No words can describe the coolness. If you are a jazz musician bring your axe and prove your chops. If you are a patron buy lots of drinks and support this gem. This is one of those "if you know, you know" kind of places. We will return to Tokyo specifically to return here. More special than I can express fully.

can’t recommend this place enough! after a long day of a jam-packed itinerary, my sister and i were about to collapse after our dinner but decided to check it out anyway since it was only about 10 min away from our hotel. once we arrived, the inviting and warm reception of the cozy and intimate jazz bar made us forget about our exhaustion and we were swept into a corner where you can feel and enjoy the energy of the talented jazz musicians right in front of you. cover charge of only ¥1000. photos and videos are from their saturday night session. a must-visit! 💙🔥🔥

Cool little experimental jazz bar in Tokyo. With a constant STREAM of musicians through the night. Not a lot of room but the owner is friendly and so are the patrons. Worth checking out.

This place is so awesome! One of the best jazz venues I've been to. So many talented musicians playing cool tunes. We arrived around 8pm and stayed for hours as we kept saying 'one more set' to ourselves. It can get super tight but it's part of the cool vibe. 1000yen for sitting charge including first drink, then 500yen each drink after. It's so inexpensive and really great they've made live jazz affordable and accessible. It was our best night in Tokyo!

This is probably the best thing I did this trip to Tokyo. Great vibes and music, with so many talented jam session musicians. It has a cozy ambience and friendly atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and visit this jazz spot for an enjoyable evening filled with awesome jazz.

This was the perfect spot to hang out for our final night in Tokyo. It's a small bar in a basement but they are able to pack in quite a lot of people. Would recommend to go to one of their open mic jam session nights to see a variation of both experienced and learning performers. All drinks have a flat rate, 1000 yen for the first and 500 yen for every drink after that.

Great little jazz dive. We went on a jam night, and the talent of the amateur players were too notch. The owner got us seated although it was already standing room. Price was reasonable. Atmosphere was authentic, and the place just oozed great music with no pretense.

Exceeded my expectations! Planned to stay for 2 hours max but ended up there for more than 3 hours.. i didn’t really read much description of the place, so it turns out it’s sort of like a jamming session of many jazz musicians. The club is located in the basement, and when I arrived many people were sporadically lining, i thought they were guests but apparently they were the musicians! I came at 8 the place was alrady full, i could only stand behind the bar, but after nearly an hour, some of the seating guests left and i got a seat. None of the musicians disappoint! The guests were all also so friendly. A must visit place! You have to pay 1,000 for the first drink, but repeated drinks will be 500yen only (such as bargain, right?)

One of the coolest things I’ve done. I don’t play and instrument and I know next to nothing about jazz but the atmosphere and talent there was amazing. Also all drinks were 500 yen after the first drink of 1000 yen (admission fee). Definitely a tight space but that’s the charm, you are sitting/standing with the audience, musicians and the owner. Owner is super nice and you can tell that the place is run for musicians and everyone is having a great time. Would be my top recommendation for anyone looking for a night out in Tokyo.

A very intimate jazz setting with pure, local jazz. With 1000 yen first drink, and 500 yen drinks afterwards, it's hard to think of anywhere that could beat this nightlife atmosphere at those prices. Come early as it tends to fill up on weekends. 10/10 would recommend.

Super calm, super casual, wonderfully friendly staff that try very hard to engage even with limited English. When they are playing live music or playing records it’s a wonderful experience. Ps try the coffee it’s wonderful

1000y cover and 300y for whiskey (whiskey special night). The owner made everyone walking through his door feel welcome and relaxed and accommodated for as many people as he could in his tiny bar. Also he would spark up conversation whenever he could and he would also jam on his sax then and now. The artists were also very nice having conversations with patrons and genuinely having a blast on stage. AMAZING PLACE. A must for jazz lovers in Tokyo.

Highlight of our time in Tokyo. First drink Y1000 then a very reasonable Y500 after that. Blown away by the talented musicians who just turn up, sign up and jam with each other - even the barman/owner got his sax out! Intimate venue but space for everyone to fit in and talk to other guests. Totally recommend!

