I always had a great experience training at Gold’s Gym around the world & actually looked forward to training at Gold’s Gym in Tokyo. However, I was taken a back on my visit here today by an absurd ruling that you can’t have tattoos bigger than 15 X 15cm; even if you COVER IT UP & NOT LET IT BE SHOWN, it’s still NOT allowed. I understand the relationship of Japanese culture & tattoos but not denying you entry despite you covering up your tattoo is just ridiculous. So please do not WASTE your time going to Gold’s Gym in Tokyo if you have a tattoo. They will deny you entry even if you have it covered up 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Very spacious and good facilities The receptionist is unfriendly, the instructions are poor, and only experienced users can use it, so it's not suitable for beginners. The locker room and everywhere else was dirty. There's a lot of dust and hair, and no one seems to be cleaning it frequently.

FOREIGNERS READ: -you must take passport with you -you must wear "indoor" shoes while in the gym, so either have some that have only been worn indoors, or hire some when you get there -expect to pay outrageous 4000yen for single pass including a towel, drink and indoor shoe hire The gym itself is good because it has lots of equipment. But the cost is outrageous On the way out i returned the rental shoes and she forgot to give me my passport so i had to go back and get it.

The machines are ready. It's crowded during certain hours on weekends, but if you go outside of those hours, you can do your favorite training with almost no waiting time. On days when the weather is nice, you can use the outdoor stretching area and enjoy the view from Harajuku to Roppongi. The treadmill area offers a panoramic view of Shinjuku subcenter, and you can train in a refreshing mood. On the other hand, please note that most machines are only available one at a time, so if someone occupies the machine for a long time, you may have to wait forever.

Worst Gold gym outlet i been in japan. I got the one day pass but they made me register some online application in kanji and had to translate everything, it took half an hour. Even have to take photo of you and make a unique member card just for a day pass. Staff doesnt even bother to communicate with you even when you are polite. This is the only outlet in japan that have rude staffs. Other outlets would only make you sign a piece of paper that has rules on it. The gym is always very packed and equipments are tightly spaced. I left the gym mid workout. Its hard to complete a workout.

Imagine that there is no one who knows English here !! It's an astronomical franchise gym !! It's really funny. The service staff was really unethical and ruined the fitness reputation. Why do you work here without knowing English? I went to Gold's gym in another country. There had never been such a rude problem at that time. Of course, the person who came to register was really disappointed and could not register. Reception sooo sooo rude!!!!!!

Amazing gym. Amazing staff. Please note the following: Bring your passport with you. (I always take mine everywhere I go so this wasn’t an issue for me.) No talking allowed and you must wear masks here. (We’re at a gym, workout. It’s fine not to talk. It’s their rules to wear a mask. Don’t complain. You’re cringe if you are complaining.) Bring inside shoes. (I did not bring inside shoes, you can rent a pair but it’s expensive. I went and just bought a pair of shoes that I will only wear in the gym to keep clean. Easy.) The staff does not speak English really. (This one really got me. I’m seeing reviews of OUTRAGED people being upset that a Japanese staff in Japan doesn’t speak English? How entitled are you? Learn Japanese? Lol it doesn’t matter if other countries spoke more English. You’re cringe if you complain about this. Get over yourself) TLDR: staff and gym 5/5. Will come again and again every time I’m in Tokyo. Bring passport, outdoor shoes, mask and be respectful. Have a good workout!

Not too sure what all the fuss is about. Register online, get a free 7 day trial, show the girls at reception and they give you your 7 day pass. Sure, it’s an expensive gym per visit if you’re paying but it’s also Golds Gym. It’s an extremely well equipped gym, with a lot of great equipment, wide range of bars, handles and various machines with slightly different degree of angles to hit a wide range of muscles. A gorgeous little outdoor area with fake grass and boxes to run and do some callisthenics if you want or some yoga / stretching in the sun. Honestly, as a foreigner this gym is as good if not better then some gyms we have in Australia. Japan has a small market for gym enthusiasts, you only have to spend a day here to see that. Killer gym, good little supplement store, you can buy apparel, bags, belts etc.. The gym also has a wide section up stairs where you can borrow power lifting belts. Honestly, an amazing gym. Forget what the other idiots are saying. There is some quirky things like no shoes in the change rooms, having to have ‘indoor only shoes’ (I just packed a second pair of converse in my bag which are my usual gym shoes but I do wear them outside and it wasn’t an issue, I think so long as you have a second pair if anyone asks) and the building that has the Golds Gym advertisement on it is just that. The gym is actually across the road in the Cocoti building on Level 9. The elevator there is also confusing but you’ll figure it out, haha! ???

Staff doesn't speak good English. No Protein Shakes 20 minutes before closing. Devices are good. Maybe a little bit old,but very effectively. I think there are better studios for tourists for that money.

As per other reviews, very unfriendly. A place where experienced people can come and go as they please. The training area and lounge are really nice. The locker room was poorly designed and difficult to use. Although there are nearly 90 lockers, the toilet only has two urinals and one toilet. Moreover, you cannot use the locker while the person next to you is using it. Please get rid of the aromatherapy bedrock bath (lol) that no one uses and make the locker room larger.

Difficult to process your application if you do not know Japanese. Took me 2 hours to get my stuff settled. Staff attended to me left and another one who knew nuts about the application came in and I left on a unhappy note without knowing what’s inside the gym.

