MAKOLA SHOPPING MALL 🏬 This is one of Accra’s busiest market place. In the mall you’d find different shops with different items ranging from home, office, whatever the occasion equipments and items and the good part is most of these shop items are wholesaled. Most online business make their purchases from here and sell them online to those who can’t make it to town. The busiest of days here are WEDNESDAY and SATURDAYS but everyday is a busy day here except Sundays.

Came here to see how it compares against the Mekato in Addis Ababa that I visited 7 years ago. The place definitely has hustle and bustle. Lots of shops, densely packed selling assorted goods. However, it appeared most shops sold the same goods, i.e., printed cloth, costume jewelry, beauty supplies. Thus, Mekato has more variety than Makola. The street food scene was also minimal and I didn't see any sit-down restaurants in the immediate area. 4 stars for the action and feast for the eyes.

Fresh Produce, Shea Butter, and Black Soap. Don’t be shy. Negotiate your preferred price. Wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared to walk for miles. Be safe. Place your phone and belongings close to your body. Walkways are narrow and losing something may not be easy to retrieve.

Wholesale prices you cannot imagine so low. Ask them for good quality stuff rather than cheaper ones. Difference is little.

The old land mark of the greater Accra that is still in existence, this place is located at makola inside Accra central where you can get anything to purchase,, yeah,, but the human traffic is more than the cars ,, !! Very busy everyday,

Must visit market in Ghana. The market is super packed. If you’re not the type who likes crowded environment pls take caution. Don’t go about taking pictures anyhow. Always buy something from them before taking a picture.

Unbelievably crowded. It's like a giant maze of twists, turns, and people bumping into you, stepping on your toes and not apologizing for it. It's stimulation overload. The parking garage is jammed with cars blocking one another in. It's more or less like organized car parking to the attendants.

Makola Shopping Mall is notably one of the most visited shopping centre in Ghana. The advantage of the Makola Shopping mall is the several mini businesses surrounding this famous local mall. It is a one-stop centre for any product you would need. You can find a wide range of products and services for your household, business, organization etc. Products such as foodstuff, electronics, furniture, fashion, cosmetics, herbs, local food joints, hairsaloons etc Want it? You will find it at the famous Makola Shopping Mall. Finding products can be very stressful, but one of the simplest way is by asking a hawker or food vendor by the road and they will gladly assist you. I prefer to call them the Makola Google Map. Lol I would rate Makola a 10star if possible. Lol cheers. Keep following as I share my experiences and knowledge on various locations I visit.

A historical market always busy with human traffic. Good parking garage with flat rate of Ghs 8.000. But hey trust me, you'll get whatever you're looking for. There's nothing like COVID-19 protocol, just put onn your 😷 and visit.

Different shops with both wholesale and retail prices. I like the new makola mall because unlike the open market that is much more crowded the mall has shades and you can move more freely into shops to look for what you want. Less stressful than the open market

A wonderful experience. African wax prints are sold at reduced and affordable prices there. Anything durable one could ever think of can be found there at relatively cheaper prices. Sellers have patience for their buyers. Purchases can be made in a wholesale or retail. Respectful porters are also available to help transport bought goods to the car parks or bus station. No queuing no stress. Such a nice and loving business moment...

Christmas busy shopping is ongoing, the crowd is thicker than usual, the traffic is heavy and car parks are scarce as people have parked along the road to shop. The good thing is there are Police personnel all over than place to ensure smooth movement of both vehicles and human traffic and also to ensure law and order.

A very busy market, if you search properly you find what you want. It's in the center of the city, therefore with heavy traffic both human and vehicles. There Banks, forex bureau, insurance companies, clinic, retail and wholesale shops, shopping malls, city car parks, public restroom, restaurants, fresh vegetables and food crops vendors. The most exciting part is you get Transportation to anywhere you are going.

You have never truly experienced Accra if you have not been here. This is where the real hustle and bustle goes on. I visited on a Friday and everywhere was choked. If you are not familiar with the area, it's very easy for you to get lost. Thankful, Google maps can help you but make sure to activate the offline version for easy GPS navigation as the network is not too stable here.

