Adam's fountain is a public display fountain in Charring cross, Ooty. It was built in 1886 as a memorial to a Governor of Ooty,who was very famous in the region during his tenure.The total cost of finishing the fountain was between Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 14000, which was funded through public funding. The fountain was originally planned to be placed near the Ooty market. But it was decided later that the site in front of the District collector's office in Ooty was a better place as it had higher number of passers by. After building the fountain, it was discovered that the site did not have the necessary water head for the fountain to function properly. It was finally moved to its present location in Charring cross in 1898. An old melanoxylon tree which stood in the site of the present location of the fountain, which was considered as a landmark in Charring cross was removed for the construction of the fountain.

This is the marketplace in Ooty and almost all the markets are available in here. you can find all type of food here there are many many restaurants and also the hotels available. Normal price for the room is 4000 to 6000 the main problem here we cannot park your car but there are 23 food parking is available. I pay parking for over ₹30, this is the main circle for Ooty. And also you can visit almost all picnic area from here. Botanical garden is very near to this place and there is also a local market you can find all type of fruits vegetables.

View is nice both morning and night . You have many shop and restaurant near by . Nice place for night walk .

Ooty, what to say good about the town? Except to say thank god it exists as it keeps the marauding hoards away from the beautiful Nilgiris. The administration for the past five decades have been clueless in what to do except look the other way and make stupid decisions. Adams fountain is at Charing Cross, look at old photos and you'll see gardens and space, look now and you'll see disorder and filth.

Good Landmark for Ooty charring cross. From this place one side goes to Commercial Street, another side goes to the Doddabetta peak and other side go to Coimbatore road, etc. You'll find lot of shops and restaurants and many here.

Nice place. Many options for food lovers. Just remember, its difficult to find conveyance after 10 pm

In the evening it was lit up and looked charming. It seems to be the center of Ooty where many roads meet. The area is full of shops. It is a busy place where one can spend some time shopping and eating.

It was nice but, could do better, the surrounding was not clean, and seems like its just a norm road