The shower room is disgusting. It smells of ammonia and makes me gag. There's mold all over the ceiling and walls and no ventilation. Make sure if you're coming for the first time to bring your passport and a 2nd set of shoes or you'll need to pay $30 to rent shoes. Beautiful rooftop pool but you're not allowed to use it. Nice location with decent machines and weight options. I don't speak Japanese but the front desk staff were very nice and helpful.

Foreigners: typical Japanese rules but if you have a tattoo bigger than 15cm by 15cm you must be a Yakuza (mafia). So even if you aren’t Japanese and it’s impossible for you to be a Yakuza member you are still SOL. Rules are king here and they do not make logical adjustments in Japan.

(Translated by Google) It is a comparison with the South. First of all, I feel far away from the station. The night view while using the treadmill has a feeling of openness, and those who like the night view may be good. However, the reception is separated from the 9th floor, the 10th floor of the studio, and the 11th floor of the training area, so it is a little troublesome to move. The size of the changing room and the number of lockers and dressing tables are wonderful, but I was surprised that the bottom of the locker was full of dust. Although it is a stretch area, I am worried that there is no stretch mat as it is in the center of Ginza. As for the trainer, only one person was not very good.

Tried to get a 7-day or one momth pass. Basically they've suspended new entrants until end of August. A bit rude at the counter, no room for any other options. Cant believe I walked through the heat with all my stuff for that kind of treatment! Reputation isn't good for a reason...

Has very big windows and great sunlight very good for morning workouts. Evenings are way too crowded, do not even bother. Equipment is sufficient but aging rapidly. Would be nice to see upgrades on the wear and tear on the benches. A few added notes: - tattoos: this isn’t their policy, but more of the Japanese government and they have to comply. Want to blame? Blame the policy makers. - indoor shoes in lockers: dunno what the fuss is about. It’s pretty unhygienic if you think about wearing outdoor shoes to where you get barefooted. - gym shoes: pretty standard stuff.

Very outdated in terms of service and rules. Have to fill out endless forms to sign up. Not flexible to put the membership on hold if I’m out of the country for a bit. They noticed a small tattoo on a guy peeking out of the tshirt and kicked him out as tattoos are strictly prohibited. Also no talking allowed. The location is great and the view is beautiful though :) Oh yeah taking pictures of the view is also strictly prohibited haha

This gym has so many rules, that it almost felt like being back in boot-camp. The cost is too high, too many machines cramped up, little space for floor exercises, must take shoes off in numerous areas, crowded, smells a bit... not at all what i was expecting. In fact i was disappointed. Will not return.

I'm inexperienced at the gym. I came here because I wanted to try it out because I can use it whenever I want as part of my company's welfare program. Each time the user was not treated as a customer, the instructions were insufficient, and when I asked if they could be taught how to use the machine after paying the fee, I was told that there was a beginner's course. In the end, I just took a tour that day and went home. It's my fault for not telling them properly, but I don't think they care whether the other person has experience or not...I wish they would have told me first if there was a beginner's course. Well, after all, I'm a poor person who can only use it on an as-needed basis, so I can't help but be treated poorly...

Positives: - I like the selection of classes here (Zumba, Hiphop) - Personal trainers are nice and helpful. Negatives: - Many of the front desk staff are unfriendly and unhappy. They should give off a more positive energy! - Gets too crowded and stinky in the gym area on weekday evenings. Harajuku is better for this reason.

Students coming in groups? It's noisy and has bad manners. Normally, if a group uses more than 2 sets of dumbbells, they'll warn you, but this gym doesn't treat customers equally. Advisor? It would be much better for people like you to just go to Harajuku without saying anything.

Went to the gym today around 12, very friendly and kind staff that spoke clear English. The gym has just about every piece of equipment you would need to train. Only issue was that I signed up for a 7 day free trial on the website apparently that Is not a thing. Just be wary if you use the Website you will not get a free trial (not sure why its an option online.) Will definitely return with my friends when they come to visit me in Tokyo.

I have been asked to leave the gym because someone spotted a tattoo in my arm (a small 4 word tattoo) even though I told them I could cover that tattoo with long sleeve clothes (and one in my leg wearing trousers) so nobody would be “disturbed” anymore, they didn’t give me a chance and told me to leave. Their tattoo policy is very strange, since when a tattoo that is covered is of anyone’s concern? Also why would someone be denied to go to a gym when their tattoos are covered? Those where the points I raised but they couldn’t come up with any arguments, except the “that’s the gym’s rule” The receptionist was particularly rude and unfriendly from the moment I stepped in to the moment I went out, even though I tried my best to communicate in Japanese using the translator. This is a very strange policy coming from such a big gym-chain, and this one in particular which is located at the heart of ultra modern Shibuya, where many foreigners come and go. Gold’s Gym Shibuya you might want to modernize and review these tattoo discriminatory policies!

Really Rude staff and really strict rules. Plus that they didn’t allow outside shoes and forced you to rent their shoes. Also very very expensive almost 30 dollars per person for a one day pass. They also don’t allow you to use phone or talk to other people in locker room. It was also really crowded and bad equipment. Also the staff don’t know English and probably hate foreigners so if your a foreigner don’t go here. You probably shouldn’t go here period.
