I'm so sad that I can't give 5 stars just for the nurse's and doctors, and the kitchen/domestic staff as they all deserve 5. I have been so incredibly well looked after during the last 5 years with an ongoing health issue. Unfortunately it's the management side that has really let me down. Im on a situation that i need to have Iv antibiotics frequently but because it takes the bed away from a surgical patient um no longer allowed to be admitted. Surgical patients make more money. My health issues are serious and have no great quality of life.because of my combined problems, my infections can turn septic as my immune system isint great. So to be refused admission is a bit of an issue! Especially when the public hospital system is on overload. So needless to say I'm in a no win situation and have no real quality of life. I honestly thought this was why I pay for private health insurance. So thanks again to the management side of Calvary for caring sooo much....a few months later and they STILL won't admit me

This rating is based on comparing the Calvary North Adelaide with the Calvary Central Adelaide only. I had similar surgery in both hospitals this year. First one was in the city and that was a very good experience. Everything was sorted from the start to the end, Much newer building and updated equipment and I left the hospital at the same day. Next surgery was a week ago in Calvary North and management issues started at the door. My name wasn't in the list at the front desk so they sent me to the wrong section. Then I went to the main reception and my name was there. Half an our later someone took me to a share room to be prepared (doing the paperwork). After 1hr waiting in the room I went to the main desk and asked if they know that I am wait for them or no! They said don't worry just wait in the room. 20 minutes later they came and sorted the paperwork. After the surgery I went to a private room which was old but very clean and I had to stay overnight perhaps because it was too late to be discharged or some other reasons. Old and noisy aircon was the worst part of that night and covering the holes in bathroom wall lining with medical tape was the funny part. I do not have the experience of using other hospitals but for sure I will try somewhere else next time. If you have a choice between Calvary North and Calvary Central forget the Calvary North

Not great. I just had a short day surgery at this hospital. I had never been there before. The man at the greeting desk was quite bad at giving directions for me. I had no idea I had to leave the hospital via back doors and go back outside into the separate day procedure building. Please have very big, clear signage. My admission time was 7am. I arrived on the dot. The ladies at the desk there ask for your name, highlight it on a list then tell you to the a seat and they will call you back up to do the paperwork. I sat there for about 50 minutes, watching other people arrive, sit, and get called back up before I decided to get up and say something. My name was obviously forgotten at the very top of the list. ***this is a TERRIBLE* system and you need to change it. Patients will get missed. I was concerned that my surgeon thought I was late for her first surgery of the day. What is the point of a 7am admission time?? When the lady at the desk went through my forms, she said "this is is to confirm this is not part of a 3rd party claim". I signed it. Then the next form she says "this is to confirm this is not part of a third party claim" . I told her that she had just told me the previous form was for that and she said "no, that one was to confirm you did your e-admission online". Just acknowledge that you explained the wrong thing! Make a joke out of it! But nope. Just made me feel like *I* had made a mistake. She had brown frizzy, curly hair and glasses. She is not competent in that role. The whole process was incredibly rushed, but probably because she forgot to call me up. Aside from the abysmal admission process, my surgeon is beautiful and had no issues with the aftercare.

This place is a joke. The only people here I would give stars for are the actual nursing staff who work with you. They get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. As for the rest of it if it wasn’t patients wellbeing on the line it would make a great comedy movie. Everything that could be stuffed up was stuffed up and one resulting in an extra 2 nights stay in hospital. This being my 3rd admission here I guarantee I won’t be coming back by choice ever again.

My wife gave birth to our baby in early June 2023, led by the superb Dr. Carmel Cocchiaro and her team. This review is solely based on our experiences in the Maternity ward over a 5-day stay. Once you enter the hospital from the reception, turn left and walk around 100m to get to elevators that will get you maternity ward on Level 2. The elevators at the reception won't take you there (if you get admitted around 3 am, there might not be anyone around to ask for directions). If you are a first-time parent, the midwives are extremely helpful and will guide you every step of the way. They understand that having a baby is a daunting task and is on call 24/7 to help you out. You just need to press the button in the room to get their help. Since they change every 8 hours, you get exposed to many midwives, and you can learn different tricks and tips from each one of them. Huge thanks to Emily, Hannah, Dee, and all others whom I can't remember the name of. You might encounter a midwife in a bad mood, but that's just a rare occurrence that you can ignore and give them a chance. In short, midwives will be guardian angels for the baby and mum. The rooms are comfortable and the partner will get a foldable bed/couch. Regarding the food, you can select from the menu, what you want for the next day. In my view, the food was good, maybe it might not be a five-star hotel, but the variety and quantity are more than sufficient. Vegetarian/Vegan options available. If necessary you can request bottle water to be delivered to the room. In Summary, I would recommend anyone with private health care to evaluate Calvary as an option for having a baby.