This place is quite a marketing web though. They sell all forms of goods from books, clothes, jewelry and the like. A number of people find items at moderate prices for resale. You only need to find your way around to locate those numerous moderate shops. Numerous shop aids might spot you along the entrance and entice you to visit their shop for your need. Although these may be helpful, you could also take the liberty to explore on your own.

The human and vehicular traffic is too much. And the traders evading the pavements makes it difficult to move freely

It's a place for shopping for all kinds of goods and other stuffs. A busy market in the centre of Accra Ghana. A place to shop for shoes, clothed, bags, cosmetics accessories, under wear, etc.

  • 4/5 gloria d. 2 years ago on Google
Products, if not all, ever produced in the world can be found here. Products can be found in shops (both high and low ends), makeshift structures etc. in both retail and wholesale. Everything tech, books, groceries, luxury items (clothing, fabrics, shoes, cosmetics, services etc.etc) just anything 😊 N.B its gets really uncomfortable shopping making your way through heavy human and vehicular traffic

  • 4/5 nana n. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing range of items at cut-throat prices. You will be surprised at the number of shops in there and even more amazed with the volume of items on sale. You want a wholesale or Retail plug for most items, then this is your best bet. Some portions on the lower floor is disabled friendly and decent places of convenience are quite difficult to come by. Be very polite to the head porters popularly called kayayo' and they may just help you carry your load around at a fair price. Don't forget to bargain hard or you may just part with much more than your sale is worth

Makola Market is a GREAT place to shop. BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. Endless Variety of items. It is very crowded and a beautiful depiction of organized confusion. Fetch a deal on shoes, clothes, audio equipment, cosmetics, local beverages, iphone cases, African fabrics, etc, etc. Bring cedis.

We All knew makola shopping mall is also one of the biggest shopping hub in Accra. The capital of Ghana. But the place is too crowded. Although they have a lot of shopping artefact but I had a minor problem with the governor to provide a lot of space for the workers and covid 19 protocol should be valid. Thank very much.

  • 4/5 Tricia A. 2 years ago on Google
You can find almost everything you want here, from jewellery,to clothing and bags. It's crowded here though so be alert and take good care of your valuables.

  • 3/5 Monalisa L. 2 years ago on Google
Makola shopping Mall is loaded with stuff ranging from Fabrics,to household goods, fashion accessories to foodstuff, beads and what have you?. The place is usually choked with human traffic. There is an underground parking and the mall also hosts hair dressing salons, eateries and boutiques. Unfortunately the rest rooms are not well kept and there is no place for shoppers to rest when tired. The whole place, in fact every space has been taken over by traders. It is even difficult to use some of the corridors meant for pedestrians because the traders have exhibited their wares there. Its such a stressful experience if you want to buy from the mall.

It's a good place to shop all sorts of goods and items - food, household, hair and beauty+Shea butter, black soap, etc, plaque jewellery, Ankara, wares - you name it. The place is very crowded and shops and in no particular order.

  • 4/5 saudey k. 2 years ago on Google
The mall is huge and neat, you can basically find everything you are searching for. You do have to be careful of those third party people on the streets within and around the mall that try to usher you elsewhere and give you better deals on item, some are genuine and some will take advantage of you.

Makola Market place ain't for the faint hearted, but if you love the thought of being in the midst of a real Ghanaian market come. So lively, with everything from clothes, food, accessories and household items.

  • 5/5 Harry C. 2 years ago on Google
Everyone in Ghana knows that the Makola shopping Mall is one of the most versatile and busiest markets in Accra and probably Ghana. The mall is situated as it's name close to the Rawling park in Accra. Over the years it has been the place mothers often run to for affordable household items like food, school items, cookware, clothes and general goods and services. I can remember as a child when my parents would take my siblings and I to Makola for our Christmas clothes, toys and treats(Piccadilly biscuits). Now we can see major improvements at the location. The mall has several stores that sell a wide range of goods and services. For a bride to be, the shopping Mall should be the first on your list to visit when looking for your bridal clothes and accessories. What's more, each floor is connected with wide staircases and elevators to make your movements easy and quick and we can't forget about the parking places. They have a basement carpark and 2 other parkings on the 3rd and 4th floors(I stand to be corrected on this) the parking charge now stands at GHC 8.00 which is a little steep for me but I can understand a little since they provide security. I cannot speak on washrooms because I haven't inquired myself but I'm sure there should be a provision. As I mentioned earlier, they have several stores but you still cannot find everything you will need there so most people visit surrounding stores and vendors and sometimes hawkers for their shopping needs. If you must visit the area be ready for the overcrowding of people and vehicles among other thing. I especially feel that the sun shines the hottest ( yes, that's exactly what I said) when I visit the area and I sweat profusely and have been close to dehydration a time or 2 so don't forget to go with a bottle of water but if you don't, worry not yourself there are water hawkers everywhere. I hope you find everything you are looking for when you visit. Just be ready to do a lot of walking and shoving 😊.

