Well, the directions to this places is not correct. We go into botanical Garden and you should go all the way up, at the end there is a gate, it might seem that there is no way but there is. So search for it and once you cross it there is the village. There were few kids, as we did not find the way we asked them, and they told us the way, but wanted some change or chocolate😂😂. So we gave them some but those kids were like not letting us get near the temple I mean not even close to it. They were shouting it's wrong and outsiders should not go near, so we did not get close to it. Still this place has a lot of history the one we see there is the smallest temple and seems like there is another temple in the woods which is the bigger one. Finding this place is really tough. We spent atleast an hour to find this.

oda Temple is a temple that is built in the shape of a hut. Though it is smaller in size, it reflects the glimpse of the Dravidian style of architecture Only the males of this community are allowed to conduct the rituals inside the temple. All temple walls carry the paintings of the buffalo, the sun god, and moon god Toda Temple is a sacred site for tribals and a tourist attraction for many. Thus, it is visited by tourists throughout the year.

Toda people are a small tribal community in Niligiris . They live in small Huts called Todas Hamlets. Toda's temples are constructed in a circular pit lined with stones and are quite similar to Toda’s huts. Todas consider buffaloes as sacred. Symbol of buffalo head is sculpted out in front of all their temples as you see in this picture.

One of the most attractive and unique sightseeing places in Ooty are the Toda Huts. These are the residing place for the Toda people, one of the indigenous tribes of Ooty. The huts are made in the shape of a semi-barrel. These huts don’t have any windows and very low doors where one has to stoop and enter. While once you are inside the hut there is space to stand as well. This close-knit community of Toda people mostly depend on cattle herding and farming for living.

Inside botanical garden you can see Toda temple. It's a model of the temple. Actual Toda temple is at top of the botanical garden outside. This temple build inside a stone wall circle. Front of the temple build with wall and also can see the drawings on the frontside of the temple. You can also see big rounded rocks over there. The door of the temple is very small.

An amazing place, Calm and quiet. An beautiful ancient type temple. Which is very attractive. I was very impressed with its built in. Finding this place was a tough call. In Google Maps, showing road may lead to you a wrong way. The Toda Temple is actually outside of Botanical Garden, but the entry is through botanical garden top side. There is another road available. I didn't use it, so not sure about the entry

Nice place nestled admist nature's bounty. Scenic and quiet place with undulating meadows. Toda Temple of the community is there. One can see from outside, entry not permitted. It's far-off from main stream, so you must plan only if you have time.

It's a good place we can find real thoda people living there on the top small hills, however the old thoda huts are now not in use, but we can still find those huts which are now built in concrete for the tourists to know how it looks, when you climb a little you can find the thoda temple which is quite old and made up of wood. We are not allowed inside the temple and we are instructed to leave our slipper near the tree below the temple as Toda still considers the temple and the hill surrounding as a sacred place. There are three temples in total out of which the first temple is the biggest and looks really good.

Expectation was more than reality. What remains now is 2-3 Toda huts/temple which one cant even enter. Not receommended if you are visiting Ooty for 2-3 days. If you are staying longer , then you can visit this place.

It was definitely something that is never seen before. Amazing as it looks, we were told that it was created by panch pandav. It was a temple indeed but there were no idol inside. Also, this is not seperately located. We had to visit botanical garden to see this. Its at the top level of botanical garden. To see this, it wont be possible to go with children or elders as it takes quite mucj effort to reach the top level.

Must visit. Has thousand of years history. Some of the tribal people still live there and its a small trek from Botanical garden ooty. This temple has its own significance. People worship their god and they don’t allow to enter. But the people are too good. Do visit here if you are in ooty.

You are not allowed to enter it. But yes if you love to explore people's traditions it's good.
