It was very comfortable and safe as a solo female traveller. The buses are full of sociable people so it makes it a great place to meet like minded individuals. We ate amazing food, explored 500,000-year-old archeological sites, met amazing people, and saw otherworldly natural sites. We learned about the beautiful, powerful, tragic, and inspiring history of Kurdistan. By the end of our journey, we felt that we were Kurds and that Kurdistan was our second home. Kurdistan is unlike any other Middle Eastern country and in my humble opinion it is truly the best :-) The cost of the tours was extremely economical for us (we are American) and based on our experience traveling in places from Egypt to Vietnam, we always felt that we were in fact under-paying for all of the experiences that we got (things we wouldn't have seen in 1000 years of exploring on our own). I love going on trips with this group. The guides are super friendly and they choose really interesting places that I was not aware of in my 27 years living in this region. The buses are not cramped so you have space during the ride and you get to socialize with the group because it is not over-crowded.