If you want a prime seat plan to arrive early. Bar is downstairs on your right hand side, the door is a bit heavy to push but will open! They do their best to accommodate people even if it looks busy! Excellent musicians and atmosphere. A must do!

  • 5/5 Hunt H. 3 months ago on Google • 5 reviews New
Wow. I don’t like jazz that much, but this blew me away. Only spent an hour and a half there, but undoubtedly the best hour an a half of my time in Tokyo. 1000 yen entry fee that includes a drink, then 500 yen drinks after is well worth the value for a night of intimate jazz. The venue only holds about 30 people and fills up within 30 mins of starting so get in quick. Well worth going if you have any interest or love in music. Atmosphere is fun and cozy, and allows for chatter amongst guests. Would rate 10/5 if possible. Can see why it has a 4.9 rating.

Me and my gf is a huge fan of jazz, so one of the main purposes of visiting japan was finding a splendid jazz bar. And Intro made our goals perfectly achieved. I can dare to say that it is one of the best jazz bar in the world. Highly recommended!

A small cozy place that you can enjoy the live jazz music. The owner also played the sax, he was amazing. I don't know how the system works, but the owner asked me if I want to play when I order a drink lol guess anyone can volunteer to play. The place was super packed, but full of people who are genuinely enjoying the music. Loved the vibe and energy. It was definitely the highlight of my trip in Tokyo. Will certainly visit again.

Fantastic jazz venue in central Tokyo. Small, intimate venue where everyone seems to know one another which creates a fantastic ambience. However, we never felt out of place because everyone was so friendly! The owner was also lovely and the music itself was performed excellently. Highly recommend if you're in Tokyo and looking for a fantastic (and very affordable) evening.

🎹 🎺 🥁 Amazing live jazz bar with a fun bunch of folks! Over half the people there performed on stage, good vibes all around! The Oolong whiskey drink was delicious.

Very small jazz bar in the basement of a building. Came here on a Friday night during their jam sessions. The place gets great acoustics. For a small fee, (1,000 yen), you can listen to musicians improvising jazz for hours. It’s clear that the people here have a deep love for jazz and music in general. It seemed like everyone was a musician. Highly recommend for those craving jazz music. Drinks and snacks are very inexpensive (500 yen).

Very cosy place. Went there and it was filled with aspiring musicians taking turns to jam. Just put up your name and they will arrange a turn for you to play. 1000 yen buys you entry and a drink with subsequent drinks at 500 yen. Recommended.

This place was SWANGIN'!!! In all seriousness, I had a wonderful time. The owner made me feel very welcome. The jam session rotated out almost all musicians after every song change, which gave everyone (including me) more playing time than I expected. The drinks were good; I'd recommend the delicious ginger beer with ergonomic grip. The crowd was about 80/20% musicians/spectators, so it has a real communal feel. You can tell that people come here all the time, including locals. All these positives outweigh the fact that my clothes now smell like cigarette smoke. And they're open until 5am?! We almost stayed the whole time.

If you're a tourist, please be respectful! That was the only downside of this charming venue. The owner is so nice and welcoming, and there's some incredible talent here. Entry charge is 1000 which includes a drink. Small space and not very accessible - down a flight of stairs, and also a tight fit in between tables. Non-alcoholic options are oolong tea, juice, or water.

Surreal open mic jazz in Tokyo. The owner bartends, plays, and coordinates who plays next. If you like jazz, this is a must stop. Raises the bar on what a 5 star reviewed place should be, in my book.

I know nothing about music and was apprehensive coming here on a rec, knowing no Japanese. The owner is super friendly and welcoming (and even plays every now and then!), the atmosphere is super laid back and fun, and the drinks are cheap. 1000 entry with first drink and 500 for each drink after. Definitely come by!

  • 3/5 Julian N. 4 years ago on Google
Intimate basement bar, short walk from Takadanobaba Station, OK if you just want to listen to some live music. I would say some of the musicians could do with loosening up a little and enjoying themselves, not a fun place with musicians that enjoy what they do but more a business. it's standard American jazz performed . Very good for instrumentalists as you can take an Instrument to play, perform and jam there. It's 1000 yen entance fee, includes first drink.