The first nurse that served me wasn’t very nice. She asked some questions and she head off and didn’t return. Very disorganised service. She left me in the cold and told me get yourself changed to that gown and didn’t return. Probably I’m a person of colour and that’s why she treated me like that. I paid my way through with $750 insurance excess snd that will psy her. Very rude nurse and makes me feel that’ll be the last to go back to that private hospital called Calvary North Adelaide hospital. Service is exactly the same as in public hospitals. Some public hospitals probably better than Calvary North Adelaide hospital. When you pay good health insurance cover you expect good service but it’s the opposite at North Adelaide Calvary hospital. You have to wait for hours. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone

I had an endoscopy here recently and I was a little nervous when I went in. But the nurses were amazing and supportive throughout. When I woke up from my procedure I was greeted with smiles and humour. As I was about to be discharged a lovely nurse sat with me for a chat about what was next for me. It was genuine and lovely. I did experience the same confusion upon entering the hospital, the lady at security gave rushed, incorrect directions but there is enough signage to get around. And the admissions system is a bit strange. You report to the day surgery desk and give your name and then sit down for 25 minutes until they call you. Surely the list of admissions for the day can be prepared in the morning or the day before? It seems like they don't get anything ready until you turn up. I went in for prep about 75 minutes after I arrived at the admissions desk

The attitude of senior staff towards the junior staff is terrible. Not a great place for entry level jobs. Feel bad for those young professionals. I was disgusted as a patient to see how the Team leader was treating a junior staff like a slave.

I came here for a day procedure with my son. I would give the staff 5 stars, they were so friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were okay with everything from the moment we got there to the moment we left. The only reason I gave 4 stars, is because the place is a confusing rabbit warren! I got lost almost straight away trying to find the day procedure unit. Who would have thought that you would need to go out of the building and then back in to access it. Better signage is needed, thankfully the friendly staff helped me to find my way! I would be happy to come here in the future if need be though, as our overall experience was very good.

Very rude and unprofessional staff. Rang the hospital to get information about a procedure that I was booked in. NONE OF MY QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED. Everything is rushed and didn't even let me finish a sentence. When I complained about the service I got the blame for being disrespectful to the staff. Very disappointing. Asking to respect the staff who disrespect and mislead their clients 😤

Worst hospital ever. If you are not short stay, long-term patients are pressured to discharge. The reason behind this is private health funds pay the hospital less if patients are there longer. This advice was given by staff. Money is the factor behind this treatment. The patients welfare is not taken into consideration. Avoid t

A big thank you to admin staff, orderlies and your volunteers for their hard work for being the golden thread that keep their teams together. Special shoutout to Susie and your domestic staff. Thank you for your kindness and dedication to the hospital. You are and will always be greatly appreciated.

Went in for a scan last week and the lady I didn’t get her name but she had long dark hair and eyelash extensions was unkind and unprofessional. I’m still upset about my experience a week later. I drank 1.3 litres of water one hour before this scan and she made me jump on the spot for 5 minutes and then didn’t let me use the toilet. Instead made me walk all the way to the waiting room and pay first before I could use the bathroom. Previous scan at 6 weeks I had a different lady and she was lovely, friendly and professional. But last weeks experience was extremely unpleasant.

Stayed post surgical procedure. Was an extremely upsetting experience. Wasn’t listened to by nursing staff despite begging them to check the post op wound + drain due to increasing pain levels and pressure on one side. Nurses did not appropriately assess, I was in high pain levels all night and now have an extremely swollen and bruised result because the wound drain was kinked. This was discovered by the surgeon about 1 minute into my post op review the next morning and she instantly fixed it providing instant relief however I had to go the whole night in extreme pain and discomfort before this, because of the negligence of the nursing staff not appropriately conducting assessments. This means I have higher pain levels that I should have and will impact my recovery because of the swelling and bruising that occurred due to inadequate drainage. My regular medication that I took in from home was lost during my admission, I was told that I would just have to re pay for these out of my own pocket even though the hospital had lost them, further exampling the negligent uncaring behaviour exhibited by staff. I still can’t comprehend this being given as the most appropriate response to the hospital losing a patients medication. I requested to speak to a TL or manager and was not enable to speak with these staff members to address my concerns, I requested this with reference to wanting my wound properly assessed, if this request was fulfilled this may have improved my outcome. Overall an extremely poor and distressing hospital stay largely because of nursing staff negligence including blatantly ignoring patient pain and concerns and not appropriately conducting post-operative assessments (including assessing wounds as well as vital signs). If you have a choice in hospital do not go here.

