    Great historical stop along the original alignment of the National Road. Town of Addison is small and peaceful. Also check out the wooden statues across the street.

    This short detour from the main road of Route 40 will take you back to the highway's 19th century purpose.

    This is the third that I've seen on Rte 40. This one is cool because for a $5 donation you can tour the inside.

    This is a neat little old toll house off the beaten path of route 40 as the road was moved when the new road was built. It's very well maintained and very interesting.

    An important historical icon. Stopped there every time I followed the nat'l Rd. Also a chance to drive on a length of road from the early days.
