Had Katsu grilled chicken and rice. Didn't really like it the food was unappealing, small portion, meat tasted cold. You could actually get in and sit for 15mins and no one would come ask if you want to make an order.(lol) Quite odd. Albeit, on the good side, the atmosphere is quiet and welcoming. Food not too pricey. Variety of drinks to choose from 🙂 The rest room is clean and stocked. You can just walk up to the bar and place your order.

It's a spoons what else can I say apart from the drink and food were so cheap. (Actually works out cheaper than a McDonald's). Great service, food massively exceed expectations for the price, and to cap it off a decent atmosphere...would definitely go back...I mean all of that for a snifter of £13...how could anyone grumble?

Another lovely building with a Wetherspoons inside. Always a great atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Prices for both food and drink are great value and such a refreshing change from other places in the town where prices for just a coffee can be 3 times higher.. Plenty of space to move around with lots of tables spread out all over the ground floor area.

It's one of the best buildings I have ever visited for weatherspoons chains pubs in the UK and I couldn't stop myself from taking photos and video

Lovely place with a cozy atmosphere. Reminds of an authentic English pub with huge variety of food and drinks! Great food and drinks deals. Large space, recommended for big groups as well. Worth visiting ☺️😉

Fine for a quick pint and a bite to eat. Prices for drinks and food probably the best in Aberdeen.

Well that is somewhere I won’t be going ever again! 1. Staff! They on some power high! Especially the dude with the star neck tattoo. Who the hell do u think u are? Asked for a cloth to wipe down the dirty table so we can have breakfast on it and the attitude started. Because I am asking to much to eat of a clean table ? 2. The food tastes like it comes straight out a microwave! Even the eggs. 3. It’s old and dated 4. It’s dirty! The menus are filthy and I don’t think they ever been wiped down, matching the filthy tables 5. If you looking for somewhere to have a pint first thing. That’s where to go! Definitely not somewhere you want to eat. Go to the pub across the road instead!

NEVER ORDER THE MIXED GRILL !!!! Instead of a pork chop they gave me a piece of fat. I complained and they refused to exchange it. They said the mixed grills come into the kitchen as a whole pack so the won't open a second one. Blatantly breaking the SALE OF GOODS ACT!!!

The food was good. I enjoyed being able to look out the windows to see the boats coming and going and also see the people on the beach

The Archibald Simpson is an old favourite. It has been a key part of Aberdeen for a long time. Good food, quick and cheerful service, and a reasonable selection of real ale. It has lost its shine a little recently however, the menu has lost some traditional pub dishes and I find it more difficult to select what I want. No steak pie for instance, no chilli and fairly limited desserts. More annoyingly, in my recent visit, no coffee as they had run out of milk - before 6 in the evening. Still worth a visit, but not quite as often as before... I don't seem to be able to do a new review, so here's an update today a year or so later. Still a place I like to go, still a mix of pleasure and frustration. Mediocre service today, some longer than usual waits at the bar. New menu, but still unavailability, we both wanted salads and neither of them were available. On the up side, a decent beer, a porter North Point, from Orkney brewery, which is one of my favourite breweries. We've been picking some of the small plates occasionally, rather than a main course, with Nachos being a favourite. We've had it now about 8-10 times in different Wetherspoons and this is the best presented it has ever been, by some margin - see the photo.

Can't really go wrong, decent enough food for the price, good selection of drinks and offers. Nice building and seating available outside. Toilets being 3 miles upstairs discounts the 5 star review. There is accessible toilets on the ground level for those who require it.

Haven't been here in a long time but my experience was excellent, went to Archibald Simpson for breakfast, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious, I ordered the full Scottish breakfast and it was cooked perfectly so compliments to the chef! Coffee is from a self service machine and the beans are really good surprisingly. I'll definitely be back.

Been here a few times when working in the area. You know what you are getting from a spoons. This particular one the building is amazing, it has so much character. The staff are a credit, polite and extremely helpful. The food for the price is value for money and definitely filled a hole. The real ale is kept well. There gets plenty of people in across all age groups. Well work a visit

Not my favourite witherspoons bar but not bad either. Some of the staff are really helpful and a few need training on food hygiene. After handling money etc the member of staff proceed to serve a sprig off mint in my drink using his hands which put me off.

Good night out with friends. Reasonably priced drinks. Lovely food and excellent service. I had gammon and egg which was well cooked and mixed grill for my husband was equally good.

A very mixed crowd, nice place architecture wise but lacking some atmosphere (no music, bright lights). Drinks are very cheap and there's a decent selection of beers on tap.

Highlight: Fantastic building (old bank) like many other Wetherspoon pubs but could do with a little sprucing. Lowlights: Very poor customer service. Waited over 20 mins to be served breakfast when the pub was very quiet. When I approached the bar to ask about the delay I was greeted, as were the three people waiting in front of me, with a gruff "Yip". Not a smiley "What can I get you" or "how can I help you". When I explained I'd been waiting over 20 minutes there was no "I'm very sorry" or offer of explanation, just "Your next on the list". The food then arrived cold with an undercooked egg. There's a lot of work required on customer service in this place and I'd encourage the management or area management to have a close look at the way in which customers are looked after. I now understand why my friends refuse to use this pub.

Very good service, especially if you order via their App. The food was fine at very reasonable price. We chose the afternoon menu as it includes free drinks. Additional drinks were also reasonably priced compared to other local eateries. Good seating available. However, you do need to climb a few stairs to get to the toilets! 😊

A fine, no frills pub. Lively, a little loud for my personal preference, but still thoroughly enjoyable. Food was served quickly and was roasting hot when it arrives. Worth dropping in if you're passing.

Really loved this gem of a place. We found it recently and went today for our 2 year anniversary breakfast. Lovely interior. Food is good and very affordable. Would definitely return for some more coffee and pasta

Yes it is a chain but service and quality are guaranteed. Wonderful heritage building with classic interior. Lots of space and not too noisy to talk. Great range of food and drinks. Haggis Pizza!

The food is nice and cheap, same with the drinks. Decent place to go to after a long day to have a catch up with a friend and a cheap meal, but that’s kinda it. Staff have gotten rude and burnt out over the years, cleanliness has gone down hill. Tables constantly dirty, every glass I’ve gotten has had lipstick smudges or general smudges on them.

Nice big pub, great option for drinks. For a Wetherspoons it's nice. Staff were polite, we were able to order drinks at the table, quick service.

Lovely building and well looked after. The place was clean and staff efficient and helpful. Meals, I ordered at the bar and they were delivered very quickly. Quality was as you would expect. Prices were excellent. Word of warning, when using the app to order, make sure you are ordering from the right pub!

Great night as always here. Service seemed slower via the app than normal. Apple pie and custard came as ice cream and noticed the G&Ts didn't come as advertised with the oranges and lemon as per the menu. Always good though to get drinks sent to the table from friends on Twitter!