Admitted today for day surgery and from the start it has been terrible. I was rushed from the moment I got here. The care I received after was unacceptable, waiting for attention spaned over 15 minutes the nurse was under so much pressure, I would not recommend this hospital.

Had sholder surgery at the Calvary hospital 19/8/2022. I was very happy with the nursing staff with my overnight stay, have shoulder surgery. I was very impressed with one night shift nurse Bronny, one off the most.processional nurse ive come across in a long time. Nothing vas to much trouble for Bronny. The only complaint I have is with the rude young Indian woman at the entrance covid desk, this sort of rude uncaring behavior.should not be tolerated by patients or visitors as some patients can be very nervous to having surgery. Apart from her. Excellent nursing staff thankyou for so professional. Thanks again Brent

I enjoyed my brief stay here. It is a lovely hospital, has a coffee shop, and is surrounded with beautiful gardens. The staff were professional, attentive and friendly, and I felt very welcome. Everything to do with my stay went efficiently and without any complication. The meals were tasty and filling, and I enjoyed refreshing sleep. I went there to have cataract surgery and the care provided for this procedure was of a high standard. The hospital also has a Hospice which provides care for the terminally ill. Within the Hospice is a chapel and it contains beautiful stained glass windows. As the hospital was filled to capacity, a few of us were given rooms in the hospice. Apparently this is a common practice if there are rooms available. I was very impressed with my room which was spacious, had floating floorboard flooring, and slat covered sliding doors that opened out to a garden. I enjoyed the luxury of an airbed. a couch, a recliner and a fridge. It had a spacious ensuite bathroom. I guess most people don't think of hospice care or even talk of it, but I did consider that it would be a private and peaceful place to come to, if it was required.

Came in for a endoscopy and colonoscopy yesterday and what a great experience I had, from the moment I walked in every staff member, nurse and doctor that spoke to me was polite, very helpful and always had a big smile to offer all the way till my procedure was over and I went home. I highly recommend Calvary North Adelaide Hospital if you want a great all around service.

The maternity staff at Calvary North Adelaide are absolutely amazing. I had the pleasure of being in their care when I have birth to my daughter in November last year. I have been raving to anyone who will listen, what a beautiful experience I had at Calvary. Friendly staff, beautiful room, yummy food and the beautiful hospital itself. A big and special shoutout to Emily one of the midwives that helped me through my labour, she was absolutely amazing. My special guardian angel that day <3 Also shoutout to Amelia and Rene. So warm and supportive. They made me feel so comfortable and cared for. The staff I encountered were too many to mention, but they all do such a fantastic job. Being on call 24/7 and always answering any of our questions, even the silly ones- they were nothing but helpful. Thank You again to the incredible staff. You all do a marvelous job and you should be very proud of yourselves.

I recently underwent endometriosis surgery, and unfortunately, I experienced a spike in my heart rate after the procedure. The cause of this issue is still unknown, but I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional care I received from the medical staff and doctors. They acted swiftly and provided me with impeccable care, ensuring that I felt safe and well-cared for throughout the ordeal. I would like to give special recognition to Madam Meena, the night staff nurse, who went above and beyond in looking after me. Her level of care made me feel as if I were a member of her own family, and I am truly grateful for her dedication and support of all the other staff members too .

Had my first overnight experience at Calvary North Adelaide a few days ago. Have been in before for day surgery which was also good. The process was seamless from admission to ward to theatre and back to ward. The nursing staff were all fantastic and always kept me informed. I felt looked after and cared for even with my high anxiety they were understanding and accommodating. Theatre staff were exceptional in making me feel relaxed. Sharni from St Clare's ward was a standout and also Diksha from St Catherines ward. The food was also great. I had a single room and shared bathroom. View from my bed was lovely. Rooms are still a little dated but was clean and comfortable. Could collect my medications from hospital pharmacy on discharge which was another bonus. Prices were reasonable too. Met all my expectations and more.

I had my first day surgery experience at Cavalry North Adelaide, so was a bit nervous. But all the staff made the experience as reassuring and enjoyable as possible. The admin staff and nurses were kind, caring and were always making sure patients were comfortable. In particular, my theatre nurse was so friendly and warm - she was so reassuring and seemed genuinely interested in me as a person and making sure I had a good experience. I know how much pressure nurses and staff can be under, so these small details did not go unappreciated.