Accra will always be Accra. I say this because of the pattern kind of experience we get when new structures are put up and our attitude towards mentainace. It was beautiful and well kept until the negativity sets in. Urinal is no good and wouldn't advice anyone to sit on the seats. Love the whole sale and retail shops. Prices on some goods are off the roof. It wasn't such a good neither bad experience. It was Just okay!

I love that there's a car park. No need hustling and struggling to park. Well secure and safe car park. The stall numbering is not all that visible making locating your destination a bit cumbersome Lift also works making it convenient to carry heavy packages to the car park.

It's a busy place where you can get a variety of goods at a reasonable price. Parking area for cars is available on 5 large floors and quite safe with security men on duty on every floor. You have to pay before you can park. Elevator is also manned and works well. Washrooms are quite neat and you can use them after paying something small.

Shopping in Makola is an extreme adventure but I love it. The unbearable heat and overpopulated streets make for a wonderful shopping experience. Come here and you will love it also!!!

  • 3/5 Anna A. 1 year ago on Google
Lots of goods...you just have to visit quite a number of shops to ascertain price. Also you might want to visit a few number of shops to give you the options to choose from before buying.

  • 4/5 Teresa K. 1 year ago on Google
When I was a kid in the 90s I hated going here. Mostly because of the slaughtering of the animal that covered the sidewalks in blood. Well it has definitely changed and you can buy anything and everything here. It not a busy as it used to be which is great and much more organized. Basically anything you find in the stores such as max mart, palace they pretty much buy from them

  • 3/5 Sea Elsa (Sima E. 1 year ago on Google
It's a one stop shop for all your beauty and cosmetic needs. Items include mostly jewellery including beads, hair and clothing. There are hundreds of shops at the Mall. Customer service is nonexistent at some shops. Prices are fixed by use; whether for personal or retail use.

  • 5/5 Taj T. 1 year ago on Google
From toothpicks to tires! Be patient and give it more than one try, you will be frustratedthe first time. The best prices are here. Had a few vendors try to take advantage of me as a foreigner with obviously high prices but this is EXTREMELY rare.

It is crowded. It is noisy. Very congested with cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses and pedestrians competing for every available space. It is Makola, love it or don't go near the place.

  • 5/5 Keziah S. 1 year ago on Google
Can find literally everything here if you're willing to walk and put in some work. Not easy to find stalls but stalls have number so try and follow that. Also ask the vendors, they know where everything is

Makola is a very busy market, and very big as well you can shop almost every thing here at the market, although most times things can be hard to find, but you can always ask around. And also need to walk smartly with your belongings, if not you will be left alone and your belongings will be gone😀😜, sadly friends have experienced this. So good shopping famz😉😘

Clean mall. Good toilet. Well organized. I like the structure. The sellers I met there were very polite and welcoming. We had a lot of talks there. I even made a friend there. It's an awesome mall.

  • 4/5 TAUFIQ O. 10 months ago on Google
Just like any shopping mall there are many shops ,the shops are located mostly on the ground and first floor. It's a 5 storey building , located at Makola. You don't need to worry about a parking lot cause they have a big parking lot located on the ground floor, 4th and 3rd floors. The making lot is not FREE. The last time I went there it was Gh¢10.

The economy is hard but buying at MAKOLA with its low prices makes things a bit easier. If I need to buy haircare stuff, pomade, soap, sneakers, dresses, and trousers, I visit this place. A great place to do your shopping.

Items are less costly. All you need to do is walk. I mean walllllllk to get whatever you need. If there's any way one can easily be helped to locate items and their lane/shops, it will help a lot, especially to first-time visitors.
